I've had a bit time and had this guy sitting on my desk for quite awhile now so I thought, I would finish him up a bit.





I love the new Chaos Knights heads they are awesome looking and make for a neat different look, and a bit of creepiness also.

Next up, been at work on this Nurgle figure and a few other random Chaos pieces. Randomness will probably the theme for the most part for this chaos bloggin'. Haven't really ever done alot of Nurgle, so I thought about time to try out some things. Didn't like the head, so since I shot these pics I've removed it and switched it out with a nurgling head.

I think this may be the first guys brother. This is another mini that has been sitting on my desk forever it seems, so I finished him up to get rid of him. And again another Chaos Knight that I at first really did not like, but on the CSM its actually quite creepy looking. This one has the cooler looking backpack.

Nice greenstuffing! Very clean, very characterful, and it works well with the WHFB knight stuff.

I love the WHFB helmets with the grating for the nurgle marines... I've used em before as well...

I only have one thing...

you ARE really good at sculpting with greenstuff...

so why give them all essentially the same pose??

a little surgery and you can give them all such dynamic poses to go with their rotting but battle hardened glory...

top notch work for papa nurgle so far though...

@Sinism: I understand what you are saying, these are just the first few I have had sitting on my desk forever it feels like anyways. I'm grabbing just randomly and building. I really have no plans for an army right at the moment. Some of these I will keep, some of these I will definitely get rid of, some I will definitely paint. There are many more to follow, I'll probably change up and sprinkle in some fantasy also once and awhile, but I'm big into chaos and such.

And not everything will have Nurgle influence, expect Khorne to show sooner or later, and possibly Slaanesh, maybe even a Tzeentch model.

Some more messing around. This is another of my Nurgle conversions, a little different than the other. This time I made the base with a similar effect. I really am liking the mutated possessed bits, they for really evil looking items, mixed in a tabbard and some other skin/cloth bits on this one also.






The white putty on the base is Apoxie sculp which cures rock solid.

Do you have any special techinque on the tabards and cloth, or is that just experience?

It is very impressive greenstuff work, I like the kitbashing.

Its definitely practice and experience, but the only way to do it is just that. I do have some tips and general methods, there is a whole variety of ways to achieve this.

The cloth I typically do in a couple of steps or couple of different methods. Sometimes it works better to sculpt the cloth on the miniature, sometimes sculpt it over a support mounted on the model, sometimes it works better to sculpt the piece of cloth on a piece of plastic foil/wrapper.

If you use the wrapper method use a little bit of water to dampen the wrapper, the reason for this is so that you can remove it prior to the putty curing (Although sometimes you may not want to). If you use a lot of water you can trap air bubbles and water bubbles between the putty and wrapper, that's no good for most applications. Smooth your putty using a smooth surface on side and colour shapers or sculpting tools with metal spatulas/spoon shaped ends. Sharpen the edges of the putty with the knife end of your sculpting tool. With the wrapper method on large pieces of cloth or capes, I will allow the piece to cure 5-10 minutes leaving it on the wrapper, then apply the piece directly to the model, by holding the wrapper. Coax gentle bends in the cape using the foil wrapper. I have even used tape to hold the foil in place while the putty is curing. After the putty is cured, gently peel off the foil. Tattered edges, use an Xacto or toothpick or straight pin.

I'll use a dull X-acto to do the the tattered edges by first cutting out a wedge of putty and the then use it to coax the putty into shape. For the holes I'll use a tooth pick like tool and gently poke the hole then move the tool around in the hole a little to make the torn hole.

- Salvage

This time mixing in a bit of Fantasy. Everyone needs that front rank that screams we are CHAOS. This is one of many more models for my marauder horde, but one of the cooler looking ones. He'll be getting a shield. I warned you some fantasy would get mixed in.
They're just poster puttied to the bases.

One thing with chaos kit bashing whether 40k or fantasy nothing ever goes to waste.

WOW! The shoulder armor on the last one is beautiful... *wipes tear away from eye after seeing that stunnign GS work*

The armor plating is something that I have figured out how to do quite quickly, now that I have had a bit of practice on it, turned out much better than my beastman army stuff.

Here's a few more shots of some armor...a couple being from a some of my Khorne Demon army that is on GW's web site (least I think they still have the photos of last years GTs up still, haven't checked)...its my claim to 5 minutes of fame...winning the Best Appearance at the Chicago GT last year in Fantasy.

A bit of a departure: Well this one really doesn't fit with the others, but since I'm messing around and this was in the bottom of bitz box on my desk, I thought I may as well finish it. There was a time when converting these fantasy chaos warriors into space wolves and/or chaos space marines was pretty popular. Most of the posing for these were not very dynamic, but they are larger than the normal space marine.

Well I've had some plastic Chaos Terminators since the Army box came out, and I've never messed around with them. This one I thought would look cool as a nurgle termi. Did a bit more base work like the other Nurgle one. The white putty is apoxie sculp so very durable, its certainly not cream cheese frosting. I think he turned out pretty cool, the head got moved from the other marine to the terminator, I think it looks better on the termie.

That nurgle termy looks ace i like it are you gonna do the rest of the termies like that i think they'd be kool.
