Working on my HMG Kriza and trying to do justice to the detail on the armour!

Our group played a Mad Max style game called Broken Axles. It's available as a home-published PDF for $10 or so from the author. The layout of the rules is absolutely amateur but the game itself is a basic speed and shoot fest. We had fun so that's what's important.

The other two guys also played a game of Frostgrave, another initiation to the rules game for the newest player, while I sat that one out and watched. We talked about doing an upcoming campaign so we'll see how that goes.

Went and bought this little beast. Now to think what to do with painting. Keep or strip and if strip how?

I would definitely not strip it! From the pictures, it looks like the paint job was fairly well done, i.e. not lathered on with a mop, so just paint over it. I doubt you'll lose any noticable detail.

Back OT, I just broke out my recently purchased Horticulous Slumux...I love this model...and he's getting assembled tonight. It's Nurgle time, baby!

I put together my Captain Naverez stand-in for the most part. I just need to order more of the appropriate backpack to match the other HQ dudes I made.

Australian Aldi has got in its Christmas nativity stuff today and I managed to pick up 3 packs of Lemax 13 miniature trees.

Missed these last year when I wanted them for Frostgrave and Infinity. sNow I have some.

Put 2 layers of yellow to blood angels leaving just red for armour airbrushed. Also put on first coat of gunmetal for knight that has waited like 2 years for paint! Then finished up Custodian HQ conversion, custodian with their special power fist conversion and 2 guardians with special spear(1 of each). Now once I get all custodians painted I have 2 squad of 3 spear guys(both having special spear, different ones for both squads) and 3 sword&shield plus HQ. Strong small ally group for blood angels.

Oh and initial paint strip test for resin model. Last night I simulated painting by putting in several layers of paint for couple resin pieces and today I stripped them. Also got big enough container that can contain the warhound titan. Next step would be try stripping paint from one piece of titan(luckily several parts are still held by blutack rather than being glued. I'll take one of those as first test piece before working on main body or legs! Hopefully the real deal loses paint as quickly as the test pieces!

Started work on some industrial terrain, trying my hand at applying rust.

Gave my Tyranids a test drive with the new book, facing IG infantry and hellhounds - was bound to be a quick game, didn't expect to win at the end of my second turn though.

The new rules for the army and 40k generally are brutal

Took a break from the oop metal Warp Spiders and did some early work on 7 oop metal Guardians.

Cleaned, trimmed, soaked, soaped and dried my Leviathan dreadnought...will plan the assembly/painting for tomorrow, base layers at least if it all fits together.

Was reminded why I dislike resin.

Put on 2 layers of red for rest of blood angels so blood angels all done for airbrush stage. Next I'll start working on rest of colours.

Started stripping paint from the warhound titan starting with smaller separate pieces. Need to buy more paint removal a bit to deal with the bigger pieces but paint goes away even faster than I hoped for.

bit more work on an Ork Truck, essentially finished ten boyz except for basing which I'll start tomorrow and assembled three killa kans, which are apparently rubbish but are amazing models, plus I wanted the flame thrower from the box and once a box is open..

Painted a celestial guard yo test the colour scheme for my ISS,

Stripped warhound though maybe second bath for legs. Alas while weapon glue broke loose it was shoulder to body so not help for making swappable weapons. Have to think if there was way to dissolve glue without harming resin

Ran another outing for Hive Fleet Turnip, 2k game, defeat, but managed to kill Girliman with Hormogaunts.

Enjoying the new book a lot.

Also picked up a box of objectives because they look like something that will be useful

Finished my Space Hulk set, now working on a Callidus Assassin and basing a Stormtalon.

I've started working on a small force 19th century Prussians to use for VSF games. Not got too far yet, just got the basic colours on the first batch of infantry. Hopefully I might be able to finish them off later today or early next week at the latest and start to work on some more VSFey parts of the force in the form of steam automatons (I also have a tank that I'm saving until the end of the project).

Flatted and based my Leviathan which has now...stalled waiting on magnets for the arms.

Assembled the 8 genestealers from the new Start Collecting box. Man, light and day difference between those guys and the ones from my battleforce.

I've cut all the rippers from the sprues. Debating if I'm going to base them

Little bit of work on my Warp Spiders...they are becoming the Warp Spiders that never end. I just cannot get the helmets to the look I want.

Went on a spree. Finished my genestealers, worked on termaguants (need to magnetize next and I'm avoiding it :p ) And have 3 bullgryns 90% assembled except for their magnets.

Played a game and had 3 bits fall of of my last made unit of bullgryns. Stupid models are easy to build, hard to mod because of all the closed space.

I am trying to keep myself from breaking my berzerkers in half while i paint them. Look, i know you guys are supposed to be "glass cannons" or whatever but this is ridiculous.

Managed to finish up my Leviathan weapons and received my magnets in the mail...only to realize they were too big (measure first people!). Other magnets en route. Leviathan left to make "pew pew" noises on my painting desk instead of on the battlefield.

Convering chaplain and herald for Sons of Horus. That chaplain crozium needs straightening up. Maybe I just need to drill a hole for it...

Head coming later via mail. For herald considering swapping plasma pistol for close combat weapon. Power fist more efficient maybe, power sword more fun and LOT easier to give.

Also finished the squad except for left shoulder pads that will have to wait for next forge world order. Can still start painting them before that though.

Working on bases for my blood angels now that I bought materials on tournament. Need to start working on painting models themselves. Airbrush stage done, next up edge highlights, metals and black parts.

edit: Also started working on the contemptator. So tired of the standard static pose that I'm willing to accept loss of quality as long as leg poses are at least LITTLE different.

As for what I'm doing today, I just bought one of those Citadel painting handles, so I'm going to try it out tonight. I also picked up some Blightlord Terminators for my Death Guard. Been wanting some for a while, and now I've got them. On the actual hobby work front, I'm continuing to paint my Dark Imperium Plague Marines and assembling a couple of Chaos Rhinos for my Alpha Legion.

Finally. Finally magnetizing the thrice damned TermaGaunts. I don't know why I keep putting it off, but I'm not going to be happy if it goes to after Christmas.

Currently watching the weather hoping the rain holds off long enough that I can basecoat my Custodes Tribune once I'm home from work.

After that, I'll be working on my Callidus Assassin tonight.

I played a game of AoS, and lost by one point. Just one point! And with most of my army intact whilst my opponents was decimated. General dead, supporting characters dead or seriously injured. 5 out of 8 units eliminated, with casualties on the others. I only lost two frigates and 9 company fighters.

I blame the dice. The amount of 1s I roll!

Started a base for my third oop Wave Serpent. While doing this I noticed my other two are a little forward heavy despite the resin crew cabin, so adding white glue through the base holes to add some weight there so they are balanced.

Did some more terrain work, got enough now to comfortably fill a 3' x 3' (our table can't really take a 4' x 4' ) and wound up with this:



Still need to paint way too much, but at least there's enough terrain (and height) present now to make 3D games of Necromunda more exciting when we get to them. I also have a load of old resin barricades and plenty of scatter to fill the more open spaces with, so no shooting gallery in the future either.

Finally got the magnets needed to finish this fella...

Been preparing scatter terrain/cover for 3D necromunda games. Got about 2 barrels painted, 1 barricade, a ladder, and some of those old forcefield thingies from the battle of macragge set. It's definitely not enough, but it's something to do while waiting for my boxed set to come in the mail.

Playing a 1500 point game tonight, then I'll stay up late assembling a Knight-Castigator so I can basecoat it tomorrow.

mucked up my paint schedule, normally have the next thing built, based and primed before the current thing is finished, painted three kans that took less time than expected..

So today built and based the next ten orks, a deff dread and some nobz.

paint workshop thin at FLGS on Sunday so aim is get them primed tomorrow and take some of them down to work on

Picked up the new Necromunda starter game plus cards for both gangs and the Gang War supplement. So I went from being completely caught up to having models to build and paint again.

FLGS had a hobby day with a local model making club, for my part I took some primed orks down to get a bit of work done on - was do it there or do it at home, this way I had the incentive to get on with it

Painting up some WW 2 Italian infantry and armour in 1/72 scale for a change of pace. I've had some of this stuff unpainted for 30 years!

Finishing touches on the Callidus Assassin and some base layers on a Knight Castigator.

Painting up some weapon options for some Predators and painted/dipped my custom chapter master for my Renegades.

Built three neurothropes. It was hell getting them to stay on the bases long enough for the glue to bond.

Back to magnetizing termagaunts

Cleaned a lance of Draconis Combine mechs. A Hunchback, Banshee, Panther, and Dervish. Painted the Hunchback.

I don't play or really know anything about Battletech, I just picked a color scheme and decided to make a lance.

Finishing Swamp Thing and Black Flash for Batman, then doing some more work on Zur-en-Arrh Batman and starting some terrain pieces. Might also start on Shang for Malifaux as well, now that I've finished my vintage Misaki to go with it

I restored a squad of Terminators using some spare bits I bought from ebay. I kind of messed them up in a hack conversion job for my 30k army (This was before cheap plastics). They had been just sitting in pieces for awhile. It feels nice restoring some busted miniatures back to combat ready condition.

Last batch of orc bodies from the Mantic Orcs Army set, painted with the Army Painter Greenskins set, and other paints. Mantic has a Black Friday sale going on.

Need to clean up house a bit so hobby time is limited but I'm going to arm wrestle lazy bum me and start working on the damn terrain! Time to start scetching out modular(ish) terrain board. Some roads and then canal running around. Not 100% modular in that I don't think all sections are going to be 100% rotatable(there are some combos that won't make sense with roads ending middle of nowhere and canal of course is big issue) but scatter terrain/buildings hide some of that.

Next needs to figure how to DO those roads and canals. Was thinking of sanding roads for slight dent to simulate pedestrian walking area. Canal needs to get deeper cut though(about 4cm is doable on my 5cm deep boards)

Just finished up Swamp Thing and Black Flash, Zur-en-Arrh will be done tomorrow (all he needs is his cape, gauntlets and boots to be washed and highlighted in purple). Built another squad of British Airborne for my Bolt Action force though, so all in all I got a fair amount done today. Aiming to have all my terrain finished by the weekend and for my Black Friday orders to start coming in, otherwise I'll start working on the Watchmen for Batman

Today I'm bringing some paints out of the hobby area, coming upstairs to kitchen table and painting alllll day. alone.

I've been learning a lot about multibasing too recently, it's probably my favorite aspect of KoW right now. I haven't tried doing anything fancy, but it's neat to see the amazing things that some people come up with.

Fell asleep instead of doing anything productive yesterday, debating if I'm going to finish the gaunts.

Preparing terrain for Necromunda, just got the starter set in today. This terrain will function the same as the shorter barricades for the most part. The Escher models have some small fiddly parts, which i'm not very used to. Luckily I managed to not screw one of them up too badly...i'm hoping paint will correct the sloppy cleaning work.

Finished up my ISS starter last night.

Finishing my Combi-flamer acolytes, 3 flagellants, a Jakero, an eversor assassin, and an Adeptus Arbite (crusader). Everything should be done by thursday!

Got my ass kicked in 30PL game #1 of escalation league. 12" max visibility(increasing by 6" on 4+ starting 2nd turn) with deployment zones up to middle of board(but at least 3" from enemy) is REALLY tough scenario for IG to play with Faced dark eldar, made bunch of tactical mistakes(shouldn't have disembarked with plasma special weapon squad as well as flamer squad though thanks to poor rolling was irrelevant anyway) and forgot stuff like doctrine(though not sure I actually ever stood still and fired...) and orders.

Though again wouldn't have changed. It was decided far outside my commander when vendetta with special weapon team tried to get objective but failed. 5 wyches ate total of 18 flamer hits plus whatnot and lost only 2. One even ate lascannon hit to face and lived to tell the tale!

After that painted more blood angels getting first layer of metal for all.

Just bought a copy of Company of Iron (Privateer Press' version of Warmachine without warcasters or heavy 'jacks) and was kind of stunned at how hard to build the models are in this "starter set".

I've built and started painting the warpigs (farrow or something?) I hope these aren't typical PP plastics, as they were terrible to put together, and have lots of obnoxious flash on odd places that are hard to clean up (e.g., the models' faces!)

Since I disliked the models so much, the only way I could get motivated to paint them was to try weird colors for practice (and cuz it's funny). So here's my WIP:



The game does look neat (I find Warmachine too complicated, but this looks like a really nice balance of cool mechanics without too much of that "I didn't know your models could do that???" nonsense that 'machine is full of) but I'm so turned off by the dreadful plastics that I'm not that interested in playing now....!

I'll be laying down some first coats of paint on my Escher gang, and then either assembling the Goliath gang or painting terrain.

I think I'll save the terrain to break up painting the detail on the Eschers - sometimes I need to break from fine detail and just do some drybrushing for a bit!
I also plan to give the December WD a thorough read - I've only had a cursory flick through thus far.

I’m trying to finish off five Skyriggers for tomorrow. Anyone have any advice for when your polystyrene cement is struggling to get out even though there’s loads of it left?

I converted up four new Plague Marines last night and got them primed. My plan is to start base coats for them tonight. I'm also planning to finish up another Plague Marine I'm working on and to do some work on an Ibram Gaunt figure.

I'm finally going through all my 40k kits and clipping all the bits off the sprues to make a proper bits box. Those plastic bead boxes you get at craft stores and Walmart sure come in handy so you can sort the pieces. This'll save me a little room since I can now throw out a bunch of old kit boxes and empty sprues. I'll end up saving some sprues in case I happen to need the plastic for something, but I've got so much that I'm going to throw most of them out to save space.

I just got some of my Cadian models painted, and a lot more to come..

Built half a hive tyrant and 5 more termagaunt fleshborer arms are magnetized.

I really, Really hate the stupid bulbous feeder tube for the Stranglethorn Cannon. Seriously, it looks terrible but I don't have an alternate part for it.

Finally finished the corrupted doctor acolytes. I hate painting white so... very... much...

I built the goliath ganger with the axe looking melee weapon. But used the wrong arms (I think I used the rivet gun arms). So I glued on both arms and tried to get the melee hands to fit and they didn't. Talk about a goof...shame on me I guess for being arrogant thinking i've been doing this for years..instructions? bah..

Finished the hive tyrant and found my solution for the stupid hand/ball sack feeder tube. I left it off and modified another arm to just be a clenched fist. Looks so much better.

Going to be going over my termagaunt works. I've decided I'm only going to magnetize 10 of these things right now. It's such an annoying chore for miniatures I've never fielded.

Fiddling about with my Sector Mechanicus kits.

Packing up the drive out to a three-day game binge...and that means I finished up a champion model for my Chaos fellas, and I'm wrist deep assembling a custom magnetized solution for moving all of my spindly Eldar goods.

Got a decent amount of work done on my Knight Castigator, but it'll be another week of work at least.

Since I'm in a one-model-a-week challenge, I finished off my Knight Scion for that:

Depending on how early my Black Friday order arrives from Wyrd, I'll either be building my Nightmare Hamelin box (Kitties!) or continuing putting paint on my current batch

Assembled the Ravenwing Command Squad for a secret santa. Surprising number of parts. Going to base them tonight.

Down to just Tyranid Warriors and I think I'll have everything in my GW queue assembled. Then comes the fun task of separating unused bits from sprue

Realized the glue dad had bought was not exactly appropriate for attaching finnfoam(type of insulation foam) to hardboard

At least 2nd board damage was less extensive and it actually held so I can work on that one.

Also started working on first ruin and painted couple stages for about 20 blood angels. Want to get them to same stage to previous 40 or so I worked on weekend.

What glue you use?

from what i hear gorilla glue the expanding kind works.

and apparently you can glue with spray foam insulation as well so long as you weight it down,

Bit more work on a few orks here, base coat of the leather strapping, toughing up some of the colours on weapons

Not sure what it was. Remaining bottle on the car. However obviously I won't try that one again Think I just try good old PVA glue next. Bit of it between and weight in and let it dry.

Weird that the second board seems to have stuck. Maybe I used less or it waited longer than the other before I put the boards together which was enough or something. Well at least I have something to try working with for now.

I'm working on getting a few base colors down on Mortarion, and I'm also assembling some Mk. III guys for my Alpha Legion.

Just finished basecoat & wash on my Shadespire Ironskull's Boyz. 4 minis for a full warband is pretty awesome.

Worked on blood angels though worrying they look too much like word bearers. Also worked on this. Floor to second level will be glued once things are painted. Any suggestions on making square pattern to the floor?

I am trying to paint some muscles on some muscle men.

Got some Dark Reapers second hand that are in pretty good shape. Just need to touch up the the bits that have chipped, add a few details in my Craftworld's colour and rebase.

Aiming to finish Yamaziko and the Oiran, and get most of Big Jake and Ototo done. Was going to do it earlier in the week, but my Black Friday order arrived and I spent the time building the new models instead. On a sidenote, translucent plastics from Wyrd are a pain to assemble (especially when they're a nightmare box), but counting as fully painted in tournaments is too nice, and they look great without me ruining them with a mediocre paintjob

Will probably be playing another game of AoS today. Don’t think l’ll win.

Finished my secret santa models. Going to do the tyranid warrior models before doing a pass on the tyranid stuff in general to at some nice chaos bits.

You could try and etch it with a dull knife, or cut out squares of plasticard and glue the down.

I was done and looking forward to a couple days before deciding if I was going to assemble my three tyranid warriors as warriors or something else.

My Secret santa gift arrived. It's the new Start Colelcting and a box of Neophyte Hybrids.

I'm going to need more glue...

Purchased some more OOP metal Eldar from Rogue Trader and 2nd Edition off of eBay as no one seems to have them on Dakka.

bought some terrain minis from whizkids, the adventurers camp and rusty dragon inn, painting it for 2nd edition D&D saturday

Added brown static grass to almost 100 of my old eldar to add some variation to my bases. I used the dried grass to reflect the decline of the Eldar and it contrasted the bright colours of the models. Started an Eldar PLOG for which I will add a link in my signature when there are a few more models in it.

75% done with a tyranid/biovore conversion. I like it, but will have to use different parts for the front legs next time.

Still haven't got through the current batch, motivation for them is somewhat low (had them on the desk for almost a month now and they're slowly crawling towards done) so might put some paint on terrain over the weekend. Aiming to get a Batman board together for early January, and most of my stuff is nearly finished as is so just need to crack on and do it

Finished the Knight Castigator (finally!) and a Plasma Cannon Deathwing Terminator and got the base colours down on the Rogue Trader Farseer for my Eldar.

Finished painting my Goliath gang.
Plan is to test Newcromunda tomorrow and also play some Frostgrave.

Had another run at 40k, the Tyranids let out again this time against Deathwatch, more or less had it secured end of the first turn but obliterating a razorback when the guys inside had no way to get out - one squad dead, another at half size and their land raider locked up with Hormogants and gene stealers closing..

Pretty much sealed by end of the third turn and called with my opponent on a handful of models.

Tyranid casualties, unit of gargoyles found out why getting close to deathwatch is dangerous.. loving that frag cannon but otherwise nothing important, Mawloc somewhat bruised with a single wound remaining.

Fun game, against an opponent who now has the attitude that them "%^&$£%&*ing nids will be beaten"

For the 4th day in a row i have been making hundreds of green stuff bits and molds,followed by cleaning them up after 24hours of drying.

Worked on seven oop metal Eldar Guardians. Want to see if I can get through them before any new models arrive.

Painting up the 28 figures for my unit of 6mm hoplites, in batches of 7, 2 down 2 to go.

Then I can start the block of pikemen, 192 6mm figures to fill 6cmx4cm.

Gave up on the Malifaux lot I had, started finishing off my terrain instead. Just have to glue the base on my first building for Batman, then putting paint on the rest of my terrain so it's done for January games

Cleaning up resin and assembling a Telemon Dreadnought for my Custodes.

Assembling Tamiya German Fuel Barrels & Jerry Cans,And maybe the German Field Tool Shop depending on how much glue fumes i absorb. too cold to open a window.

More tiny tiny planes on the go again today. Two 6mm Me-262's completed this morning.

Finished my building last night, aiming to finish up some chemical tanks I made for my Batman board (just tin cans on MDF bases with some spare 40k parts on them, but they work well as semi-large terrain pieces) and maybe even work on some miscellaneous scatter bases (again MDF base, with various bits of debris on them). Once they're done all I have left to work on for the board is a few tree bases until Christmas, when the rest of the buildings arrive

Went to the post office and waited the 35 minutes to finally pick up a parcel from a trade with another Dakkadakka member.

Scale is good same as the tamiya barrels set,although some of the tools are a bit small guess they could pass as precision tools though.

They don't make any Saxon APCs in 1/50th, so I had a go at making one from scratch.



Next up a BTR-4.

Nice decision - it looks good (the green stuff panel is a bit wonky, but the rest looks pretty good!). The Saxon's a cool vehicle.

Built a set of non warhammer battletech objective marker,and a 40k marker set.

Final touch-up on the last of my Test of Honour minis then onto basing.

Trying to clear the decks before my American War of Independence starter armies arrive from Warlord on Monday or Thursday. Super excited about starting such a major project.

I'll have 320 infantry and a few cavalry and cannons to tackle first. Then hopefully six or seven boxes of Perry to round out the main infantry forces. I've already got my eye on half a dozen companies publishing lead cavalry, Indians, milita, command options and artillery to round things out.

Then there's terrain and buildings .....

Hoping to start with Songs of Drums and Tomahawks soon enough before going to Black Powder and its AWI supplement Rebellion as stuff gets completed.

Finished painting the figures for a unit of allied hoplites; for my 6mm Alexandrian army (28 of the little guys). Just the pike block to go before I make the bases nice.

Taking a small break from figures and spending the day on WH40k scenery. Have a half finished Realm of Battle board to paint and also various model buildings, some are unpainted, some just primed. Today I will be spending a lot of time with big brushes!

Assembled some marines for an APOC game next weekend.. goal is to get them painted and ready by Friday night.

5x Mk III with Melta guns
5x Mk III with plasma guns
5x Mk III with heavy boaters
5x Tartaros Terminators
4x Mk III with thunder hammers to put next to a resin company standard.

Time will tell how successful this plan is..

Monday: Prime
Tuesday: Airbrush silver base then clear red
Wednesday: not at home
Thursday: Gold Trim, Metalics on Weapons
Friday: Weapon casings in white, decals

Saturday: put them back in the box, swear at this "stupid game"

I am working on a guy holding a scroll. The scroll is nice and detailed... too detailed. I'm sure to ruin it.

Cutting up a trio of armoured Munitorum containers so I can turn them into a fortified gatehouse for Necromunda purposes.

Spent a couple hours organizing bits, stripping down some metals, and trying to motivate myself to paint. Haven't painted in 2-3 weeks which is odd.

I've been trying to keep myself doing about a model a day. I'm one shy of finishing my Devastator squad off.

set the boards for our battles in Confrontation, Griffons vs Serpent in the Archipelago of Fire. 2k points each. the urban fight is in 3rd edition the buildings are detailed inside as well.

After trying desperatly to get my few models to form a 2000 point list (I had a salamander Command Tank) I gave up and emergency assembled some Primaris Intercessors. It'll be Imperial Soup, but it'll work damnit.

Priming marines assembled yesterday, success. 19x Mk III & 5x Terminators.

Didnt realize i could just upload images from my phone directly as i lost of cable :X
so i did these roman style shadespire doods. in ak extreme chrome

Spent so time scrubbing an Eldar oop bike that has been in Simple Green to strip it. The bike needs some more time.

A lot of time spent at the weekend cobbling and rationalising various half broken and half primed GW buildings...one Manufactorum and one Imperial Sector set, minus a few bits, all glued, primed and Base coated with Skirvenblight Dinge.

Back at work today, so much less time. Have two spare Weird Boyz, one metal, one resin, both need some minor repair work and a coat of primer....that is the task tonight. If I have the energy, will put a second thin coat on my Death Guard Plague Crawler. I have assembled it before painting it so there is a lot of ramming the brush into small places.

Today I tried to start building momentum and made some small progress on a stormraven I've had unfinished for a while. tested the weathering and finished assembling missle/gun pods.

Primed the terrain bits from Newcromunda starter.

Got the second thin coat on on the Plague Crawler, and a bit of black as well.
Fixed the resin Weird Boy to base using copious amounts of green stuff. Couldn't fix the broken metal staff of WB #2..will have to try again.

Have a bunch (14/18 shoota/slugga) Ork boyz which are primed but that is it. Got some black on the armour/clothes of the shoota last night. Sluggas can wait.

This morning, got some leadbelcher on the shootas. I have painted score of sluggas in the past, so it was a nice change to only have one weapon per model!

Tonight I will get the Waagh Flesh done on the Shootas.

Finished removing paint from an old style Eldar bike with metal Shurikan Canon.

Still on track with my new marine models, after stripping my airbrush to its component parts and it still not working right I finally managed to get a layer of metallic black added.

Stripped the thing again and its behaving better. Added a zenith highlight starting gun metal, then aluminium and finally chrome.

Stripped it yet again while they cured, seems clean, no idea why it clogs, will spray water fine.. yet neat paint thinners managed to clog it.

Swore at it for a while and its working again, got the Tamiya clear red layer on which now has until Thursday to cure fully when they will start being Thousand Sons and not psychotic christmas decorations

The I finished 2 of the 7 oop metal Eldar Guardians I have been painting. Sort of bit the bullet and decided to complete 2 and have some sort of success. I have just found painting Guards a little boring after Aspect Warriors and Wraith Guard.

Finishing the Viktorias, Student of Conflict, Taelor and Big Jake for Malifaux, then continuing the 3 Ronin alongside the Thunders stuff I gave up on a few weeks ago

Finished the terrain from the Necromunda starter box.

Remaining models unbuilt/unpainted:
7 unpainted pathfinder deep cuts miniatures (using for Frostgrave)
10 Escher gangers from starter (all NOS)
5 crates + 5 computer consoles - Necromunda (built but need to be painted)

Glued and primed the daemon prince to round out my 1000 points of Iron Warriors.

Work on Mortarion continues. He's getting there for sure. I'm also putting together some Dark Angels Hellblasters.

Working on assembling a Rogue Trader Eldar War Walker. Anyone who has ever tried this will let you know how difficult this is.

Finished gluing together my Rogue Trader Eldar War Walker...well everything but the weapons. I intend to use some more current weapons that the Lascanon and original Scatter laser that came with the model.

Enjoyed a nice little apocalypse game today, 8000 pts...

The Lego Reaver "Para Bellum" was my own army in the mix, and I enjoyed playing it, I managed to kill the stompa at the last turn, punched right through it with 21 damage...

Getting back to painting after not doing more than token amounts this week.

I've got a Deathwing Ancient and Champion on deck, as well as the last Knight of my Household. Hoping to get some good progress done while watching football this afternoon.

Apoc game, roughly 12k per side IIRC, took Tyranids for my contribution as the planned Thousand Sons were not ready.

They survived the game, which they didn't do last time, they also held their objective for all but one turn before retaking it, which we didn't manage last time.

We even got close to capturing one, Genestealers nearly did the business with Hormogaunts as a tag team - couldn't quite roll well enough to delete some thunderwolves, the 3++ save ant T5 hurt.

Overall great fun though, 8th edition flows vastly better at this scale, just need to get some toys to handle enemy fliers

Made another couple of sets of objective markers,and undercoated a bunch of bits.

Converting an OOP metal Striking Scorpion Exarch so that it has a Scorpion's Claw instead of just the Shuriken Pistol. Very fiddly work on such a small metal model.

Building some 6mm Vanguard minis, which are superb.

Watching an old episode of League of Gentlemen tonight, I noticed Royston Vaseys charity shop had a copy of Battlecars on the counter.

Doing the basing on a scout squad. Already messed up big time by getting some superglue onto the painted mini but, eh, I was able to fix it. Just a headache.

It was going too well, anyway. Usually my painting projects have a big screw up.

Making my MK3 marines match the Primaris guys. I put in 1mm as boot soles, 2mm in the upper legs, 1mm in the waste. Brown epoxy putty to smooth things out.

despite how much i truly despise all things primaris, I must say, your paint job is excellent sir!

Thanks! It's actually just Rustoleum 2x Coverage Aluminum spray paint, some acrylics for colour and highlights and then an oil wash like scale modellers use. It was my test model to see if I want to get back into doing space marines. In the end, I decided I'd rather do true scale MK3 than get primaris models.

Magnetizing stuff. Plastic contemptators for blood angels with all weapons on magnets. Haven't tested yet but fw weapons might work as well. Same for support squad though ran out of magnets. Also working on knight with magnets

Today has been quite productive. I've started on my Salamanders lieutenant and I primed my Rhino. Tomorrow Im going to do highlights/details and I should be done with him by Wednesday. I'm shooting for a finished Rhino before 2018!

Started painting a Vindicator. Been sitting on my desk for a couple months, finally decided to get rolling on it.

Managed to get 2 smaller Knights of Dice kits put together today for my Batman board (subway station and electrical pylon). Tomorrow I'm aiming to finish my current Malifaux batch and maybe put a dent in the half done Ten Thunders batch, probably with more terrain building to mix it up

Bit more work on my 30k Thousand Sons, second Tartaros squad finished, bit more work on the command squad

Assembled one of them Tamiya Fuel Barrels & Jerry Cans set,but on the last jerry can,i managed to lose one of the tiny can caps and can't find it.

Was off doing family stuff. Did visit Imperial Hobbies today. but the line ups were so long we left without purchasing anything.

Made some concrete themed bases,painted 20 random bits,made half a dozen objective markers.

Doing oil washings for shading on some nurgle daemons

Yet more on the 15th Legion, finished off a command squad and more or less completed a five man tactical support squad with plasma guns

Painted another 20 Bits,plus made 5 industrial mesh themed bases,guess what there for.

Started painting an oop Eldar Support Weapon. It is eventually serve as the Support Weapon for a unit of Guardians, but in the meantime it will serve as an Engine of Vaul in my next battle.

Put a second thin coat on 11 GW building parts - enough to make 5 2 layer buildings. Doing them all Skavenblight. Tomorrow they get a wash... desperate to get them on the table in not just primed in balck. Probably won't do too much on them for a while once the wash is done...perhaps a dry brush?

Assembled the Stormclad that was sitting on my workstation for the past several weeks.

Surfing the net for the vain hope that the Games Day or Grand Tournament or RTT comp score sheets from WFB and 40K from the early 2000's pop up. I DESPERATELY want those.

I printed off some guns for my RT era Land Raider.

I just assembled my third wyvern tank and a basilisk for my imperial guard. Getting prepared for tournament next february.

If you're on squares (or just have movement trays that are the right size and hold your mini's) then you might have better luck with Kings of War. More players and it's a great, well written, game.

Speaking of; I'm busy organising a small KoW tournament (in Pretoria) and painting 6mm Macedonian pikemen.

Very productive start to the New Year!

Washed and dry brushed 11 GW ruined single floor ruined building sections, ie enough for 11 x 1 floor building or 5.5 x 2 floor buildings. They are now going in the pile marked 'good enough for a game'.

Pottered around doing bits on a Hellbrute and a Foetid Blight drone.

Completed the rims of the bases of the last of about 80 mixed chaos troops to match the buildings and Sector Imperialis board. These are now in the nearly done pile but are all currently good enough for gaming.

Put together Bat-Mite for my Batman and DCU games, so next batch is ready to be primed, with Red Son Superman, Knightfall Batman and the Watchmen making a rather eclectic mix (although they will probably have to wait as a storm is just about to hit). Also have to put together 2 more buildings for my Batman board before Sunday, so might work on that tonight

Finished Aragorn (Two Towers Version) And will soon make a start on little Frodo.

Working some more on Nagash, working on skeletons, and the Neferata Mortarch model. .. also probably building some Vostroyans up today at some point.

Finishing off some sub-assemblies on a Knight.

Going to go bit fishing. I think I have the parts for a 5 man scout sniper squad.

Looking at the sodden mess that was supposed to be my Dreadball 2 rulebook and would have been if royal mail hadn't decided that leaving a cardboard package outside my house 5 days ago counted as delivery. It's rained a lot in 5 days.

Looking at my 2018 work lot and uncontrollably crying.
(gonna start on necromunda first though)

finish the highlighting on my Inquisitor, 3 kataphron destroyers, and 5 Sicarian Ruststalkers. If I have free time keep working on Immolator conversion and build/convert 10 Imperial guardsmen.

I am going to finally base my veterans that I started last may, find and paint my last seeker's combi-melta, basecoat my kairics, and take pics of all my 2017 models PLUS make a list of my 2018 projects.

Yesterday put in red coat for blood angels(magnetized weapons, some weapons not in photo but in total 10 plasma, 10 melta and 9 flamer. Need to get one more somewhere), put wash to receccess of sons of horus, did quickly the banners and cloaks for sons of horus. Alas I should have done those first as now I need to redo the green a bit to touch up where airbrush hit.

Another case of "they don't make this vehicle in the scale I want, so I guess I'll have to make it myself". I'm finishing up a build of a 1/50th scale Ukrainian BTR-4 for my Spetsnaz.

Going to try to finish the legs of the Knight I'm working on and get it glued to its base.

And calling this done (barring a bit of minor tidying ...and uh a missing spotlight at the front).

Skipping my D&D night to try and get 25 more American 28mm infantry painted up for next Tuesday's Bolt Action game. Speed painting on the sprue. We will see how it goes.

About to finish painting Frodo Baggins (Fellowship Version) and some small random bits.

Played kingslayer on AoS. My Overlords versus Stormcast. I scored 74 wounds versus 57. However, because I lost my general, it was doubled to 114, so I lost. Kicking myself for letting him die but in truth I blame the dice. It’s a poor excuse I know but really, how do I keep rolling 1s 75% of the time? I score 9 hits and they’re wounding on 3+ but I roll seven 1s? And something like this happens 4 times? Boo.

Primed 10 Tactical Marines and 5 intercessors for my Salamanders. I sprayed for so long that I swear I'm a little high right now. ()

I also have to say that Primaris Marines don't take spray primer as readily as regular ones do. I think it has to do with all the raises ridges.

Continuing to work on the Knight - finishing up the Rapid Fire Battle Cannon, finishing the base layer of gold then shading the shoulder pad and painting some edge highlights on the top carapace if I have time and don't lose power in the Nor'easter.

I played a game last night and accidentally knocked over a couple models. *sigh* I'll be running repairs tonight.

I did pick up one of those impulse packs of three reviers. Might put them together.

Building race gates for Gaslands out of old sprues.

finished up a small mechanicum force for my inquisition, now onto converting up some Kastellans using the FW domitar class automata and finishing my WW2 sherman/ Immolator concersions.... this has been a lot of work but a labor of love. Almost up to 1000pts of fully converted inquisition!

Got a lot done on the Knight yesterday, continuing to work on it today. Priority one is finishing the shoulder pads - just a few edge highlights and it'll be ready to glue on. Still have most of the arms and the Icarus Autocannon to do - going to be trying to finish everything this weekend.

Assembled a Chaos Predator, reasonably clean of spikes though as my Thousand Sons outcasts don't go overboard on blingy bits.

Main guns magnetised, sponsons swappable with side doors, also magnetised - sponson weapons assembled, waiting a bit of plain plastic tomorrow to plate the top to also magnetise them.

Thinking the sponsons and doors though may need a second magnet, gluing to the one on the hull as a sort of magnetically active spacer

1 out of 4 units of 6mm pikemen done.

Undercoating 30+ Random Bits.

Reorganised my X-Wing Miniatures - sorted all the counters out into new storage trays and moved the smaller ships into a second tray. Then had the exciting task of putting all the pilot and smaller upgrade cards into card binders I bought from Amazon and only cost me £3.00 (as I had some vouchers to spend :thumbsup). Now to organise a few games....

Finished assembling the predator, trip to FLGS resulted in some plastic card, my own stock is, as with so much around here "in a box" so was easier to to get more..

Result: an extension on the turret side to hold the havoc launchers magnetic mounting. also sorted the sponson weapons mounts.

Built another Custodis model as well


Took my CSM out for a day trip against some guardsmen, managed to loose all but a sorcerer, lord and 12 cultists lurking in a bastion.

Did however win on VP, despite managing to kill a handful of guardsmen only, plus putting a couple of wounds on a few of the many tanks they faced...

Almost finished the last 5 oob metal Eldar Guardian Defenders.

I've had a lot of stuff on the back-burner for awhile for numerous reasons, gave myself a kick up the backside and did some work on my two squads of Mk. III Power Armour Marines for my Iron Warriors.
Finished on them for the day and just debating the best approach for the hazard stripes tomorrow, whether or not I should attempt the logo free hand (not done any free hand before) and finally trying
to see how they denote the squad for HH Iron Warriors.

All good fun, the most important thing is I can say I've actually made some progress on it.

I'll be starting some Sisters of Silence in a bit.

Primed containers repurposed as Necromunda buildings.
Also primed and dry brushed the loot crates and door control panels from the Necromunda starter set. Just need to paint some buttons, guns, bullets and grenades and those will all be done.

That will leave me with exactly 4 miniatures (Pathfinder Deep Cuts) left to paint.
