Sarah Palin is Receiving a Lot of Grief for Writing Notes on Her Hand Before a Paid Speech
13
Sarah Palin hand notes are the talk of the political world. Sarah Palin wrote notes on her hand to use it as a cheat sheet (or crib notes) while she was giving a speech on Saturday. The speech was for the Tea Party Convention, in which she was paid $100,000 to give the keynote. She was probably exactly what the attendants wanted to hear, as she preached to talking points that she had written on her hand. In an interview that she sat down to give, it also became glaringly obvious that she was referring to her hand when trying to remember what she should say. Now she is getting a lot of flak for needing to write the notes on her hand, and the Sarah Palin hand notes are turning into a huge joke.
So what exactly was it that Sarah Palin had to write on her hand that she couldn't remember? How about energy, tax cuts, and lift American spirit. Yep, those are some very difficult talking points to remember, especially when you aren't coming up with them yourself, but rather trying to sound like you are against anything the current administration supports. This was a forum that should have been the easiest thing ever for Sarah Palin, as she was being paid to simply come and be a keynote speaker for a group of people that were already supporting her. Not only that, but the crowd was probably going to be supportive of anything that she had to say.
The one thing that stands out from Palin's presentation, yes even more than the hand notes, is that she attacked President Obama for using a teleprompter. Well if you are going to attack someone else for using notes, it's important to not seem hypocritical when making statements like that. Sometimes it's necessary to read a speech when you don't have time to memorize it, and that is what someone like the President often has to do. This isn't new for Obama or any recent President, and isn't something that needs to be attacked. As for writing notes on your hand that you need to talk about lowering taxes and promoting new energy sources? My friend's five year old could do that.
I actually laughed out loud when I heard on the news last night that she was planning to run for president in '12.
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
I don't know, the picture with the notes looked photoshopped to me.

To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I never said he didn't, but what kind of speech is so heavy and mind-boggling when speaking to elementary school kids, that you can't speak without such aids?
Was Obama being filmed when he gave that speech, by TV networks and the like ?
Was Palin similarly being filmed ?
Regardless it seems kind of dumb to be caught using cheat notes if that's one of the things your complaining about the otehr guy/gal doing.
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

C'mon KK, that's a lame comparison.

'K, how about an hour of taking questions from Congressional Republicans on live TV?
I've done a few events like this, and teleprompters are @#$%ing GOLD. Notes of any sort, whether on paper or on your hand require looking down and losing eye contact. A teleprompter allows you to look right into the camera with out losing your place or eye contact. Every president since they were invented has used them. I really don't understand this Republican talking point.
And by taking on 100+ Republicans in their lair I think the Prez has shown he's just as intelligent and articulate without one.
I laughed watching that on the news too. For 2 reasons. 1. Really? Why do people care if shes keeping notes? 2. Really? Your complaining about the guy using telaprompters and youve wrote it all down on your hand?

The guy paid the national debt off, crushed the federal bank, and before that paid for his own army in the war, AND kicked the crap out of the English while he was there (no offense guys) The man knew how to handle things is all Im sayin

Given that part of her speech was ripping on Obama for using a teleprompter for nearly everything she couldn't very well be using one herself could she?

While simultaneuosly crushing those pesky Indians.
The English had Edward the Long shanks A.K.A. The Hammer of the Scots, we have Andy Jackson, the Hammer of the Indians.
Yeah..... just what we need more American Myth.
Anyway, back on topic....This is just typical of people making a mountain out of a mole hill because they don't like Palin. I don't like her either, but I try to be fair in my critisism.

It isn't so much the use of an aid, but the actual message she's put on her hand. When people dismiss Palin they'll say her politics could be summed up as wanting to drill for oil, cut taxes and making people feel nice. And there it is, written on her hand. It's pretty much why I suspect its a photoshop - it's too perfect.

Obama got a lot of credit for his speaches before and during his campaign. One time, during a speach the teleprompter broke down and Obama lost his train of thought for a few seconds, this was gold to the GOP because their core strategy is to target their opponent's strength so they really ran with the idea that Obama's nothing without his teleprompter. It didn't matter that Obama writes most of his key speaches himself, this is talking point land we're dealing with here.
This filters down to the footsoldiers of the party and gets a little mangled along the way, remember it's been more than a year. Now it seems to have filtered in to be a simple accusation that he uses a teleprompter at all, never mind that almost every other politician and business leader does exactly the same thing.

Personally I think palins a moron and to ever think she would have a chance at the partys nomiation is utterly amazing of her. She lacks so many values that we attempt to hold dear to our presidents and won't even confirm nor deny that the 4 year old kid is her daughters which was proven to be. Hrmmmm thats the kind of women I want leading our nation.
Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

None taken, since Jackson's biggest military victory against the English (the Battle of New Orleans) came after the war had already been declared over. In my book, it doesn't count.

Having relatives who were there at the time, in my book, it does.

Exactly. I don't care when a politician uses notes. In this day and age it's the best defense against putting your foot in your mouth. Even with notes we've seen many politicians, on both sides of the political spectrum, make asses of themselves. But I'm more concerned with what was written on her hand. If the image isn't photoshopped (which I'm not convinced it was) it is seriously depressing to think that she was ever elected into office. Nothing says "puppet" more than needing such basic concepts written on your hand.
What I'm floored by is that the grass roots, populist, anti government movement doesn't care that she had to get payed one hundred thousand dollars to do a speech for them.
No greater sign of the mental vacancy of a group of people.
