Good to see you on here Kev.
I can think of a few things I want. if you guys can get the following from the Aleph range in it would be much appreciated (I'll add the reference numbers from the Infinty website in brackets): Aleph Deva with Spitfire (Ref. 280805-0233), Aleph Sophotects (Ref. 280814-0281), and the Aleph Posthumans (Ref. 280822-0332). The post humans aren't out until the 24th though so I don't know if you'll be able to get them in or not.

well I now have pdf's of all six heroquest expansions, god help you. Kellars Keep Return of the witchlord Against the Ogre Horde Wizard of Morcar/Zorgan (apparently had a name change after original release) The Frozen Horror (Barbarian quest set) Mage of the Mirror (Elf Quest Set) Not sure how easy it will be to use some of them as there are special pieces of card stock and models that are required for a number of them. I can probably knock something together to represent the new tiles as the measurements are sort of provided (can see how many squares they take up on the board) and worse case scenario I can use GW models/scrounge the internet to find pieces. I will try and buy the add ons but they are rare and costly on ebay (well complete sets are), the wizard of Morcar is going for £250 on ebay and from the look of the contents would be the hardest one to fluff as it has a large number of new cards.

Hey Spank, the cards for the Wizard of Morcar are avaialble here, as is pretty much everything else

There are some competitive people but the majority are play for fun players. But for tornaments its mostly semi competitive, afterall it is a tornament.

Borka Kegslayer got lucky last week, Harkevich will have his revenge ha ha haaa for the motherland!

Post by: SpankHammer III
Ok I think i may have gone a little wrong, I now have print outs for all the Heroquest expansions both American and UK versions, plus two mission featured in issues of white dwarf and a couple more. Intersetingly the american quest book has colour coding , it's based on the second edition release as well which means the first mission is the "TheTrial" rather than "the Maze" also there are addtional items including throwing daggers. I haven't studied them that much to see what other changes there are.
35173
Post by: Lorna
The only way to win at heroquest is to walk through walls!
19941
Post by: SpankHammer III
Lol, well that is an option. Not sure if it the best stratergy though. The American version also adds Chaos Magic for Morcar/Zargon which looks like fun. The rules also appear to clear up some of the rules, for instance in clarifies the dwarfs method of removing traps is the same as the toolkit. However they only fail on a black shield. Pit traps can be disarmed but not if they are sprung same with falling rock. Also the traps in chests have to be disarmed. We were also right to rob douche face's corpse as it in the rules. Also you can swap potions/items with other players but only in your turn.

To Moe, Wesker, Shredder and Sparkes (aka Heroquesters)
I was planning to continue the campaign next week (30th Jan) if you are all up for it. If you could let me know it would be appreciated, because if you can't/don't want to do it this week i'll bring my guard instead.
I can run it with a man or two down, by adding merc/new players/allowing you to control two characters but none of these are ideal.
I spoke to Lorna and at the end of this current chapter of warhammer fantasy I will be dropping out, when then that happens I will be running hero quest at least monthly in "RPG Corner"
thanks

I'm happy to play Heroquest next week.
On another note, I'd really like to get into an RPG. I don't mind what system, I'm keen to play anything. It's been ages since I last did an RPG.
I'd like to get in on WHFRPG if a spot comes open. But if there's any interest in starting a new system then I'd really like to do Shadowrun, if anyone is interested in that. I have the core rule book and other books are easy to download. I've never GM'd a game and I think I'd be a rubbish GM, but there is an adventure that is designed for a starting group and it's very well written and I think I could run it (with a forgiving group of gamers!), If that's a success, then I have an idea for a campaign or if anyone else likes it and feels able to, then I'll pass GMing on.
If anyone's interested or wants to know more about Shadowrun then let me know.

@Wesker if I start running Heroquest on a monthly basis, with the current other RPG's, Role play corner will still be free at least once a month.
I know Lorna is finishing his current quest soon, but i'm not sure if he is planning to start up another one straight away or leave a gap

Post by: Lorna
Hey all, I will pretty much be starting the new quest in my next scheduled rpg corner night. And I might be able to add in another player depending on how things go.
Hopefully we should be at full strength in time for the next session, and sadly the departure (albet non-death) of our Dwarf Agent, the most choppy, limb stealing badd ass dwarf this side of the drunkness barrier.
Your character will be kept incase you want to come back. But if someone else ends up dropping out, then I will be taking on a 5th player.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Well I am probably going to drop out too as FRP isn't really my thing, I don't really like the way it plays.

The sergeant may take the following
Power weapon 15pts
power fist 25pts

plasma pistol 10pts
19941
Post by: SpankHammer III
Think the plasma pistol should be sergeant only option, also you've not said what the upgrades are replacing or is the intention that they are in addition to existing wargear?
34439
Post by: Formosa
yep as per the ravenwing options, kinda funny i never noticed that in the DA codex, badly written added the list of other problems with it lol.
to be fair they have limited options due to the fact im far too lazy to actually convert the models much, but it looks like fun to have a load of jetbikes flying round
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
One thing that screams out at me is the Attack Bike. That should probably be more inline with the regular SM codex which is much better worded.
Attack Bike may repalce it's Heavy Bolter with:
Multimelta +10pts
Plasma Cannon +20pts
BTW I too have been working on some jetbikes but I was just going to run them as regular bikes. Although I have spent some time getting a Captian on bike/counts as Kossaro Khan on Moondrakken converted too.

If you want to learn Infinity then no point learning the rules at the club. Too many people butting in, and the best way is to have the infinity wiki at hand.

not true in every case, do a one on one and it flows really well, you and nick play, and i will bring my donggle and laptop fo the wiki
32930

I learn far better by actually playing rather than reading so I need to play as many games as possible.
Probably doesn't help that I'm the only one using remotes and the like on a regular basis.

Or i could play Lorna at 2400 fantasy and Tony and nick play Infinity and i'll bring my scenery for you to use????

And yeah I would like some fantasy games in the coming few months (but obviously not a heroquest week), I've about 1500-1750 atm. I dont think I can get 2000pts yet as I dont have enough points in my core spearmen.

Got a few bits and pieces for my Nurgle army today, no idea how many points I'm up to although I suspect the army will be rather character heavy.
Oh and adding to my list of projects is a Finnish Panssarikomppania for Flames of War, 1000pts, 13 tanks and some infantry support. Oh and fairly cheap too as I'll be using Plastic Soldier Company and Zvezda kits for most of the tanks (T-34s and T-26s respectively). Just need the infantry and T-28s from Battlefront and I'm gonig to look for cheaper sources of 1/100 scale T-28s.
EDIT: Ok just done the maths, all I need for a 2k army is another Sorcerer model.
Although basically half the army is characters.

Hey hey, Posted on the Aftermath forum: A run down of the rules to the 2 day Fantasy tornament.
A few of the rules i don't agree with, but there you go live with it......
Aftermath Club will soon be holding our 6th Warhammer Fantasy Tournament. May 26th and 27th in Norwich, England, this will be our 7th annual fantasy tournament but the first 2 dayer!
The tournament is for 2400 point armies.
Models need not be fully painted, but the painting scoring rewards armies that are.
The rules pack will be published on our website soon but for now heres the comp, house rules and scoring part of the pack.
Tournament Comp
No unit may cost more than 450 points This includes all upgrades, magic banners and items. This not apply to characters.
No unit may start the game with more than 50 models This doesn’t include any characters joining the unit
No more than 3 additional power dice and 2 additional dispel dice may be generated in each magic phase Roll for the winds of magic and any channels as usual. The maximum additional dice limit includes dice from ANY other source (spells which generate more dice, magic items, special abilities) Note that Night Goblin magic mushrooms state they DO NOT count as power dice, and so are exempt fro this limitation. Dwarfs may also generate up to 4 dispel dice and are the exception to the above rule.
No more than 12 power dice can be used in one magic phase Pretty self explanatory, but even if more than 12 dice are generated over the course of a magic phase, 12 can only ever be used. This includes any abilities that allow an additional dice to be used per casting. These abilities can be used until the 12 dice cap has been hit, but not after.
Spells that allow ‘no saves of any kind’ Characters in a unit that is affected by such a spell make a ‘look out sir’ roll to potentially escape damage. Also Magic Resistance overrides the ‘no saves of any kind’ rule and always give a ward save against spells.
No more than 5 artillery pieces and/or template weapons may be taken. War Machines that use a template only count as one towards the limit.
No more than 3 flying units per army may be taken This includes characters on flying mounts as well as flying units, beasts and monsters.
House Rules
Cowardice doesn’t pay! Fleeing units do not count as destroyed as per the rules with the following exception - if you choose to flee in your final turn the unit DOES count as destroyed and your opponent gets full vps for it.
Garrisoning a building All buildings in this tournament are deemed to be fairly small (including any Fozzriks Folding Fortresses that show up) and can only be garrisoned by 15 infantry models or 5 monstrous infantry models. No unit can enter a building if they have performed a reform that turn. Also, unless either is with the unit inside a building, the garrisoned unit may NOT use the generals Inspiring Presence or the battle standard bearers Hold Your Ground benefits.
Battle Points
Scoring will be as follows
VP difference Result Battle points
0-200 Draw 10-10
201-600 Minor Victory 13-7
601-1000 Solid Victory 15-5
1001-1400 Crushing Victory 17-3
1401vps+ Massacre! 19-1
Tabled* Rout!! 20-0
*Tabled meaning you have wiped out your enemy to a man – you have literally cleared the table of you foes! To get this result you also need to have scored 1401 more VPs than your opponent. So you have to massacre your opponent AND kill every model. There is also up to 35 points available for painting and 20 points available for sportsmanship.

I didn't make the rules up, the tornament organiser took ideas from other tornaments he's been to and put this together for the Aftermath tornament in May.
Basically i hate it when someone writes rules that go against RAW, its just making up your own game then, and not actually playing the fantasy as we all know it to be.

35pts? Yeah I should be able to do that but I'll either be running very jack heavy or I'll have to finally build my Exemplar Cinerators.
EDIT: Or maybe not, just worked out an interesting if horribly uncompetetive list that could be fun to play.

Hi Everyone has anyone tried the Eden skirmish game by Taban miniatures ive been looking at it thinking should i !! Its post apocalypse game with gangs of clowns but the minis look really cool, the rules are free from website and cards come with minis. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried the game or the minis?
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Never played it but it does look interesting, I don't really have the space for another game but it is a skirmish game and those starter boxes look like a real bargain. Rule book and starter force for under £30 is one hell of a deal.
If I can get rid of some of my stuff that I'm never going to do anything with I might consider it. Speaking of which anyone from the club want any of the following:
LOTR/WOTR Easterlings (with Orc allies)
Thousand Sons
WHFB Empire, Dark Elves
PM me with any offers.
EDIT: I could also be convinced to sell my Black Templars but I'm not certain about getting rid of them.

Nick, why do i look on ebay!! Just bought jokers eden starter set, at £17.50 buy it now i couldnt say no, they only had two others left matriarchy and ISC sets. Couldnt really afford it but couldnt let the bargain slip past!!
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Damn you!!!! Just bought the ISC starter set for that price I'd be a fool not to, hell I've bought rules books on a whim for more than that.
53846
Post by: Dribblie77
Looks like we will be playing Eden in the near future then!! But hey was a bargain!!
38693
Post by: Gorillawizard
Oh god, i was looking at Eden mini's too the other day... tbh may have to completely give up Fantasy and 40k, looks like the way forward is small scale cost effective skirmish games.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Dribblie77 wrote:Looks like we will be playing Eden in the near future then!! But hey was a bargain!!
Indeed £17.50 for a rule book and 95pt starter army (from what I've read 100 is standard size) is a nice price plus most of the ISC models are really cool looking (not really looked at the other factions much).
@Gorillawizard, well atleast keep one army for each system ( 40k and Fantasy) but yeah these small games are the way forward.
BTW Eden only uses a 60cmx60cm board (or more likely with us 2' x 2') should be really easy to get multiple games of that going if we can get the players.
53846
Post by: Dribblie77
Nick/Mark ive been looking on the offical website, mostly in french, but they have brought out 2 new factions recently, 100pts is the norm but can play up tp 200pts if want to expand your faction. It actually seems really cool also you can add non player models like creatures and monsters etc to games to spice it up, not only are you battling each other but with monsters running round too sounds awsome, cant wait!! Automatically Appended Next Post: Malestrom seems to stock the whole range which is good!!

Post by: Lorna
Sounds interesting. I'll have to have a look at them in a bit.
@GorillaWizard. I doubt you would ever stop with your empire.
32930

You looking at metal models! Quite preposterous sir.
35173
Post by: Lorna
oh, they're metal. Okay probably wonh't do it then.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
You really need to get over your dislike of metal.
35173
Post by: Lorna
No i don't, companies need to stop using metal.
I will have a look at the minis, they will have to be freaking special to get me to buy them though.
38693
Post by: Gorillawizard
Well i'll probably keep my Empire but as to 40k it's a kinda on off thing with me tbh. You know me... i'll probably be selling my Grey/Goldknights sometime soon tbh.
I've just bought the Dreamer for malifaux, including some Daydreams a Lilitu and Lelu aswell. Malifaux is probably going to be the game i'm going to be consentrating on more than any others.
I didn't really like Infinity at all, didn't like the game style tbh, way too many rules for me to comprehend, so i sold the lot yesterday.
BloodBowl
well easy rules to pick up, probably never give this up, sooo much fun
Malifaux
Love the models and the gameplay, brilliant is all i can say about it
Fantasy
My army has got too big to even comprehend selling it or giving it up, i enjoy it even when i'm losing. For all those who care about winning, i don't give a toss if your uber competitive about fantasy cos i'm soooo not, Seriously... don't even try to tell me about your unkillable list cos i don't care.
Warmahordes
Freeking awsome models and the mechanics of the game are brilliant.
Freebooters Fate
Small scale skirmish with pirates.... whats not to like? and the rules are sooooo easy to pick up its unbelievable.
Just a little rundown of which games i play. Possibly Eden if i can see how it plays out before i buy into it, learn by your mistakes i say.
35173
Post by: Lorna
Those minis don't really do much for me.
Don't get me wrong, the sculpts are fantastic, but fetish much?
And I would probably buy your empire from you if you ever even got close to selling it.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
The Eden rulebook is a free download but it is rather badly translated from French into English. link
Shame you didn't like Infinity Gorilla, it's hard to crasp the complex stuff certainly but the basics are simple enough.

32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Great game last night Duane, the Viks really stomped poor old Ramos into the dirt. I think once you learn how to use the crew you'll do a bit better than killing just two of my Ronin.
Got my Eden starter box today, not had much of a chance to look at the contents but for such a small box it's bloody heavy. I'm looking forward to assembling the models.
To all Dark Heresy players the next session is this Monday, should be good more investigation type stuff for you to sink your teeth into.

OFFICIAL REMINDERS
Not trying to be a fun Nazi but couple of reminder/requests to aid the smooth running of the club:
1) When arranging games please try and arrange a game with a full member first. Full member have priority of play, the committee does not want to start overseaing games. If your not sure who the member are ask me or the person you want to play, they should know if they are a member or not.
2) Please take all your rubbish with you and return the class room to a good state of order before leaving. We don't want to ban people from eating or moving tables around but the school has made some gripes and we do not want to lose the room.
3) If you have called "Dibs/Bagsied/Shotgunned" a table use it! Do not wander off to the shops for half an hour. If you leave the club your table will be forfeit. The amount of time we have is limited please use it wisely
If we continue to get large turnouts I will talk to the school about the possibility of increaseing the size of the space we have, as I realise our magic players were purched on any bit of funiture they could find.
Thanks
Alex

I have to admitt I'm getting a little bit worried about the size constraints.
However two things need to happen before we get more room.
1) I need to speak to the school, and see if we can get additional/larger room. A larger room would be good but I think, due to other clubs run at the school, it would mean we would either need to change day or time. A additonal room would be more likely but we woud need to have monitors in both rooms to ensure the code of conduct is adhered to and that the classroom is kept in good order.
2) Based on the current price the club would need at least 16 full time members each month in order to afford it.

How many are there currently?

Post by: SpankHammer III
@ Wesker
Its hard to say, including your good self we've had 19 full members, which is more than enough to cover it. However if you mean what i would call "consistent members" the numbers are a lot less. I'm hoping that the change in pay and play price will create a number of new "consistent members".
please note my use of the term "consistent members" is in no way meant to be an insult or dig at anyone, I understand and appreciate that not everyone can afford or wants to be a member on a regualr basis and would like to apologise in advance if this has in any way given offence.
@ Nick, Gorillawizard, Formosa
I've read the Infinity quick rule and i'm interested. I've downloaded the full rules and will hopefully get a chance to read them this weekend.
Quick question about starting an army though, i'm thinking Pan Oceania, do i have to get the starter pack or can I get the shock army of Acontecimento instead?
admittedly at this point i don't know the differnce in game play terms but I prefer the minis

Anyone interested in skirmish wargames me and nick will be playing Eden for first time on monday, come hav a look its a cool and cheap game to start, starter sets include the rules, tokens, stat cards and of course 4 to 5 minis depending on faction (6 to choose from), all this for under £20!! @ Spanky
Although i've given up on Infinity myself (basically i've got into too many systems that my brain fryed and got rid of a few) i can still give you some advice.
The best way to start pan O is with the normal pan O starter box and go from their but of course if you want to you can go with the Acontecimento.
The Pan O starter will give you a good insite into the game and then you can make a decision on where to go from their... Close combat or range. It will also let you take whatever troops the Pan O offer.
The Acontecimento starter is a sectorial army. The sectorial armies are covered in the 'Human sphere' book. Basically you can only take specific troops from the Pan O army. But with sectorial armies you can link troops which are the same type and move or fire etc etc with them at the same time.

1) please only book games with full members - we do operate a member priority system if you want a list of current members ask.
2) If you are not using your table by 6pm I will give it away - we have limited time and I do not want people not getting games because other people are late.

Just had confirmation about some of the details, as some of you may know we have been asked if we would like to field a team for the upcoming John Levitt Memorial Tournament.
The Team size is four people, they must be over 16 and if they are under 18 accompanied by a parent, guardian or nominated adult.
I'd like to send everyone who wanted to go but as you can see I can't. I would have liked to run a mini tournament to decide who got to go but not sure if we'll have time unless we do something like kill team. I would like peoples feed back on this.
If it is decided that we can't run a tournament then priority will have to go to full members and then any remaining place decided by a roll off or name out of a hat.

Well im up for it spanky but would like to know more, is there a rules pack available or accesible from somewhere? Dont mind a mini tourney if we could squeeze it in but really i dont mind being drawn or not from a hat, either way im easy. will have to check the dates to see if ill be available though.
Cheers.

I don’t know if you are aware or not but every year the Last Stand organises the 40k club challenge for the John Levitt memorial trophy. It’s an opportunity for the local clubs to get together and play some different people in a relaxed & friendly tournament style event.
We have presently penned in the 6th May as the date for the 2012 event, and wondered if Warpath wanted to enter a team?
This year’s event will be for four player teams and 1500 points for 40k. We are probably pricing it at £10 including the York Tavern’s famous Sunday Lunch or £5 ex Sunday Lunch (we may get it a bit lower), with anything left over going into the raffle (we don’t like giving away prizes to winners) as we don’t profit from the event.
Scoring will be on the usual win/draw/loss (3/1/0) basis with the highest team score winning the day. Armies do not have to be painted, but we do ask that models fielded are appropriate to the faction, i.e. no marines pretending to be necrons or dreadnoughts as tomb stalkers etc - however, there will be a bonus point if the whole team fields painted armies. Other than that is a fairly relaxed event and we normally randomise our player selection to ensure everyone from the club has a fair chance of playing.
This is the message I got, I've asked about the rule pack and will let you know when I do. From the looks of it i'd guess it would be fairly standard, hopefully no mad missions, but I would imagine IA won't be allowed.

Just throwing this out there... would anyone be interested in another RPG?
I have a horror/supernatural investigation setting ready to go. I'd be using the Savage Worlds rules which is a very easy to use set of rules, character creation is quick and simple. Action encounters are played out as a tabletop battle using minis and buildings etc.
The only issue would be when to play it as the RPG corner is getting booked up!

MESSAGE FROM THE MANGEMENT
Hi All
Just a couple of quick messages.
As many of you are aware Lorna is leaving us to pursue an exciting carreer in drug dealing , not really he's working for GW. We all wish him luck and hope that he will stay in contact and come back to visit once and awhile.
This has two additional effects on the club , other than losing a beloved founding member, we now need a new Vice Treasure. if anyone would like to throw their hat into the ring or would like to nominate some else please let me know.
Also we now have a free evening in rollplay corner, i believ Greg is interested in running a campaign so if any one is interested please let him or my self know.
Also 9th April is a bank holdiay, I am waiting for confirmation from the school but at the moment it looks like we will able to run the club on Tuesday 10th instead.
50575
Post by: Redacted_01
If the club runs on a Tuesday that month, Gamma World will be off as I can't make tuesdays. If someone else wants to nab the slot that week to run something, thats fine.
Alternitivley, we could swap slots and run the week beforehand if people want to?
