the vader looks stunning mordain! we have a more common version of that torch... a red and blue simpleton sadly... would love to have a vader instead! good buy!
i tested the rockit launcher... man that is just a fun gun...but for killing muties it is not really worth a damn... died three times and then i said...fugg^^ and changed to regular weapons^^
anyway... i worked some more on the knight and the cardboard titan... so here is me showing you some progress!!!
first the knight... i measured it tonight standing as is and it is indeed standing 22cm tall... just as max so kindly provided us with the correct height requirements...
and here the first leg of the way bigger titan... on one pic a standard bearer for better scale issues...:
note, the toes will be later on covered with cardboard of course!
and just for your information... no i havent been drinking wine for all these corks... my wife got them from a parent of her work... she works in a nursery school and those cleints brought them from their restaurant to give it to her for creative use...stencils and other stuff...! ^^
Nice work, not sure about the cylindrical shape of the larger titan's legs, but I think some rivets will clear that up... and the banner bearer appears to be going "THAT *pointing* is not what the toes will look like!"
thanks shrike^^ well i got those tubes from my wife... she brought them with her some days ago... and i wanted to build something with them... i see angled legs woould probably be easier... well...
i think i will add later on some kind of shin guard...the look as it is too bare for me too... as for the toes... and the footbase... it will be worked with... i need to cover the toes and make them attached to the foot too... there will be more mass coming up soon... it will generally speaking fleshed out!
and the toes wont stay in that rounded shape either....your idea of a more coffin shaped look suits me just fine^^
shrike that is fething hilarious thank you for making my unhealthily gak day slightly better
Vik you so missed out that match up on those 2 songs was spot on and in some very strange way works
Well, I will never have the need to play Fallout as it has taken me …… well till know to catch up and I believe I know almost every aspect of the game
Going back to your work Vik yes the 3 updates that is was hoping for more but hey, looks like the base work is done know the need to start detailing is upon you
You should actually click it- I wouldn't just post the whole yoube vid so people could see what it is, I'd post a link. This is actually fethed up with what the guy did
shrike wrote:You should actually click it- I wouldn't just post the whole yoube vid so people could see what it is, I'd post a link. This is actually fethed up with what the guy did
One version of it was only a B-side from a single I think.
Automatically Appended Next Post: ..for you younglings who don't know what a single is, it's what we had to buy back in the day before we could download a single song from an album.
Actually, a Single is more than just that. It's from back before CDs, before Cassettes, before 8-tracks. It was a small vinyl disk, imprinted on both sides with textured grooves which, when a needle was slid among them, would produce a small sound that could then be amplified. Singles usually had to be run at 45 RPMs to keep the sound the right pitch.
number of the beast on vinyl? Damn, how much I would pay for that... (and a player, of course ^^)
I have a whitesnake/rainbow/deep purple compilation on vinyl, as well as some more rock "oldies" which I like less...
but I really want stairway to heaven, bat out of hell and free bird on vinyl...
LOL...i posted tonight on your thread first ...awsome work of yours... hopefully you are able to have a look at my swift following update too^^...
fatty... don´t fear the reaper...er...titan...er...knight for today^^...
at shrike...what other movies from your grandparents time are you referring to beside marx brothers? or feldman movies?
not to upset you dave, but i never bought me a single in my life... some maxi cd´s back then and otherwise mostly full album cd´s... my musical interest got sparked during my military time... before that only radio... after that mostyl radio again^^ so no real need for me to put in any cd´s nowadays...exept when i do the dishes...then i need some AC/DC... you really have to try that out... dishwashing to highway to hell or back in black... now that is some cleaning with feeling!!!^^
anyway... i thought this was a thread for building and painting things... so i better start with showing things i stuck to other things...which some people might call building^^
here are the nominees:
full shot above...
below...WIP boiler with two big smokestacks...
here will be the head attached soon...
and these are the arms... with clawlike hands...
note...once this build is completed the whole model will undergo a massive GS work... to create the right surfaces and amount of detail... hopefully i am able to get that done as planned...
Viktor von Domm wrote:at shrike...what other movies from your grandparents time are you referring to beside marx brothers? or feldman movies?
...then i need some AC/DC...
basically just Marx/Feldman ^^
and who doesn't need AC/DC once in a while?
robot looks cool, though I think the smoke stacks could do with some holes along it... apart from that, as long as you add a few armour plates/rivets for detail, I don't see much wrong with it ^^
it will definatly have a hunchback look! that for sure! and the handcannon i have to do once i work with GS... reamins to be seen how so... also a CCW is needed... if that will be some kind of chainsword... we will see too...
by the way... that gun looks more like a giant sized scope to me...is he a voyeur?
at shaso... you have to decide now...one big one or many small barrels??? you can´t have everything...maybe a shoulder mounted rocketlauncher tho...^^satisfied?
at shrike... yep you certainly have a point there... beside...would be much easier to do...of course a powersaber then...^^
...whatever, as long as it fires large caliber rivets, which also have a payload of smaller cluster rivets!
that sounds quite good...tho for the last part i dunno how to sell that...how to make it look like if it could fire these...?

fatty wrote:sweet concept. i had the same idea with Rusty only i put the barrel at the end of the arm instead of on the hand.
it was a quick decision today... before that i was thinking along that line too...but my wife provided me with those clamps for cable securing and then inspiration hit me^^
LOL That WAS his scope - he transformed into a gun (Which then shrunk to fit in Soundwave's hand somehow)
..He always missed
Apparently Megatron didn't have V.A.T.S. installed!

LOL... yep...he was a looser^^
shrike wrote:Whaddya mean, like a shotgun type weapon, only with rivets? I can see that working, though how to model it...
exactly... now off you go and do a good research for that one...^^
Not much I could find that actually fires rivets as opposed to just putting them in metal using a gun-like object, but I found this from bioshock:
and also a rivet gun from dead space (space and rivety ^^)
Automatically Appended Next Post: "Rivet Gun" , it could just be the name of an epic weapon, doesnt really have to shoot rivets. Like "Maria" or "That Gun"
I love the jackhammer-looking thing tho! That's a great idea for a CCW!
And Vik, remember, just keep building up with small details here. You've got the main body, the support structure figured out. Now, add detail, layers of cables and pistons and wires and struts and armour, piece by piece, and you'll have something amazing.
shrike wrote:Aye, so what's the main gun going to be? Some kind of 2-shot blast weapon?
well... i gotta pllay with some stuff tomorrow and see what it will yield...
dsteingass wrote:An homage to Saint Rosie the Riveter?
actually i wanted to use that character sometim soon... could you picture her likeness on the shoulderpad of the knight? like some way oversized tatoo?

that is the plan to the letter!!!! i think this will test some limits of my abilities quite good... but i guess i can get some new expierience out of this build too...
by the way... what is my project doing in your hands?
Nice work on the titan really taking shape Vik, amazing how quickly it comes together (unlike my grot tank )
You know I have decided to try and change my job just so I can catch up with these threads as it happens …… It takes me half the bloody night to catch up
you didn´t seriously quit your job for dakka... now that would be worth a DCM donation...^^
well... your night on dakka starts...mine has to end... last night i went to bed at 03:00 and my wife was not amused..., what can i say...she´s my queen...so i have to keep her amused...
for your information...that last pics series is showing the knight...i actually begun to build a titan but that will be for now a sideproject... something to get my hands in while the other piece needs time to let the glue cure... but hopefully this will look good once fuinished...tho finishing it is the main thing here as i have seldom finished something while here on dakka^^ too much interupting inspirations flying around like a loose cannon^^
Project's coming along. Unfortunately, right when I got it everything in my life started deciding to become difficult, so I haven't made as much progress as I had hoped. However, should have the first mold done by the end of the week, and we'll see if the first cast comes out well.

Sorry Vik I meant knight not Titan It was a late night and a gak day at work ( Big Surprise there )
To be fair I would give up my job for a bag of my dogs turd ……….
But it would be nice to be online when stuff happens rather trailing hours behind …… the puns and jokes i miss out on
LDD... gonna miss that later on too... when work finally hits me i think i wont be in as often as i would like....
and i don´t think unemployment is something worth looking forward to...tho it doesn´t hurt to speak freely with your stupid bosses...after all they probably could use a good talking to once in a while!
at shaso and rawson...
i think i have quite a few bitz and odd ends and also enough raw materials lying around for that... btw my work is always a combination of both anyways^^
oh...and for a minor derailing update... finally i have reached the sacred lands of rivet city... quite confusing to walk through that city... till i found out about the signs...^^
interesting storyline... by the way... at the lincoln monument i killed all those nasty slavers... i really hate those and even if i miss out on the exp points for those quests probably it felt good to shoot them... there are a certain kind of people i even can´t stand working for in a videogame^^
You can still do the quest to help the slaves if you kill them first. was there a quest tied to helping the slavers?
I have been doing FONV DLCs lately having never played old world blues and one other I am finding that the writing on this one doesn't quite hold rivets for me.......
But the lobotomites are tough thats for sure, especially when they swarm you......
Yeah, the stupid robots talking in Old World Blues was enough for me to click EXIT GAME, almost the most annoying thing in Video Games IMHO.
Yes Vik, you just need to go to the Temple of the Union, north of DC to get the quest. They will then walk from there to the Lincoln Memorial and take it over. You'll also have some quest to get a picture of the Lincoln Memorial in the history Museum. In there you can find a Lincoln Coin collection, an action Abe figure, Lincoln's voice recording, and Lincolns Repeater (a cool .45 cal rifle)- you can then sell these things to the freed slaves if you want for good profit.
You'll also randomly encounter escaped slaves in the wasteland, which you can help them get to the Memorial too
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and for some more good slaver killing action, check out Paradise Falls.
well it seems i should later on start a new game and do it from there then better... for now i act on instinct... the memorial slavers i met there and they assigned me to get some documents from abe lincoln... well i got the book, but i felt damned if i gave it to them to stop the slaves from thinking they could be free... so i put a good 44er bullet courtesy of yon abraham lincoln repeeter gun in the boss head... after that it got pretty bloody for them.. not for me...actually i had much messier fights before...
currently walking through rivet city... also i was already to the purity project on my own...to no aparent use but it sure did some exp^^
by the way... anything special i should do in that city except visiting li?
Paradise Falls is always so bloody when I visit it, not matter which side I'm on. Someone always starts a fight (when I'm evil and they don't give information whoever it is gets a revolver shot point blank to the head).
I just go in there and start shooting right away, not even any conversation!
yarp! that´s the way...i just had a bit of a weak moment then and let them have a talk... that russian scewer i shot at point blank after talking to the redhead in that house...you know that guy named D...(dunno)^^

I will not have finished my Mordheim board yet, and I will be forced to start Necromunda xD
ha! sideprojects is my middle name^^ i think jioning this warband of disatractors here at dakka was both... a blessing for inspiration and guidance as well as a threat to ower my attention span and get disatracted by the merest showing of sweet new models and new ideas...
lol...sorry no updates today... i had the arms put into place today... then i was in the mood to begin some work on them so i pulled one out...well the shouldersocket got ton out and twisted off... back to the drawing board^^ but i hope i break my GS out tomorrow so that will be then fixed!
well with all those nice looking and cheerful grinning robots out there you are bound to have the odd revolution going on... it is rather obvious... narrative causality...like weeping clowns...
might i restate something said by a great rivet follower-"I.. have a dream, that one day, a Rivet will not be judged by its size or state (liquid/solid) but by its rivetting nature!"
so remeber, tree revets, dino bone rivets, chemical rivets, they are ALL rivets and should be treated that way
equal rights for rivets of all kinds! death to the enemies of rivets!
but who are the enemies of rivets i hear you ask. the rivets have a lot of enemies like tau, eldar, dark eldar but let us not forget our greatest enemy.
for all other enemies can be converted to the use of rivets. our greatest enemy cannot.
ok... since i am not able to do any detailwork... i could bring myself today to start the GS work... i instead went the shifty way and worked on the base...
i decided that the feet looked akward for me... looked y bit like a horseshoe to me... so i cut up several wine cokrs i had into rubble and glued them to the base...then i mixed a special sauce of PVA water and sand into a nice paste... and the generously apied that mix to the base... in essence raising the groundlevel around 1.5 cm on avaerage of the base... and this is now how the base looks...(note the small hand... my so felix wanted to test the stickyness while i was taking the first pic^^)
till it is cured the whole base rests it´s yucky behind in this plastic storage box... later on i have to be able to clean it up a treat... it´s my wifes favorite food box....
Vik you are either very brave ……. Or completely bloody stupid your wife's favourite lunch box ( no puns please ) and you filled it with broken corks, sand and glue LOL EPIC!!!!!
I thought the feet were just the starting blocks for further detail I think they need to be larger myself he may look a little unbalanced other wise IMO, the rest is taking shape nicely but you need a shot with the head attached
One mans junk is another mans treasure ………. so they say although these days that term could have a completely different meaning.

mate... you are very spot on with your assumption to the feet... they will get biggerized! i have two toes each in the front and one on the back for each feet... these then get detailed too...
and also spot on for the demand of the head glued on pic... currently uplaoding just that!

note: the neck will get some GS work done too...so don´t feer it´s current weedy look...^^
Vik That looks well not Good ……. It looks fething AMAZING
I have to agree the head positioning is great, the look of destruction and menace to it.
Even in this early stage I am getting the feel of this, however a little nit picking he looks nocked kneed, I would imagine this will be readjusted later but ruins the feel slightly in the picture.
I know it will be sorted but just alters the feel when looking at this killer and thinking has he got rickets …….LOL
Baiyuan Nice link Lego land raider toys that kick ass
Just watched the whole clip great job …..,. but those poor Orks I WANT LEGO NOW !!!!!!!
OOOH, I love the shaping of the head.... I was kinda worried that the Bionicle Mask would look too recognizable but it is very distinctive..... I love it...
mxwllmdr wrote:OOOH, I love the shaping of the head.... I was kinda worried that the Bionicle Mask would look too recognizable but it is very distinctive..... I love it...
I think it has turned out well sinister, menacing and slightly evil, plus once the paint job hits it will look even more unique.
also, that's not including the 42 ghouls I took out elsewhere in that cave system... not bad, taking out 86 ghouls and using only 4 stimpacks... those supressed snipers and stealth suits come in damn handy sometimes...
...then lobbest thy holy hand grenade of antioch, towards thy foe, who being naughty in thy sight, shall snuff it.
nice killing spree shrike... makes me quite optimistic for the youth of today^^
thank you all for the comments of the head and it´s positioning... that was the look i was aiming for...seems i it the nail on the head...hurhurhur...
i agree, the knee positioning looks a bit as if he had a kick in the unmentionables... atm i have not started the oh so long promised GS work but i hope i can fix that with said aplication...
and thanks baiyuan... lego tanks... still a kit lego should invetigate in producing... i think there is a major demand...but somehow they don´t respond to this...
atm i am working on a sabre as suggested by shrike... the blade gives me some trouble and also the handle... but tomorrow i am hopefully able to present the fist glimpse of it´s form...cross fingers for me^^

Hence the economy of war, but the perk "scrounger" I think it is, been a while since I took it, let's you find more ammo in containers. Treasure hunter allows more caps. My FO-3 character found or was able to buy up to over 50,000 rounds of 5.56mm alone!
yup...you have to use a bullet for a whole company...(if you read that right...then one bullet for the ceo of any named company would suffice^^)
and shaso...i am now well above lvl 10 and have since then used the scrounger perk too... but 50 grands of 5,56?? that sounds a bit much? or do you get another heavy machine gun with more power than the 5mm one?
I tend to wander round with my ranger sequoia (118 DPS) or my trusty fire axe, and when it gets to a serious fight I either pull my anti-materiel rifle, riot shotgun or shishkebab, depending on the range.
@Vik, the special Chinese AK that you get by the computers in the museum, you can do it when you go for the dish for 3-dog.
all prime numbers, then go to the diner where the message maker's corpse is, the Xuanlong Assault Rifle. It eats bullets but is sooooo good!

after reading the weapons stats and description i think i have to solve that quest... i have abondoned that one because i couldn´t see through the quest...now i must try that again^^
Ah yes, it's his back... I gave him the aggressive brain too, though I tend not to use him- every time I line up a shot, he bites the guy- I prefer to go solo, or with a ranged companion, like boone or cass.
There's a button which puts you in third person, for PC it's the "R" or "F" key (can't remember if I changed it to F or if it was default), just hold that and move the direction controller (where your character looks/faces), and you should be able to view your guy from all angles.
well... i had a nice happening... when doing the quest to get the stuff out of the rotunda ...you know for that artifact of american history...(forgott the name^^) there you get a sidekick... she later on gives you that special 10mm smg... and i did that talk about her fathers note three times...and get the SMG THREE times!!! nice glitch^^
mxwllmdr wrote:I got that gun five or six times and shot her in hte head before we did the quest.....
What is the Knights base made of, Vik?
short answer is Gunk.
long answer is...

I just snuck in 3 heavily modded magnums, 3 small pistols 2 laser pistols, a plasma pistol, a sawn-off shotgun, several pounds of C4, 4 knives, 59 sticks of dynamite, over 100 grenades, a ripper and 40 throwing knives into a casino. Security's too damn tight round these parts, I couldn't sneak in my sniper or RPG...
As for the special 10SMG? I made her wait and did all the robo-killing myself, went back, got her and spoke with buttons. You can keep some of the NPC's safe by keeping them held far enough back so they don't do that stupid thing and get killed easily.
If you tell Buttons that you are Thomas Jefferson, he just gives you the Declaration of Independence.
.Speaking of Jefferson, I found some Presidents PEZ dispensers at Wal Mart too, they will make great statue busts for the wasteland!
yesterday i watched zombyland and terminator II so i had my hand s full of tortilla chips and cola...^^ no time for chatting with you my friends...(my wife was too tired so i slumped in front of the telly the whole night...)
at shaso... i did that too... and let her stay from harm...and you know what? after all was done and we went back to rivet city she then decided after the quest was done to go back to underworld... i even met her with only one remaining HP on the way... and she was not able to get healed by me... so i expect her to get killed sometime soon... seems the game engine wants her dead...

i think i have enough dakka^^ to some better energy weapons wouldn´t hurt mind you^^

nope atm i got kicked by FO3 again... after that my pc shuts down...then i have to relog into dakka... i am thinking of going to bed but not just now^^
well i played fable 2 and no problems there... and other numerous games... wow too... switched between game and web no problem...but sometimes all of a sudden the game and the pc freezes and then i can only reset...the thing that puzzles me the most... why do i have to relog always to email and ebay and dakka after a reset? what´s the point? i thought the cookies would stay???

Graphically, FO-3 is very memory intense.
Oh, you forgot to click the "remember me?" options to stay logged in even when away it should remember you, and auto-log.
nono... that option i have klicked on always... but after an emergency reset i have to relog again...if i switch off the computer ( shutting it down or whatever that is called...) i can easily surf dakka ...
