Isn't a quarter century in gaming kind of a big deal?
I just seems like the news and releases are not much different than normal.
I would have expected more fanfare.
Am I missing something?

If I know GW they'll probably keep everything under wraps until the morning of anniversary in the hope of creating hype. By the time I find out about it I'll be down the pub or at the football. And I'll probably be meh anyway.

That would be quite marvellous! But, I think they are waiting for the day after I buy a FW one to announce it, which I've been toying with for years (so sorry guys! :( )
If I know GW they'll probably keep everything under wraps until the morning of anniversary in the hope of creating hype.
That much is certain

What, you don't think a bunch of useless crap (keychains, mousepads, etc.) and one ridiculously expensive anniversary miniature that's riddled with holes and has numerous other flaws is a big deal?

I have to agree that the 25th anniversary was somewhat lacklustre. So far it’s been:
“Celebrate the 25th anniversary of 40k in style with a poor quality finecast mini and LOTR”.
I doubt GW will do anything special this year.

You missed the point Kid Kyoto.
My point was directed at releases specifically to do with the 25th celebration (in which there was a bad finecast mini and a WD issue which focused on LOTR ).
The 6th edition release has nothing to do with the 25th anniversary.

Except that the photo of the rulebook mock-up has a giant '25' on the top of the cover.
Barring that, I think that people are jumping the gun on the 25th anniversary thing. I would say that it's very likely coming this summer, rather than blowing the whole thing three months into the year.....

It was pretty lame.
By coincidence, I was running a 40k GT that weekend, so I guess we all celebrated.) But with the Disinformtion act in full swing, I don't get much lead time about anything from GW, so planning some big event is pretty damn near impossible on two weeks notice when I schedule other events as far as 6 months ahead of time (a year with GT's).
We tossed the model on the shelf and sold a bunch. Then played 40k all weekend and ate barbeque. Hell of a party, nothing we weren't doing already.)

I think the point he is making is that passing off a new edition/box set as being the big 25th item is rather anti-climactic since they would be releasing it regardless.
Unless it ends up being some mega box set far bigger and more chocked full of models/terrain then past non-anniversary box sets...

I'm no GW fanboy but I'll bet it'll have something really cool. Like the crashed Aquila in the Battle for Macragge set, probably along with something interesting for the marine models.
I would get on board for the plastic Thunderhawk rumors, but GW seems into the big kits like Baneblades and Stompas. I don't see a Thunderhawk out of any material being anywhere near 100 dollars.

I'd buy a plastic Thunderhawk.
Actually, I'd buy two, build both, then throw one off my friend's third-story balcony. Then I'd collect the pieces and make crashed Thunderhawk terrain.

*high fives CT GAMER*
This is exactly the point I was making. 6th ED is a big release for this year but not something specific to the 25th anniversary celebration.
Although I’m standing by my initial (pessimistic) prediction, I’d love it if CT GAMER’s theory came true in that the 6th edition launch being more impressive than previous edition launches.

What about a reprinted deluxe edition of Rogue Trader? I'm sure if people will pay £50 for a deluxe version of the rulebook that they already have, then a bit of 40k history would be an ideal product.
