You just need four jungle tree saplings to grow a giant tree.
Automatically Appended Next Post: As an aside, I FINALLY got my giant mushrooms to grow to the right size, so I'm at the second to last story of my shroom biome house.
Y=106 or so. One more level and I'll be too close to the skyline to bother expanding more.

I've called it a night for tonight, but you're (or anyone is) welcome to help if you want to.
I've been gathering sandstone from where the desert meets the swamp in the east (you can see the hole on the map). Wool obviously comes from the sheep below the sign.
The frame is 2 blocks thick sandstone all round and five blocks deep. While the face of the sign is 1 block deep sandstone with 1 block deep black wool lining it. Or you can just see what's there and match/extend it.
If you do work on it, keep any upper surfaces lit up well (no need to light up walls) or there will be mobs falling on you or others below.
Initially he asked, then once he knew we all started talking about our projects and such. When they opened the multiplayer server up it was only natural for this thread, which had by then become a general Minecraft thread, to shift focus again to be predominantly about the server.
Which one is it? The lake with the sphere, or the ocean south of it?
If it's the latter, I'm honestly thinking that it should probably be moved elsewhere so the temple isn't ruining the view from the artificial jungle biome.
Going by what he said it' the ocean that island is in. But, the ocean is pretty big so it might be able to fit in the middle of it and not even be visible from the jungle given the tree cover and all.
I am going to rejoin soon, when I come back on, I will do two things. First is installing a skybridge from buckland to the Arena, (working on a fall preventative) I am planning on having a water ramp to stop falls rather than a fence, However, if people don't want a skybridge, I can put up a wee tunnel or freerunning path up.
Grundz wrote:I have begun the process of the staging area of the temple of terra in the large ocean to the south of the large sandstone globe (biccats)
if you have any structures in this area let me know, this thing will be monolithic and will take up a majority of that ocean when I am done.
Not sure if you're talking about the same ocean as my globe, but please don't build there if you can avoid it.
If you're referring to the one at the bottom of the map bordering the snow biome, I've got no problem, although it sounds like Mel might.
As long as it's as far from the island as the desert is to the north, it will not be visible on "far" view distance, if I recall correctly. I'd have to double check in-game though.
as long as the island stays nessled inside that bay, there's no way i'm going to build that close to the adjacent continents so it should be a non issue
Oh but we were going to add propellers and set sail!
Heh, yeah, I figured that it was out of range, I just wanted to help point out that distances on the map are usually further than they look. See the size of land biomes compared to the size of that ocean for example.
Divide the overworld position by 8. When you use a portal it looks and sends you to the closest, if there isn't one in range it creates one. This means you have to build one in both places in order for it to work properly.
You asked that no one build within one far render distance of you...
Is this because you don't want to be seen or you're building some kind of super-mega-ultra-dethray (patent pending)

Though i do have an access tunnel to the surface.

If it's anywhere near the ocean my sphere is in, it's mine.
Here's one of the two possible setups for my shroom biome's final level. The idea is to fill most of the walls with glass panes, and have 2x2 or 3x3 glass panels on the roof, creating an observatory of sorts. Hopefully this thing doesn't stick out too much for everyone else taht's in the shroom biome.
What else would I use? It would be impossible to use mushroom because the shroom wouldn't grow right. STone or stone brick would be kinda bleh, and cobblestone is right out as ugly in most peoples' texture packs. Regular brick would contrast too greatly with the shroom, as would netherrack (mine is blue, yo!)...
So, after having my Windows 7 completely crash on me (and losing a week's worth of work on my RPG) I said Screw it, and installed Ubuntu instead. Just figured out how to get Minecraft going on it, so Yah!
Hey all! Myself, JamesGurney100, FM_Ninja_048 and Darkinnit went to the End and slew the Dragon! With a stack of arrows each, we destroyed him. I brought a piston and took the Egg home. Of course it will be put in the Museum for all to see!
I'd love to battle the dragon- I'll be the grenadier! Splash healing potions, and splash damage/poison! Slow!- actually, that last one would be incredibly useful, along with Weakness potions.
Also, Dark, a tip for when you're doing cameraman stuff is to use the Function command to get rid of your HUD. I think it's a toggle on f5, or f6.
I thank whoever made the passage to the shroom biome but I 'm still gonna have to change it to make it one higher. Two high tunnels make me feel claustrophobic and give me eye strain....

he's stole a stack of glowstone, gold, one and a half stacks of iron. 5 diamonds, 15 tnt, 2 enderpearls. pretty much all of my valuables.
No idea, he seems pretty new. Not as new as you though. If you haven't yet I'd PM Dark about it, keep in mind an accusation like this is sort of serious so you need to be 100% on it.
I did not even realise there was an end, I just built a tower then dug a big hole underneath it and assumed that was all there was... Now I am going to need to go back in and explore
They're underground and need Endereyes to activate. Good thing is if you use an Endereye it will float in the direction of one for a short while before dropping and becoming a pickup.
That is an intensely useful video, thanks. Seems like a pretty big task though and as I have only played solo I think I may have to get my buddy to get the game before I try to find it... and maybe take up flying....
Anvildude wrote:Also, Dark, a tip for when you're doing cameraman stuff is to use the Function command to get rid of your HUD.
I know how to hide the HUD :-) I deliberately left the hud on because otherwise hiding it also hides the chat. The enderdragon fight is quite boring if you can't see what people are saying to each other, otherwise it's just a lot of waiting for the dragon to come into range.

Tthat was me, it's fine I wasn't sure if I should do it three, but the extra hassle it would of caused made me choose two, I'll give you a hand to change it.

"The End" is a specific location, like the overworld (where you spawn) or the Nether.
To get to the nether, for example, you need to construct a portal (not in the crafter, actually build one):
Then use the flint and steel item to start a fire in the portal. Step in, and you enter the nether.
To get to The End... it's a biiiit more complicated.
Spoiler:
-- You must hunt down Endermen in the overworld to get at least 12 Ender Pearls. ---- Endermen are found in dark places in the overworld where there is no water and at least 3 meters of space in height. ---- IE, you won't find them in a 2x1 or 2x2 tunnel. Yes, the sky counts as "at least 3 meters of space", they will in the open at night. -- You must hunt down Blazes in the nether to get at least 6 Blaze Rods. ---- Blazes are found in Nether Fortresses, specific terrain features in the Nether. -- Craft the Blaze Rods in to Blaze Powder (one rod = two powder) -- Craft the Ender Pearls and Blaze Powder in to Eyes of Ender. -- Go to the overworld and find a Stronghold. This is the hardest part, as they are quite rare. ---- You can use an Eye of Ender to locate the general direction of the nearest Stronghold. ---- Be careful though, as this can sometimes end up destroying the eye! ---- Make extra eyes if you plan on doing it this way. -- In the Stronghold, find the portal which looks something lke this in the default skin. -- Use the eyes of ender on the empty portal blocks to activate the portal. -- Jump in. You're now in The End. ---- I hope you brought lots of arrows and a good enchanted bow to kill the Enderdragon!
The End also isn't a very pleasant place, it's full of Endermen, it's made of End Stone, which is apparently very blast resistant, with pillars of obsidian. Not to mention the massive pissed off dragon who inhabits it.
EDIT: Looked like I just mashed my palms on the keyboard.
Well, the egg is in my inventory, so getting it there shouldn't be a problem, I don't know how the egg reacts outside the End, once its placed, its placed, I don't want anything happening to it, like teleporting back to the End or something.
Also, I made the first house in the End. I'm selling Endstone for those who want it.
It stays place, but importantly to remove it again you need to use a piston again. If you have silk touch (which I'm assuming you might due to offering to sell Endstone) I'll buy some mycellium from you if you have any to offer.
As for the dragon, hopefully it does get spawned from the egg in a later update. On another server I go to we had a dragon hunt by spawning one in a mountain range, town and tundra. They easily destroy an area the size of the manor.
End Stone was introduced in 1.9Pre3. It originally could only be successfully mined with a Pickaxe, dropping Cobblestone like normal Stone. However, mining the End Stone with a pickaxe which has a Silk Touch Enchantment would yield an End Stone block with no nametag if you moused over it. This has been fixed as of 1.9Pre5. Prior to 1.9Pre6 there was no way to leave the End with this block in Survival Singleplayer Mode. As of version 1.0.0 you are able to leave the end with End Stone and it can be mined with any pickaxe. Ender Dragons cannot break Endstone.
Anvildude wrote:I keep telling you guys- Silk Touch isn't a level 50 only enchantment! You'll have better luck doing 3 level 16 enchantments than a single level 50.
Level 22 is the best odds (lowest experience cost) if you are enchanting a diamond pick.
The highest odds of getting silk touch on a diamond pick is at level 50, but you'll spend a lot of experience (while saving on diamonds).
For gold, you could enchant level 1 or 16 (IIRC), although that would take a lot of gold.
Gold is about 150% more enchantable than diamonds (which are a little more enchantable than wood and stone) and can be farmed using the pigmen grinder, there is no excuse not to use gold really.
corpsesarefun wrote:Gold is about 150% more enchantable than diamonds (which are a little more enchantable than wood and stone) and can be farmed using the pigmen grinder, there is no excuse not to use gold really.
Actually wood is more enchantable than diamond.
As is leather, for armor.
Even iron is better than diamonds for swords and tools (14 enchantability for iron, 10 enchantability for diamonds).
Stone is the absolute worst though for tools, and iron is the worst for armor.
Goes like this:
Armor: Iron (9), Diamond (10), Chain (12), Leather (15), Gold (25) Tools/Weapons: Stone (5), Diamond (10), Iron (14), Wood (15), Gold (22)
Ad Gold and Leather are both infinitely renewable, while Diamonds are a limited resource- you'd rather have things like Unbreaking and Efficiency on Diamond picks, and use Gold for 'special use' tools like Silk Touch and Fortune.
Precisely, you have double the chance (or you can try it at half the level and get an equal chance) of getting silk touch with gold and gold is WAY easier to acquire.
corpsesarefun wrote:Gold is still much better, 170% times better than leather for armour.
For enchantment. For ease of obtaining, no
Yes, you can farm gold, but ranching cattle is easier and provides non-poisoned food to boot, and a source of milk and (in the case of mooshrooms) infinite food as long as you have at least one of them.

I went on to do for the first time in a week too, someone built something right on the very edge of my house by 2 block, as well as destroying some of the stuff inside it :(
This game was the only thing in my life for quite a while, and now the game is finished it's crazier then ever! I have spent easily over 1000 hours on multiplayer. If you are creatI've and artistic you have to buy this. :d

I now have a blue sheep farm at my end of the nether tunnel. IF you guys want to go there and shear or breed a few blue sheep while I'm not on doing that, please feel free to do so. Just for the love of all that is good and sheepy, don't let them out, and don't kill them.
Actually yeah, if you want to shear any of the sheep, the payment is that you have to breed a new sheep. Hehe.
But breeding new ones increases the rate of replacement. I have five at the moment, the ideal number is twelve. I'm just saying if you want to shear them, breed another one. It's the price of admission.
I'm gonna have to create a fenced/walled off grazing area specifically for them and lead them out to it if I get twelve though. AT the momen they're merely within the castle walls, as it were, and it's enough space maybe, but it's still a bit cramped.
Actually I might end up creating a sheep farm that has twelve sheep of each kind of colorr if the sever wil let me (I don't know how that'll effect despawning issues). Just so I have plenty of wool to play around with.
Me and three others took it on over on another server a while back- 5 or so minutes in people started complaining that they were bored, so I blasted the ride of the valkyries down the mic on skype to them
Now, would Cheese be produced on a workbench, in a furnace, or with something else?
Perhaps you take a chest, put a fermented spider eye and 4 bucket of milk in it (with nothing else) and the next day you've got a block of cheese? That can be placed, like a melon block, and broken down into wedges of cheese.
Maybe a 'Cheese Chest'?
Crafted with a chest and something else (alchemy thing or workbench?)
Place milk in, after a period of time you get cheese, wait longer and get cheese that heals more hunger
Until you get extremely old cheese that gives you food poisoning
Damn you ifStatement! It's on a diamond spoon aswell, awesome. I'll take some mycelium if you don't mind, how much for five blocks? Also, could i have ten grass blocks too, I have plans...
RaptorsTallon, I have an exp grinder in my cave, if you want use that. All the equipment is provided for use, (stone swords) just replace what you break.
Don't know about valuable, but it is rare for several reasons:
1) It can only be found in Mooshroom biomes (which are rare and usually very far from spawn)
2) It can't be picked up unless you have the silk touch enchantment (which requires a lot of experience and luck to obtain)
That said, once it is placed anywhere, it will spread to any adjacent dirt blocks, so you only need to place 1 block where you need it...
Told ya! Enchantments are a lot more random, and can be found at much lower levels than everyone seems to think. 20 is generally enough to start getting multiple effect, and some at higher levels.

S***
We need guards!
And we need villagers believe it or not lol!
Will villagers move into new houses that you build for them?
If so I would like to request a few dozen once my castle (and surrounding town) is finished.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Unless feeding them grain causes them to bump uglies, in which case I'll lead them from the NPC village next to me and populate my place that way
World height is likely to be doubled in the next snapshot yes (they're just adding more air rather than raising sea levels etc).
However, they're also adjusting the world format to save biome data (weather, colourings etc) in the chunks. This is big news, as it means whenever they change the biome code (to add jungles for example) we can switch to the new biome generation code without ending up with swampy mountains or snowy deserts. We might still get the cliffs of version change, but existing chunks will now save their weather to stay correct when new updates come out.
If it works out as they intend, we might be able to get naturally spawning jungles without resetting the world. (But we might get the cliffs of version change between old and new chunks - but they can always be smoothed out in game).
Luckily not after significant construction of the titan is done. I'd wait to see how much of a difference it makes then change the scale a little to make a better one.
Melissia wrote:Yeah, it'st he ocelots that are important. They despawn unlike other passive mobs.
edit: ocelots disappear, I shoudl note, not cats.
I get why the disappear lol But cats are useful. Means Creepers won't creep.
Of course we need wolves now -.- and villagers.
And then we can start breeding whole armies of wolves! ANd Cats! so that everyone will ward away creepers. And zombies will die in the thousands muhahah.
Plus iron is now a renewable resource.
Melissia wrote:"Biomes are saved per x/z column, which means they can be altered by tools"
You can perhaps change the proposed island in to a jungle island then, still letting us build the jungle there?
This would allow us to have a jungle closer to spawn, after all.
It could be a possibility, but I forsee some problems with it:
1) I dislike messing with the world data - don't want to cause corruption or other errors
2) I'd have to take the server down to do it and I have no idea how long it would take or how fiddly it would be
3) MCEdit is no longer being updated by the original programmer (although he has released the source, it will probably be a while before people can pick up the pieces)
It's still a possibility to change it to a jungle biome (so ocelots will spawn), but I'm just saying I don't want to get people's hopes up that I will definitely be able or willing to do it. Especially when we don't know how things will turn out just yet.

if they won't then automatic gold farm may be largely impossible.
but this gives me a chance to build it over a lava ocean or some garbage so occasionally all the pigmen wont spawn outside of the spawner

crusher doesn't matter, you use pistons to shove them off a ledge, its very fast and effecient if you can stop mobs from spawning outside of the contraption

Dakka lettering complete. I think it needs 1 block shaved off the frame on the right. I'm undecided on whether to add a "Welcome to" to the top. Think it would spoil it?
The "welcome to" would be much smaller and possibly in Minecraft chat font style (e.g. 1 block thick lettering). I might try some stuff out in single player creative mode, but I'll certainly leave it be for at least a week or two.
Thanks to felsi helping me gather more stone brick (yay), the first level of my the end habitat is finished, it now has a storage/crafing area and a wheat farm. Whee.
Now to go head back, grab some glass panes, and this time not use them on broken nether tunnel windows and instead save them to make this building look better.
Zombies are now going to drop random Iron items, including ingots, every once in a blue moon. But it means that Zombie spawners will have infinite iron.
Skeletons are doing the same with Bows, and Pigmen are now going to occasionally drop Gold Ingots, swords and helms as well.

you might need to build walls for them so they won't die.
They'll just spawn new ones later. There's a few reasons I called it The City of Ghost.
Actually at the moment their doors are what's keeping them in, maybe when I go to build the portal house I'll drop stuff in front of the doors to prevent them running off later.

be funny if villagers accidentally walked through the portal and teleported to the nether. "Theres no place like, theres no place like home."
So are mooshrooms actually able to spawn outside of the biome if you put down mycelium? Having a mooshroom room was sort of the whole point I was after the stuff.

Yeah, I think so... from the wiki:
Mooshrooms can spawn on Mycelium at a light level of 7+. Mooshrooms are the only mob that can spawn on Mycelium Mycelium prevents other mobs such as Zombies and Creepers from spawning in any light level both above and below in caverns

The additional plus side to using iron bars, as already mentioned, is that when broken, they produce an item.
While, given enough information, I can trace who is breaking glass in the nether, if they are breaking iron bars (producing drop items) this will be even easier to trace.
I'd say add more doors as likely that's what likely creates the little gaps for the ghasts in the first place, but someone would eventually just leave the doors open and defeat the purpose.

Precisely. If someone is running along the top and ghasts shoot (can they break iron bars?). The iron bars would fall into the tunnel or onto the ground, the person running along the top wouldn't get them or if they did, they may be kind enough to repair the damage.
A person running along breaking iron bars intentionally would probably be collecting them all up....
Much easier to tell the difference between accidental and intentional damage.

Cool.
However, I've just thought, mobs can see through iron bars (zombies can at least, I'm assuming ghasts can too). Does this mean ghasts would fire at any tunnel you were in? Rails have quite a low blast resistance, would the splash damage be enough to break them? Would the splash damage be enough to hurt people inside the tunnels? There's only one way to find out....
Even if there is no damage or pain, it could make nether travel very noisy...

Ghasts will not fire at the player without a line-of-sight - this can be blocked by Glass, Glass Panes, Leaves, Nether Portals, Vines, Iron Bars, both types of Fences, and Cobwebs - making safe scenic paths through the Nether a viable possibility.
So yeah.. Janje built next to my base ages ago, and abandoned it, and so far it's been a ruins. I vaguely recall asking if I could demolish it, and getting permission, but that was ages ago so I'd like to ask before I get the demolition team.
Also note by the time you read this your property will now be condos.
I also replaced several sections myself, in a circular area around absolutionist's cathedral...
BIccat's by no means joking, we will need moer, so if anyone wants to donate, drop some iron blocks in to the chest outside said portal in the nether. It's quite close to spawn, don't worry.

Yes, it's nice that Notch no longer has anything to do with developing the game.

I converted another stack of iron blocks to bars. There's about 30 stacks in there presently.

Anyway, off I go to tkae a test, then I need to work on the post-lab report, then I need to work on the dnd game I have tonight, then tomorrow I need to finish my next chem homework and then prepare for my DH game... geeze I'm busy. I won't be on minecraft again until sat probably unless I get lazy and push something on to the weekend...
