I was wondering if there was any drum/magazine options for the railgun?

Also, have you considered the Widowmaker SAW with an longer autocannon barrel (use the one from your autocannon, it's perfect)

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2012/11/29 10:51:01

Post by: Anvils Hammer

Cheers guys!

@Melkson, The Railgun is intended with a small internal mag, as the ammo is extreemly small dense metal slugs, the side cannister is the capacitor/battery unit.
I dont plan any further mags for this weapon, but if you had one spare, the extra box mag which comes with the sniper rifle would be the best fit.

I will certainly be doing Steam Lord portable Autocannons, and also missile launchers, in the not to distant future.

Shotgun looks, frankly, brilliant.

Robed torsoe & legs still don't look right -- sorry. They don't look as realistic as the GW ones. The baggy bits over the sides of the belt don't look right, and nor does the turned-back section over the left leg (right, as we look at the pic), and nor do the creases running diagonally over the upper body.

I understand this would be a major undertaking and not in your immediate plans, but is there any plans to do 'super steam lords'? Or, steaminators? LOL

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2012/11/29 18:20:21

Thanks for the feedback guys.

@Ian, I guess arrangement of robes is a personal asthetic thing, I find the GW robes, especially plastic ones, a bit wooden and flat looking.

@SickSix,

Yes, a thousand times yes. Ive wanted to do "Exo-Lords" for ages now. They are one of the projects on the long term to-do list.

Im hoping next year we can take on a few extra staff to help out with production and packing, which will free up most of my time to take a chunk out of my "to-do" list!

Current project is the small bionic rifle arms and smaller rifles. After that I actually havent decided what to work on yet, probably wings and jump packs...

If you're going to go with a pumpkin head theme...

You need to give them some "Heavy Gourdinance". Make pumpkin themed weaponry please

Actually, do what you like, I am just glad that someone made some heads like that, and secondly that I got to use that picture

If you do make some wings, any chance you can make some that are symmetrical with each other? Lots of the ones on the market are hand sculpted, and so when put next to each other look off-kilter due to them not being symmetrical.

If you use a 3d design tool, how easy/hard would it be to mirror one to make the other side as well? I have been looking for a pair which is metallic in nature (so not the natural bird feather look, but more like an Art Deco statue), but are directly symmetrical to one another. If you can pull this off I am definitely down for an order.

Nah, the robes thing isn't about personal aesthetics -- it's about having worn a lot of robes and armour, and having been married to a professional theatrical costumier for more than a decade. There is just no way that robes would look like that, if they were cut in any kind of a regular shape. Notably, if you imagine the folded-back portion over the leg, lying where it 'should' lie rather than being folded back, the corner would be brushing the floor.

And there's no way that they'd have that kind of variety of folds, unless the thickness of the material varied massively (the torso part looks like it's much thinner material than the lower part).

Plus, if they were cut to fit the armour, they wouldn't bag out over the sides of the belt to that degree.

@Fenriswulf - Awesome! Charlie recognised it as Archer, I just thought the pumpkin cannon was cool...
No plans for any more pumpkin stuff im afraid, at least not till next halloween!

Im afraid to say im making the featherd kind of wings, and wont be making any symetrical wings as you describe, sorry!

@Ian - Im now a bit jealous you get to wear robes and armour on any kind of regular basis!

So I got my Steam Lords today, and wow! I am amazed at the quality of the models! There is very little flash on the models and I got everything I asked for and they look lovely. I got an extra set of arms, I don't know if that was an error or intentional but I am pleased! The bases are gorgeous might I add, I got the forge ruins and they are really detailed! I look forward to buying more from you in the future Joel! I am very happy!

@Tyranid Horde -

Thanks very much! Im really glad you like the parts, and really appreciate you taking the time to leave some feedback in the thread. Do please feel free to post photos of your completed models in this thread if yo uget a chance.

@Arbitorian,

No, I dont have a comparison photo, but basically, its similar to the Cadian tripod but a fair bit more bulky and a little bigger in every dimension. Assembled, the weapon mount plate stand about 1-2mm higher than the cadian one, I think.

Cheers,

Joel

Quick question. You have some fantastic weapons, and I'm fully going to take advantage of your store in a week or so, but when you say 'Steam Lord sized,' does this mean they won't be compatible with a smaller scaled soldier? still heroic scale, but not you know, 'steam lord' size. I really want to pick up your heavy widomaker Saw, and your double barreled shotties, but I'm concerned it'll throw everything out of proportion!

hey anvil will there be some picks for the extra equipment for the dubble barrled shotguns since i am not sure what to pick for them also just a quick question where do you stand on commission work since the one i normaly use RSJak is a bit busy so i just want to hear what your oppinion on commissions is

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2012/12/01 23:23:52

Post by: Anvils Hammer

Hi Guys

@Ghosty,

Basically yes, if you mean heroic scaled human figures like cadians, Mantic corporation etc, the existing weapons are generally too big.

The SAW is designed for a torso 11.5mm wide, and the rifles are to big. the carbines could be used but would still look pretty bulky.

The shotgun, Auto shotgun and Double barrel shotgun are probably the most useable, they will be pretty big looking, but by trimming down the front hand grip a bit you can get them looking ok at that scale.

I am actually going to be releasing some "guard scale" weapons - rifles, laser rifles, sniper rifle etc, along with some small scale arms to hold them, They are this weeks project, so they should be available before Xmas.

@emperor bacon - do you mean photographs of the double barrel shotgun with some accessories fitted? Ill try and get some example shots in our next lot of photos. The reflex scope looks the best.

Im afraid Anvil is not doing any commission work at all at the moment and for the foreseeable future, we are just to busy with our own projects.

Thanks,

Joel

So there I was playing Army of Two on the PS3 when I got into some gun customization and found these cool looking gun shields similar to the ones on your flamer. I thought a design like that which could fit onto the widow makers would be very cool! I know you already have soo much on your to do list but it had to be said!

Also. Your shop is very addictive. I keep piling stuff into my shopping cart and then remember about something else like the bionics or rapid mold stuff. Pretty sure I am buying a couple of everything by now!

Damn, i just ordered some torso's and legs and then you come out with those robed legs and torso's, order again, any planes for some medievel like helmet (more unconventional types, the templar type has been overdone, watch the Excaliber and labyrinth).

What style will the jumppacks be like also retro?

@Commander Cain -

Its on the to-do list, just happens that the existing to-do list is rather long.. enough work for 2-3 sculptors for a year!

We cant make the store any less addictive, but we can supply the product if that helps for a bit? :p

@Jehan-Reznor. No plans for new helmets at the moment, I already have 20 different head options so Ill be working on some other projects for a while.

Cheers,

Joel

Damn I need to restock my spankbank @anvils hammer.

I have had a look at your steamlords before due to TS implications, but damn just saw the new updates and the weapons you have in the webshop.
I must say that some of it is extremely usable for me in different contexts, the widowmaker and that huge blog of a not-stormbolter is perfect proxies for my HHB ultramarines weapons, and affordable.
But at the same time, the shotgun and the revolver is excellent for my =I= dabblings..

Good Work!

Could I make a quick suggestion for the store? I find that when I am getting a Steam Lord set that I constantly forget the names of the pads, torsos and whatnot. Some labeled pics of the parts like this would be perfect:

Hey,

@Commander Cain! Thanks very much!

Everyone else im pleased to announce a 50% off everything sale!!

Just kidding, which Special Weapons are you after? Ill include a couple for free and if you want lots you can order them and Ill refund the shipping charge and include them with this order, which should post out tommorow 4pm UK time.

About the Steam Lords -

Thanks for the suggestion, this is somthing weve considered and which I would like to do. Whats holding me back is that im constantly adding New parts, which would mean constantly redoing the images to keep them current. We will try and sort somthing out in the new year.

In the meanwhile I can recommend you have the store open in a couple of different windows.

@Mad4minis - that would be great! Do please post some photos of completed minis if they end up being 100% Anvil parts.

-------------------

CHRISTMAS POSTING DATES-

These are the recomended last posting dates to maximise the chances of product turning up before Christmas.

UK - Tuesday 18th December

EUROPE - Monday 10th December

USA/CANADA - Friday 7th I.E TWO DAYS from now.

Orders to the rest of the world - ASAP - we will try and post them out as soon as possible but cant guarantee they will arrive in time.

Im going to try and get some new stuff out in the next week or so - the new small bionics and small guns, but no promises as we are very busy at the moment.

Cheers,

Joel

No problem! It was just the fusion gun and ion cannon that I forgot to add. I think I got everything else!

I thought all the new parts would be the reason why you did not add the pics, two windows works just as well though!

I too shall post some pics of the assembled guys and maybe do an article review if I have the time as well. Can't wait for it all to arrive!

Very nice Kenshin! I look forward to further updates from Icesword in due course!

BAD SANTA

Sculpt by me (Joel Pitt) with flexible ammobelt from Zinge Industries, Painted by Liam Ainscough

----------------

We are almost at the end of an awesome year for Anvil Industry, and as a fun and unique gift for various people we've worked with in 2012, I sculpted "Bad Santa", a two peice resin figure, hand cast one at a time.

We are only ever making one production run of this figure - approximately 40-60 figures, some are gifts, and the remainder are available on the website here-

http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=77_105&product_id=235

Once they are sold out, we will never make any more. each Santa Figure will have his number in the production run engraved on the bottom of the gift hes standing on (its grenades, bad Santas favorite!). (EDIT - I totally forgot to do the numbers, as we sold 30 in a day, madness! My apologies, any Santa customer who contacts me - I will work out which number your santa is!)

We will be taking a short break over the holiday from 22nd December - 2nd January, to relax and recharge, and I have LOTS planned for next year.

Hope you guys like Santa! you can tell from the manic grin and excessive ammunition, that Santa doesnt like anybody!

Cheers,

Joel

I've loved every piece I've ordered from you, but (there's always a but after genuine compliments) you're leaving money on the table by not creating decent looking combination weapons. There's pretty good demand for them and no other company has produced great combination weapons. Custom Minis produces pretty good looking combination weapons, but they are through Shapeways, making them a bit more pricy and a bit less desirable. There is a french company, I can never recall the name that produce passable combination weapons at a pretty fair price, but they aren't nearly as good as anything you've been putting out for your weapons. Chapterhouse's combination weapons are white metal, which turns off many people immediately, a bit sparse on detail and a bit pricy. They do come as a kit ready to be magnetized, which is cool, but the detail isn't quite as good as it should be. I think if you created combination weapons as good looking as you create your other weapons and at a comparable price, you'd clean house. I remember seeing a while back that you addressed this issue with a comment, more or less, to the effect of "I haven't been able to make good looking ones yet." I figure there are a couple routes to go on this one.

You can make interchangable parts or single piece, obviously, the single allowing more detail and more unity in design. Then there's overslung, underslung and side by side. If you do an underslung design, you could actually just create it as an attachment to the existing line of weapons. If you create a barrel similar to the grenade launcher barrel and a small ammo source (battery, fuel canister, etc) to hang on the side of the weapon. The side by side and overslung would require new weapons. The side by side can be done from an adapted form of your double tap, and by putting the special weapon on the outside of the firer, allow more detail on the alternate weapon. Overslung could allow interchangability while being glued to a models' hands, and by adding a well thought out overhang on the outside of the weapon, could include all the bells and whistles to represent a special weapon. This may have all been sort of telling you things you already knew, in fact, it almost certainly was, but the intent was pretty much to express interest in well crafted combination weapons, and apparently to waste your time with fairly obvious advice.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And also, everything I got with my last order was brilliant, but (another but) the hooded heads are, pardon the pun, head and shoulders above the rest. They look good online, but they look unbelievable in person.

Thanks very much guys.

Just a heads up - as of writting this there are TEN santas left in the initial 40. After we've made all 40 Im going to try and get a few more out of the moulds but cant guarantee anything. So if you want one, dont delay!

Bonus points if you use it as a CSM Lord!!!

@Commander Cain - Ill probably release the grenade launcher with stock/grip as a separate peice at some point.

@noneoftheabove0

Yes, I know its a glaring ommission from the range and a lot of people would be after such weapons! Thanks for your input on the design, usefull! Im probably going to go for underslung, but as a combined new weapon rather than an attachment to my existing weapons - as an attachement would make the guns far too front heavy! They are on the to-do list, just need to find the time to design them!

Cheers,

Joel

This is the closest approximation of the rules to use Bad Santa as a CSM Lord. (for anyone else who wants to use it as )
Chaos Lord
+ Combi-Bolter (replace Bolt Pistol) (Shotgun)
+ Burning Brand of Skalathrax (replace Boltgun) (Grenade Launcher - Incendiary Grenades)
+ Sigil of Corruption
+ Melta Bombs
128pts

Also - would it be possible to amend my order with a pack of Laser Designators or two? (only spotted those this morning, and I think they'll make good Markerlights.)

Many thanks for the freebies as well, much appreciated!

I'm in the same boat Commander Cain. I got a pretty massive amount of bitz that came in last week or so. Had forgotten to post that they are awesome. I think out of the 50+ bitz (all weapons of some sort) there might be one or two guns who's barrels bled a little but outside of that it looks great!

Oh, and I'd personally go crazy on combination weapons. I need about 30 of each type and based on the quality of what I ordered from you I'd get them all in a heartbeat!

Santa would never go bad like that, he's always so jolly. And you know why?

He never does any of the work himself, he leaves that to the elves.

And of course - he knows where all the Bad Girls live!

One steam lord made, 15 to go! Everything glues together very well and I am in love with those bases, they don't capture very well in a picture before they are painted but the detail is top notch.

(spoilered because the pics turned out huge when I cropped them!)

Spoiler:

I plan on doing 5 in that "old" style, another 5 in a futuristic style and the last 5 in whatever way that makes them cool!

Ok, so my package from Anvil Industries has arrived.
The first thing - you've used a box that fits through the letterbox slot.
This is fantastic, almost no one does, and being generally we miss the postman, I don't have to wait 2-3 days then make then 40 minute trip to the sorting depot

It's packaged well, with a little bag taped down and bubble warp. The box is also the perfect size for keeping dice or such in.

The Laser Designators look great, and should make fine markerlights.
Similarly, the revolvers are great, I don't even know when / where I'll use them tbh, no plans. (Just wanted some cos they looked cool - I'm sure I'll find something, xD)

Bad Santa is great. He's a good model and well made.
Just a few tiny pin-hole bubbles here and which will take roughly 5 seconds to fill with LGS and away we go. (Certainly much better than both pieces of Finecast I've got, as well being half the price )
My only issue would be there's no number engraved on the bottom of the parcel, but that's rather minor, and I only noticed the bit saying there would be 2 days after I ordered it, so no biggy.

All in all, it's great, dealing with Joel has been easy, and the products quality and cost is great. I will certainly be using again in future when I don't need Meltaguns.
I'll probably pick up some Railguns and Rifles when I do too.

(And of course, if you sculpt a Fuklaw or any Angry-Marine-usable stuff, I'll be getting that. )

@LDD how about some free human scale guns when I release them? as you've been badgering me for ages and I keep failing to hit my self imposed deadlines!

@Commander Cain and Hulksmash - thanks very much for leaving feedback! Im glad you are so happy with the components!

Commander Cain - the mini loois great! do post photos of completed squads and painted ones if you get a chance!

@Ovion.

Sorry about the lack of a number, I intended to do this - hence said I would in the dakka post, but we sold about 30 Santas - and double the usual ammount of regular product - in less than 48 hours, and in the rush to get everything cast and packed I just totally forgot about it!

Im glad you had a great experience with Anvil and thanks for the feedback- 95% of our orders go out in Jiffy bags or narrow boxes - so no one ever need miss a delivery!

next week Monday - Friday is our last week before the Christmas break, but Ive got a few new bits nad peices to try and release, time allowing. Otherwise - big plans for January!

Cheers,

Joel

S'alright, it's a good model, I just need to decide if I want to put it on the 'appropriate' 25mm base with half the grenade-parcel hanging off, or a 40mm base for aesthetic....

Holstered pistols, empty holsters (having everyone wielding a pistol having nowhere to put it always bugs me...), and sheaths for the double-barrel shotguns.

Yeah, it was reading your thread that made me think of it

A 'standard' empty holster for not-Imperial and not-Xenos weaponry would be fantastic, and I'd buy loads of them (I hate not having them on my models, and have something like 30-40 CSM models that deserve them, aswell as 5-6 Tau (and maybe a not-Pulse-Pistol), a few Eldar and 35-40 Dark Eldar that could do with em.), as well as the ones for the Anvils-own 'short arms', such as the Shotguns, pistols and Revolver.

Any chance of IG arms? No weapons, just arms so we could put our weapons of choice? Maybe a set of rifle arms and a set of hand to hand arms. With a couple of at ease, smoking, drinking carrying arms? Or even IG shoulder pads?

Hello everyone, thanks for all feedback and suggestions -

@New abortion - Yes they are on the way. All the existing weapon accessories will fit with the scaled down guns, and the specialist/energy weapons will get scaled down as well.

@Andilus Greatsword - keep an eye on our facebook page, as thats where Ill be annonucing any additional copies we are able to get out of the mould.

@Ovion - Holstered pistols are on the to-do list, and good idea - Ill put some empty holsters on the sprue also. Ill make them to fit Steam Lord pistols initially but some "generic" ones might get done at some point, they are quite easy to sculpt I hope!

@Clang - Yep thats certainly the plan - Santa has worked out really well, so Ill probably do 2-3 limited edition miniatures per year with various themes.

------------

@ LDD, Newabortion, EchoJ7, xcasex and EVERYONE ELSE waiting on HUMAN SCALE ARMS AND WEAPONS -

Im sorry for the continued delay with this project. Its my "pet project" so I really want to get on with it, but dont want to rush it.

In the new year, we are hoping to take on some staff to assist with manfacturing and other day to day function in the business. This will free up a lot more of my time to work on new products.

the current plan for January onward is -

Multi pose bionic legs, new Steam Lord legs to updated the existing older products.

and then, using the human scale bionic legs and arms - an initial range of "Regiments" products, including the human scale guns, rifle arms, separate shoulder pads and torsos.

Over the next 12 months, I will be releasing an entire range of modular Sci-fi infantry miniatures, I hope to have some initial design sketches up for comments and feedback early next year.

Cheers,

Joel

You can add me to the list of people eagerly awaiting the release of your 'regiment' line. I also really like the idea of empty gun holsters.
Something that I'd like to see is a set of seated legs and a set of arms holding a steering wheel so I can have drivers and passengers for my IG support vehicles.

I will start saving then I also would like to say the holster idea is a dam fine one (human scale of course ) empty and filled options, also I would love to see a double shotgun back holster for my Human units

I also want that open shut shotgun human sized, I will be fielding a unit of those bad boys if you do them

Now excuses aside, finger out and get it done, if I don't see them appear next year (early side of it ) in my best Liam Neeson voice "I will find you and I will kill you" …….. No only kidding but I will be really annoyed

For the whole range - we are talking at least 6-10 different uniform styles, plus 3/4 different squads for each style, plus command elements, heavy weapons, vehicles etc etc, its A LOT of work.

The bits you are after at the moment - fatigue rifle arms and small rifles, will be the "first wave", one of my highest priorities for January.

AAAAARGH!!

*Head explodes under the pressure*

Short Answer - Yes, I honestly hope I will have time for everything.

In the New Year, we are hoping to take on a few staff members to assist with manufacturing and processing orders.

At the moment I probably spend about 40 hours a week on day to day running of the business, and 10 hours a week working on new product.

In a few months time, I intend to reverse that, spending 10 hours running the business and 40 hours working on new product.

Im also planning to bring in some other 3D artists and sculptors to assist me with specific projects.

This all means that hopefully, I can dramatically speed up the release shedule, and get round to the Regiments range, the Mech Lords, Exo Lords, Tanks, APC's etc etc, all in the next 12 months or so!

All you guys have to do to assist with the plan is keep on buying the new toys!

Joel

@tyrannid Horde, My head is so full of ideas for new stuff that Im going crazy not being able to make it all, and dont worry, at some point in 2013 I plan to have a whole month off to work on my own personal wargaming projects.

@Malika2 - Not taken the wrong way at all. Anything "sci-fi" I make is always going to be vaguely similar to somthing in GW's back catalogue simply because they have such a massive range!
The focus next year will be much more on complete miniature kits, rather than conversion parts for existing miniatures, so Ill certainly be experimenting a bit!

@Clausel - No problem, some credit due to Royal Mail also I think!

@Jehan-Reznor - Thanks, Ill try not to work to hard

@Lord Castellan and anyone who missed out on the first batch of Santas

FIVE MORE SANTAS now available. We managed to get these extra copies out of the mould before retiring it permanently.
They are in stock ready to ship out first class so anyone in the UK can possibly get a Santa in time for xmas if they order quickly!

Got my robbed torsos's and legs at my shop in osaka last Saturday, there were tiny bubbles in some of the heels of some of the legs, easily fixed with some greenstuff.
The only gripe i have is that the block resin attached to the torso's and legs is more than the parts themselves,
Is there any way possible to change the process to not have so much resin attached to the parts? Looks like a lot of waste material.
The other thing is the raven helmet seems to be a bit small when put on the medieval torso.

Ending on a good note, the Flamethrower looks great!

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2012/12/28 21:39:41

Post by: Anvils Hammer

@Melkson

thanks for posting the photos! Gritty camo is something Ive not experimented with on Steam Lords but it really works!
Glad you are happy with the parts!

@Jehan-Reznor

Thanks for your feedback. Generally we will let the occasional bubble through if its in a "hard to see" area, but on a more obvious area we'd replace the part.

Do you mean that the resin parts are attached by thin "gates" to a larger triangular block of resin? You should have had no difficulty removing the parts from the sprue - which we sometimes leave on if its easier to ship that way.

The large resin "sprue" is something we try to minimize but its a normal part of the resin production process - if there isnt enough resin in the mould, it makes the formation of bubbles more likely (a simplified explanation) so to ensure the best possible parts, we allow plenty of excess.

The scale of the helmets is down to personal taste I think- I will try to get some more photos up showing the various helmets in use on miniatures.
If you don’t want to use the helmets email me and I will issue a refund for those parts.

Glad you like the Flame thrower

General Announcements -

Im back home and have Internet again - awesome. We will be working hard to ship out all orders from the 2nd jan onward and we should be fully back to normal by Monday 7th.
If you've placed an order - thanks for your patience!

I spent a good chunk of Christmas day working on some new bionic legs (dont feel bad for me - this is my hobby as well!) which should be available quite early in January, along with the new Steam Lord legs, which I will be posting some concept designs for in the next few days.

Here you go, WIP CAD.

Initially I will release small and medium sizes - each sprue will contain some complete assembled leg sets, plus some "poseable" bits to make bionic leg conversions to existing minis.

"Large" size bionic will follow on at some point.

Any feedback welcome as I can still make changes to the design at this point.

Looks great, except the 'toes' seem a little short - I'd have thought a replacement leg would have a longer foot in the forwards direction, if only because us humans are used to our feet being like that. (Side and back mini-toes seem fine, giving added stability.) Hmm, and if you do make the forward foot/toes longer, actually dividing them into a foot and a toe joint at the end would be even better.

Is this a back view? - looks like a knee seen from a back angle?

Since you're doing this as CAD, I presume it will be pretty easy for you to make standing/walking/sitting/bent knee/kneeling knee variants - that will certainly make 'I hate models with repeated poses' customers happy Ooh, and maybe also a more crouched walking pose, suitable for cyborks?

Post by: Azazelx

I'd agree with Clang there. Perhaps have 2-3 versions of the feet and legs so people can choose one look that they like as uniform, or mix things up.

Purely by way of an example, bionic limbs in the Warhammer 40k range vary quite a bit between models, and it fits their ethos, as might it also fir the Steam Lords ethos as you have a variety of different types of armour that can be combined in different ways.

I my self like the toe set up and with it all being the same size works, the only issue I have is the length of the leg looks a little stumpy, which format of troops is this designed for?

Maybe a view from the other side would help, and optional feet is a good idea I hope some of these will make it to normal human scale not super enhanced steroid junkies

I like it! Matches well with the bionic arms.

Also, the legs should not be hard to chop up and repose. I made a kneeling guy just the other week.

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2012/12/30 17:54:34

Post by: Anvils Hammer

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

this is the back view. There are two feet I've desiged, the square one shown, and a "normal" foot with bionic toes.
Both will be supplied as options.

There will be plenty of posing options, Depending on how easy it is to stick them together, Ill probably do a whole set of Bionic legs for Steam Lords, so with the bionic rifle arms people can make whole mechanical robots.

@LDD - this one shown is for Steam Lords, hence quite chunky, there is another scaled down version for Regular humans which will be released at the same time

These bionic legs are a bit experimental and if it works (confident it will) I will be redoing the Steam Lord legs, infact all my legs, using 3D printed peices which slot toether much quicker and easier.

This should mean the new Steam Lord leg range will include more poses AND more armour styles.

@Commander Cain - looking great! Chopped up a running pair right?

Cheers,

Joel

1000 posts! That's an impressive milestone of sorts!

Sorry for the relative lack of updates recently, we've been working hard to get the Christmas orders all shipped out, but that is now complete and we are back to normal shipping schedule. This hopefully means I can get on with the new stuff.

Projects which are all simultaneously on the "Do ASAP" list -

Small and medium Scale Bionics
Small Bionic rifle arms - then regular fatigue arms
scaled down rifles to fit smaller arms
New Steam Lord Legs

So @emperor bacon, the honest answer is "not sure, but soon"

If its the replacement medieval legs you are after, im doing those first, so hopefully 2-3 weeks away. The other new styles of legs will turn up after all the smaller guns and arms as I know a lot of people are wanting those!

Regarding Female components for regular infantry models, these will be included as part of that range - although at 28mm scale the difference between a male and female arm is pretty negligible so Id probably just be doing alterative torsos and heads, not sure yet.

Cheers,

Joel

nha not the medieval ones i ment by the recent picture since because of the more newer forge world termies i would have liked to make them look more veterans seeing as i dont think they would have become veterans like these unharmed and about the female parts guess they might not come before guess 3 years or somthing from now on or atleast after the store have filled the section for more human parts

The scale of the helmets is down to personal taste I think- I will try to get some more photos up showing the various helmets in use on miniatures.
If you don’t want to use the helmets email me and I will issue a refund for those parts.

Don't want a refund, just noticed that some heads look better on different torso's.

looking forward to the new stuff this year

Hey Joel, my package arrived this morning. Super fast delivery again, think it was late Thursday night that I ordered. And the little thin boxes you are using now are great. Also, first time I've seen your sniper rifles first hand, they're just great. Only wish that I had more opportunity to use more of them.

Good work again.

@Emperor Bacon, Ah ok, the bionic legs, the small and medium will be out in 1-2 weeks, the larger ones, comparable in scale to terminators, will be done at some point in the next few months, but are not an immediate priority.

I think Lone Dirty Dog made the 1000th post.. no prizes im afraid!!

@Jehan, ok thanks for the feedback! Im also looking forward to the new stuff, there are projects ive been wanting to start on now for more than a year!!

@Alanmckenzie - great, glad it all turned up ok, We are still using Jiffy bags for most orders, but the thin boxes are a usefull addition as they provide extra protections for the more fragile components/larger orders, and still fit through a letter box!

Joel

Thanks for the feedback!

@Peredyne, The bionic legs need a hip joint so are not fully left/right like the arms, but the sprue will obviously contain both left and right legs!

@Andilus Greatsword - you are very welcome to post photos of Santa in this thread.

In general, anyone is welcome to post any photos of Anvil Industry models/component parts in use.

Finnishing the Bionic legs off today, so Im hoping to release them by the end of next week if I can get them printed in time.

Anvil, do you or anyone else here by any chance have a picture of your "double tap" twin carbine on a more human (guardsmen or similar) type of model?

I've been trying to figure out forever how to do less out of proportion storm bolter acolytes, and it looks like your twin carbine might fit the bill, but I'm unsure if it's much smaller than a traditional gw stormbolter.

Any help you/others could offer on here is much obliged, if they work I'd be looking for in the neighborhood of ~75 of them.

Thanks!

It is far too late for me to be shooting pics right now but I own one of the twin carbines and can say that it is a pretty decent scale for guardsmen. A SM stormbolter is far chunkier whereas the twin carbine is a fair bit smaller. I will try to get a pic tomorrow after I am done of my uni classes for you!

Of course, you may just want to wait and see if Anvil releases that gun in an even smaller scale in the next few months!

@Target and Commander Cain- The current "double tap" is Steam Lord scale, a touch smaller than the GW storm bolter but still too large for a regular human in my opinion, but ill be very interested to see a photo if Commander Cain can post one.

Im scaling down a fair few of the guns to human proportions, and if you are wanting 75, i can definitely arrange a scaled down double tap. To further help with making it more "human scale" I would probably exchange the double drum mag for a double stick/curved mag, as this would be less bulky. what do you think?

@Andilus Greatsword - he looks awesome! cheers for that, someone posted stats in the thread for using Santa as a tooled up Chaos Lord, which I thought was pretty appropriate... :p

@Rusty Robot, I am personally interested in that sort of thing, but I only plan to focus on miniatures and conversion parts for the foreseeable future because my list of planned projects is seemingly endless!
Id like to work on terrain elements and similar at some point, but it wont realistically be for at least a year.

@Asherian Command - It used to be set up like that, so that any option could be "none" . At the moment Legs has a "none" option because there is currently only one choice!

Having too many options can get pretty confusing for both me and the customer, and if someone wants say, just the legs, torso and head, they can get those parts separately.

When I "re launch" the Steam Lords in a few weeks with the new legs, this is something I will look at again.

Just please make sure we can still get the complete sets as they are, (or maybe with an option for discounted arm/weapon sets as well when buying full sets)

I'd also like to see some more torso variations. Perhaps using some different kinds of inspiration, with multiple kinds of "Arcane Reactor" holes (round, triangular, etc). Even heads to go with them. I know Mantic has done some similar stuff, but I have existing models and Steam Lords I'd like to be able to work these into. Perhaps some heavily-riveted movie-inspired "MK2 Iron Armour" could work well across several genres and figure ranges. There are some new Kromlech legs just crying out for this kind of torso and head...

Torso Variation is definitely a thing to have, though in regards to the head and torso combo you have above, i would be happy to see that on a "Undead Mechanical Menace" style of unit. You know the kind that always threatens to come back... Add a kreig style tooth design to the chin for the half skull look. just without the gas muzzle.

A more human scaled one would be absolutely awesome, and I second the idea of using a stick/curved/box mag as the drums are a bit overly large for a human sized model. If you were to scale one down, how long do you think it would be before it'd be released? I don't want to rush genius, but I'm hoping to have these to use/paint up for Adepticon (mid/end of April). If it helped I wouldn't even mind prepaying for the 75 I'd need to show you wouldn't be developing a new product for no reason

Feel free to shoot me a pm if you need anything or want to arrange something on the smaller version - now I'm excited!

Well I shot some absolutely horrible photos for you Target. Camera is down so I had to use the 'ol IPod.

Despite the fuzziness you can see that Anvil's gun is a tad smaller and thinner than a SB

Spoiler:

Apologies for having already chopped the gun up, I decided to make it wrist mounted!

Spoiler:

And here you can see that it is fairly big, but still useable for IG should you so wish.

Spoiler:

Gah, what shameful pictures, so bad I am going to spoiler them!

the full size version runs at £1

the smaller version will be 70p.

Everyone who wants a human size double tap carbine with twin box mag - PM me with the number of guns you want to pre order.

If its enough, Ill be sure to include it with the other smaller guns.

TORSOS - Id also like more varients, for both Steam Lords and human scale models.. but im not gene enhanced with two hearts and a third lung, im normal human and can only sculpt so fast.. Ill see about more torsos in a few months tiem.

Well, obviously proportions would have to be reworked to fit in with the existing Steam Lords, but it does seem like a kinda obvious style to do 2-4 torsos in while also staying with the Steam Lords-and-compatable-ranges ethos and being something new to this style of miniature at the same time.

If the line is expanded later on to also have figures inspired by sci-fi movies like "Terminator" (robot skeletons and the like) I could definitely see them there as well. But in the short term, I'd love to see some for the Steam Lords!

@Scipio - its added to the list then!! quite far down the list, I warn you!

@Barzam - back pack mounted mechanical arms are definately somthing I intend to release at some point, but its not an immediate priority.

@target - the smaller double tap will be included in the next run of guns, including a few smaller assault rifles.

Im making progress with the CAD for the new legs, this is the replacement for the medieval legs, the main difference, other than rescalling, is the updated Kneepad, what do you guys think?

At this stage all the parts can be freely changed and moved around, so I can tweak almost anything.

I will be doing at least a couple more armour styles in the next few weeks I hope.

Cheers,

Joel

That's awesome news! My Iron Warriors will thank you.

Also, those legs look great! I thought the original versions looked good, but these look even better! I know I'll be getting some of those for sure. I'm kind of curious, are you updating all of the figure parts with CAD designed 3D printed sculpts?

Anvil Industry - August Final days: Medieval Mech Loyalty Reward + Civilian Disaster Response! @ 2013/01/09 09:50:58

@Commander Cain - Its not finnished yet, Ive added a bit more piping to the back, but not as much as the previous lot so they will have a cleaner look to them.

Im going to complete this pair first and test the resin components, before I start serious work on other styles.

@Barzam - Most but not all. all future components will be either 100% CAD or a combination of CAD parts and traditional sculpting.

Generally organic parts like flesh, hair, clothe are better in putty, and all mechanical parts will be 3D printer based.

Cheers,

Joel

Its been far to long, but I have some NEW PRODUCT!

Multi Pose Bionic Legs, both medium "marine" and small "guardsman" scales.

The Kits are both multi-part, with a few extra bits in the medium scale, and can be assembled in virtually any pose with different option parts.

Medium front and back -

The Small size -

These kits are great for special character builds and converting existing miniatures. For more general "rank and file" I will be releasing some "pre assembled" bionic leg sets, for those of you who dont want to glue a dozen tiny bits together but still want some bionic legs!

Im hoping to have the new Steam Lord Legs out by the middle of next week.

Hello,

HUMAN SCALE DOUBLE TAP - enough people want these, so id like feedback on this CAD image comparing the existing weapon with the proposed small version underneath -

Ive scaled it down a bit, shortened the front and replaced the bulky drum mags with a more compact box mag.

Its still pretty bulky, but this smaller version could be fired from one hand by a normal heroic 28mm human without it looking totally ridiculous.

Everything can be changed at this point so I welcome feedback on the scale/design.

Those of you who want to pre order it can do so here -

http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=60_87&product_id=239

but please not its not going to ship for a while, could be anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

SMALL BIONIC RIFLE ARMS - a few people waiting on these and the fatigue versions, The small bionic rifle arms will be released over the weekend.

Work on the small guns is progressing.

I hate to pile on suggestions for your ever-increasing queue, Joel, but would you be at all interested in creating some leg sets in a more "truthful" scale? I think a decent number of hobbyists (myself included) would be very interested in true-scale legs that they didn't have to sculpt themselves. I know I would need somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 or more. No rush, just an idea.

It looks good to me. Will the box mag variant be available in the larger size as well, or is this strictly for the human sized version?

I know it is something you wouldn't be able to put in the queue for at least a long time, but do you think there's a possibility for a longer, rifle length version of the double tap?

Hey Guys-

Im going to rework the double tap into a longer/narrower two handed version for the human scale one, might also released the existing "pistol" version as well.

@Guildsman - its not an addition, "true scale" legs have been in the queue for a while, I already have the longer torsos ready and when Ive completed the exising 3D printed legs im going to scale them up a bit to make larger versions.

Probably be aiming for a total minature height of 40mm, so they will look weird used with regular torso parts, hence the longer torsos Ive made with wider waists.

Note that this is still a while away!

@Barzam - box mag is human scale only, to make it more sensibly compact.
A longer double tape rifle is certainly a possibility, but I would be included to put the barrels one on top of the other rather than side by side, I think this would look more realistic?

Very interesting. Assuming the price is reasonable (which seems like a pretty safe assumption), I would be interested in a fair number of them, enough for a small space marine army that I'll never play but am too lazy to try and sell.

Hey Guys,

All the "regular" legs will be single peice for now at least, Im not sure how much of a market there is for poseable Steam Lord legs, but Im open to suggestion as always.

@Javin - Yes. the "Regiments" project is planned out over the next 12 months, and when I release "fatigue" arms Ill also be doing a couple of styles of small scale shoulder pad to match.

Cheers,

Joel

Sorry about this guys but, a bit of a big post.

Anyways, I'm looking at buying a few of your products to compliment my new Knights of Blood army I am working on. Before I considered it, I read some reviews and noticed that your mold lines are cleaned up or cleverly hidden in such a way as to make good quality, and that the pricing is very economic.

As such, since I've bought from other companies in the past IE: Chapterhouse, and loved kitbashing, and since all my friends are raving about Anvil, I decided to give it a shot. I'm currently filing out an order form Joel, and I was a bit confused.

Now then, I'm ordering a few to try out for my army through this form on your website: http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=77_95&product_id=79

Now I'm looking at the Renaissance helmets and Plumes/Top knots. I was concerned that these wouldn't go together without a heavy dosage of greenstuff, which I've just ran out of. Will they go together easily, just requiring glueing, or will they require other kinds of modification?

Anyways, just posting this here so I can find out if the order will go together or not:

Helmet: Renaissance.
Torso: Medieval.
Legs: None.
Power Pack: Turbine power plant.
Shoulder Pads: Medieval Pads.
Cloak: Fur Cloak.
Crest: Plume/Top Knot.
Loin Cloth/Strap: Leather Straps.

Anyways, if this goes well I am planning on ordering Chain Glaves for all of my main force and Visored helmets for my Scouts, plus one of the sniper rifles for my "Telion" counts as. As for my Captain I'd like to get a Spartan helmet with a crest and the bionic legs your showing off here.

Thanks, and sorry if this type of thing isn't meant for this thread, still a bit new to Dakka.

Hi Guys,

@HAZZER - Im afraid that gun straps would just be too fragile in resin. Its somthing which would have to be metal or "flexible" resin, and i dont work with those materials at the moment.
Thanks for the suggestions though!

@Miniholic - thanks! Some fully "pre assembled" versions are due next week also, as well as the new Steam Lord Legs.

@Stormsung,

Hi, of course you are welcome to post anything in this thread! We dont clean up mould lines, we just cast parts with no mould lines in the first place! (for the most part, we are not perfect!)

The combination of parts you list will fit together fine with no need for any green stuffing. The plumes have a "stick" which just goes on the top of the helmet with a tiny bit of super glue. It will sit neatly on any of the helmets/heads which have a flat top section.

What I would recommend is using a slower setting super glue - say 5-15 seconds, to allow you to ensure the position of the plume is correct.

Good luck with the project and thanks for your support!

Joel

Commander Cain, don't forget taht this is Anvil we're talking about here and not GW. Pretty pricey for Joel is £2.25 per set. I have just got 3 sets of fully poseable bionic legs, a double tap and basic Negotiator sniper rifle for under £10 + P&P. Not been able to properly look at them yet, but they look Spankin'!

I now have all the parts required for my 10 man squad of Omega Marines, so hope to get started on them soon.

@Stormsung -

Here is a Spartan Steam Lord weilding an autosythe -

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/120/413174.page#5085070

and in that thread in general (Commander Cains) there are quite a few images of assembled Steam Lords with various weapon combos.

@Kenshin - Yes, IceSword (Miniatures of the North) is still alive as far as I know! Hes just busy I guess.

@Hulksmash - I disabled it as I dont know when the parts will be ready and I still need to redesign it for two handed use, and im not comfy taking money for an open ended project, given my track record with hitting my own deadlines!

I hope to have the new Double taps ready for a print run soon as Im working on weapons CAD this week along side the new Legs. If you like, I can delay shipping your order and you can purchase the double taps separately?

Cheers,

Joel

I have the SAW, the ammo belt is in three peices, none of which come attached to the gun (so you could replace it with a drum) the problem might be that the arms are fixed to the gun and the part of the ammo belt that drapes over the arm is sculted to it, with some scraping and GS you could fix this though.

I personally think the belt looks great! its the first "heavy machine gun" I've had in my collection that has an ammo belt and looks like it has enough ammo

Indeed! Since the Knights of Blood are all close combat, I think I'll use those to replace bolt pistols on my more elite rank and file. (Most of the army.) I think those, plus Chain Glaives to all my assault troopers would cause enough fear, hm?

Wish I could test one out though, it's okay, it's just this paycheck isn't clearing fast enough.

@Kronk - the preview photos and leg options will be restored later today, the first WIP sculpts are sitting on my desk at the moment.

@SickSix - Yes. I will probably withdraw the medieval helmet and replace it with the updated full face grill helmet.

@Stormsung - Chain Glaives are pretty fear inspiring I think...

As promised some preview photos -

Here are the first assembled (but not completed) new legs - Praetorian on the left and Medieval on the right. The middle pair is one of the old style medieval legs for comparison.

Apart from the general improvement in quality and proportions allowed by 3D printed parts, Ive also scaled the legs slightly better (a bit bigger and thicker) and updated the designs.

I hope to release these first two sets on thursday.

What I can release now - Small "guard" scale bionic rifle arms! A set of 5 different pairs.

Cheers guys,

Your Arms are brilliant, without them my Pre-Heresy Morlocks would have looked awful - As it happens it looks like FW will be making them in the next 18months but mine are my own....

Quick question then, what are you going to do with the Medieval helmets you've already created?

Hi Everyone! thanks for the feedback/kind words.

@BlapBlapBlap - I like to do civilian/militia parts at some point but I wont have a chance any time soon im afraid.

@HAZZER - Yes, overlapping plate armour is a classic renaissance style, see here for example -
http://www.armouronline.com/product/7/renaissance_etch_ornate.html

So that will be the "renaissance" style armour when I get round to it.

@mwnciboo - Thanks for posting the photos - great use of the large bionics on that terminator!

@nkelsch - Yes I will try and get a scale comparison photo up at some point soon. - A medium scale leg is just over 15mm long from the top of the hip joint to the ankle where you would attache a hand.
Id not thought of using them for arms! Ill mention that in the description.

@Stormsung an Commander Cain - You're right, no point in withdrawing it from sale, Ill just have a few extra helmet options!

Cheers,

Joel

I really like the new medieval legs, and am very much looking forward to the full face grill helmets, they will be perfect for pre heresy stuff. In fact, all we need now is the backpacks, as I don't like the ones you currently sell much, I think they look a bit strange. But that's just my opinion, I guess new backpacks aren't high on your priority list, setting as you are doing a new range after all!

Hi Everyone - Thanks for the feedback!!

@ziiza1300 - Im planning to update the Turbine power pack and also do a "Tech" option at some point before April.

@Barzam - Im not sure what you mean by bio-mechanical armour? but I doubt it in the near future, Ive got a few more leg sets planned for the Steam Lords but after that im switching to human infantry and armour/aircraft.

@Guildsman - Nope Im afraid there is no timeframe at all, Its simply not possible to estimate as Ill only make a deadline and miss it!

@Icesword - looking forward to the new stuff and I promise Ill get the current batch moulded up soon! Ive not forgotten!

@Emperor Bacon - Any larger legs may well be a while away, I cant say with any certainly what I will get round to or when. I cant copy weapons from games, and wouldnt want to, Ive got my own plans for the smaller guns!

@Stormsung - Yep Ive added left handed Auto-Scythes for you.

@Barzam and Jehan-Reznor - The images are uploaded correctly now, please check and if you want alter your orders, email me and I can sort it out.

NEW LEGS!!! A bit behind schedule but now ready to order, aiming to ship out Tuesday 29th.

And here is another CAD preview - a human scale shotgun and set of 4 shotgun shells which can attach to the side of the gun. I will be releaseing a separate "shotgun ammo set".

The design is heavily influenced by the real world SPAS-12.

I will also be doing a laser rifle and some kind of double barrelled assault weapon as part of this initial batch of small guns, others may follow if the range proves popular.

Let me know what you think of this design

I like the shotgun, except for the barrel. I think it needs a muzzle break so that it's not just a long tube. The set of extra shells is also a nice touch.

The regular rifle looks good, though I'm just crossing my fingers that you'll make a variant with a box mag and sloped back barrel front a la the Exorcist-pattern (hopefully that makes sense to you). Will you be doing any carbine versions? And as I imagine that the current grenade launcher attachments would be too large, are smaller ones going to be in the works as well?

Regardless, I'm looking forward to ordering a whole bunch of things once you put the regular arms and a couple different guns in the store.

Thanks for feedback guys!

A few more guns and then this set is off to the Printers!

@Aegisgrimm - Yep its the bit I like the most as well, heavy armour that actually looks like it can move and enhance the users strength!

@LDD the human scale sniper rifle will be out with the other guns, when exactly depends on the printers but Im hoping for 2-3 weeks.

@Rayth Phaenor - Most shotguns dont have a muzzel break which I why I left it off, but I will have a play around and see if there are any additions I can make that look good.

I might do a box mag version, but Im not trying to duplicate the Steam Lord guns.

The current grenade launcher attachements are too big, I will not be making smaller separate attachements - to fiddly, but will probably make a rifle with build in GL.

The regular scale "Fatigue" arms will be sculpted over the bionic ones as a base, just need to find the time!

@Javin - A couple of styles of shoulder pad should be released at the same time.

Cheers,

Joel

@LDD - There will be mags already in the guns, and some spare mags as well on the gun sprues, no alternative options though, far to small. Im aiming for a target price of £1.50 per model for this regiments range, so lots of parts just isn't an option.

I will look at making a separate grenade launcher option. So long as it fits on every gun, it might be worth it.

Attached is CAD of the latest - a Laser Rifle and what im calling the "Firestorm" Carbine - shorter, with two barrels and a massive box mag, for room clearing and full on assault work.

Im going to send these parts to print later this week if I can sort it out.

Cheers,

Joel

You seem to be picking up the pace quite nicely with all these different parts Joel, don't let the momentum stop!

Those two latest weapons are beautiful, the double barreled gun is especially tasty looking!

Now that the first batch of guns are designed, may I ask what is next on the to-do list?

Question: when you add human arms, would it be possible to have arms that DON'T have Shoulder Pads?

Don't quote me on this but I think the idea was to have the pauldrons separate from the arms themselves anyway.

Thanks Guys!

@Commander Cain - I certainly hope to continue it, the plan is for one new release each week from now on.

Next on the to do list is some human scale heads, torsos and arms, and some more Steam Lord leg sets/ other misc steam lord parts. But Im not certain of the exact order.

In the run up to Salute in April I will be completing the Steam Lords range and making a start on the regiments range. From June onward Ill be moving onto tanks, flyers, Mech-Walkers and so on.

@Lord Castellan - certainly. Shoulder pads are critical to the "look" of a mini and not everyones cup of tea, so Ill be sculpting arms without pads, and then doing a few different types of optional extra shoulder pad at that scale.

Cheers,

Joel

Hey Everyone,

Thanks very much for your feedback!

Now that the small guns are sent to print, im at a rare moment today where I have a few projects to work on but nothing that needs doing right now.

Im taking this opportunity to put together the official "to-do" list for the upcoming months, and Id like your suggestions as to anything Ive missed - particularly items which have been suggested before in this thread but which Ive ommited from the list.

Anvil Industry Product To-Do list.

Steam Lords basic components-

Assembled Bionic Legs sprue.

5x complete bionic legs set - three poses. Cyborg Torso, head?

Commando Legs, Commando Torso, Tech style arms and Shoulder Pads.

Accessory pack - grenades, mag pouches, combat knives, holsters/ empty holsters.

Renaissance Legs
Turbine and Tech power plants
Grill Helmet

Weapons and Equipment -

Flight Pack and Wings.
Small Claws Pair
Shoulder Missile Launcher
Autocannon
Combined Specialist weapon/Carbine.

"Exo- Lords" in much bulkier heavier armour, various weapon options to match.

Jet Bike to fit Steam Lords.

There will probably be a few more additions over time, but once this final list of parts is completed Ill be working on other projects for a while.

Regiments Range - My upcoming range of slightly "heroic" scale sci-fi Infantry components - fully modular kits consisting of legs, torso/arms as a single block, heads and weapons.

Five new small guns (currently at the printers)
Various head/helmet options
2x shoulder Pad options.

Small Bionic legs set of 5, Bionic Torso and Head to go with bionic rifle arms. Initial "Cyborg" Kit.

Fatigue arms (no armour), Fatigue legs, tactical torso - the "modern" set.

4-6 more separate regiment options planned - Forest ranger, greatcoat, ice world, desert, heavily armoured etc.

All the regiments will include things like sniper/Heavy weapon squads, command squads.

Other Projects

Many - but not worth considering at this stage with all the stuff listed above to get finished!

So - if you want to suggest something for the next 6 months, or you have ideas for the existing things on the list, please post away!

In the meanwhile im going to get on with making up some bionic legs!

Cheers,

Joel

Holsters are on there which makes me happy.
Just remember, Human / Marine / Tau / Eldar / Dark Eldar style ones. I will buy many.

Furthermore...
Twin Power-Fist sets, Twin Chain-Fist sets, Power Feet... that'd do to start.

+1

I'm really excited for your range of human scaled pieces. There aren't a lot of good 3rd party options out there currently.

Arms are a big must so our troops can carry all the sweet weapons you make. I suggest making some arm pairs left handed for variety. Where do new human scaled arms fall on your project timeline?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I'm thinking your specialist weapons like the fusion cannon/ ion rifle are too big for human infantry.

Will you make a smaller scale version of these to fit humans?

Power Feet. Now there's an interesting idea. Would they be like the new Raptor legs with claws on them or something?

I still think the idea of having some bio-mechanical type armor would be pretty neat. Kind of like this one Josh Nizzi designed for the now pretty much forgotten game Fracture.

Way too cool looking design for such a mediocre game. This or something along the lines of the Guyver was the sort of thing I was thinking of when I mentioned it earlier.

@Alanmckenzie -

Planning them, but no idea when. Might do a facebook poll and see how much people want to buy them. Heavy weapon option seems sensible..

@Ovion - No power feet Im afraid, or Zenos Holsters - just not enough of a market to pay for the moulds, but everything else Ill consider

@COUNTS AS - I hope to have the initial arms and small guns sets out in the next 2-4 weeks. Ill certainly think about including a left handed rifle in the set. Specialist/energy weapons will either be scaled down, or places on tripods/ troopers with a big strap for carrying it and shooting from the hip, Im undecided.

@BARZAM - very cool concept, but not my kind of thing really.

@Zogg - noted - those bits will get done when I get round to vehicles, which might be a while.

I doubt Ill make a smaller double barrel shotgun in the near future, the current one is big on guard scale models, but not silly big, Ive seen people use them with catachans/cadians just fine, so Ill see if they work ok with my minis.

@HAZZER and Moltar - I will do my best but no promises.

@Asherian Command - Hoverbike is a bike "back to the future"?? Mabey Rocket Bike.. Ill have a naming competition those are always fun.

@Commander Cain-

I wanted to make the Exo-Mech Suit in time for last years Salute, but its looking like it wont be finnished till after this years salute!! It will be completed though, very keen to get that product out there!

Thanks for your feedback everyone!!

Ive been sitting on these for a while now as had no time to mould them over the christmas period, but very pleased to announce some new Miniatures of the North products from IceSword.

New Fallen Dwarfs - Some Crossbow equipped infantry, and this command group-

Also some new items for House Crowmantia - A new Cult Leader, and Heavy weapons trooper, and these guys are my favorite of the new stuff - A High Priest and two Acolyte helpers.

There will be some new Anvil stuff - mostly Bionics, out toward the end of next week.

Cheers guys -

@ziiza1300 - Yes there certainly will be! I intend about 10 regiments in total eventually, but it depends on how sales go.

@Jehan-Reznor - Exo-Lords are on the to-do list, I have a working sketch for the Rocket bike, hard to describe, Ill post a mocked up CAD sketch at some point.

@Commander Cain - Yep, Minor pricing error there which Ive now fixed, for the past 9 hours its been possible to order 180 dwarfs for £22.50 due to an error in the listing!

Icesword does swing by here so Ill let him answer the question.

I think the tox troops will be great as well!

JET/ROCKET/HOVER BIKE -

Jehan_Reznor mentioned this - Im running a poll at the moment on facebook -

https://www.facebook.com/AnvilIndustry

Its looking like a pretty popular option, so hopefully Ill be working on that in the not to distant future, probably doing a pre-order for it to cover the development costs.

I think mechanical backpacks have been mentioned before, no harm in asking twice though!

Oh. I also noticed on your site that you mention making rules for a wargame. Let me be the first to say that on no account are you allowed to stop making models and whip up some rules instead! There are heaps of sci-fi wargames out there, what we need are sexy models to play them with!

@Icesword - Thanks! Looking forward to the new stuff, but no rush at all.

@LDD yep Ill sell them "as they are" on that sprue, and then also as sets made up with left hands pre-sculpted on, to form part of my "regiments" range.

@Commander Cain - the torso can be any from the range, I just need to decided if Im doing separate legs or a single peice with the legs built into the bike.
Id hope to do separate legs with a few options.

Dont worry - with my work load of new minis to get out, a rules system/games universe is A LONG way in the future.

@Kitch102 - Its been suggested, and Id like to do a mechanical repair kit, but its not a priority at all at the moment.

Today I completed some Steam Lord Bionic Legs, and some fully bionic "Cyborg" legs, release new product on Wednesday I hope.

Cheers,

Joel

Do you lie awake at night worrying that existing 28mm Jump packs are unrealistic and would kill a user almost immediately?

Just me then..

Here is a mock up of the Anvil Jump pack, this is 30 minutes work so very rough shapes at this stage.

Its different from existing products in a few key ways.
-Has a fuel tank so the engines actually work.
-Has small wing surfaces so the user can actually steer it and get some horizontal lift at speed.
-Has a number of smaller steerable VTOL style nozzels, again so the user can actually pilot it and switch between hover and flight modes as needed.

I would release it as a three part kit, the central engine/fuel tank, and wings that can angle and rotate depending on the minis pose.

I would also do a version of this pack with giant feathery wings which I have in the works.

Id love your feedback on this design before I spend hours detailing and completing it.

@azazelx - Yes of course, LOTS of new stuff planned.

The main things are tactical/SWAT style Steam Lords currently in the works, and various mechanical cyborg type models,
Plus the first bits and peices in the regiments range including these new guns.

@ph34r - Im not sure exactly, but its somthing like 5-10 times the resolution of shapeways best material, so basically a flawless part with no print lines whatsoever, unless you have a microscope.

@Javin - Yes of course I will have separate arms, but the main format of the Regiments range will be kits consisting of-

Legs
Torsos and arms as a single peice - several different poses
gun with hand already on foregrip, which attaches easily into each torsos
Head.

Making them like this means a basic figure is 4 components, which makes it feasible to hit my target price of £1.50 per miniature for really high detailed resin figures.

@Blackhoot and Barzam - they dont eat much food, takes time away from cult activities..

Cheers guys,

Joel

NEW PRODUCT -

The Medium Bionic legs have prooved popular, but I appreciate they are a pain to assemble, particularly multiple sets!

So here are two brand new options for getting our Bionic legs in a much more convenient format .

First up the "Steam Lord Bionic Leg Conversion Set"

Including Medieval and Praetorian legs with half Bionics, and one fully Bionic pair.

And for people who want a whole unit of uniform looking Cyborgs - the "Cyborg Leg Set"

Five Leg parts (three different poses) with the same combination of bionic parts for each set.

You can add more poses/customise a squad leader using the "Multi Pose Bionic Legs - Medium" product.

Both available now from the store here -

@azazelx - Yes of course, LOTS of new stuff planned.

The main things are tactical/SWAT style Steam Lords currently in the works, and various mechanical cyborg type models,
Plus the first bits and peices in the regiments range including these new guns.

All this in the next 3 weeks? Bloody hell, Joel. How am I supposed to afford all this?

Please put both of these into the "Complete Miniature kit" line. I'll buy 4 more squads at least on top of the other stuff I was planning to get.

Offering pre-set leg poses AND fully modular versions of the same legs is the perfect solution for customers - yay! Hope it's not too much extra work for you, Joel

I, too, greatly look forward to some larger leg sets - seems a bit unfair that the big guys get bionic arms but no legs

I can't believe I've not noticed this before. Fantastic looking models. Already contemplating what I want to order. A few questions though. Any future plans to do legs in the style of the medieval ones but without the rivets? I'm guessing they're not something I would have trouble scraping off myself so not really a deal breaker.

Along the same lines, for anyone that has them, how hard would it be to remove the stock part from the arm? Since I'd be looking at using these with a certain futuristic sci-fi game, and swapping in the appropriate weapons, I'm worried that the stock part won't look as good with them.

@Derek, I can say from experience that the rivets on the legs slice off no problem, same goes for the stocks. Should be as easy as giving them a quick snip with some clippers and then neatening it up with a knife.

Nobody else on the market provides human-sized hooded heads...

Would it be possible to provide IceSword/MotN's Crowmantian Infantry heads separately?

@scipio - Yes Im going to sort that out, the cyborg legs will be a standard leg option, the bionics will be an "upgrade choice" of sorts.

@Clang - nope not too much effort, though I have to draw the line at some projects/options for the sake of my sanity.

@Sgt.Roadkill and Charax - they will be released along side my larger "Exo Lord" Miniatures, which will fit the large bionics and large shoulder pads I currently sell.
This project is not a current priority though, It will be summer at the earliest, sorry thats not very helpfull!

@Derek - thanks very much! As Commander Cain says, not to much trouble to remove them.

I am soon releasing a more modern looking leg set with no rivets, which you may like the look of.

The Stocks will work with the "other guns" you mention if you cut a bit off the back of the gun, but thats probably the same amount of work as just removing the stocks from the arms. Once the shoulder pad and gun are in place, a lot of that area is covered up anyway even if its not too neat.

@absolutionis - Its certainly posible, but the Crowmantian heads are actually probably to small as they are "true" proportions, so unsuitable for use with heroically scaled miniatures.
My upcoming "Regiments" range will certainly include human scale hooded heads though.

thanks guys! I've had a weekend off work, but Ill be back to the grind tomorrow and will have some new stuff out later in the week.

Cheers,

Joel
