The next of my Khorne Heralds on foot. Like the previous I wanted to armor him up a bit more than my regular blood letters.

Also thought about changing up the weapons to make him stand out a bit more. This one I gave an axe. A sort of brutal looking axe. Something I have had for awhile. Its from Reaper Miniatures.

The basing is done up like the rest of my minis in this army, blood pools with heads and sometimes demonic hands reaching up from the depths of hell.

Another view of the head in the blood pool and the oposite side of the axe.

The other reason to paint your weapons like this is to play up the whole Hellstorm Blade demonic weapon bit.

I love how your bloodletters stand up. Makes them look almost nice miniatures. I just really hate their faces. Not to diverge though, I think giving the heralds vibrant weapons really works to make them stand out from the crowd.

I really do love these old models, they have so much more character than the plastics. As I stated previously when I was building and converting the plastics these models are what influenced me to take the naked plastics and add armor and tabbards to them. I needed to bolster the ranks of my army a little to make it more playable for 8th edition.

Well here they are...almost done. As you can see the banner is bare. Eventually I will put something on that, but for now it is as bare as it gets.

Whoah they're fantastic!!! The red is brightly awesome, and the base is... Bloody awesome!!!!

You managed to make them look like they are ankle-deep in pools of blood, that's a great feat!! Congratulations!

Also, I have a small question... Is your username by any chance related to Battletech? As a long-ago fan of the universe, Particle Projector Cannon instantly springs to mind whenever I see any "PPC" around...

This thread rocks. Thats exactly the kind of work I hope to do after I finish my current chaos project. LOVE the Chaos Knight heads and marauder bits added to CSM. You've definently given me the inclination to run over to the game store and snatch up more sprues of parts!

Thanks man. Been a while since I updated things. But I'm getting back into the flow of chaos. Want to finish up my expansion of my Warriors of Chaos army before moving onto my orc army and a new 40k space marine army.

For Knights I have decided to go with two units of six. One unit will be tzeentch marked and the other Khorne marked and both will be in the same paint scheme as the rest of my army seen in this blog.

For my tzeentch I decided to use the Maxmini heads as I think they look appropriate. I decided my knights need some converting and capes are an obvious thing to do.

Then the banner man, needed a small bit of converting.

I haven't decided if I like the GS on the horse or not. If it does not look good in paint, I'll peel it off and do it freehand. Slow start but much more to come on these. I'll be sculpting Tzeentch symbols on a few of them.

The Khorne ones will be semi traditional in a sense. Here is the first model.

I had a few left over bloodletter arms from my Khorne Demon army. I think the swords work better with the knights.

I wanted a nice smooth panel so that is why I GS smooth the damage in this armor. Remember my paint scheme is a burnt orange and blue, and the Hot Rod stylized flames. Even my Khorne will follow this scheme. The large panels may get some freehand details.

I'm also using the Forgeworld Khorne brass etch for some of the symbols. And of course lots of skulls and chains.

I've also decided to convert up a bunch of helmets to look similar to some of the artwork, but a bit simpler than Adrian Smith's artwork for the Tzeentch and Slaanesh Knights. Capes will also be added like the tzeentch stuff.

And speaking of the tzeentch knights, here is another. I've added the symbols out of GS.

My movement trays are pretty wide, and the knights are kind of hard to rank up so that is why I'm mounting this figure far forward. Hopefully this will give the unit some more dynamic look, rather than the rigid trot.
And here is the backside of the model. This pic shows the support I use under the capes. This is like what I did with the my caped black orcs in my Orc Plog.

The Tzeentch unit nears completion, still have the cape to do for the one miniature. The Max-mini heads really set these apart and make them look good. I have a chaos warrior unit and a chosen unit, those will have plenty of the warrior heads on them, so these knights had to be different.

This is not the movement tray that I will use for these, this is one of the spares that was from a junked project.

The banner man and the unit champ are mounted a bit forward. The one benefit of doing this is that it does help with the ranking up of some crazy poses. This won't work as well for you if you do not make a movement trays a bit wider.

Pic of the musician and banner man.

The musician is just pinned to the base so that I can remove him for painting and then reassemble.

And I love this shield, had it for quite a while now, and thought this would put it to good use. A no-prize for who can name who makes this shield.

Lovin all the great little conversions, and the red on the 'letters is perfect, not overly orange, which keeps it more 'blood' looking. Great work!

Really like those knights, the GS icons and the resin helms really separate them from just a repose on the basic kit nicework...
I tried to do a Tzeentch army once but just couldn't get it to look how I liked, I just kept changing everything all the time.

A little bit of progress to report on the disc-o-riding sorcerer lord, mostly just on the disc.

One of the comments was that the disc looks too much like a 40k Tyranid (not a bad thing in my opinion) and another was what about a tail. Then as I was working on the knights I saw the musician’s horn.

So, that led to a slight change in modeling to where I came up with this. And you guessed it, some of the horns that I cut off the knights/chaos warriors heads make an appearance (don’t throw anything away). That needs a bit of touch up. Still need to work on the model and base so more.

As things come together, you always get new ideas and the Tzeentch disc that was previously shown gave me some ideas on a new chaos spawn. The ideas were mainly to help tie more of this stuff together in the army. My previous chaos spawn for this army, affectionately known as Blue Spawn and Brown Spawn, were based on the metal chaos troll bodies and current plastic spawn kit, respectively. I do very much like both of them and I am always toying with the ideas of how to include more spawn in my army lists. They are very quirky in games and cause havoc in both sides, and I enjoy running them as a pair.

So, how to do that? Well, my buddy Mike Butcher created some wonderful looking models back a few years ago for his Nurgle Demon army, that can be seen in an old issue of White Dwarf and was on GW's U.S. web site for awhile.
This model is partially inspired by his conversions. And my Blue Spawn uses an ogre head on the chaos troll body, so combining all that I came up with this…

It uses a rat ogre body left over from the Warhammer Fantasy boxed set. I particularly liked how Mike tied together the ogre head and the lower jaw of the tyranid heads on his models, so I attempted to do something very similar in hopes that this ties together better with my disc.

Not sure what I will do with the paint schemes just yet, but they should all tie together with the other spawn. I do really like the use of the armor on these rat ogres, they do kind of resemble the armor on some of my marauders. I’ll probably incorporate some of the armor elements into my Chaos Ogres down the road.

This will be one of those freaky models. I'm very much looking forward to the completion of it. For the second spawn, I will go back to the rat ogre body from the box set and combined in some more tyranid pieces in the conversion.

Looks really awsome, but really wierd at the moment (which is also good since its a spawn). The face looks really awkword but I have a feeling that after it gets primed or painted it will look alot more fluid.

That spawn looks awesome!

I am unsure about the head only since the orge's eyes look a bit funny next to that gaping maw, but the conversion ability here is astounding and i think with a good paint job it could look really nice!

That spawn reminds me of everything I love about Chaos.... and I think might have been just inspiring enough to build a Chaos army again. Always a pleasure seeing what you create, Psychosis.

Nice work!

Your latest work on the disc and spawn is awesome. Nice use of tyranid heads. I really like the spawn chap, massive jaw spanwing out of a normal face really is pure chaos and the choice of body fits nicely, great converting.
