If you are about to make a choice between these networking sites which one will you choose?

Why do you have to choose? They aren't rationed; you are allowed to use both.

Facebook, because I already have an account (no twitter) and I can't be bothered to login into yet another stupid site and message people I don't like. Dakka is enough for me.

Last time I checked Twitter only had 40% of the membership size of Facebook.

Also, Twitter attracts a certain type of individual that I disapprove of...

I choose neither, I'm one of these minority people that .. hmmm, I don't know, prefers to pick up the phone to find out what my friends and family have been up to? I did the myspace thing, tried the facebook thing, now both accounts just gather dust and people no longer post on my wall etc as they realised I just don't look at it anymore. But thats just me.

Facebook. You can still receive tweets on it plus you can use the logon on many random message boards and comment field on other sites.

I'm just surprised these are still in fashion - especially facebook. Usually the life cycle of these social things is what 4 years? The fact every soccer mom on the planet is on Facebook I thought was its death knell but it appears to still be alive.

Admitted, having your parents randomly check your Facebook is a prime situation to create much awkwardness. "Hey mom, how's it going?" "All right, who were those lesbians you were talking about?"

no not checking on teenie boppers. The majority of facebook users are over 30.

I dislike both, but I use Facebook. Twitter seems like a great way to see how boring everyone else in the world really is.

Don't see a whole lot of purpose in keeping my "friends" "updated" every time I go to the toilet or "tweet" anyone that " I just can't wait for the weekend".

I have a phone and E-Mail and (reluctantly) a Myspace..If I can't keep in touch with my "Friends and Family" with those...well then..guess we won't be talking.

I check Dakka far more often than Facebook (I don't use Twitter, I don't get it, I really don't). This means I speak to people I've never met (and for the most part never will) more than I speak to my actual friends

I've been on Facebook and Twitter for years, but I hardly ever use them.

There isn't much I've got to say which the world needs to hear about (same as 99% of Twitters IMO.)

I dislike the feature on Facebook that keeps prompting me to be "friends" with people I've never heard of because my brother's wife's cousin is married to them.

I'm some what amused by the entire concept of "Facebook friends" to begin with...

Now,of course I get "friending" actual friends (Family etc..)

But,I work with one kid who has over 3,000 "friends"...he's 22 years old and has 3,000 "friends"....????

I'm 41...and have perhaps four dozen people in the entire world that I consider friends (triple that in aqauinteces)...

It seems to me that Facebook "friends" basicly equates to.." Hey...I like your face...be my friend."

....Now,I know we have a simalar feature here on Dakka...but...at least ( I would hope) people sort of get an "idea" about the sort of person someone is before hitting that "friend" button.

Most of the people I know who have twitter accounts are the kinds of people who like to think they are important and whatever they say is something that everyone should know and want to read.

I "use" facebook, though mostly I post counter-arguments to pretty much every poorly thought out comment someone I know says regards politics/world events (they are a twitter person as well ).
