If you stop playing GW games is it because...
The price increases are outrageous & I can't &/or won't pay for it!
The quality of the miniatures &/or material has turned me off
The age of players
The arguements about FW legal in games
The poor & slow updates of armies &/or rules
I'll still play, but won't buy anymore minis (cost & quality issues)
I'll still play (have complete army/ies & won't need expanding)
Poor customer treatment (lack of reward for loyalty to GW)
Bored with GW & like another system/s rules &/or minis &/or prices
I will continue to play & buy regardless of prices &/or materials of items
Other (please explain)

If you stop playing GW games is it because...

I didn't put things like "Life in general took me away..." or "My wife said grow up." options because I wanted to see a more "marketing" view point. Something GW could look at and say "Hey, 76% of people on this pole will quite &/or not buy because....."

Maybe they'll get their head out of their four points of contact region.....

I chose non of the above as my reason is partly due to price increases but mostly how I've been treated by them as a customer. I don't want to give my money to a company that, whether they mean to or not, treats me as if I will blindly buy whatever they put out, call it the GW hobby, still be fine with the codex creep, and still say "thank you sir may I have another" when prices have increased more percentage-wise than gasoline. Yes, I know it's capitalism and all pricing goes up. What about quality of the game and the minis?

I'll continue the mini-wargaming hobby. My LGS and online retailers will still get my money when I buy other products. GW won't, not with their exorbitant prices and treatment of the customer.

I went for none of the above, although the reasons you have stated for stopping playing are all valid due to the current climate.

My main reason is that alot of my friends are now moving on into Infinity, FoW and KoW.

I still enjoy the very odd game of Blood Bowl or WH:Quest, but on the whole my love of 40k and WHFB has dropped off the scale.....

Poor treatment of customers and price rises. It's not that I can't afford just that I don't think I should have. There are lots of other games I enjoy so I feel no reason to keep buying. I'll continue playing until my armies become illegal as I don't see any reason to reduce my enjoyment.

I'm going to continue playing with the models I have, but I won't be purchasing any new GW models until the whole mess concerning banning internet merchants in Europe from selling to Australia and other points south is resolved.

In the meantime, I've spent money that would have went to GW this month on starting up a Malifaux collection.

I'd only stop playing if my all of my friends stopped playing. Not because of peer pressure, but because I'd no longer have someone to play with.

To hell with playing strangers at a game store.

Voted Other, should have voted: 'Bored with GW & like another system/s rules &/or minis &/or prices'.

It isnt exactly boredom though:
GW's stagnation and attitude over the last 15 or so years coupled with the rise of alternative systems and miniatures have led me to greener pastures.

Cost of models isn't an issue for me, but value for money is. Again GW have failed to get my money over the last few years.

I voted other: As stated above, its all about having the people to play with.

If my friends bail from the hobby I stop playing cause there is no one to play with.

This has happened several times over the years with GW.

I still paint and model from time to time but far less often.

A huge part of the hobby is the mates I play with.

I have been involved with some great clubs over the years but there not around anymore.

I am not a fan of playing in stores.

I checked that the quality of minis bothered me, but I felt this needed to be specified: most models are great-especially the plastics. The new Tomb Kings, new Savage Orcs, Arachnarok, Dark Eldar...all amazing! But the bad stuff I have heard about the increased-cost resin FAILcast has turned me off to the quality [control] of the material. I'm also unhappy with the price increases, but you also need to add the "embargo" and "total secrecy" junk to your poll. Those would get checks from me (and many others) too.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

With 40K it's because I felt the rules were pushing me towards buying lots of vehicles, and I don't particularly like painting them. That said I'm thinking of work-arounds using for example forgeworld squiggoths and in the future Maelstrom Tarrask as battlewagons, but I'm not a massive fan of the need to have multiple vehicles. (I'm delighted to paint ONE battlewagon, three, not so much.)

With Fantasy, well, I'm planning on getting a game in every now and then with what I have, but my "building" efforts are going towards getting stuff built of KoW, again because that game seems to play into what I want my armies to look and play like a bit better. (Example, no animosity for my orcs, very streamlined and not OP magic, regiment sizes that look good on the tabletop.)

The price does have an impact, definitely. (I was interested in Mantic originally because they were a low cost source of models, and became properly invested in them when I realised the rules that came with the models were decent.) My idea for a unit of troglodyte savage orcs has fizzled because I can't justify the model cost when I consider what that money could get me from other companies. (30 Savage Orcs- £54. For that money I can get 110 Mantic Undead, and still have money left over for some of their Dwarves to pad out my Dwarf army.)

I know some people say that cost doesn't matter to them, but while I have income enough that technically I COULD keep buying at current prices, when there are attractive alternatives that are cheaper, I'm going to buy them instead and save my money.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I stopped paying GW because of several of the options in the poll.

I have yet to stop playing GW, and likely wont for years or even decades to come.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I'm normally one one to complain too much about price, but there is only so far it can go before I simply can't afford it anymore. That said, I would probably continue to play.

I'll stop playing GW games if other folks do.

In my local gaming group Warmahordes, Malifaux and De Bellis Antiquitatis have almost completely displaced 40k/WHFB. A few loyal gamers remain, but our numbers are dwindling.

Also, pick up games are becoming rare as FLGSs focus on skirmish games or Heroclix-derived crap that doesn't steal valuable store space for hours like 40k used to. And the single GW store in town has become a kindergarten tended by humorless burnouts who are renewed on a montly basis.

Without opponents, I fear that my return to 40k might be short lived.

Prices were a big one, but finecast is what pretty much is having me put up alot of spare armies for trade or sale(or moving towards that) and moving on to PP. They could have come out picture perfect in that resin/plastic mix, and I'd still be gone. No way am I working with that material.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Pretty much this.
Just because I choose to no longer shovel money over to GW doesn't mean I'll stop playing.
I've got a metric ton of minis already at home (nothing like H.B.M.C has, but 5 armies...most between 2,000 and 4,000 points), so I have no real need to purchase much of anything other than an occasional codex to continue to play.

Price. 10 guardsmen is now the same price a tactical squad was a couple of years ago, the same price as the far surperior new DE warriors, and twice the price per model that said guardsmen were a few years ago. Hell, 10 nice metal Vostroyans are now just £2 more than 10 mediocre Cadians or 10 awful Catachans, which just makes no sense. There comes a point where you just no longer feel the product is worth the asking price. I can afford £18/unit, but I expect premium quality at that price point, and the ageing guardsmen kits with their lack of options and extras just don't cut it.

My mainstay army is CSM, and I refuse to pay £23 for the outdated CSM plastics when the Space Wolf players get an outstanding kit packed with detailed sculpts and oodles of options, for the same price.

If new kits with content to match the recent kits are released for my armies for the same prices, I'll probably buy them. Until then, I'm buying WarmaHordes. PP at least have the decency to use metal in the pricier kits lacking options.

I was going to write a bunch of clever quips, and rant and rave, but to be perfectly honest?

It is because of the pure, unadulterated hatred that GW has managed to inspire in me.

The stuff over the past weeks has really been just the straw that has broken the camels back. When I have to have as much grief as I have had over of all things.... a tabletop miniatures wargame?

Thanks, but I've got too many choices out there to !@#$ and moan and carry on over and over over the same old tired !@#!. Life is too short to be as !@#$ed off as I am at thier mismanagement and lack of common sense.

GW doesn't want money? Fine, I'll give it to people who are in the wargaming business.

At the end of the day, I'm a gamer, first and formost.

There is no reason that I should have as negative of feelings against a company as I do for GW.

If I stopped playing 40K, I would stop wargaming as a result. There is an extremely limited group that plays Hordes/War Machine. Malifaux and Infinity are unheard of.

Not to mention, my FLGS is a GW store (with a great staff member, and regular customers)

I quit playing due to slow updates and lack of any kind of release schedule and or support for anything other than what is currently selling the most.
Switched over to Warmachine and Maliaux which I am enjoying much more.
