Made another 9 objective markers x2 of them sets,nearly done already lol,made over 20 in the last few days!,on a roll so building them all while i have the will to do so.

After someone scooping up all the Militarum Temptus start collecting boxes in the area, I've purchased a pair of the Militarium Tempstus Scion boxes and will be assembling them. My Inquistor(whenever he shows up) will have a fine escort.

Stripping my old horrors; painted them early on.

After being the agent of Cypher's escape, I am in the midst of repairing him from a decade in someone's bitz box.

After leafing through my Imperium 1 Index, my son mentioned that he would like to field Flesh Tearers (he plays Orks right now). On my last day of vacation I dove into the darkest corners of my bitz boxes and came up with a bunch of my 2nd Ed Space Marines in various states of paint and completion. While painting over Dark Angels livery with Khorne Red was an affront, my son now has the core of a Flesh Tearers force that he can try out and build on. A Tactical Squad, a Devastator Squad (with the old over the shoulder mounts), those hilarious one piece plastic Scouts from 2nd Ed, plastic Terminators from Space Hulk, a Dreadnought and a Captain stand ready to, well, tear some flesh. I am working up the courage to paint over my old metal Dark Angels Assault Squad. They were a key component of my 1997 Canadian Grand Tournament force, but since 3rd Edition came out they are unplayable in their current modeled force (lots of power weapons). Since Dark Angels cannot have Vanguard Veterans I am preparing to paint them over to get them back on the field of battle.

Going to paint up some Kataphron Destroyaz

With a very rare cool morning and not too much humidity, I'm actually going on a priming binge. I had way too much stuff that was still gray plastic, but now I'm at least making a huge dent in that pile. Priming my Razorbacks in Caliban Green will save so much time over painting them green with a brush.

Played a game of 40K. Orks versus Tau. Tau stole the Initiative and alpha struck with predictable results wiping out four of my units with his two Crisis suit units and their drones, Steal suits and Commander. With the homing beacon they landed within Flamer range and the rest was history. What remnants that were left charged and killed off some drones (most died from flamer fire and then he flew out of combat on his turn).

I got a hold of some eldar guardians (plastic but i'm not sure from when) for extra cheap! i am going to paint them... rusty orange. and other colors too, but i like the rusty orange.

Assembling a Callidus Assassin and some Guard models to fill in the gaps created by reorganizing the regiments for the new edition.

Later I'll be trying to get my Intercessors done. Having really painted anything in close to a month.

Taking it easy today,made a dozen sprue mushrooms,was running out.

Finally got my first DA. tac squad based and varnished along with a test paint of a terminator, all from the Dark Vengeance set. The termy was OK so more are on the painting table. Pox walkers next though.

Built a 10 man squad of Militarum Temptus Scions. I immediately wrote out having additional scions in my list. It was the best kit ever until I tried to assemble it. Now I never want to see a hotshot lasgun ever again.

Basing a primaris 5 man squad plus the jump pack guys' bases.

I'm planning on making a true scale rhino. Only thing I'm stiĺ not sure about us wether I should make some modifications to it and make a mould for it. What do you think? Is a true scale rhino something you would like to have?

I also discovered that the Citadel texture tool is really useful in smoothing out decals.

Got in my third game of 40k.
We played with just the contents of one Dark Imperium.
Took us nearly 4 hours to get to turn 5.

We're both older and enjoyed talking a lot during the game and were verbatim reading sections so we got them right.
Beginning to wonder if 2k points is even reasonable for our older, more casual group.

And if it isn't, then 1k will work just fine. Really liking this edition.

Making yet more weird tanks. Unfortunately one of the latest lot actually saw service instead of just being on paper though.

Assembling some Tyranid gaunts i forgot about,then add them to the prime at some point pile,while reading some battletech stuffs.

Made a few small adjustments after the photo to tidy up the text and added a little more Nuln Oil to draw out the wings.

Stabby LT will become a chaplain once I pick up easy-to-build reiver box set.

Captain has already been repurposed as a librarian.

Painting up an Exorcists librarian dread.

Putting together some of the Easy-to-build Primaris Marines and Death Guard from the First Strike box.

In spite of a billion distractions, I'm finally approaching completion of most of my 1500 point BA list.

All that remains for me is to buy a chaplain and librarian and it'll be ready. Though I do have plans for adding some death company now...

My opponent today cancelled, so I've been watching TV and painting in lieu of actually getting a game in.

I finished painting a box of Zoanthopres/Venomthropes to get my previous split box to the new min size.

My order of spray paint has arrived so I'm going to start work on painting terrain tomorrow if the weather is suitable.

I just played in a 22-person ITC event at my FLGS. I ran Dark Angels. My first game ended in a loss vs. a Tyranids/Genestealer Cult list. Second game I squeaked in a tie vs. an Astra Militarum armored/artillery list. Third game I destroyed a Tau list. Finished 10th out of 22, so great improvement over last month (where I finished 19th out of 22). I'll put up an after-action report in the Dark Angels Tactica thread shortly.

Some nice minis on this page folks, good work.

I put in a couple of hours on my second DWT squad. Big stuff is all done, just the teeny tedious details like seals, dangly dark angels stuff, eyes, etc. Starting to look like terminators but there's a fair way to go yet.

I actually got something accomplished today.

Finished painting the last dread in my retro Blood Angels army.

Now I just need to paint the 10 assault marines, 2 tanks and 3 bikes, as well as the auxillary characters like the Sanguinary priest and Techmarine, then I may be close to done

Built a second Tempestor Prime that does not look like a Prime.

Ran a 6 player Batman Miniatures tournament today, went very smoothly and managed to pull in a few new players who were spectating. This evening I've been reading through some recent comic runs to get inspiration, and sometime in the week I plan on painting the rest of what I need for the next tournament I'm attending in 2 weeks time

Finished painting a Leman Russ and a Chimera and also primed & based a squad of regulars, Heavy Weapons Squad, 3 Commissars, 2 Primaris Psykers, an Inquisitor, and Coteaz yesterday. Now will get to painting the infantry today.

I am going to play a game of frostgrave which i have hopes will be fun. Wizzard time.

I'll be working on the Inceptors from Dark Imperium.

Trying to stay Motivated all of the time with enthusiasm is not easy,especially after a big project has been completed,referring to the green stuff bits i had to mass produce for objective markers,so today i'am forcing myself to get back into the painting side of things,by finally finishing a 5man ultramarine tac squad that are 80% painted just lots of annoying highlights to do before basing,hopefully once i get the snowball rolling again it will expand leading to other things.

Finished priming my Reivers and Repulsor. Gonna go play a game later on, then start painting my jump captains tonight.

My Fleet Commander KS stuff finally got assembled and added to my original copy of FC: Ignition.

Try to fix my Leman Russ tanks after I discovered that, after 4 years of owning them, I had glued all the commander's cupola hatches upside down. I have no idea why I had glued them this way and continued to do so with Leman Russes for several years.

Moving lots of boxes on miniatures to the new house, wondering why on earth and indeed how on earth, I've ended up with so many

Finished the day by completing the bases for my home converted Primaris apothecary and chaplain.

Finished the highlighting on some lascannon devs, then picked out the rivets on a Land Raider. Might get a little more time later on and I'll work some more on that.

Painted a unit of Plague Monks and a Priest and Warpgrinder to accompany them.

Helping in the recovery and psych assessment of my Soviet Team Yankee commander who, after deciding to start an invasion of West Germany, found him being chased out of Moscow by Germans...

Suffice it to say mistakes were made, lessons will be learnt and its time to draw a line under this and move on...

I'm painting up my first squad of celestial Lion primrus marines. Very excited and very nervous too.

I am sorting through sprues, trying to make sense of what i can use and what i should just toss.

I've been working on my celestial Lion intercessor squad. This is my first painting project in like, a decade, and I'm not sure about the final result. Sorry for the crap photo too. Bad camera.

After a lengthy hiatus I finished painting/dipped 10 assault marines yesterday and started work on Jain Zar - will likely work on her today and perhaps finish the marines w/ basing.

Maybe work toward some Chaos Obliterator kit-bashes as well.

Today I'm going to put some more paint on my Bloodreavers, although I'm going to be taking a break from that in the middle of the day to watch the total eclipse. Wish I could find a way to commemorate the event in my miniatures, but nothing comes to mind.

Painted the Russ and hate the paint job - what works in 1:100 scale doesn't work so well at 28mm. Debating if I should bother stripping the paint.

In the meantime assembled another 5 cadian guardsmen. Just in case someone complains about my non-standard guardsmen again and I have to do a last minute swap.

More perililous "whif" models. You start out wanting to make one thing, but then little by little it becomes something else. This time I wanted to make a StuG IV mounting an 88mm gun, then it turned into a Jagdpanzer IV Lang Ausf. E, before becoming a Sturmpanzer III/IV thing. Ah, most people just stick some extra stowage onto their Panzer IVs and call that a conversion.

Making a final push to finish 20 more new marines and reivers.

Space Wolves Wolf Guard on bikes. It's almost too much wolf to wolf. Bikes basecoated, everything assembled. The minis are now officially at the part of the process where they kind of look like crap though. Using bits from Space Wolves Pack, Wulfen, Space Marines Bike Squad, bolters & fusion gun bits from ebay for the combi-plasmas.

Something a little different from me for this thread.

I've finally after 2 years of delays and excuses started making my games/hobby room. Put the shelving up today, I'm hoping to be able to make a start on the table over the weekend provided I can get my bathroom finished first (got to reseal everything). Still need a few bits and piece for the table like some cork to act as sound deadening and a few screws and things like that to hold everything together but the main bulk of the table is sitting in the room ready to be put together.

Once it was built I spent some time this afternoon tracking down all the board games in my house and getting them on the shelves. The next job will be doing the same thing will all my wargame and RPG rulebooks.



I still need to track down some chairs for the room and I might get one of those nice Ikea glass display cabinets to put my painted minis in but it feels really good to finally after 3 years of living in this house and 2 years of having most of what I need to actually have made a start.

Oh I've also been doing some mini painting today. Started working on some minis for Flintloque, got one half of the Bier and Bones starter set painted, I'll base them all once the rest are painted.



Yay for productive time off work.

Spent the last few days working on an Imperial Knight Freeblade, properly painting again for the first time in a long, long time and actually keeping it going, unlike the many false starts over the last four months.

Ran out of primer so getting sad.

In the world of ridiculous WWII stuff today I've been having a go at making a Jagdpanzer 38 (d) - the German built version of the common Czech 38 (t), known commonly for the "Hetzer" derivative. Whilst starting out with some spare Hetzer parts I realised that I couldn't use any of them. The tank's completely different in the smallest of ways (glacis angles, distances between components). It'll be fun to stick a regular Hetzer next to it when its done to compare the two.

Sounds like an awesome little project Wyrmalla, some of those obscure German WW2 prototypes or low run vehicles can be really weird.

Today I'm painting the other half of the Flintloque starter set, doing more stuff in the games room and making some scenic items on my 3d printer.

Glued on the 6 little jewels that get mounted on the two wings of the FW OOP Wave Serpent. Need to get this one finished for a game on Saturday otherwise I have to amend my list.

Today is a day of relaxing, yesterday saw a couple of games of DBA with my New Kingdom Egyptians - easily the most ancient of the ancients armies at FLGS.

Thinking I need something even more ancient...

House move essentially complete, modelling stuff on hold for a bit until I unpack, but hoping to actually play a few more games now

Clear, dry weather, so I'll be getting the rest of my Marines basecoated and then trying to get a squad of Hellblasters finished.

As for me, I've been building some more wraith guard for my eldar and another tactical squad for my Thousand Sons (also working out what to order from FW, the Castellax Achea are simply beautiful). On top of that, my skaven plague priest has finally been painted (after almost exactly a year of battles as a grey plastic figure :( ), so now all I need are a bunch of Fenrisian Wolves to convert into beasts of nurgle and the new snail guy and my (ch)AoS army will be done! Just Finished painting all the weapon and equipment options for a leman russ tank,just getting them out of the way for when i eventually paint the tank,later tonight going to undercoat a batch of 6mm-world war 2 ships and equipment,maybe get a layer or two down on some of the smaller pieces.

I played a game of pandemic, which i have somehow never played before, in spite of the fact that i love cooperative games. We won, but it was on beginner mode.

I have also painted a spear wielding soldier for frostgrave. She shall serve the Bear Wizard well.

Today I made a start on my gaming table. It's going to be a very simple design, 2 kitchen cabinets placed back to back with a 4'x4' top. I'm going to cover the top with cork or thin foam sheet to act as sound deadening and then have card table felt on top of that. Got the first cabinet built, going to do the second tomorrow and see if I can do the top either later in the week or next weekend.

Today I'm going to finish off my Khorne Bloodreavers, ready for use as Berzerkers in my Chaos Space Marine army. A week after I had hoped to have them done . Oh well, they were a lot more detailed than I thought at first; doing ten in a weekend was an unrealistic goal, especially for me. Honestly, doing them all in 8 days is pretty good, so I can't complain too much. Once they're all finished, I'll put them in my blog and get back to my Primaris project now that the burnout on those has worn off some.

More paint and some sealant onto my Realm of Battle Board.

Helping a friend fix his vanguard veterans. Apparently, he took a tumble and now most of their arms, waists, and jump packs are separated.

Just finished emergency postertacking 10 penal troopers and inquistorial acolytes. Meant to have them painted and assembled for tonights game, but I've been too lazy.

Did some painting in the great outdoors!

Only a single mosquito bite was suffered!

Unfortunately the weather meant my paint was drying out on the palette and the brush far more quickly than I could handle; the resulting miniatures are pretty crappy and I think I trashed a couple of brushes, but it was worth it for the sheer joy of painting outdoors without being eaten by insects!

I'm painting some stormcast fellows that i have had sitting around waiting for a while. they shall be painted in the finest green, another green, and a green that is shiny like scales. They shall be snakecast eternals.

Getting the base paints done on five 6mm WW2 landing crafts,maybe finish them off late tonight.

Got a unit of Hellblasters done, along with some Intercessors with Auxiliary Grenade Launchers to beef up my squads and an Apothecary. All set for my next league game on Saturday.

Textured the bases on my helblasters. Just need to paint the rim of their bases, apply static grass and shoulder pad decals and they're done.

That will take me down to 34 models unfinished once that's done.

20 GSC neophytes base coated khaki.

After finishing Dante yesterday (see blog below), today I'm moving onto a split day of starting to paint my first intercessor squad and building my Redemptor Dreadnought.

I've just spent a rather pleasant hour cleaning up and assembling some minis for Flintloque. Sadly I can't get them primed this evening because it's pouring with rain, hopefully I'll be able to do them tomorrow morning before work so I can start painting tomorrow evening.

Hazard lines on cataphractii terminators, and I stripped and cleaned my airbrush ready for painting some pauldrons. Been a fun day

Prepping Massive Darkness for painting. The mould lines are not too bad, but it is about 150 models so not a quick process.

I've started painting the first batch of the Flintloque minis I put together yesterday. As with the other minis from the range I've painted recently they're pretty simple but very characterful sculpts with nice big details that are easy for a fumbler like me to paint.

Just completing a trade. Not much else I am afraid.

I've had a pretty good day so far. Before work I was able to do more painting on the Flintloque stuff I've been working on. This afternoon I was able to bunk off work early and used my time to finally make my games table (see my plog for details *cough* blatant plug*cough*). Hopefully this evening I'll get a little bit more painting done.

Just Finished an ultramarine terminator captain,about to finish up 8 hex bases with various toppings,for use with making battletech civilians&scientists objective markers.

Finally forcing myself to finish painting and assembling my victoria miniature female 'arcaidans'. It's a nice professional soldier look, but I was annoyed to realize they are a foot shorter than their male counterparts. Going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Received the old Khador starter set in the post so trying to fix the badly built models. :(

My Adventures of Smirking illustrations are fast turning into some kind of children's book. I once retold the story in verse and couldn't resist this time putting a few appropriate lines in. Grimdark it ain't!

I'm putting some transfers on my latest batch of Intercessors, or rather trying to since they keep tearing. I'm starting to get pissy about that now, so I'd better take a break and do something else for the rest of the night rather than make a bad situation worse. Deep breaths...

Just Finished the Kromlech ork Operator/Driver,Moving onto an old Blastabike&Rider.

Built an Old West water tank/tower...and sadly ran out of my last coffee stirrers (went through 700+ doing a mordheim board, and I burned up the last 300 on some other projects). Ordered a new box...

Played my first Malifaux Tournament.

Picked up a The Battle for Ironhold boxed set for Kings of War yesterday, reading the rules while I let the sprues' primer dry.

Painted up more marines. I should get the lion symbol from shapeways soon, to complete these guys.

Painting my Blood Bowl Slann(Frog man) Team by Talkfantasyfootball member J-bone.

These were from his Kickstarter and they are, without doubt, the BEST Slann team ever made.

These Slann and Games Workshops 2nd ed Skaven team are the 2 best sets of miniatures ever made for Blood Bowl.

Gonna try and mostly finish my Intercessors tonight apart from basing, and I may go ahead and start on the Captain in Gravis Armor since I'm way behind on my Dark Imperium goal.

Finished my water tower...built some more 4Ground rail-road tracks (nice, but christ that kit sucks), then broke up some old tree/forest bases and re-based some of the trees. Reworked some of the tree trunks. Dug around and found some teddy bear fur to re-do the roofs on some of my Old West buildings.

Started building my own Shipping Containers for 40k.

Finishing off the bases on my Immortals so I can clear coat them and fighting the urge to buy a new army because I saw a good deal on eBay.

Ended up getting some work done on a long standing idea/project...getting my old heavy resin FW aircraft mounted on the new GW plastic flying sprue. Started that job and posted progress in my Elysian PLOG.

Edit:just managed to glue myself to the table,and drop and break a model,calling it a night,clearly tired.

Patiently waiting for some Mordheim terrain to show up, and some Battlegroup rulebooks to show up (yay for reading). Unfortunately we're on the outside loop of our normal UPS driver so this stuff normally shows up in the evening...(le sigh)

Their poses suck for close combat dreads, but for mortis dreads...

Painted up three ruins from the Red Vectors set I ordered for Mordheim --- have another seven buildings to work on. Also laminated a bunch of Battlegroup reference charts --- aaaand received test prints for my Warhammer 40K tokens.

Finished the majority of the primarus marines i will ever need

need to fix 1 sergeant, make 3 more with power swords then the characters.

Made magnetised movement trays so that I can use my daemons in Kings of War.

I painted up a tiny frog and put it on top of a tank

Painting hellblasters today. Because my copy of destiny 2 is taking a full day to download.

So finally got around to finish my knight. Did not turn out exactly as I wanted but turned out to be a great learning experience. Also, I now hate painting yellow with a passion.

I just played in a 40k tournament today. Worst tournament finish in a very long time, since I failed to win a single game. Just happened to draw three very bad matchups plus I'm very new at running a Chaos Marines army. Has me feeling very blah about 40k in general right now. On a brighter note, I did pick up a box of Start Collecting: Chaos Space Marines, which will become a Helbrute for my Death Guard (also usable by my regular CSM), a squad of Noise Marines, and either a Termie Lord or Sorcerer, depending on my needs once I figure out what's actually good in that codex.

Played a game of AoS.
We played 1k on a 4 x 4 table using the new Open War cards.
Since we play so infrequently, 1k is actually about all that makes sense for us to try to manage. So a start collecting box is not far from being a viable army in our group

Fixed another PLOG, although I used the bypass photobucket rather than Imgur this time.

Painting some 5th ed bret horses with the old empire armoured horse heads.

Anyone got some good guides for painting horses or barding?

I remember an excellent Eavy Metal guide circa WD199 that showed common markings and how to paint them... Any helpers?

Finally going to strip my Fire Prism's underside. The all I need to do is glue the whole thing together, and my 2 heavy support choices will be done!

Got my ass kicked in AoS again.

Still working on those horses!

Fixing areas where shade had over pooled or settled wrongly. Brightening tone on the flanks of the horses and doing some edge highlighting on the barding to create definition where there was previously poorly detailed lumps of old plastic.

Managed to break one horse off its base, and the tail off another. I am too clumsy :(.

Tried giving one of the horses brown hair, but the black one looks way better against the red barding. Will probably do the remainders all as black.

This is taking way too long for what was meant to be a quick and dirty bish, bash, bosh job to finish the stragglers of my old Empire army!

Painting more of my horses black!

When I move back home I look very much forward to replacing my worn old paints and brushes.

I played an AoS game using the open war cards and it was interesting! the ruse never came up, and man, i forgot how good gors can be at moving in and laying on lots of attacks when things go right for them.

Things went wrong for me as i was the one getting hit by all of those attacks but it was still fun.

Built the base for my first shipping container...it was too large for heroic scale models so some adjustments will be necessary.

splurged on more models

got the primarus captain, chap, dread and aggressors off screen.

got most of it built and painted yesterday

Making some templates for low res sci-fi APCs.

Managed to get an overall shape I was happy with while minimising components.

Realised the dimensions I was working with was of so had to restart.

The rebooted version is currently just a cuboid (but I reckon correct dimensions).


On a largely unrelated note, I realised the side view silhouette of an old VW Transporter is rather similar to that of a Citadel Rhino model!

Shipped of a package of bits. Broke up my first Shipping Container terrain to cut down and make smaller.

Finally got myself started again by greenstuffing used AA batteries to the back of my chimeras converted to Hellhounds. It actually looks pretty good as fuel tanks.

Today I worked on assembling ten Nurgling swarms, and 50 Plaguebearers while watching The Librarians. I could have had more done, but I tend to get distracted when watching TV.

Ah well, I should be able to finish assembly tomorrow.

Well, I'm going to finally assemble my Fire Prism, and maybe get some more veterans painted up.

Put some paint down on a few Batman/Marvel models over the weekend, and ran a Batman tournament at my FLGS today. Hopefully tomorrow I finish some stuff, mainly my SWAT cops, then I can put some more work in on some terrain and the big characters

Finished my Aggressors. Now working on my second unit of Hellblasters.

Did some work on my Shipping Container terrain, it is almost done (although without the magnets I was planning on adding to the bottom and top). Did some more work on two burnt forest terrain pieces.

Spray paint mishap on one of my conversions so quick dunk in iso and get sad

Just played a game of 40k; my Iron Warriors CSM vs. my friend's Genestealer Cult. We played a Kill Points mission and I won 11-10 (he got First Blood, I got Slay the Warlord and we both had Linebreaker). A good close game. While I was at the FLGS I picked up my pre-ordered Death Guard codex and the big guy himself, Mortarion!

Painted some SAGA vikings.

Started on a second Shipping Container terrain, base portion is completed and started on the ribbed siding. Did some more work on two burnt forest terrain pieces.

Started base layering infantry so I could say I did something. Did a shiny metal primer from Army Painter on my hellhounds. It worked surprisingly well, although the batteries required a second coat.

Working on rescuing more trees...and I ordered some Wood Glue Max, some chisel-tip xacto blades and a new box of 1000 coffee stirrers since I blew through the last box pretty quickly.

Will probably clean up some Eldar infantry if I get a chance.

I'm working on a set of desert hills.

Here's the proof of concept piece for the materials and techniques I'm using:

As you can see they store quite nicely once piled up against each other.



They are very versatile and are a great mix of board coverage and convenience. I'm also using just cheap materials so these come dirt cheap and are very lighweight to carry around.

Started painting some Sarmatian cataphracts for historical gaming... somehow got it in my head that their scale armor should be purple and did not check a reference.

Of course, after painting a few, I finally decide to check the references and can't find a single purple armored Sarmatian cataphract anywhere, so I guess I've got an extremely unique tribe here!

Still working on those old horses!

Doing the fur on the heads today. Once this is done everything on the horses will have been base coated, some pieces even highlighted and shaded, satisfactorily... except for the bare metals.

Once metals are done I'll do some grass clumps on the bases and call it done for now.



Hopefully I'll be taken to the hobby shop today to pick up a Revell War Trukk boyz!

At the least I plan to raise the Trukk's suspension (maybe having to fabricate new axels/breaks/etc and swap out the weapon for something more modern. I'm tempted to even cut out the engine and create a new bay for it at the front of the model so it more closely matches the modern silhouette.

Finished up most of the models I had planned yesterday (finishing the last tonight) and then getting a start on some Infinity stuff so I can play my Steel Phalanx list fully painted.
