From memory the old epic bases were 20mm square.

Really glad to see vanguard come out with more epic minis!
I bought a guard army last year and put them together in the summer. I added green stuff camo cloaks on all my guys to fit my regimental theme.
I was really pleased with how they came out.
thinking of picking up another army so I can play armageddon with people who don't have their own armies.

Post by: Malika2
Read the post my friend ;-) I'll put the quote up (bold for emphasis):
Released today is the first set in a new range of Novan Elites in a variant armour design a theme I hope to expand on in the future as we develop the Defeat in Detail universe further. For now we have Novan Elites Affray squads. Note this first set contains carbine armed troopers and sergeant figures only, squad support weapons will follow hopefully before months end.
Those will cover stuff like flame throwers, microwave guns, and what not. Other stuff such as jumppack wearing troops, close combat troops, heavy support, etc will also be done. You can eventually also expect other more exotic variant as well as corpses and such.

Message from Vanguard Miniatures:
News flash,
The second batch of Affray has already been sold out, but a further batch is already inbound for later this week. I also have the main Regulars Siege infantry sets here to sort and bag they should be up in the next few days, as well as Skinners infantry leaders and more Centurion tanks.
Re-stocks are understandable slow at this time but stuff is trickling in and many items are on order. I apologies that so many items are out of stock but there's not much I can do about it I'm afraid, Covid has disrupted manufacture and supply.
I must thank you all for the many orders placed over these last few months really appreciated.
Cheers John
In the meantime, a small teaser of things to come:

- Dominion (Vanguard's own game system)
- 40k Apocalypse
- Star Breach
- Horizon Wars
- Polyversal

- OGRE
- Xenia's Rampant (based on the very fun Dragon Rampant)

I am planning to use some of the Strike Legion rules, either Strike Legion Tactical or Strike Legion Planetary Operations.

Can't give clear ETA's on the restocks, the whole Covid-19 thing complicates matters. Some of the ships should be back soon. A little message from Vanguard Miniatures:
General stock situation
The stock situation is currently in flux, due to the large number of orders received over the last two months demand has outstripped supply. Covid 19 has caused huge delays on both manufacture and resupply and I don’t see that changing any time soon. I do have items trickling in all the time but overall re-stock supply is slow so please be aware of that.
I do have on order around 60 moulds to be run to bring the stock levels back to some semblance of normality but I have no idea when any of these will start arriving so its a waiting game I’m afraid.
Expected in this coming week will be another batch of the very popular Affray set B and a few other Elites sets will be back up amongst others. I also have in now several new release items that will start making an appearance in the coming weeks.
Plastic strips bases are also here and will be back up in store as soon as I can find time to count and bag some.
Finally I’d like to announce a shutdown period that will most likely be at the end of this month nominally for a week. This will mean I will not be accepting or processing new orders during that time. Reasons are many but I need to step back and take a break from processing orders in order to tidy up loose ends, take stock of the business situation and inventory remaining stock amongst other things.
Kind regards John

ORDERING DISABLED
As previously notified in my last news message I will not be accepting orders for this week commencing 25/05/20, to that end the ability to order on the website has been disabled. I will obviously process and ship any orders received up to this time as usual, and will notify you all when ordering has been enabled again.
Reasons are many but the need to address loose ends, inventory stock, and generally access the business situation requires me to free up the time necessary to pursue these tasks.
I would like to thank you all for yet another bumper month for orders it is greatly appreciated, stock levels have been hit hard with many items sold out. Re-stocks are still understandable slow but items are trickling in all the time, I will keep you all notified on this, hopefully with many businesses seeing staff returning to work now we will see the supply situation improving.
There will be several new releases lined up for next month including 3mm aircraft, the new Eloi grav-tanks and the long awaited Airborne troops.
Stay safe people regards John

A close-up of the relatively new 'Affray B' squads. Very crisply produced, some minor flash to tidy up but very good considering the scale, and no mould lines to correct.
The miniatures on the bottom row were some really nice 'officer' type miniatures (look like an array of melee weapons, and the helms of the miniatures have a crest).
I'm hoping there will be a special characters or heroes release for this 'B' variant at some point?
And them painted up as Pre-Heresy World Eaters

A little update:
Ordering will be reactivated this Wednesday. Anyone browsing the site may have already spotted the new releases, 3mm planes and the first of the new Eloi Federation models plus the airborne demolition drones. The airborne troopers and specialists sets will follow next week.
That being said...
Novan Regulars Airborne – Demolition Drones - £3.00
Novan airborne forces make use of remote controlled demolition drones for attacking hardened targets such as bunkers, they have also been known to be used against armoured vehicles on occasion.
Set contains:
6 x Demolition drones with operators
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/novan-regulars-airborne-demolition-drones/
Eloi Federation – Infantry Detachment - £8.00
The Eloi Federations standard combat troops armed with rail rifles.
Set contains:
2 x Specialists sprues
6 x Troopers sprues
48 figures in total
Figure height: 6.5mm to the eye line
Models painted by Stig Kelly
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/eloi-federation-infantry-detachment/
Eloi Federation – Tempest Grav-tank - £8.00
Tempest grav-tank
The Tempest is the most commonly encountered anti-gravity combat vehicle of the Eloi Federation. A swift and highly manoeuvrable vehicle combining unprecedented mobility with lethal and highly accurate firepower.
Tempests are known to be crewed by two Eloi, a pilot/driver and a weapons operator both of which sit in the small rear compartment. The apparent central cockpit is in fact a highly advanced sensor array, real time data gathering module and terrain following suite linked directly to the crew by a neural linked helmet interface. This gives both crew members unprecedented situational awareness of their surroundings on the battlefield.
Common armaments for the dorsal turret are a high energy long barrelled laser cannon deadly against armoured targets in combination with a tri-barrelled pulse laser providing rapid fire capability against infantry and light vehicle targets, other weapon combinations have also been observed.
The graceful curvature and the thick well slopped composite armour plates of Eloi vehicles provide excellent protection from enemy fire but it is the tanks speed and agility that is considered to be its primary defensive measure.
Set contains:
3 x Tempest grav-tank hulls
3 x Tempest turrets
Model approximate dimensions: L 41mm, W 26mm, H 7.5mm not including turret
Models painted by Stig Kelly
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/eloi-federation-tempest-grav-tank/
Eloi Federation – Zephyr Grav-tank - £8.50
Zephyr recon tank
The Zephyr is an extensively modified version of the Tempest grav-tank created to fulfil a reconnaissance role for Eloi armoured battlegroups. Modifications for this vehicle include further silencing of the already quiet main drive engines and the fitting of a chameleon like cloaking field array to the forward hull sections that when active mimics the appearance and colouring of the surrounding terrain rendering the vehicle extremely hard to see. The rear compartment has been extended backwards allowing room for a small scout team to be embarked as required.
Armaments are usually of the lighter kind than seen on the Tempest as the Zephyrs roll is information gathering and observation of enemy activity ahead of the Eloi advance not combat. But on occasion it has been recorder that Zephyr stealth attack squadrons fitted with heavier firepower have been used to great effect in aggressive hit and run attacks on isolated enemy formations and lightly defended positions.
Set contains:
3 x Zephyr grav-tank hulls
3 x Zephyr turrets
Model approximate dimensions: L 46mm, W 31mm, H 8.5mm not including turret
Models painted by Stig Kelly
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/eloi-federation-zephyr-grav-tank/

3mm Skinners – Fighter Squadron - £4.00

8 x Skinners fighters, 2 of each variant
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/3mm-skinners-fighter-squadron/
3mm Novan Elites – Spiculum Heavy Fighter Squadron - £4.00
Set contains:
6 x Spiculum heavy fighters

3mm Novan Regulars – Hurricane Ground Attack Fighter Squadron - £5.00
Set contains:

I'm considering that in the long term.
Initially though I'm primarily planning to use them as basing models for a Titanicus force. I'm thinking of having small mini-dioramas on the titan's bases of world eaters rampaging trough the city in support of the titans.
Now that you remind me, I should really make some updates to my dakka log on that army. I have quite a few new models done, but just forgot that thread.

Would be interested to see how you get along Zywus!
I have made a blog over on B&S about my progress of creating an 8mm World Eater force (although am going for Great Crusade-era, rather than strictly Heresy-era).
Hopefully will give you some food for thought!
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/355088-world-eaters-of-the-great-crusade-an-epic-blog/
I think 8mm is ideal for representing the Crusade and Heresy, and has gone full-circle from where it all began.

Little update from Vanguard Miniatures:
Due to a backlog of orders building up I have chosen to disable ordering on the site again for a day or two. I do so loathe to do this but needs must, I will enable ordering again either tomorrow or Wednesday and I will have the new Novan Elites special weapons set available at that time.
PLASTIC BASES
Currently the stock of all three plastic bases we do are either extremely low in stock or sold out, re-stock orders of all three have been submitted and we should start seeing these arrive over the next 3 to 4 weeks or so.

Space ship update:
FYI.
Posted up this notification on my website Panthera product entry.
THIS WILL MOST LIKELY BE THE LAST BATCH OF METAL CAST PANTHERA BEFORE I MOVE OVER TO MOSTLY RESIN CAST SHIPS, SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THAT. THE MOULD FOR THIS MODEL IS SHOWING SIGNS OF WEARING OUT SO THESE ARE NOT OF THE SAME QUALITY AS USUAL BUT STILL OF VIABLE USE, FORTUNATELY MOST OF THE WEAR IS IN AREAS THAT WILL BE COVERED BY THE "WINGS" OR WEAPON BROADSIDES.
So this latest batch will most likely be the last metal Panthera available, if any of you guys/gals still want metal versions then you will have to snap them up once ordering has been enabled again either tomorrow or Thursday.
Cheers John
Get them in metal while you can: https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/novan-elites-panthera-ii-class-heavy-frigate-x-2/
Aaaaaand, another little update:
Ok time for some good news.
The first of the Zeus class vessels has entered production, the little Destroyer squadron will be the first release of this ship class, the frigate and cruiser to follow at a later date as circumstances allow.
These are actual production casts samples sent to me yesterday.

There is a stock update this month I believe.
I know bases are due in along with a few other bits.
If you drop them a message on Facebook messenger asking about stock of a specific product they are generally extremely fast on getting back to you and letting you know.
For me, their models are solid and just getting even better but their communication is top notch.
Really can’t recommend them enough.

So this just happened...
Skinners – Hurk Heavy Bomber And Transport Plane - £28.00
The Hurk is one of the heaviest of the Skinners aircraft encountered to date, commonly seen in two variants. The strategic heavy bomber variant has twin bomb bays for heavy ordinance deployment as well as being able to drop lighter bombs from the rear drop down ramp position, the wings can also mount bombs or rockets as required. The transport variant replaces the bomb bay with troop benches and sports heavy machine guns for self defence, alternatively the troop benches can be removed in order to make space for logistics operations.
Fixed armaments include two forward facing twin medium cannon on the fuselage, a rotating twin machine gun turret in the dorsal position and remotely operated rear facing twin machine guns on the tail, other armaments have also been observed.
This is a multipart resin and metal kit with modelling options.
Resin parts:
1 x Fuselage, 1 x Nose section, 2 x Wings (port and starboard), 1 x Vertical stabiliser fin, 1 x Horizontal stabiliser wing, 1 x Bomb bay module, 1 x Transport bay module, 4 x Engine intakes, 4 x Engine thrusters, 4 x Hull fixing dowels.
Metal parts:
I x Skinner Bombardier, 1 x Bomb bay ramp open, 1 x Closed ramp, 2 x Fuselage cannon, 1 x Dorsal turret, 6 x Machine gun barrels.
Model dimensions: Length 115mm, Wing span 140mm
Games Workshop Ork fighter (used without permission) shown for scale purposes only and is not included in this set.

I have painted up a detachment of the new Affray B squad heavy weapons - these are in Great Crusade/World Eater colours (with some trusty old classic GW Land Raiders for accompaniment).
Have to say they are lovely little sculpts. Almost no flash and hold just the right level of details for the scale I think, so you can do everything you need with a wash and drybrush.

Most baffling one might be the BMP-1, which is... well, it has fuel tanks inside the troops' exit doors. I starts at "ridiculous" and goes up from there:

Managed to paint up a few marines. The new Affray Squads are fantastic sculpts. You can tell the forefront maniples are older sculpts, they feel a lot blob-ier, but as with everything in this scale that's no huge deal. (The dread is an old Epic one, not from Vanguard)

Malika made a really good observation in this thread, the classic Plastic titans scale really well with the Vanguard 3mm ranges.
aphyon wrote:Epic scale is best for the true scope of 40K...at a fraction of the cost as well as space required for storage and transport. you can build all those armies you always wanted to build when your bank account told you no.
Agree totally <£100 for a complete army most of the time (you can probably do it even cheaper). There are a few guys doing some really mental armies as well (if you have a look at the 30k armies thread down in the GW Specialist Games forum). I'm trying for about 20,000 points worth of Crusade-era World Eaters, which will hopefully encompass at least half a dozen titans, 4-5 infantry companies of marines, tank and artillery companies too (am about 1/4 of the way along so far!)
kestral wrote:That is really cool! Singlehandedly makes me want to get into a new scale, just because of the ranks of tiny dudes.
Definitely think there is something to be said for the look of the massed infantry, titans, vehicles etc. It sits far better I think at 6-8mm than it does at 28mm, where at that scale the vehicles and titans completely dominate what looks much better as an infantry/platoon level game.

Malika made a really good observation in this thread, the classic Plastic titans scale really well with the Vanguard 3mm ranges.
Even if they are a slightly larger scale the titanicus titans look close enough. i have a reaver as you have seen in my pics and it doesn't look out of place.

Well considering 28mm 40K was always described to the players as one little section of the front in a larger battle. epic scale is the entire battle.
If i allied all my imperial forces i am looking at
13 aircraft (3 superheavies)
25 vehicles (6 superheavy/titans)
129 infantry.
Not quite as many as you are looking to build.....but i have infected other players at my store. one has some black templar, another khorne, another thousand sons, one with an huge tau army, and the imperial guard guy with the artillery company with defense in depth.

Little random release, not meant as a replacement for the existing Centurion Main Battle Tank, but a hull variant of it!
Novan Regulars – Centurion Exposed Tracks (Hector) - £8.50
The centurion main battle tank is the most common tank used by Novan Regular forces in the field a rugged and heavily armoured design it has been built to be a reliable and easy to operate vehicle capable of going long periods of time between maintenance cycles making it the perfect machine to equip Tusculum Nova’s armoured divisions.
The designs has seen many weapon fits over the years but the most common armaments (hector configuration) are a regular tank cannon in the turret backed up by a fixed forward hull mounted laser cannon. In addition the hull sides can be configured to mount a sponson weapon most commonly a HMG for close in anti personnel protection.
This model is a regular Centurion tank without track guards.
This set contains:
3 x Centurion hulls without track guards
3 x Hector turret sprues
3 x bow machine guns
8 x hatches (6 closed, 2 open)

Eloi reinforcements!
Eloi Federation – Way Seekers - £3.50
Eloi Federation Way Seekers
Function:
The Way Seekers of the Eloi Federation function as the leaders of Eloi Battle Contingents, and are to be found serving at all levels of command from Detachment Commander to Battle Group Leaders. They have many specialist branches within the Eloi’s military establishment. Highly intelligent and extensively trained the “Seekers” as they are commonly known have studied the art of war in all its many aspects and are therefore opponents not to be underestimated.
Equipment:
They wear a modified suit of Eloi battle armour and robes made of an unknown fabric with several remarkable properties which will not be elaborated upon here. Armaments carried by such individuals include conventional Eloi small arms as well as the favoured “great sword” a melee weapon capable of piercing even the mighty armour of our Novan Elites. Certain individuals have also been observed as carrying the less common spear and rarely a staff which may serve as a badge of office.
Observed abilities:
Redacted by order of the high command – Magenta level clearance required.
This set contains:
12 x way seekers
1 x master seeker

Novan Elites – Guardian Tanks (Turnus)
- £9.00
The Elites Guardian tank is yet another product of Tusculum Nova’s most advanced research and development programs to equip it’s Elite forces with the most powerful weapons and equipment that can be provided. Guardian’s are intended to act as front line main battle tanks a roll originally filled by the older Scorpion designs which have now been relegated to a supporting roll for the mechanised squadrons. The hull bears a similar appearance to the Mauler assault transport and was developed alongside that vehicle. Although smaller than the mauler it is none the less a very potent design heavily armed and armoured with an impressive turn of speed .
This particular variant of the Guardian utilises the latest turret design commonly found on many new production run Trojan IFV’s with in this case a twin 20mm rotary-cannon mounted to either side of the commanders hatch these cannon are devastating in the anti-personnel roll and they are extremely effective against light vehicles also. Two sponson mounting points are also available these can be fitted with several weapon options with either the standard laser cannon or heavy machinegun being the most common choices and there is also a permanant forward hull MG fitted as standard.
In the guardian elite forces have a highly versatile and potent battle tank able to survive in the deadliest of warzones.
This pack contains 3 x guardian main battle tanks with rotary cannon turrets.
Model dimensions are: 30mm long, 22mm wide not including sponsons, 15mm high to top of turret.

Ships News
After much thought I decided to dispense with the funding campaign and press ahead with self funding a bunch of the ships myself.
The Panthera frigate and Lynx destroyers previously manufactured in metal have now been slightly remodelled and remastered for resin casting. These three ships are now being moved towards printing the masters and then moulding. Hope to see them re-released very early next year.
Zeus pattern vessels, the destroyer as you are probably aware has already been released. I have now received sample production castings of the cruiser, light cruiser and frigate which I have authorised to be manufactured ASAP, the casters predict a late November delivery date for the first batch of those. The Spear pattern prows will also be available around the same time.
Picture of all four ship types below.

Ultimately I'll be needing a second display case. There's no way I can't start a new Imperial fleet with Marine auxiliaries and Rogue Traders for starters. Then there's the 3mm Titan legion forces I want to do once we FINALLY get 3mm Leviathans. I'll probably source Ork gargantuan options elsewhere as it doesn't look there's much movement there for now.
And then there's whatever happens with Tainted and Skinner ships...

3mm Novan Regulars – Warrior II Assault Gun Platoons - £3.00

Do keep in mind that painting 3mm isn't really harder than 6mm, especially if you're using GW's Contrast Paints. You can paint entire formations pretty fast.
Here is a simple painting tutorial to do 3mm tanks.

Another thing about 3mm is that whatever difficulty in attaining a quality paintjob caused by the small models can be cancelled out by the way you can turn each base into a diorama, such as https://www.instagram.com/p/BnQ56HzCw6k/ and
https://www.instagram.com/p/BnYDG-RChI7/. It is also very good for mass formations: https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/1035987-Sohfull1.html
As for 3mm shipping containers, my plans for 3mm necromunda are looking a bit more realistic with the release of these.

Very nice!
I will get these, but just to mix in with assault troopers (dual pistols being the preferred John Woo way of shooting at someone! )
The same with the heavy guys will work well as just specialist/heavy troopers.
I know these are meant to be 'proxy' as Destroyers, but I think the FW concept of those miniatures is just such a wasted opportunity. "The most deadly troopers of the Legion: Nuclear, chemical and other forbidden weaponry, the trooper's armour blackened by the exposure to deadly radioactive weaponry, and the marines that carry them not expected to live for long...let's arm the miniatures with.. *pistols*... "
They should have been bristling with all kinds of ' WTF is that?!' style equipment, like the Legion equivalent of The Expendables. Instead, a massive wasted opportunity.

Hey, I already have some 6mm vanguard stuff and I love it.
I'm looking at playing some 40k in 15mm and want some "not space marines".
Has anyone got a photo of the basic 15mm Novan Elites that are painted? The "not terminators" look great but the photos on Vanguard's website for the other 15mm stuff aren't the best at helping me visualise what they'll look like when painted.
Also, 15mm type B elites would get so much of my money.

Ah that's a pain Albertorius, hopefully you won't have to wait for too long (or get too much tax on it!)
It will be interesting if some of these types of producers that are based in the UK start selling through EU distributors, it would probably make it a lot more straightforward. Perhaps some enterprising individual with their own miniature sales could approach John @ Vanguard?

Novan Elites naval reinforcements inbound!
First up, the Panthera Heavy Frigate has been re-released in resin.
Nova Elites Fleet – Panthera II Pattern Heavy Frigate
The Panthera class Heavy Frigate is the workhorse of the Novan Elite fleets. Heavily armed and armoured, its various weapon configurations allow it to fulfil many different void combat roles.
No matter its broadside configuration, the Panthera’s basic armament includes two triple linked dorsal mounted turrets and two pairs of prow torpedo tubes. Its broadsides allow for different types of weapon systems which can be changed whilst in dock due to it’s modular design.
Most commonly used are weapons batteries, more than capable of tearing huge chunks out of enemy vessels many times its own size. Another popular configuration for the Panthera is to fit it with launch bays, allowing the heavy frigate to carry Javelin fighters. In order to protect other ships of the fleet from waves of ordnance and enemy fighters the Panthera is sometimes also configured with broadside turret platforms capable of projecting a withering volume of defensive fire.
set contents:
1 x Panthera hull
1 x Wing set (forward and aft)
2 x Triple turret broadsides
2 x Launch bay broadsides
2 x Gun deck broadsides
2 x Triple dorsal turrets
Model is 52mm long.
Resin cast model
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/novan-elites-fleet-panthera-ii-pattern-heavy-frigate/
And then there's a completely new ship, the Pardus Assault Frigate!
Novan Elites Fleet – Pardus Pattern Assault Frigate
The Pardus pattern assault frigate was a developed born of a need for a heavy hitting escort fitted with multiple plasma accelerators. The design is based on a modified Panthera hull which sacrifices its broadsides and torpedo capability in order to house the power core and systems necessary to feed three massive plasma accelerator cannon. Capable of firing all three cannon simultaneously in a devastating salvo that has been the doom of many an enemy vessel these ships are a extremely valuable asset for any Elites fleets.
They are often deployed in squadrons of two to four ships operating in line-breaker formations or as capital ship hunters of some renown.
Set contains:
1 x Pardus hull
1 x wings set (forward and aft)
2 x triple barrel dorsal turrets

New fortifications are out, they're compatible with the heavy rotary cannons and the heavy laser cannons.
6mm Novan – Heavy Ordnance Bunker
The heavy ordnance bunker is designed to be built into terrain features for increased protection and concealment, the reinforced roof also provides excellent protection for the turret from enemy air attack Typically found near large military installations and other high value assets they are often well camouflaged and difficult to spot until they open fire.
This model kit consists of three resin cast bunker components and has been designed to take one of vanguards heavy ordnance turrets.
Turret and figure shown for scale only and is not included.

That Arvus model was part of the black market forumware models, never stocked by Vanguard Miniatures or any other company. Basically fan produced models that saw circulation in the Epic community.

Reinforcements inbound!
Cybershadows:
Cybershadow – Praetoria Set 1
The Cybershadow Praetoria as we have designated them are an oddity within the Cybershadow military structure, although they can be seen operating and supporting other Cybershadow forces from time to time they seem to be an independent element not under the main chain of command. Their place within the Technocracy is not fully understood and is still open to some debate within military circles but it is known that they are an extremely aggressive and highly mobile force.
Set contains:
15 x Cybershadow Praetoria in four poses
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/cybershadow-praetoria-set-1/
Cybershadow – HK-1L Hunter Killer Combat Automaton
Another battle robot fielded by the Technocracy, the HK-1L is a dedicated rapid strike unit tasked with seeking out enemy vanguard formations in advance of the Technocracies main battle line and attacking those formations to cause maximum disruption. The designs long legs contribute to its high attack speed and elevated line of sight on the battlefield. The HK-1 is well armoured for its size and incorporates a defensive energy shield emitter located on its back. Two modular weapons hard points allow for the fitting of various weapon systems with energy based weapons being the most common.
A variant of the HK-1 the HK-1T has been observed operating in poor terrain and replaces the units legs with a large high speed track system providing excellent stability and good ground pressure in challenging terrain conditions.
Set contains:
2 x HK-1 hunter Killer robot torsos
2 x arm weapons sprues
1 x legs sprue
Figure shown for size purposes only and is not included.
Bases not included.

Novan Regulars – Siege Troops Heavy Anti-aircraft Gun Crews

not really news related, but I've ordered from Vanguard a few times over the last couple months - excellent prices, excellent casts, and amazingly cheap shipping for roughly 5 days transit from the UK to the US (east coast)!

Post by: Wha-Mu-077
Is it really fair to praise the sculptor for taking an existing model, nearly exactly replicating it and down-sizing it? I mean, it is impressive but It's also not actually their design.

New little terrain piece:
Heavy Ordnance – Energy Cannon
This cannon is the same model as can be used to upgrade the Novan Elites forward operating base bunker model.
We have several planned uses for this model which is why this version comes with power cells that will be a part of a future release.
Set contains:
1 x heavy cannon
2 x cannon armour plates (left and right)
2 x cannon power cells (left and right)
1 x cannon turntable
Notes:
All components are 3D printed resin.
Print supports have been removed but some clean up may still be required.
Novan Elites figure show for scale purposes only and is not included.

Beautiful! How do the power cells connect?
9394
Post by: Malika2
And here is the answer you seek:
They do not connect, the power cells are components related to the cannon for a future model and have been included with that model in mind. Note also that the whole set could be used on a certain famous companies big walking robot with huge cannon model if you were so inclined, use your imagination here. The cannon itself was created for the new printed FOB model being released soon.
Novan Elites Forward Operating Base (FOB) before anyone asks. The cannon is an upgrade for the heavy bunker module.

I like the FOB already!

Beautiful work on these. Will there be releases with higher walls?
9394
Post by: Malika2
Not sure, this will all kinda depend on the sales. I know this item was a pricy one to produce (original plan was to have it cast in resin, but that was too expensive), so John is sort of waiting to see how these kits will sell before doing further investments in them.

These look quite cool... does Vanguard have plans for releasing STL files, maybe with a KS/Patreon/whatever as Troublemaker Games did with the extra stuff on theirs?
Printing is a hobby unto itself, for me, and I'd much rather pay for the files.
9394
Post by: Malika2
At the moment I really doubt that would happen any time soon. John isn’t too keen on the files just proliferating everywhere once made (semi-)public. For now Vanguard Miniatures will mainly focus on physical models, be it through casting or a Print on Demand like service.

It will save you a TON of cash
And you get to use all those forge world models you could never afford.
my mechanicus force i have would have cost me close to $700 US just to get all the cataphron breachers in normal scale. i got them from vanguard for about $20
It also helps you have multiple rules sets you can use from the original epic, the new apocalypse or as our group does index 8th ed with halved ranges.

Sadly enough I doubt either will happen anytime soon. Vanguard Miniatures have always been focussed on 6mm scale (with 3mm, 15mm, and fleetscale being sort of secondary). As for selling STL's, from what I understand Vanguard are pretty reluctant about that, considering how easily those files could then be shared around.

Set contains:
1 x Lynx assault hull
1 x destroyer parts sprue
Notes:
1. Resin cast model
2. Model approximate length 45mms including prow mounted plasma accelerator
https://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/shop/novan-elites-fleet-lynx-pattern-assault-destroyer/
Novan Elites – Lynx Pattern Destroyers
Lynx class Destroyers are small and fast craft that are capable of quickly delivering their deadly cargo. For its size the Lynx is heavily armed, making it a jack of all trades. Its basic armament includes two dorsal mounted twin turrets to take out incoming ordnance, and two pairs of prow torpedo tubes. Its broadsides allow for different types of weapon systems which can be changed whilst in dock due to its modular design. Most common broadside configurations are either weapon batteries or launch bays for a small compliment of fighters.
Its diverse armament is also its main disadvantage. A lot of space normally used for supplies such as fuel, ammunition, foodstuffs, and oxygen is sacrificed for the Lynx’s many weapon systems. What this means is that the Lynx needs constant resupplying, making it incapable of long independent missions away from sources of supply. Because of this the Lynx is often deployed on short duration missions only, when not operating as part of a larger battle flotilla.
This set contains:
2 x Lynx Destroyer hulls (1 x batteries, 1 x launch bays)
2 x optional wings sets and twin turrets
Notes:
1.Resin cast models
2. Model length approx. 38mm
3. Flight base not included

Completely agree
I feel the same way with Epic and the "I wish GW would bring Epic back" comments. The games, the communities, the miniatures (and these days, lots and lots of miniatures) - yes there are no starter sets that cost £100 in GW shrink-wrap, but really that's the only thing missing.

That's good to know !
'til now, we only saw ships with a "moderate" size. Do you have the intention to make way bigger ships, like battleship or dreadnought size ?
Don't misunderstand me, I love destroyers, frigates and cruisers all the same, but it would be nice to have a broader roster I believe.
