I've got a couple chests left, and I have pretty much no use for it, if you want to come by the Mesa. It's on the way to the Lab- but the branch off is marked.
I'm mostly building on the Nether Ruins, so I'm making the paths three wide, three tall. Hope that's all right. Using a mix of cobble and netherbrick.
When I miscalculated the distance to the shroom biome, I decided to try and build a land bridge. It's a 1 thick drit path built on the highest possible level. It's also a huge eyesore and needs to be removed. Try as I might, I can't tear it down by hand. Dark, would you MCedit this abomination from our world?

I might have your solution...
Spoiler:
I've actually got a double chest full of dirt, but it's unlikely that will be enough. If that's enough (doubtful) take it, otherwise I'll use it to build a new flying island.

So you want me to take the server offline, download the world, MCEdit it, reupload it and bring the server back online, all for something you made yourself? I'm afraid that's a no.
I may go have a whack at it in creative mode if I'm ever really that bored, or if someone wants a chunk of it out of the way of their build.

I agree. Also most of my friends use the basic texturepack, and its nice to know that they will see my creations the same way I will see them, and vice-versa. Some texturepacks can make buildings look really ugly :(

Just remember, its pretty much a caverenous deathtrap one or two blocks underneath it...
I haven't checked since last night, but we had about nine stacks left, of which I took about three I think, I've been busy finishing unfinished tunnels. Will check later.
To all concerned with Buckland hall, I am about three quarters finished the basic runway to the arena. Lining with the glass/sand system will begin shortly after.
I've got a Zombie Spawner in my Soulforge (that's what I call the lava-filled Crevasse beneath the Mesa) but it's so close to the bedrock you can't set up a simple drop-grinder at it. Anyone have any experience with water grinder systems?
I kinda want to do something fancy with my spider spawner too- right now it's just sitting in the middle of the Mesa.

remember that mobs always swim upwards, so you can use signposts to hold single blocks of water in place and zigzag them, this will transport the mobs wherever you want them to go
Working on standardizing the pathway between the little 4oursword/Melissia/Grey Mesa hub and the rest of the Nether ruins. Anyone want some Netherrack?-- Though I suppose I could use it for a fire moat or something.
I want Gerbils in minecraft now... In deserts, digging tunnels, converting sand above them into a sand lookalike which holds it's position to allow for cool tunnels. They could gather, eat and be tameable with seeds, wheat and apples too...

I'll give you some diamonds, Jan. Not sure how many, but you can have a few.
IDEA TIME!
We find Jan's coordinates (I'm sure it's possible) We fill in the area he was in, forcing the game to move him to the nearest applicable space- generally on top of the obstruction. Jan reappears on top of a safety column, and survives the burning to walk away alive.

Ok, after some enlightenment I can appreciate why you got agitated Mellissia. I hope things get better for you and you can live with my presence enough to still play minecraft for a bit of escapism. So apparently someone filled my castle with glass... I'd like to know who did it. I don't care, but I'd like to know who can afford to throw away so much glass.
actually, anyone ever seen that 'ant farm' creative server in the old Minecraft Alpha? It was a full chunk filled with glass, and players just wandered about in it making tunnels in 3 dimensions.
For whatever reason, I keep getting the feeling that all these little thefts, minor griefing incidents, and everything similar, are all the work of a single person. They sneak on the server, when none are around, and get up to mischief, before skulking back into the shadows from whence they came, their business done.
Oh, and dark, I found out who reoved my sand stone it was ifstatement, but he did it thinking it was a mine, and he didn't want people falling inside XD
EDIT: Also, I've seen a few comments about people being annoyed about not being able to know what enchantment they're getting, I beg to differ, it's in the standard galactic alphabet:

It takes a snapshot, being live would likely take a bit of power and bandwidth anyway. Though there are programs out there that could probably do that.
After quite a break, I've finally acquired a comp that can allow me to limp back onto the server. Building a new one is in the future. Now just to find a new home...
Ladies and gentlemen, the New Dakka Trade District and Commerce Center is up and ready for use.
The only thing missing now, is some glowstone for the ceiling lights and some nether fence to go around the back of the center itself.
How to use the Center:
1. Remove a blank sign, or a sign you already have used, and replace it with,
Your Name
Items Looking For
Quantity
Items paid out (and if feeling clever, stick a ratio down!)
Example!
Janje2
Wooden Blocks
1x Stack
Coal
2. Remove the Torch, and replace it with a redstone torch to signify a new job.
3. if accepting a job, remove the torch above it completly, be it red or normal.
Could add in a system where you flick a switch to turn on a redstone torch to show that it's a new job, or if there's a new reply. Just saves on the eventual missing ones that are likely. Not that they're hard to come by.
Then I guess have an accepting wall set up the same, having each job numbered and the section for people interested in taking it on the other side where they leave their name and a basic offer. Gives both parties a little more of an idea, and I guess competition.
For the more common traded items we could work out their generic value and leave it somewhere, sort of like how the prices of shares are shown.
These ideas probably add needless complexity to it though, as usual.
So no one can tell me who owns the massive fenced off area at x: -1300 z: 90 ? Its west of the spawn, and its been untouched since day 1 of the new server.
I wanna build this bad boy there (obviously it will be prettier, its just the test version in single player) as its the perfect spot:
Spoiler:
But at the same time, I don't want to build there is someone owns it.
See, now it's getting a bit "annoying" that my portal no longer works because people built up around me and put in portals, and then suddenly there's some "Trade" thing with another bloody portal right next to me. It also doesn't help that it's a hideous cube.
MrDwhitey wrote:Can anyone help me sort my portal at some point?
It's not too difficult: take the X and Z coordinates and divide each by 8. Round down (not towards zero, down) and those are the nether coordinates you want. To be extra safe, use the Y coordinate as well (same between nether and overworld).
If your Overworld portal is at:
-158, 25, 269
then your nether portal would be at:
-20, 25, 33
As long as your portal is the only one within about 8-16 blocks of -158, 25, 269, you should connect.
MrDwhitey wrote:Did you build a cube with shrike and janje next to my place? If so, yes.
Evidently you don't know that I AM Janje2 ¬¬
Maybe instead of calling my cube hideous, you ought to keep your gob shut and sort your own bloody portal out instead of moaning and complaining about everyone else.
my Portal is EXACLTY on the co-ords. Yours is wrong. Sort it out man.... Honestly...
MrDwhitey wrote:The problem is, it is just a cube, and built right next to my place, inbetween two existing places. Why didn't you build it further away?
Cus i didn't realise what with it being a considerable distance away from you, that you hadn't placed YOUR portal correctly. My bad. Shan't happen again.
Nice passive aggressiveness. You never asked to build near me when you first built near me, and didn't ask this time. I apologised in game for calling it hideous, you proceeded to ignore that.
i didn't ask first because we both set up shop around the same time, and again i was a fair distance away, and as i said in game, you kept expanding till i had to move away.
This can all be solved, by fixing your own portal.

And it was kinda the same time. You were JUST starting to build things at the same time as me. You'd JUST Finished on building a sugar farm bit, and were adding cows.
Well this is just great! I traveled 2000+ blocks with two wolves I tamed and I have just logged in at spawn to find that they are dead! Whoever killed them own up now!
The farm I built has been griefed within the last three hours (currently GMT 1:44 AM) and a few of the other players have reported other shenanigans in the same time period.
I've got a half-dozen monster spawners, and I have nothing better to do with them. I'd like at least one to be usable as an experience grinder (got two Cave Spider spawners- those are apparently the best for that) and the Zombie grinder's already operational (though buggy as all get out). I'd kinda like to put together a lava-blade as well.
Anyway, another issue. Coolyo died and although i could see his stuff on the floor apparently he couldn't and when you ran over it it wouldn't pick up. He lost a lot of stuff apparently.
Only got a double and about a half of cobble from carving out the room for the garden. I'll check how much of it I can spare and get back to you about it, but I think about one double chest.

I can easily set up some gravity grinders for you, just show me the spawners and I can get to work. I can make it an exp grinder for you, then, if you don't want exp, I can set up an optional lava blade that can be turned on and off.
Still haven't found who killed my wolves yet! Please just own up! Also, just died in lava, by glitching through the damn floor in the nether walkway! Are my items refundable?

Awesome. They're all at the Mesa. I have a Spider Spawner right inside the main chamber that I want to work into a sort of pipe or factory looking thing. I'd probably have to show you the rest- they're all down in the Deeps.
Dark, I still need to figure out when to get on for you to port me so I'm not stuck in this block... or to get someone to break the block for tha tmatter...
I'm at the netherside portal tot he museum if someone wants to break the bottom two blocks for me.
bedrooms can be re-done when the rest of the house is actually built I'll make a start on said issues when I next go on ^^ also, you need to build a new member area
Dark, would you be able to spawn two sheep for me at my house? Only everywhere around me that spawns sheep within reasonable luring distance also spawns masses of wolves, so none of the sheep I find manage to survive the journey.

I guess I could do this now, provided I don't get yelled at for it. I'll just put them in a chest next to it with a flint and steel so you can fix it when you get out.
Edit: Instead of breaking it, I noticed that there were no blocks under the portal so I put some there. Should fix it.

Show me the wolves! I want them! Someone killed my own at spawn... I have bones, just point to where they are!
Just finished off converting an abandoned section of my mine into a bar at bedrock level. Sort of needs a name now, also only way really in or out is its own portal. Which is next to my one, putting it there meant I finally fixed up the area a bit so there's finally somewhat of a station there for the rail system. At the moment I'm just making it look better though.
I kind of like that name, beats the ones I could think up so I guess I'll go with it. Just putting the finishing touches on it, but it's open now.
Its portal is at X:10, Y:67, Z:-193 nether side, with a sign to mark it on the map as well (though that'd have to wait until the next update).
Easy enough to find as it's down the main path which the manor is on then a left right on the rail as it's at the top of the stairs to the "station".

Finally something else apart from Snow golems! now my village will have protection. Though that means i will need to funnel my zombie spawn towards the village i am building.
And the Golems mean more and easier Iron as well, since they seem to drop a few ingots each. Though they don't die from fall damage, which means they'll be harder to 'harvest'.
Iron Golems? Screw making pretend robots when we can have real ones. I guess this also will chew into the chest full of iron i have laying around...
The upside down stair thing is a nice addition as well in my opinion. Just started using them in a few things like the couches in the bar.
Automatically Appended Next Post: So my randomly created snapshot world is interesting.
Also as an interesting note, when I did find a village it had a chest in one of the houses containing some diamond, gold ingots and an iron helmet.

Well, they spawn when villagers feel danger, however they do that... So if you could trap all the vilagers then you could make a golum grinder using a lava blade to kill them. Thats what I'm planning for my NPC village. I'm guessing the iron drops will be nerfed though for the 1.2 release.
Thanks to Avatar720 for the wolves! I have sixteen wolves now!

No problem! Although I think you left one behind; there's a tame wolf beside my house and it isn't Fenrir, because he's upstairs, and not the one I tamed a few days ago in the middle of nowhere, because he ran off, neither is it my initial wolf that ran off somewhere, because it won't respond to my right-clicks.
I doubt it's anyone else's either, because nobody else (AFAIK) has been here.
Valuable Items Lost:
1 Diamond
~20 Redstone Dust
6 Gold Ore
7 Gold Bars
12 Iron Bars
1 Chest
24 Iron Ore
Bucket
Iron Pickaxe
Non-valuable items lost:
Stack of cobble
Stack of dirt
Half stack of rails
5 Fences
half stack of torches
2 swords
Stone Pickaxe
13 Bread
~40 Melon Slices
Where did you lose them:
In a mine
How did you lose them:
Lagging Creeper blew me up. I saw my items scatter before my client logged me off the server for reasons unknwon before I could opt to respawn. Upon re-logging about a second or so later, I saw my items still there and chose to respawn. After reaching the place where I died (in the mine beneath my house, does not take long to reach it), I saw no evidence of the creeper explosion, nor any of my items. I arrived well within the 5 minute despawn period.
Other Notes:
I don't claim for lost items very often, on this one occasion I was jumped by a creeper after leaving the mine to store my inventory, I did not knowingly take any valuable items save for the bucket into the mine, what valuables I gathered were mined whilst inside or retrieved from the two chests I found, one of which I picked up, meaning to pick up the second on my way out.

I can spare all of them valuables. I'll put it in the a chest by the spawn.
I'm not able to access that area very quickly, and i'm going to bed now because I need to be up at 7am for a tournament, so I suggest hiding it or keeping them safe until I can guarantee I can get there to retrieve them.
half blocks can go in the top of cubes! this is heavenly. Also, Id probs use a lava blade to kill the golems in that mob trap, water takes way too long.
For the one I linked he threw some dirt in and dropped cobble while working on it. For the golem one it was ingots as that's what they drop.
Also I might be a little slow, but I just realised how viable slab floors are now that the top half can be placed alone. No more floating off the floor stuff. As well as slabs making good tables now.

You're welcome to take a couple stacks from my house.
Sadly because SOMEONE decided not to replant at the spawn area I wasn't able to get much from its tree farm and I'm now short of quite a few saplings trying to plant there myself...
Hey everyone, I'm back from my week and a bit of radio silence. I hadn't intended to be completely silent for so long, but I didn't know I wouldn't have easy access to Internets while I was away.
Anyway, I've seen all the requests in the thread, but I also see a fair few of them being resolved too. If any of you still have any outstanding issues, please P.M. me and I'll deal with them when I can. I also have some real life stuff to catch up on, so don't expect immediate responses just yet.
Have you tried logging in with your username or instead, your e-mail address? I heard they were changing the login system to allow people who bought Cobalt to login with the same account.
Ok, my tree-farm is now open!
well, the temporary one is...
It can only do 5 trees at a time, figuring out how to expand it...
but, next up, is a public cobble generator, seeming I've seen none of them around the place
Thanks for the help on my sheep ranch-- it's almost done now, which is surprising considering how expansive it is and how many hills had to be created and destroyed for it. Gonna try otu tribes ascend now.
So, at around 2:00 EST I logged on for a little bit, just to get myself out of a cave I was wandering in. An apparently invisible creeper fell beside me and exploded. When I went back to get my stuff, I only collected a little bit of it before two more creepers went and blew up on it, nearly killing me and destroying all of it. About the only really important thing I lost was a bunch of logs and a lvl20 Enchanted gold helmet.
All I'm asking for would be 5 gold to make up for the helmet, and maybe a stack of logs. That'd be great, if anyone wants to donate, or Dark wants to check.
I'm currently working on a system of Towers radiating out from the Mesa, each at the edge of Normal view distance. They're basically meant as emergency shelters for those travelling and getting caught out at night, or with mobs after them. Fully stocked with everything you'll need to get back up to full health, if not full combat readyness.
I'm going to be mean and ask a few quick questions.
Number one, does anyone mind the glass tunnel formation near the arena? I am looking to do that from the arena to buckland,
Secondly, I am also looking for people to help with clearing out a zombie spawner, and make height killer ( going to be tough with a ravine beneath it).
Finally, I am also looking to swap 2 stacks of logs (raw logs) for half a stack of iron (32).
Anyone wondering where the National Bank of Dakka's front door has gone, i've got it. I realised I knew how to make the double doors work without requiring you to block one door off, but halfway through pulling it apart to get to work, I realised I lacked the 2 redstone dust and 1 redstone torch needed.
If anyone near the spawn has these, I can complete it.
There'se a relatively simple fix for double doors using pressure plates and about 4 redstone dust. Acidkiller uses in in his Let's Plays (I think it's Acidkiller. Could be Jevin, Littlewood or someone else).
