Hmm... I've got one. But I don't think I have photos of it.
Basically, take the one Shoota in the Boyz box (the one with the sort of ray-gun look to it, with the longer bottom than top barrel cover and the little side vents), chop the barrel a little, remove the magazine. Then take the tip of a disposable pen- one of the hexagonal ones with the smooth caps that have the hole in the end- take the tip, and carefully trim the outer cylinder of plastic from it. You get a really cool nozzle.

I have a bunch of old Cadian IG models. And of course, since its all melta, all the time, the flamers don't get used. So just a little snip to remove the front of the shoota barrel, a little snip of the flamer near the back of the gun, glue them together, add a glyph plate to cover the 'transition', and you get an ork burna on the cheap (because you can get LOTS of IG flamers for cheap.)
Here's a picture of them from the back. The photo quality is so poor I thought I deleted it, but you can see what I was going for.

My primary Battlewagon is called da Boomstompa- it's based on Looted Defiler legs, and features a Killkannon, Big Gun, and 4 Rokkits.
And I built it that way before 6th came out.

here is my WIP, at this angel you cant real see the pose im going for, i still have 2 legs to go on it and the feeder, which i my just use Burners to make this look, there is still the armour to bang on it too, so really this is a very basic shape at the moment.

Ok Spider fan's, day 2 conpleat, back legs on, i made them different to the other six, as they being the back legs they should be a tidg different.
today i will make the feeder legs things, the fangs im going to put to Burners there, i will try make them from scratch, also the pilot is going in, im thinking of using a deathcoppa cut right down, till i do the cutting and put it in there, i'm not sure yet what to do.
ive also start adding some small bits of plating and again, i'm still not sure about it.

The plating looks great I don't see why the reservation, plus burners for fangs is going to look kick ass.
I am so glad you are not going to use the deffkopter pilot, it is so overdone in conversions you could just build your own guy out of Ork parts.
How is the driver going to be fitted ? if he is in some kind of cockpit you don't even have to use legs just build a console around him, now we know you can do it
Ok no grots but how about Orks riding slightly larger mechanical shrimps

I always love your work wazzoo, however on this occasion I feel slightly let down on the back design.
I think to get the spider feel you would have designed more of a bulbous back, maybe half a ball shape with opening's to allow firing points
I only say this as I know you are capable of so much more, I feel this will detract from the rest of the design which would be a real shame.
Sorry to sound like an ass but I want to be honest.

MrMerlin wrote:Very nice looking dakkas, waz! How did you do the ammo-drums? Need to know it, gotta build some for my miniguns!
The first thing I did was to find some thing round to draw around to make a nice drum size, a compass would work fine. I used quite think plastic card too. Once I made one side I made the other the same way, I then cut 2 small squares glued them all together with the squares in the middle. You will need to file the side down a little to make sure it's all the same.
Next cut a thin strip of very thin plastic card (this stuff is as thin as paper) this will rap around the outta edge, once glued and dry, trim and file. Now you should have a drum size mag.
Adding it to your guns is up to you, in my one I added a square edge and built it up, it's hard to explaine so I will make a TUT at a later date to show you guys, it will be like the dakkadakka TUT, but anit aircraft dakkadakka.
Hope this helps till then

How many of those kits do you own I mean you must be running low by now surly, I really like todays work, but I have one small gripe the wheels look a bit small in comparison to the truck.
I dont mean to be picky but feel it would look better with larger wheels, otherwise though great conversion have you any WIP please.

Its rare to see someone who 'gets' orks so well, you have literally achieved orky perfection.
There are a lot of ork modellers out there who just slap a bunch of plasticard cuttings on tanks and call it orky, im glad to say you are most certainly not one of them.

Thank you sir, you are too kind, but without being or sounding too big headed, i agree with what you say, there are loads of "Ork" modellers out there that just bang together with super glue and plastic card and call it orky with out a hint of it maybe working for real, when i build it i want it to at least look like it would work, never mind the ork willing it to work

im on about the roll bars and the back of the trukk, there's 2 of them, might get rid of them, and the stuff you think is GS is Millput, same thing but much cheaper and better, its comes in about 5 grades, and you get loads more too. How does milliput compare to greenstuff in terms of molding small details and extra stuff, like a gun or weapon in the hands of a boy or nob? I've only seen you use it for work on corners and plates really, but then again, i've only seen you work on vehicles, and not models.
36940
Post by: Anvildude
As far as I can tell, be careful with Milliput. The stuff I got is essentially lumpy play-dough, and stickier than molasses to boot.
15297
Post by: Ramos Asura
Ive used Milliput in the past and loved it. Milliput is not nearly as fine or malleable as GS (at least the Grey-Yellow stuff used here- there is a fine grain white milliput that ive never had the chance to try though).
It is an excellent structural component for plates and stuff, but small detail work is best left to GS. Everything has its place.
PS Trukk is looking boss!
39598
Post by: wazzoo2000
Guys, millput comes in 5 different styles, the yellow stuff i'm using is the cheapest, then it goes all the way to fine, which cost ££, green stuff is good, just from GW its ££££££££££ for a small bit, and when im working on big vehicles there's just never enough of it. i love millput, i was brought up with it, but thats my own reasoning Automatically Appended Next Post:
all under-coated, ready to paint, i really like the look of this one, i went for a bigger cab, and a chunky front.

loota boy wrote:How does milliput compare to greenstuff in terms of molding small details and extra stuff, like a gun or weapon in the hands of a boy or nob?
ahh sorry i should of been clearer, it is only my opinion, i can see Green stuff being very good at a lot of stuff, but there are other thing out there other than Games-workshop product, games workshop think they have whole market covered because all the 10 to 16 year old old buy GW stuff only, some one asked me what millput was not to long ago, and as far back as i can remember millput has be a modellers basic filler/modelling tool, way way way before green stuff. so please dont just think if GW dont do then no one dose it, that is not true, oh and its only a matter of time before you see GW platic card and Tubs.
only my opinion, please remember that, this blog is about tips and hints on MY modelling
love you all

Essentially, for all you who don't follow other P&M blogs- GS is Games Workshop's (successful) attempt to market up-priced product. GS is essentially Kneadatite (sp?)- there's also Grey Stuff, Brown Stuff, Milliput, Pro-Create, and a host of others; just look under 2-part modelling putty, and you'll find places that sell entire tubs of stuff for less than you'd pay for a roll of GW GS.

what i will say tho guys, is i dont get the arm with the drills on or the other things, it doen't take much to bring an air craft down, so sticking a mellay weapon on it makes no sence to me,
sir willian, your Bird would look so much better with out that arm thing, stick a shoota on both side of the rockets
and Fatty, i dont get how a drill will work on a plan will you crash it into the enemy i dont get it , take it off and stick some guns on it

Yay aerodynamics... wait a second.
This is awesome. You have really outdone yourself this time wazzoo. I love all the tiny details like the crack marks on the glass but my favourite part is definitely the giant horns sticking out the side. It just seems so Ork like

I love the plasticard patches on that one, they really meld in with the model well.
Can't wait to see what comes out your wazzoo next!

This may have been asked before, but do you use an airbrush or something?! Because you seem to not only pump out these minis, but give them a pretty decent paintjob in no time flat. How do you achieve this?

haha thanks guys, and no, i don't use an airbrush, i sometimes use a sponge for rust work and mud. i would love to learn how to use an airbrush, i guess its all about the more i use one the better i would be, but its just getting started with it

LOL waz.... so spiteful! Experience has taught me that most people don't read what I write... they just look at the pretty pictures and ask away, even if what they ask is covered in the text immediately above or below the pic... or in the thread title for that matter.

update.............i did paint this a while ago, but i used a gloss varnish on it (i was trying to get a wet snot look), which made it look dog sh t, so i had to dull it down abit, this is not what my Nurgle army is going to look like, but its very close, im working on a chaos nurgle bike and a Rhino at the moment, also a big tank type Ork Anti aircraft gun thing, so will keep you guys informed of what's going down in chinatown.

Hey waz, I was wondering if you had any experience with satin varnish. Been working on my Necrons and I've noticed that the vehicles especially lose something when I hit them with a flat varnish. Unvarnished, they have a lot more life to them, I think because the slight shine of the paint makes them a bit richer in color and a bit more dynamic. So I've been thinking that a semi-gloss satin varnish might bring them back to life a bit. Do you have any thoughts?

show models, ie one's you don't play with don't varnish, in my experience varnish will take away the good looking paint job you've spent hours doing, ive not yet found a very good matt varnish, im trying an humbro one next week, ill let you know how i get on.

here's another TUT i've just done, hope you like, its part 1
Scratch Building a Tank Hull
First of all, i got some very thick plastic card, the stuff thats quite strong, i worked out how big my tank wheels and track where going to be and cut the card to size, if you buy a resin running gear from eBay like me then this part will test your modelling skills to the limit. or you could just buy a model tank and just use the running gear from that.
as you can see, the shape of my hull is already taking place and i've only make a couple of cuts, ignore the back part of my tank, i change the angle of the tank later.
now we add some support, its not rocket science, just make sure you know how big you want your tank to be, some time being OTT looks crap, i went for a big tank hull, but will add lots of guns and stuff later.
again more support and also the end bits to are tank hull. take note of the end of that support beam, i've roughened it up to give it a cut metal look, this will look good when painted.
now i've cut another piece to size and started to give the hull its more solid shape, you may need to play around with this bit, ie a file here and there to make it fit.
then i added some rivets, the more the merrier, just make them look like they're in a logical order and it will make it look like it was made by a pro. making the rivets is simple, just cut very small strips of very fine round plastic cut to size with a shape model knife
then do the other side, i then cut another bit of plastic card for the bottom of the hull, and giving it some shape, also doing the rivets again (i hate leaving the rivets till last so i've started doing them as i go, it saves so much time later on)
on this photo i've made 2 round bits of plastic card and stuck them on and added rivets, this type of thing is on most tanks, there oil drain access, it just makes it look good and made by a pro who knows what he's doing. lol
now for the top part of the hull, remember we are just making a basic shape at the moment, so we can work on this abit me later on. plus ive added some more detail at the ends.
these photos show what i've done to my hull, this is the back part of my tank, this is where i'm going to put an Anti aircraft gun, and at the front will go......................................
ok guys, thats part one, please ask any questions at the end of this TUT, and i will try to get back to you, this tank hull will be part of my ork army

You say things like oil drainage hatches make it look like a pro's work - it is the mark of a pro. Most people think that a box with wheels is a good design, and leave it at that. It's all in the details.
We're here mostly because you're amazing, and a great modeller/painter. Please, keep going.

PART 2
ok guys, this is Part 2, The AA gun Construction, but be for i start, i would like you to look at this, as much of it is the same http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/427960.page so if you get stuck, just look at the link.
ok guys, find some tubes made of the same stuff of plastic card, take something with you for scale when you buy it, i did and i always buy by eye. cut to size and with the out side tube drill some holes in it, if its for orks do it by eye, any thing else, use a pencil and rule
then stick them together.
this pic shows the barrel and body stick together, for the body construction please see the link at the start, it is quite simple.
ok the ammo drums, first thing i did was grab my compass, i then draw the top half, and moved the compass maybe 5mm down and then draw the bottom half, make sure you have a good size, you don't want it to look crap.
then i trimmed it with my model knife and filed it down, don't file it to much though as you will be filling it a bit more later on, all i'll say is work to your lines.
hopefully you will get to this
then i made some spacers, to give it a bit of size, just look at what i've done so far lol, glue these together
then glue the next bit on, get a thin piece of plastic card, cut to size and rap around the drum, it makes it easier if it's bendy, so use thin, see photo.
then glue on,
then i start making a bit that makes the drum look like its attached to the gun body.
now add rivets, do this like i have, try to put them it places that look like a rivet should go, if in dout, copy me.
next will be mounting the AA guns in part 3

I love the FW models. And that paint job is superb.
That said, I'm going to have to admit that I'd never buy forge world Ork tanks because honestly, I think I can model one just as well for a fraction of the cost.
Don't get me wrong! EVERY other army on FW is just as amazing as their Ork models, and I'd never even attempt to replicate them myself, but because Orks are so ramshackle and in my opinion, so easy to build, I could never see buying at FW prices.
