Hmm bit grumpy tonight I wasted quite a bit of fuel to come along and not get a game, Formosa I understand you've got a few issues atm what with being unempolyed but I really would appreciate some warning in future if you're not going to turn up.
On the plus side Duane's awesome Retribution have convinced me to get an army together. 35pts of them should be on it's way to me soon, albiet completely different to what Duane's running. It's amazing how seeing them in something other than the PP colour scheme (a very bland white) can improve their looks, I reckon they'll look good in a fetching shade of green just got to choose which of my many greens to use. Makes a nice birthday present to myself too.

Hey Stuart
Thanks for the game, had fun.
On the way home Moe did point out we weren't playing dawn of war so you shouldn't have been able to roll on turn one unless Black Templars have a special rule.
If you want a rematch, or if anyone else wants a game, i'll be bringing 1750 on Guard again next week.
@Formosa
I'd like to collect the scenery box off you please matey, I can pick it up lunch times or i'll be in Norwich Friday or Saturday. le me know when's good for you.

Could be very entertaining indeed, still no idea when the stuff I've bought will arrive though.
Before I play any larger games though I'd like to get a couple of 15pt games in to learn the rules properly. Amazingly with the tier list I've gone for I can get a quite nasty tier 2 list at 15pts.

Continuing Devil's role here; you got a rules lawyer/non playing TO? If the're is no benefit to the club and your not having an impartial TO, it kinds of sounds like you want permission to gamble on a game of magic. Which I have to say honestly i'm not that comfortable with as it sounds like your trying to make a quick 50 off of other members. if you want to run i'd require the following 1) You open it to as many teams as want to enter 2) you have a clear rules set e.g which cards/decks (whatever I don't play magic) are allowed. This needs to be in written form and available to all those taking part before the actual tournament. 3) You have at least one impartial non participating TO/Referee/Rules lawyer/Grand High Magician to oversee the games and make all rules decisions. 4) Part of the pot (at least an offering) goes to the club May I recommend the following, ask Jamie from starwind to lawyer, draw up a rules set and print out a few copies and tout it at the next meeting. Sorry if this seems harsh but anything done has to be fair and seen as being fair especially if it involves money changing hands.

Ok Magic players, These are the rules for the tournament.
Magic: The gathering – Avacyn restored Tournament
Rules:
The only cards Permitted in this set are the following expansions:
Scars of Mirrodin
Mirrodin besieged
New Phyrexia
Magic 2012 Core set
Innistrad
Dark ascension
Avacyn Restored
If you only have cards from older sets, then either you acquire some or don’t take part.
You cannot represent cards. This means to bits of paper in card sleeves, No print outs, nothing.
If you are using double sided cards, You must either have opaque card sleeves or use the double sided card mark that you get in boosters.
Entrance fee, times and dates:
The entrance fee (per person) is £12.50. All money received will go towards the booster box, with the change going towards a 2nd place prize if enough people take part.
If you wish to take part, then I need confirmation from both team members as well as £12.50 on the 30th of April. The actual tournament day is on the 7th of May. Reason being for this is that the winner of the 7th of May can take home the booster box there and then, instead of waiting a week.
On the 7th of May, the tournament will start at 7:00pm, and end at 9:15pm max, Hopefully ending before then.
If you need to contact me for any reason, my phone number is 07826565257, and my email is connorwhite101@gmail.com .
Next week I will be giving out copies of this to any taking part.
32930

@woodbok
Just realised that the 7th May is a bank holiday, so we may not be able to use the school. I will have to check.
Remember everyone we are now taking nominations for the committee. Automatically Appended Next Post: MESSAGE FROM LAST STAND
I'll mention this at the club as wll but I've had a few messages from last stand. First is an invitation to a tournament they are thinking of having in July
We are thinking about running a 1750pt 3 game 40k tournament Sunday 1st July. It will be for 16 players, and as usual cost £10 (inc the York Tavern’s Sunday Lunch) or £5 ex Lunch, and we’d present a winners trophy, best painted award and some spot prizes. It's at relatively short notice, so I'm testing the water before announcing anything.
In case anyone from Warpath is interested, this is now officially up:
http://www.norwichlaststand.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=409
second is a message to all those taking part in the club challenge, this is taken from several message but you get the main points
We'd like payment at least a week in advance - most tournaments work on this basis, as that incentivises players to turn up and gives the organiser control over numbers. We have the two additional issues: first, that being a team event, we can't suddenly pair down if one or two players drop; and second, that the pub will need to know numbers for lunches in advance.
Would you pass this on to the Club Challenge players?
With respect to the Club Challenge, we have had a request for clarification on 'no proxies'.
The intention of this rule is to prevent people using models that completely out of context in their army or re likely to cause confusion, for example, using a Dreadnought to represent a War Walker etc. It is not to prevent using alternates or conversions, so for example, using old figures to represent new things or conversions to represent something - as usual, rool of cool trumps all.
Thanks
Spank

Sounds like it was a nice mix of forces. It's what i'm trying to achieve for my 40k narrative gaming weekend in december. Was this a club member tourny or an open competition?
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/440020.page
If any of you would like to attend please check the link and see what you think. Although it is not a tournament there is a competitive element to the narrative and club members can be teamed together should they bring allied forces.
Just throwing it out there dudes.

Scourge.... dont no one nick them.... they are getting soooo converted into mass effect reapers, and like the dude said they are Clich'e but also rather Kitch (thats right i know wordseseses), but i digress (english lesson today).
Hey spanky, i need a spray gun for the Infinity scenery, niel tells me you can get a compressor and airgun from langleys (£10 for the compressor, £15 for air gun) as GW paints aint gonna cut it on these, its too thick/thin, i will also need some hummbrol paints, about £2.30-50 each. so can we get on that?
Also lorna, did you hand in the spray the club bought or re-imburse the club? thankseseses
35173
Post by: Lorna
I have it if you want it.
Also, the new paints use a liquid pigments, and if properly thinned then they work just as well.
I did talk to alex about getting a spray gun, but he didn't think it was nessacary. (On phone, sorry about spelling)
34439
Post by: Formosa
when i said "can we get it" i meant "we need one anyway so lets get it" lol
and sod the GW paints, i have always used Hummbrol to spray the consistency is much better and it layers well, this scenery is soo good i dont want to mess it up, and i will be keeping a close eye on it to make sure it is not damaged like my terrain
I will post a pic of the 1st finished set

I disgree, long term cost efectivness it will be more usefull than having to buy a spray can for every set of terrain lol
35173
Post by: Lorna
Dude, the can I have, which i can bring in tomorrow is rather good.
34439
Post by: Formosa
i got spray, but i dont thnk black will cut it, these need to be done properly (not like the terrain i did before lol)
19941
Post by: SpankHammer III
Dude as Lorna said i'm reluctant to buy the club anything like a spray gun as the issue of ownership and use will come up at some point.
e.g. club dice and templates not seen them in awhile
The best deal I can think of, which would have to be agreed by the committee is, you buy the gun, paint brushes you want and then offer to paint the club scenary on a commission basis.
I've only used a couple of the new GW paints, but they do seem alright the base paint still covers well but doesn't seem as thick as the older white caps.

It looks like its their biggest price rise ever.
19941
Post by: SpankHammer III
We did have a game booked from a couple of weeks ago but if your double booked that's ok.
I'll have 1750 of guard, including my new ogryns, if anyone is interested.
@wesker yeah, had a quick look. I'm disappointed but not suprised. After the last one all my GW models have either been from third party sites or second hand (ebay/swaps). I would rant an rave about quitting the hobby and playing another system but I'm not going to if I'm honest. I'm too heavily invested in GW. I will continue to buy on the manner I have been but maybe less often.
I have about 50 guard, a sentinel, a chimera, Lorna nids and some Flagellants/pyskers at home to build so I'm not going to run out of hobby anytime soon but it might mean that my blood angels get put on hold for a while unless the club wants to buy me the army for all the stellar work i've done

Bank holiday we're probably looking a Tuesday, think that what Petrid would prefer but I will confirm with him tonight.

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGEMENT
Apologies for the late notice, so please spread this around if you know folks who don't use dakka, we will be meeting Tuesday next week being the 5th.
Before anyone else say but it's still a bank holiday, I know but Petrid has to be there anyway because of the Fat Fighters club who refuse to move days.
Nick and Gorilla - we need to talk, if you guys want to be on the committee you will need to take scenery or at least stay till closing. If you don not feel you can do this let me know.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
I'll let Martin know about next week.
I'm more than happy to hang around until closing time if it's required, just be prepared for me to do random things like bringing guitars with me or listening to music if I don't have anything else to keep me busy for the whole evening.
As for scenery as I have said many times before I'm more than happy to store scenery at my place but I still need to find somewhere suitable in my house, taking into account that I don't have everything sorted yet it'll be some time before I can give you a definite answer. Although if you can give me the measurements of the box you want me to keep I can start measuring likely places up.
EDIT: btw that guitar I had with me yesterday that had just arrived in the post is now fixed (the electrics were on the fritz), took me all of 5 minutes this evening (just a minor short) and I didn't need any tools beyond a screw driver either.

that's a good offer, but I don't really want a another new army. Got silly recently because it's so much easier to buy stuff than it's is to find time to build and paint them.

I think Pete was part of a gang that botched a kidnap of a Texan Cattle Barron which rsulted in the death of several gang member and the barons eldest son.
That leaves a lot of scope for the enmy bit as well, is it the cattle baron? is it one of the other gang members? or is it completely unrelated.

Hi! I was wondering if i could join your wargames club, I dont play 40k, warmachine, Malifaux etc at the moment but i was wondering if people would be intrested in playing tommorows war or Stargrunt 2. They dont require specific minatures in a specific scale, although i am working on two forces of 15mm scale minatures at the moment for tommorows war and i should soon have some terrain. There both deasant systems which although i dont want to sound like a heritic iv found to be more tactical than 40k

If you want to join, just come on down dude. Hang around, and it's pretty much guaranteed to be interesting to at least one person at Warpath,
Hope to see you there.

@Literal Nonsense
as Lorna says come on down and see what you think. We don't have anyone I know off playing those systems currently but some of our members pretty much play anything going (you know who you are) and as Lorna said people can always be tempted.
Although we started as GW player escaping the store based games, we do have a range of stuff going on. We currenlty have 3 rpg's on monthly rotation and magic has hit the club in a big way both thing I hadn't imagined would happened when we started so you never know Stargrunt maybe the next big thing.
If you come down look for guys with glasses and beards, we tend to make up the majority if the committee

32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Formosa just look through the Ground Zero Games store. link
BTW I've just bought a UCM starter army and rulebook for Dropzone Commander. So I can't see myself investing in 15mm Sci-fi anytime soon really.
38693
Post by: Gorillawizard
I just pre-ordered a PHR starter and the rule book for Dropzone commander
Just read the preview of the rules too, it seems that the reaction system is the in thing at the moment with new reulsets.
The price isn't too bad aswell, still alot cheaper than GW. the biggest model for the PHR (the poseiden heavy dropship) is only £19 and the rule book is only £15, pretty damn good i think.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
The pricing is indeed very nice, I reckon a decent sized Dropzone Commander army will be about the same cost as a 35pt Warmachine/Hordes army. I did go for the premium army as I reckon a KR case with custom foam is definitely worth having for an extra £20.
With alternate activation (albiet by battle group rather than unit) and a reaction system I should feel right at home. Hopefully we'll get more about the rules on Monday since there's going to be a big Q&A thing on facebook all day.

Post by: Dribblie77
Im not sure about dropzone commander yet, rather see it in action before i invest, i like the orange alien ones with the weird walkers if i did go for it, never liked 15mm but this does look good!!
35173
Post by: Lorna
I would have an army of just walkers and big motherflyers.
38693
Post by: Gorillawizard
Its 10mm not 15mm dribblie and you mean the Shaltari tribes, they're the ones with the weird walkers.
As i said Lorna the infantry are at most 1 cm tall and metal, so just a little spooge of paint and they're done tbh.
35173
Post by: Lorna
It's not gonna happen.
32930
Post by: Nick Ellingworth
Lorna at this stage your hatred of metal is completely irrational. The amount of infantry you need for Dropzone Commander is minute as the mainstay of your force will be the tanks, walkers and other vehicles. The most infantry I'm planning on running in my UCM is the 6 bases which come from the starter army and either 4 elite infantry bases in light dropships or another 6 regular infantry bases in APCs. Even then I'm not sure they're really needed for anything other than big games.
If the infantry are anything like the infantry produced for other similar scales (unlikely not to be tbh) painting will be quick and easy and assembly even easier.
38693
Post by: Gorillawizard
The infantry are essential in most games to capture buildings
This is from the FAQ page on the Hawk Wargames site:
How do infantry operate, and do I need to paint up hundreds of little men?
Be sure to always have some infantry squads in your army. Infantry are the only units which can enter buildings and secure objectives (although once captured they can often be passed to vehicles). Infantry are highly vulnerable and slow on the open battlefield though, so fielding hordes of them on foot would be unwise! The game is primarily vehicle based, so you won't need to field too many of them.

Still, no infantry! Just mechs. Ooooh RAH!

Warpath War Games
Presents:
KILL TEAM
On 6th August 2012, we will be having a Kill Team Tournament, open to all full members and pay and players.
Entry Cost
Entry costs are as follows
Full Members: Free
Pay and Players: £5 to be paid a week in advance.
Rules
We will be using a slightly modified version of the Kill Team rules from the GW: Battle Missions expansion book.
The rules are as follows:
• 200 point army
• 0-1 Elite Choice
• 0-2 Troop Choices
• 0-1 Fast Attack choices
• Three models may take a Universal Special rule, from the 5th edition WH40k, each rule can only taken once. e.g. you can not give all three models feel no pain. The rule should be shown next to relevant model in your army list.
• For more details please see the GW: Battle Missions expansion book.
To which we have added the following Additional Rules:
• All models must be modelled appropriately with all relevant equipment and weapons represented. In other words WYSIWYG, proxies will not be allowed.
• No IA (Imperial Armour) lists or units, from any of the books this also includes but is not limited to upgrades to existing codex entries (e.g. auto cannon turret on chimera’s)
• No vehicles/walkers with a total armour value of more that 33. e.g. 12, 12, 10 = 34 will not be allowed.
• No Named/Individual/Hero/Unique characters.
In addition in order to enter you will be required to provide a written copy of your army list 1 week in advance, please note that all unit and equipment entries must be spelt out in full.
You will be expected to bring the current codex for the army you are using as well as the appropriate FAQ’s and Errata.
Game Format & Scoring
The game format will be decided on the day depending on the number of players we get.
Prizes
There will be trophies for the overall winner and for the “best Kill -team” which will be a painting a conversion competition.

Post by: SpankHammer III
Sorry man, can't be allowing IA just becasue it opens it up to too many possible shenanigans. I know a lot of IA's stuff is well costed and not broken rules wise but there are a few items out there which aren't.
I know you could say the same about some codex's but we had to draw a line somewhere. Alos isn't the decimator higher AV than 33?

You can only spend 125 points on a hero. No lords, and no named characters. Tomb kings get a little extra because of the heirophant thing.

ah thats fine then, but still no superspells pllllleeeeeaaasssee, and how many pts was it again? 400 isnt it?
35173
Post by: Lorna
500 points.
Only onw Special OR Rare choice. And if the choice say 1-2 for 1 slot, it doesn't count. Only one.
And one unit of 10 infantry, Ogres are immne to this rule, but you can't get many ogres in anyway.
And if someone rolls a superspell they can have it, but it won't be very good.

I would like to use this dude in my borfer patrol if everyone is ok with it, he is not as good as an exalted hero (in any way lol)
but he is my new character
Hero
Bork the Undying
120pts
WS 5
BS 3
S 4
T 5
W 2
I 5
A 3
LD 9
SV -
Wargear: Helm of Bork, Stonehorn Axe, warpaint (6+ ward)
Helm of bork: The malign spirit within this helm constantly battle for control of the Big boss it has possessed, at the start of every turn (except when in CC) you must roll on the following chart
1-2 Bork takes control of his body and lashes out in a rage, he counts as having Frenzy untill his next turn
3-4 The deamon remains in control, Bork acts normally this turn
5-6 Bork exerts more control over his host strenghtening him considerably, Bork has +1 str untill the following turn.
Stonehorn Axe: Great weapon, magical attacks, confers always strike last to all models in base contact (friendly and enemy)
So this is what he is, he may not be great but he has character lol
comments welcome

I would be interested in getting involved with this club, and more so with the Border Patrol for fantasy. I haven't played WHF for a long time so would be nice to have a place to game. And learn how to play again.
Thing is I would need to find where the club meets. If someone could help me with some directions, from the City centre.
I am looking to join a club and get back to gaming as much as I can.

Hope this helps somewhat.
EDIT: Chaps I may be getting the 6th ed rulebook at launch I've found some non GW models which are perfect for 40k and as a result rekindled my interest in the system. I'm gonig to use the models for the Imperial Guard all the infantry I'd need for a guard army would cost maybe 1/4 of the cost from GW with tanks being anything from £13-£20 a piece. Yes I will end up doing a lot of conversions but I think I might be throwing together a little guard army soon. Might even make them traitor guard.

So is the plan for Monday still lots of Border Patrol games? If so I really need to figure out an army quickly.
Oh and I have just bought 240 old Warzone plastic infantry figures, only want half of them (equal split of two different armies) to form the basis of a renegade guard army, not sure what I'll do with the other half. Should be fun building and converting that lot to be appropriate for what I have planned. Now I need to get my hands on a load of plasticard and plastic rod and all sorts of other bits and pieces so I can convert some counts as meltas, plasma guns etc. When I eventually get some vehicles (after payday) I'll give them some appropriate weapons too.
This is going to be a fun project. Still got no idea how I want to paint them but I do have plenty of fluff ideas forming.

As I said I'm still not sure what I'll do with the extra 120 models, I need to give it some thought. However I can tell you I'm using the Imperial models simply because they look more renegade guard to me.
EDIT: Ok got my border patrol sorted, Nurgle Sorcerer and a bugger load of Nurgle Marauders
