There's one that only needs 2 and a redstone torch:

If anyone near the spawn has these, I can complete it.

Okay, so far I have blue, light blue, magenta, and purple sheep penned up and bred to four each. Yay. Only twelve more colors (and 48 more sheep) to go.
I'm in two minds over updating sooner rather than later.
One the one hand, the snapshots mean the update has been thoroughly tested and the worst bugs ironed out.
On the other, the increased height and new world save format means the update affects the entire world. It may be better to let others catch any bad bugs first and wait for possible patches.
Having said that, we do have backups of course.
I think I'll watch the interwebs for any cries of bugs or world corruption and test it out on a copy of the dakka world on my test server this evening. I'll let you know when I want to take it any further.

Nah, I was planning on giving out fish (I can never get fishing to work in SMP although others say it works) and then release the ocelots nearby and you have to hunt and tame your ocelot/cat yourselves :-P
It's a delay issue really (I've launched fish before, people have seen them rain from the sky in the mushroom biome ). The bobber will stay underwater a bit you just need to reel it back it during that brief window where it still recognises it.
I remember the fun of my wolves and portals. They decided rather than warping they'd enjoy blocking off the portal until they get into a fight.
Melissia wrote:Or, Dark, if not everyone who wants one is on at the same time.
Yeah, I know, I have to be online to give them out.
(...unless I create some bizarre bedrock protected ocelot-egg dispenser powered by a sunlight detector hooked up to a timer so it only gives out an ocelot if I have a server script mess with the time in a certain way...)
Hidden ocelot egg chests in the jungle island when it's completed or even the world in general ? Could reset them once in a while I guess. Or it could be like that time with the chickens, I'm pretty sure cats will love fire too.
Not to mention everyone helping with the island could get one. By the way, when does construction on the island start? As I'm still in for it.
The undergrowth could be started on now, as that is just lots and lots and lots of sunken trees and vines at ground level. I don't think all trees in the jungle are the new jungle and giant tress, IIRC there were some plain oak trees there too.
Ooh, that "When killed by players" thing for the Zombies and other mobs- hope that doesn't mean what I think it means. I really want an Iron Grinder, dangit!

That didn't happen when me and wolf used a server run off my pc to test out the new height limit.
I stood up there for a while. A minute, possibly two. It didn't crash immediately. However, I did plant a sign and some torches at what should be above the height limit, that may have been what caused the crash, it's just the wiki mentions just standing there crashes it. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_history
speaking of which: dark can you setup a cool sign overlooking my temple and one overlooking the space marine? I tried like 5 times and they always seem to be really wrong.

I'll test some more, FOR SCIENCE!
I only hope it looked something like this when you said it.
I have developed.....the TNT proof Wall, without using obsidian! Make a single or double brick wall, leave a gap in the middle, and dig down approximately 5 blocks. Make another wall the other side the same height as the first. In the gap, put source water blocks inside, preferably have the outside be cobblestone or smoothstone for ease of replacement.
Your wall will never fall to TNT. The water absorbs all the TNT explosions, EVEN if the TNT is placed on TOP of the first wall and if the TNT is triggered in the middle, No damage at all. You still have one wall to protect your area, plus you have the water.

I can't test it yet (still at work). I'll test it this evening. Some people are reporting mob glitches (stuck in walls, or unable to be hit etc) but the mobs I encountered in 1.2.2 seemed fine. It was fun to watch a zombie look up at me where I was standing on an overhang, instead of just growling at the wall it turned to a hill a few blocks away, climbed up it and now at my level, circled back round towards me...
I was going to build up a newbie area when I get back on- basically a cobble generator at spawn, and I was looking forward to it. I also found a cool build site last time I was on, which I want to get to.
If anyone's coming towards the Mesa overland (or the Lab, I guess) I'm setting up a series of Emergency Towers stocked with little bits of food and such, that are pretty much mob proof- though some of them have wooden doors, there's plenty there to block it off from the Zombies.
They're within Far render distance of each other. And I can't wait for the upside-down stairs, 'cause then I can pretty them up even more.

Going so far so good with the testing. There a the cliffs of version change again at the borders between unexplored areas, however I have found a naturally spawning jungle, so I won't have to be online for you to obtain Ocelots...
I have found that trees don't sometimes appear, meaning you have to log off and on to find why you can't walk ahead (especially in the Jungle)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also vines seem to be very laggy (especially when being drawn - i.e. look away from some vines and look back - lag spike). So Jungles are very laggy too. Luckily you can get around this by turning graphics from "Fancy" to "Fast" and it no longer seems to happen.
Famous last words but I think I've tested enough things, I'll take the server down, upgrade it, start it in maintenance mode (it'll say you're not whitelisted), make sure it's all working and then let you all on.

Perhaps I should fix up bits of it and make it a tourist attraction.
Was it perhaps generated before the Testificates? It should be looked at as an Archaeological site! "And here, you see an example of pre-1.0 Minecraftia. Interestingly, it seems that in Minecraftia, the architecture evolved long before the homonids.

My friend pinoypower and I were thinking that we should start a dropbox system near every major area in the server. We could put a 3x3 red cross and a double chest under it that could be filled with food or supplies by passerby's. It would help to grow the community and make the land interesting.
I've got a design for an Emergency Tower that I've been putting up around the Mesa- it not only provides basic supplies and food, but workstations, storage and protection from mobs, while being easy to spot. If you'd like, I could show you the design (just needs a bunch of cobble, really) and could work on putting them up around other places.

I only have about 2 64 stacks of stone, but I'd be glad to see the schematics.
I know what you mean. I deliberately had to decide to start building my watchtowers, simply to get out from behind the Mesa's walls. Otherwise, I'd not need to actually leave there...

ifStatement wrote:someone put a black by the fence at the spawn wool farm to get out and now all the sheep have escaped. they are all over the desert.
Silly sheep, there is no grass in the desert. Oh well. I originally only made it as a temporary farm for the Dakka sign. It would also keep getting creepered too from fence hugging creepers. Your farm is much better anyway, so I'm not too bothered that the sheep from mine have gone off on their own adventures now.
My sheep ranch is finished. There are four of each kind of sheep (five or six of a couple colors), each in their own unique and clearly marked pen. The pen is walled off with glass and cobblestone using a wall design that prevents spiders from getting in, and it is quite possibly the most well lit area in the server.
Thus ends my most recent project. Feel free to use it, just bring your own shears and don't kill any sheep or break any glass.
I suppose that's really all there is to say on the matter.
It's small, but it should give the general idea. Mostly slabs though...
Windows give a decent enough view, but they could be swapped out with panes (or bars when you remember the nether tunnel system... ). If I had it to spare I would have also put some glowstone into the design, such as the top of the stairs at the entrance. Additionally some lighting source inside instead of the torches.
Came up with a new road design based on something I saw on a youtube video (in this case it is also a bridge).
Wood slabs are so much more useful now, you get twice the horizontal distance wtih them compared to wood planks. The stone brick staircases on the other hand are a pain to make but they compliment the slabs nicely.
It leads to my next construction, a stone brick and glass tower with a stone brick slab staircase around the outer walls, which will function as a place for me to toy with wool inside, as well as being my first skyscraper in the new skybox.
Ok guys, someone has stolen from me in a huge way, all of my stuff is gone! In my vault, I keep all of my valuables and when I logged in recently they were gone. This happened between half six and ten pm GMT. I had a full double chest of lapis, glowstone, diamond and slime balls amongst others. Dark please find this person!
I can't name off all of my items in the chest, but I know I had alot of iron, diamond, glowstone, gold, slimeballs, lapis lazuli blocks and I can't remember what the rest was, it was all in my cave under my house where my spider grinder is.
I was on when Horde found out about it. He was rather upset- unfortunately, there's probably no way for him to pinpoint the time.
And @Deathklaat, what you need to do is place the slabs on the bottom of blocks above them, instead of on top of blocks below. I suppose you might be able to put two slabs on top of one another and break the lower one, though.

Ok, between 6:30 and 10:00pm should be a plenty small enough window to find the culprit. As long as you're sure your stuff was there at 6:30.
I'll look into it this evening. If the person responsible wants to own up and return the items before then, you may get off with a warning rather than a ban.
So after exploring a bit Leiah and I found a moderately sized island that actually contains a decent sized jungle.
Out at about:
X: -14871
Z: 185
Basically we sailed in the direction of the sun from the base of that cool cliff on the mushroom biome and stopped at the first large island. I'll put some screen shots up later, but we may not even need the false jungle island.
It's not tiny, that's just the edge of it and I think the screenshot gives it an odd illusion with the swamp appearing to go behind it. (Either that or it's a different jungle to the one I found).
I'd like to humbly submit my application for the position of Lead Potions and Enchantment Researcher at Tallon Laboratories, if I can. It's right near the Mesa (just finished making a shortcut by Nether-route- will polish that later) so I might as well put in a brewing station there.

I put them there, so you could have them. Was no room in the titan pit like Mel said.

It is exactly 9 blocks in size. I think it may be the difference in where the biome generation changed, at least it's not giant cliffs.
Misa's 64x HD pack. You'll need either MCPatcher or Optifine to use it, I suggest Optifine as it also fixes up some framerate issues inherent in MC and also has some other features such as an autosave for single player.
Is it just me, or is buckland now a crimeridden city. Someone's been laying blocks around the place, and there are people poaching supplies. about 80 of my logs went missing from log-off the other day.
Changed it back into the slabs anyway. Main problem now is figuring out how to make the sort of garden things I have around into something better, having one of each plant there too.

I know it's just logs, but if you can PM me the coords of the chest the logs were taken from, I can look into it. Logs might not be the only thing they're taking.

Indeed.
If anyone wants to say hi I am over on world of espia, its a greylist so just hop on, but we are having technical difficulty's at the moment due to updates and the server is down very often and is only up for short periods.
Is there an active End Portal anywhere? I just need a single Enderpearl to activate another portal.
Sorry not_u, I tried recovering your stuff after you didn't log in for a while, but the server had crashed by then.
This is me failing to pick up bread.
Also, I've placed signs in the spawn that basically show where my tree farm/cobble generator is
also, it's now A LOT harder to see my cobble and water generator as I've started to build a massive tower there, that will eventually stretch from the very top to the very bottom of the world, with a few balconies along the way
antway, to get to the water and cobble generators, you have to go down a 'side street' next to my tower.
Oh, and my old house is now basically a massive tool shed, not that it has any use as one... god I wasted so much cobble on it (the floor is made of furnaces
so, furnaces, anyone? I'll trade 1 furnace for 9 cobble
To make up for past stupidity i'm starting a bunch of vids only available via this thread that shows you step by step how to make a redstone monitor using redstone lamps with a number (not yet defined)of fully programmable frames that can be used for messages or pictures. Matt can I also just ask that you "prettify" your cobble tower at spawn, especially if you intend to take it to the sky limit.
What I mean is, please don't make a massive plain cobble oblong out of the most common material in the game. Mix it up, add patterns or other block types to make it at least look a little interesting. A few people are already expressing their distaste for it as it currently stands.
Hey Dark, how much would I have to give up to get a stack or two of Ice Blocks? My dual-Cave Spider spawner (done by SkySlasher) is glitching in the new 1.2, where the spiders are getting caught on the walls after climbing. As far as I can tell, the only block cave spiders can't climb is ice.
Does anyone have a shed-load of white wool to trade (there must be some sheep-farmers out there...)? I need it to build my artificial cloud, at the top of my beanstalk.
Have plenty of redstone to swap for it, or a bit of gold or lapiz.
The crash made me lose the music disc "Mall" because I took it out just before the crash (As in less than a second before). Could you replace it for me, dark?
Dangit. I'd do it the 'long' way (I live in a snow biome, after all) but that's just too dangerous for cave spiders, I feel. And I'd have to tunnel all the way to the surface for it. Well, perhaps I'll do it. Eventually. Until then, might as well stick to my zombie spawner. Gives iron stuff too.

Don't worry, I will, it just I didn't have much coal at the time and had about 10 stacks of cobble to use (and I also forgot how bad cobble looks outside of my texture pack)
When I find enough coal I will make a few bricks to mix it up, and once I raid the dungeon I found I'll add some mossy cobble.
Or, at least, that's the plan.
If I'm unable to do so, I'll just cover it in vines
Actually, I think that would look better....
EDIT: Just deleted the ill-placed signs and added signs briefly stating why my tower looks like that
Absolutionis and Melissia, I'll look at replacing your stuff later today. I did have a one-way escape hatch in the Nether in the pre-1. 0 world, I'll see if I can recreate it again.
Matt, thanks for your reply and understanding.
Finally, the new map is up: www.darkinnit.com/dakkamap/ While it no longer shows players and views etc, it does look a lot better (to me anyway) and zooms in much closer. The previous map could also have zoomed in so much but I was trying to keep the size down.
Also, pardon the uselessly tall Netherack tower I built above the bedrock. I was trapped above hell itself and was curious if I could go any higher. Feel free to nuke it if you wish.
The map looks much more detailed and awesome.
The lack of player locations is a pity, but that wasn't too much of a useful feature with everyone moving around and all.
Love the new map. Funny how the tower blocks the front of my end house though.
Also hope no one minds that I built these where they are. They're Endermen exp grinders and also a game of sorts; the reason there are two. Simple enough the cobble marks the area you can stand without the Endermen being able to hit you, the structure itself is just a 5x5 square of End Stone 3 blocks off the ground, allowing you to stand safely underneath it. The water on the roof is to obviously stop them from hiding up there and jumping you as soon as you step out. To use it all you need is a sword of any type and to remove your pumpkin helmet to agro them with sight. As for being a game you can compete against someone in the opposite one and use the pearls as a means of keeping score.
Many thanks to n0t_u for the wool trade, but I do need much much more white wool... anyone else? I can be found near the giant beanstalk at 358,-1007 (which is visible on the new map!).
Jambayemon. I should be online at some point in the next few days, though I'm not quite sure when! Just let me know how much iron & coal you want for the 4 stacks of wool.
I will hopefully get a nether transit portal built next time I'm online -- got plenty of obsidian handy for the purpose.
FM Ninja 048 wrote:Nice, I like the new map, also, is it just me or is it bigger than the last one?
It's not bigger, but it is square rather than round, so some land is lost at the widest part, but more land is included at the corners (e.g. making Anvildude's mesa visible now).
I'll keep the old one around for a bit in case Tectonicus ever resurrects itself, but if I figure out the Overviewer plugins to restore Tectonicus functionality I may not switch back.
Depending on how well (quickly) the incremental updates go, I might consider increasing the radius just a bit further, unless you prefer being uncharted?
Anvildude wrote:You are in the Nether, at least. Ad boy, but the Nether map is dark, innit?
Well all the glowstone seems to have gone missing . But yes the smooth lighting engine in the new map is quite a difference, looks better on the overworld but is much darker in the nether and end. Guess we just need moar fire...
If you ever end up on the nether roof, don't just /kill and ask me for your items. Head to 0,0 where you will find the Nether Escape Hatch:
Here you place your inventory in some chests (which are under the bedrock), but you cannot get down. Once your inventory is in the chests, type /kill and then after you respawn, head to the spawn portal in the nether. You'll see a ladder nearby that takes you up to the chests to collect your inventory from the chests.
n0t_u wrote:Always wondered why you didn't make it a one way drop, but it's good to see the old system back.
If I just made a plain hole that people could drop through, they could also jump-stack blocks get up there. This way ensures you only end up there by accident.

Pistons can be broken/rewired etc. Also even if the nether had a similar spawn protected area as the overworld, redstone devices cannot be used by regular players in a protected area...
I hadn't had to use it before, but I think I understand how it is now. I just figured they could break the chest and get up there, but if it's only one block high only the chest fits there and no players.
Where [C] are chests. You stand in the gap in the middle and can reach the chests, but can't get through because you're 2 blocks tall and the gap is only 1 block high. The block you stand on and the roof is bedrock.
You can link to locations in the map by copying the address from the url bar when you are looking at the place you want to link to. (It's more reliable than Tectonicus used to be).
Okay, I am trying to install the Explosives mod using mcpatcher, but Modloader keeps derping on me. Help please? I get the noclass error each time, and it won't stop.
