Nice work on the greens again, ****fest.

Frogmen are what they're called in the US military... at least that's what they used to be called.

Daaaaaamn Damo! Those are some killer greenskins! Great way to kick off Green15.

I do kiiiiinda wish you'd have GSd the shoulders, though. especially on the places where it connects to a bare torso, I think it does detract a little from your otherwise lovely painting (sorry, dude, I gotta play the bad guy xD)

The skin around the bionics is painfully raw (in a good way ), and I love the contrast between it and the green skin.

Looking forward to more of Da Seelz. Love that he has only one flipper

cheers boys! gotta find a chance to finish the last basing of the colours, choosing the camo patterns is the problem, i've bounced a few schemes off them :-) but they're nearly ready for a good session to finish them off in the next week or so!

I haven't done the mottled skin to darken them yet. still not sure how to do it :-( do I add fluid and drop small amount of colour so it disperses? do I simply add green/black wash in increasing concentration? or do I merely add dots like you see on 'Predator' ?

and just to annoy some, you can BARELY tel the arm join now there's more paint! :-) .......o.k you can see it slightly but lets just enjoy the models eh!
Oh and i'm getting BladeRunner on a thumb drive this week!

Great work NerdRunner !

I would do the mottling in oils , you can really get super colour graduation with oils and lots of thinners !

But if that doesn't float yer boat, I would be tempted to try some of that acrylic drying retarder ( is that right ???) I believe it will allow you to apply small dots of colour and tease them out to a fine graduation, similar to oils.

Take all that with a pinch of salt as I regularly dip my brush in my wine and drink the thinners !

Thats a tough one maybe add the dot of colour that you want to be prominent colour then use washes to gradually fade it into the skin, the add fluid and drop colour sounds a bit awkward to control to me but hey what the hell do I know
Acrylic Retarder I found can be a little strange to work with especially in small controlled areas, for blending larger colour it was fine but small was a bit tricky but then I had only tried it for the first time so with practice might work.

The oils could work well but the drying time can be a pain depends how much time you want to invest enjoy BladeRunner although I am sure you will but incase you don't never post again

As for the arms I wished i never mentioned it now I was only trying to find something to have a dig about I am sure you can barely tell now

Oils take for ever to dry but you can cheat buy sealing them in with varnish after 24 hrs or so and cracking on with acrylics as necessary, I use Pledge floor polish, works really well and is cheap as chips.

Plus it tastes nice !

Judging from your previous camo, Im sure you'll find a suitably cool pattern to put on em! Remember that you can probably get away with using several different patterns in the same squad- they're Orks, after all!

As far as the skin.... I'm afraid I dont have anything productive to say on the matter. A mottled look might work with wetting the skin area with just water, then dotting washes over the wet areas. Should get you a spreading blob of semi-transparent color where you apply it. Similar to what you might get with oils.

Actually, speaking of which... Even if you dont end up using oils on the orks, I'd suggest giving it a shot on a test piece. You might find they're an interesting tool to add to your arsenal.

Haven't watched BladeRunner yet i'm still waiting on it from my mate at work but never fear I shall be sure to regail you all of my thoughts of this apparent cult classic

But I do have some photo's if you want a look at where I am with my Nobz?

so far as I mentioned they pretty much have nearly all the colours blocked in and most have some washes done fun times! thinking I may even add some small dots around the parts where the arms meet so it looks like thread holes from stitches? since I neglected to GS

There we go for a day or two thoughts again guys>

Glorious my friend. The builds are just fantastic to begin with. Dynamic poses, interesting gear, nice mix of bits. Add your fantastic skin-tones and you've really got a winning unit!

Wow, such awesome ideas. I love them all, so much character, but the one with the bionic skull showing on half of his face is my favorite. Beautiful (can orks be beautiful?) work on these, very unique.

Yo my brothers from many other mothers!

more updating of the Nobz today, not a huge amount done but I was pretty happy to see how the addition of work on the metals made such a difference to the overall look I started to add the rust and scratches, need to still wash and re-scratch areas on the klaws but it's coming along

I think my plan of using the same technique for each matching area throughout the army will work nicely, i've seen Goffs do it so why not BloodAxe's

anyway here's da boyz

and that's it for today, I bet you're getting sick of them by now I promise no more updates until they're finished!
