Right so i said about a month or 2 ago (3 really but who's counting) i would upload some pics of my work both to help keep a log and to get feed back

This is my first army a Mate got me hooked earlier this year, and I've been taking it too slow so hopefully this will also help me pick up the pace a bit
my ork army started out with a AoBR set, so i started working on them.

These are a few pics of the WarBoss i assembled a few boys along the way but he was my first complete model



After i milliputed the arm in place i learnt about the use of pinning, which would have saved my some hassle as the arm broke off twice. Once the war boss was 'done', i started painting the nobs hoping to get better by the time i got the the smaller boys. I'm happy with my painting for now, but i have a feeling the better i get the more ill feel the need to strip and re paint these first models. So far all the painting has been done with normal base paints and i haven't added any washes

as I've said I'm hoping this will help me keep track of my work and get my moving on as I've bought a few bits now and need to pick up the pace.
I've got some huge plans on what to do after having seen the great work on here but feel I'm getting ahead of my self, but if i pace myself and build up slowly i might get there.

After trying to paint the nobz and failing due to poor concentration and interruptions, i decided to use the dread to make a looted deff dread for my army after having seen a interesting thread about it on here

to being with i was worried, as i cut out a lot of the back and removed 1 leg for reposing sadly converting was so much fun i didn't stop to take pics

so skipping right ahead heres one i made earlier





after cutting the leg on one side i attached the rest of the body to the base and held it supported to dry then added the base decorations to rest the cut leg on having i pinned the leg in place and glues to body and base , with that done i filled in the hole in th back with the koptas engine part it was going to be vertically attached but when it fit so nicely on its side i went with that

the gun arm is just some cotton buds with milliput in the middle and 2 bands of milliput to hold them sadly the bands turned otu a little messy but im happy with them the buzz saw on top was pure fun the make and will enjoy making scratch parts in the future

since taking this pics the dread has been changed a bit ad is now a killa kan will upload pics when i can borrow a camera again

but until then some more pics of the work i done on the kopta

as much as i liked the deff koptas in the AoBR, i prefer thinking of orks in aerial dog fights might be some influence from the deff skwadron comics i read but i stuck with it
the wings on the model where supposed to be a template to be cut out in plastic card later but again converting just got away with me and not only did i for get photos i glues the templates in place





the wings are a clothes tag from some new swim shorts, the engine was made by removing the rokkits and gluing in the top of an empty glue tube. The guns on the end of the wings were fun to do, they are again cotton buds, with plastic car end pits then I cut the ammo part of the terminator guns from the same AoBR set. I inserted some small wire springs to the back to the cotton buds to fill in the other ends holes

I'm hoping to make the rest of my koptas like this

will update as soon as i can take more pictures next i need some photos of my boys and black ork hard boys also i will be replacing my war boss with a custom built one and need to work on his fluff abit

sadly i never book marked any of the threads that gave me inspiration so am not sure who to thank exactly for ideas but with so many articles out there id say they all give ideas in one way or another so thank you all and to my mates who started me on this hobby

thanks, the piston bits are cotton buds and I will have to replace them and stop using cotton buds cause they don't glue or paint well. got my self some plastic card piping for future use.
I have completed another plane this time remembering to use plastic card. I will need to borrow a camera again, as the digital camera I have isn't good at focusing on small things

will upload those soon an update on my custom warboss I've so a sketch ready will try and move from there to the model. The current AoBR warboss shall be given a quick make over and pressed in to work as a hard nob. I'm using the fantasy black orcs as 'ardboyz but that means they are as big or bigger than my nobz so i need a larger model for their nob

my warboss will be a grot in mech armour, still need to work on the fluff.Basically he would be the grot orderly to painboy who was very good at cyborgs would have been testing how much ork you need to have left before it would stop being an ork, grot steals a cyborg body and what is the first thing a grot who like a grots has been pushed around do? he starts pushing other orkz around, and he will push more often and harder cause no one wants to go back to being a grot.

ok i was able to 'borrow' a camera again so i can now uplaod my second deff fighta the construction is all done

currently has a very quick and dirty paint job as i needed it to have some color for a game i was having




(kinda reminds me of the angel of the north )


the wings this time are plastic card, I cut some random cuts along them, then used a triangular file to make them stand out more.I added some extra metal panels and bolts for added scrappyness.
The chain swords on the end of each wing count as a buzz saw and the bomb under the wing has more realistic clamp than my other version im also happy with how the engine at the back turned out this one has a more jet feel to it than my first one but i like both

currently thinking about the colors to add but im not sure since i want it to fall midway between scrap built and having some attempt and army colors

also whilst is have the camera took some photos of my 'ardboyz unit these are made out of fantasy black orcs.This made them quite big as big as and in some cases bigger than my nobz, to fix this I had my AoBR warboss reallocated as a 'ardnob. yes he's big but big boys need a big boss to push them around

I really like the one on the far right he was going to be the nob but couldn't make him stand out enough.
also i want the banner to have words rather than a logo 'dead 'ard' or 'da boyz iz best' are current ideas but will take any suggestions




that's the boyz so far i have another box of black orks i haven't even opened to add to them

that's all for now currently looking for a way to make a large left left for my warboss i was going to green stuff the whole thing but in this weather its too sticky. the less green stuff i use the better until summer is over at least. so i might just use another AoBR warboss but add spacers between the foot and knee

done a quick color sketch of the warboss is paint while i was stuck answering calls at work

thanks I'm hoping to build one from scratch to look like a early biplane but not sure if it will become to big but I ll cross that bridge when I come to it. for now I'm just enjoying the creative destruction and reassembly that is ork construction

just a mini update with a few of my boyz these are just a few of my boys and also the paint work is not finished

all my models need touching up and washes

the grot in the middle may end up going on my warboss's base cause he has too much 'come get some' for any old loota to have him


the 2 orks on the right end could easy be used as kommandos but i think they will stay as boyz
it has no escaped my notice that one of them is a head short of a full ork in fact a few of my orks has this for now as i removed all the helm less orks and am going to green stuff some helmets for them btu am not sure if i will give them a Stahlhelm or a Brodie helmet both are quite stylish



will post the pics with head if /once i manage to make the helmets

no more actual pics for now as I've not got the camera any more but when I get it back I've got some updates on my new war boss

until then while trying to choose between the Stahlhelm or a Brodie tried a sketch to get an idea



the ork they have been painted on Isn't mine just a image i had saved on my pc the hat have been done in paint at work cause i was bored. i don't think i done the brodie helmet justice.

still not sure which i want the brodie helmet goes great as the orks already have that funny English accent so making a dad's army parody would be fun

so I'm currently nto sure id be happy with either an opinions anyone?

Agree with monkeytroll, have never seen a brodie on an ork before.

well i suppose a brodie hat would be easier to make

i will post a pic once i make an ork head until then i've done some work on my warboss


those are the cuts i made on the parts
the dread leg was cut at the knee so as to allow it to bend, i was going to leave it completely a dread leg but while trying to drill a whole i ruined the lower leg so rebuilt it in plastic card
i cut the 'toes' off the foot so that i could have them reattached with wire so they would be posed on the final model. The underside is a bit messy cause I had trying placing the wires in groves but that didn't hold so then i glued it in place



the base as the reason i wanted the toes to be poseable





im happy with the pose in general... but i may have to lower the stone he is resting the dread leg on or add something under his other foot as the pose seams a bit painful like its raised to high
is this me nit picking or does anyone agree?

might be better if i had the normal leg on its tiptoes like he's running up a hill then it might fit the pose better

@Artsoldier35 as any good old loota would say 'sharin' da welf' iz an honourable and traditional part of ork kultur'

added some green stuff to the legs still needs more work but need to let it cure properly before i do any more work on it (learnt that the hard way)

the rock has been lowered but also the leg was beefed up and the ground was green stuffed a bit seeing as this is my main HQ i think his base needed a little more attention than i gave the boyz
the base is supposed to be dry cracked mud, not sure about it is my first try if i don't like the effect when its coloured i'll just add some sand and flock to cover it




will be adding some kind of armour to the dread leg as it looks too bare ive got a few masks from the black ork set but they are too big but i might plastic card something similar that or just plain old spikes spikes are always a good option for an ork

now i must start on the torso that should be 'fun' if i can actually manage id like to have an actual grot inside the torso and have his head fit under the mask but seeing as the fact he is a grot is a secret from the orks he leads that might all be extra work i don't need to do .... but at the same time id feel I had cut corners if i don't

well time enough to think about that later

until i can get some more pics up here is a plan of work for the warboss helmet, looks like im gonna put the grot inside him then doesnt it

I've done some of the measuring with the plastic tubes and rods i have i think i can make it work if i follow this plan



i've measured the grot's head and will have to hollow the skull out a bit for it to fit but every thing else seams to match up will post pics if it assembles correctly if not ill rethinking it

but should work as I've got the correct size piping

might be awhile before i can take anymore photos.I'll try to work on different thing until i get the came back so as not to jump ahead too much on one thing or i might do some more painting

Never heard of tribbles until now, and after looking them up I'm confused as to what an orks reaction to one would be?

moonshine: Thx i do plan things out but i only put them down on paper or .bmp when i'm stuck at work to pass the time, but a 'ardcopy does come in useful

well here is the war bosses head




that's the head closed
and no open i hat to change it a bit from the concept pic had i left the plastic rod going down the back of it there would have been no room so instead i drilled a hole in the back piece and fitted it in there





i might need to start scaling down my pics for on the forum

next up here is my warboss's 'uge choppa standing besides a Nob for size ref







i think i had to chop up 3 chain choppas for it; they got cut up and positions on the plastic card panels. the bit at the end is a tail from one of the deffkoptas with metal rod holding it in place
then just added some plastic card for decoration and some bitz from a terminator and the bitz left from cutting up the back of the SM dread.
makes a nice choppa will had to give him more of a power first than a power klaw and magnetize it so i can remove it if i want

with the legs i added a few pistons to the dread leg as well as adding some piping on the back
i did find one small flaw he was leaning backwards so I had to cut the legs at the hip rotated a bit and Green Stuffed it back on

im thinking of just sticking the grot as he is on-top of the legs and building the rest of the body around him size should match up correctly considering the size of the legs
