I was looking through the new WD yesterday at my local GW and checking out the new stuff. (Manager lets me go in the back and see the new stuff!).
I also found out about the Krom clamshell, Ulrik clamshell and apparently we're getting a new codex/cards akin to the Tau treatment after Kauyon... And an Iron Priest!!!
I can't confirm the Iron Priest, but apparently it filtered down from GWHQ.
The Long Fangs are the same but with bigger bases. The rest, I.E. Grey Hunters is just a cosmetic re-package I believe.
The new WD had everything about the Wulfen and it appears there is 5 sets of every load out in the box! Claws, Axes, Hammers, Shields, Launchers etc.
There are TWO unique poses for every model! Including the leader! As there are two sets of feet/ankles and two heads for every body! Which gives crazy amounts of pose-ability! Obviously, there is 3 sets of arms per model as well!! This is 100% fact as I've seen it myself in WD.
Triszin wrote: heads up: atia said ulrik has an alt un helmeted head. Also implied the wolf priest on the 2nd book in the curse of the wulfen limited edition was that of ulrik.

The Curse of the Wulfen rule - as rumored
The Wulfen influence other Space Wolves units - e.g. in 12" Blood Claws, in 6" Grey Hunter, in 3" Long Fangs - they gain several boni you roll for on one of two tables.
If the influenced units are enganged in close combat they gain buffs from the 'Slaughter' table and if unengaged from the 'Hunter' one. The table names are not the actual ones but loose translations from the rumors in german we just got in.
1-3 are light boni like +1 I or Re-Roll Charge ranges
4-5 medium boni (unknown)
6 Furious charge / +D3 A / The 'fight back after slain-special' rule the Wulfen have
Shrapnelsmile wrote: Sorry if this is a repetitious question, but do we know if this is a supplement or a whole new codex replacing the current core one?
It is a campaign book (similar in style to Kauyon, etc..).
I've been told the SW will not get a new codex, but an expansion book - I guess similar to the last Tau update. There will be new models, but I have no details about them (yet).

But... but... this time it's actually true! Time flows strangely in the Eye.
Let's hope the things these lost brothers hunted won't be following them back out later this year.
Curse of the Wulfen is the next campaign book according to the latest 40k news and rumors. Obviously its centered around Space Wolves, but also has a some Chaos Daemons.
Please remember that at this moment these are rumors. A huge thank you to the source for sending this in.

Space Wolves campaign book is called "Curse of the Wulfen"
Also includes a decurion for Chaos Daemons

if true, then these Im guessing blurry pics will follow shortly. =D

So they put the wolf (pelt) on the marine, the marine on the (thunder) wolf, the marine in the (wolf) plane, the marine (on the sled) behind the wolves, the wolf (claw/standard) in the marine's hand.
There wasn't much left I guess, they now put the wolf in the marine, which admittedly works better than putting the marine in the marine (centurion).
Half a thumb's up? The other half if they get away from some of the most ridiculous other Wolfy-McWolf stuff and bring back more of the marine.
? Wulfen are something that many players wanted to get in plastic after the awesome metal ones vanished.
Wulfen are something that can be used by FW as base for their 30k Wulfen (-> upgrade kits).
Wulfen were planned for their last release but didn't got green light (did you ever wondered about the silly backstory for Murderfang? Well, he got green light ...).
There’s a new set of scuttlebutt doing the rounds on the return of the Space Wolves Grimdark Fans:
Sources have relayed to BoLS that the Space Wolves are returning this year, but there are some big caveats:
Look for the Space Wolves to return in the first half of the year, before summer arrives.
This will be a minor “reboxing release”
Look for some originally limited edition models to make their way into the standard SW range.
Look for mostly reboxings with updated bases and the like.
There is no current word on an updated codex.
So this sounds like a 1-week kind of release sandwiched in between other larger releases, similar to say the Age of Sigmar Sylvaneth release window last year, or perhaps the Grey Knight release, if there is a codex to go along with it.
But no, the Space Wolves aren’t shaping up to be a giant Tau sized miniatures and campaign book overhaul.

Annnd this is why I didn't bother with the last one. The releases seem way to quick now and I refuse to pay £30 for a book that will just collect dust in 18 months.
I will however be interested in seeing if there is any goodies I can use in 30k
lord_blackfang wrote: I was just saying to myself, isn't it about time they pulled another 3 SM units out of thin air and pretend they've always been there?
They could update some of the general SM kits while they are updating the Wolves.
Like what? There's very few shared kits. Vehicles, Scouts, and bikes.
Several SW character models are also unavailable currently on the UKGW webstore, so is the Long Fang combokit from 2014
I genuinely would not be surprised to see a Long Fang kit, a Wolf Scout kit, and Skyclaw kit.
Long Fang and Skyclaw boxes were just the "old" box combined with a Wolf Pack box.
If spacewolves are next there should be a codex like the dark angels,SM and tau with minor changes bringing things up to date with Space marines. There is a reason why they didnt FAQed dreads and scouts with the recent FAQs.
To all those who say that the codex is one year old, so was the SM, TAU, and ELDAR so no surprise there.

When Space Wolves came out, we weren't on this accelerated release timetable. Additionally if they follow the pattern they did with Tau it will be part of a campaign release, with the ability to "update" the 2014 book with the campaign book.
If the expansion has formations and detachments that will make for tournament builds not consisting purely of Thunderwolves (of all types) I will be very pleased. Hopefully this will follow the Tau release in that sense, though I am rather curious what the new kits would be. My best guess is updated Space Wolf centric kits and characters to replace aging models, but heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they go full-on wolf with a Gargantuan Creature canine monstrosity.
Automatically Appended Next Post: As for how old the codex is, it came out in August 2014. I've seen a few people elsewhere saying it is less than a year old which is factually incorrect, but yes, it is fairly recent. Besides, all of those rumors say that it isn't a new codex but a Kauyon/Mont'ka campaign book that adds new rules - formations, detachments, new units and characters, various updates - to the codex. Your codex will still be valid.

Of course they did, but seeing as Space Wolves already have a 7th Edition codex that is quite a lot newer than the old Tau one was, there's no reason for them to redo the codex to match the 7th Edition style of data-slates. Besides, I didn't say anything about Tau not getting a codex in that post...so that's not a nit-pick.
Naftka got sent an email reply from geedubs by the by, they were being purposely vague about the Long Fang kit disappearing from the website and said to stay tuned to the White Dwarf. Guess that kinda confirms it.

So I would guess that by next week we should start getting our first info dumps about new stuff/changes and what models will be coming with this release...
I don't think there's been any actual mention though of a campaign from any of the reliable sources this time around - just new Space Puppy rules & models. (likely mostly re-boxing, though Longwangs w/Frostcannons would be cool & Wolf Scouts deserves their own kit)
The rumored plastic Thousand Sons kit isn't said to be coming until after the summer, which would add further evidence that there's no campaign, or else that any potential campaign isn't coming until then.
I am hoping they do more than repack the new Devastator and Assault Marine kits with a Wolf Bits sprue. I am hoping for a different cut of the Devastator kit with a different weapon than the grav cannon. Same for the Assault Marines. Replace the grav pistol with something like a Helfrost Pistol.
I hope they do something more like they did with the Tau and put the updated units in a campaign book and release an updated codex. And then do the same for Blood Angels in a few months.

I don't know whether more kits is likely. Dunno how successful the space wolf range is and it doesn't appear to have any glaring omissions. It seems strange to can a whole game (fantasy) for having too many boxes and units and then to give space wolves a bazillion new kits. Space wolf scouts are perfectly well served right now, maybe a rejig of the devastator box but it seems unnecessary. And GW have started introducing those little sprue things for SW, DA, UM, BA, so I hope they don't break that cycle.
Anyway just all speculation from me. And bitter resentment as a Black Templar player with old as feth upgrade sprues that have seen no love while spacewolves get everything wolfx10.

I would love a giant monstrous creature cyborg-wolf! Or bring back Mark of the Wulfen.
Repacked WG and GH boxes with 32mm bases will come fore sure. The update sprue is a good point, like last fall we could see it getting available to LFGS for a week or two (and sold with a discount).
Ulrik the Slayer is no longer available. Maybe he gets upgraded to Terminator armour. This is a nice conversion (by David "Karaikal" Rodriguez). Such a model in plastic - similiar in size to the latest AoS clampack models - would sell a lot I guess

Must be nice being loyalist marines with their barely year and a half wait for a redone codex. Meanwhile guard orks nids chaos and dark elder continue to languish.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!
Has anyone done any math-hammer to decide if we should be longing for an expansion on Helfrost weapons? I mean, would adding them to SW Longfangs, etc... become an option people actually take, or would they just be a unique inclusion that no one ends up using.... again (see Murder McMurderface)
I know it's patently ridiculous trying to find any kind of logic in GW's release schedule, but if it's now Space Wolves' turn again does that mean it might soon be the Orks'?

They didn't can Fantasy "for having too many boxes and units". The game wasn't performing. It's sad but true.
Space wolf scouts are perfectly well served right now
Space Wolf Scouts are the only Scout variant that has access to Special Weapons. As in Flamer, Meltagun, and Plasma Gun.
maybe a rejig of the devastator box but it seems unnecessary.
I could see a Long Fangs box. There's some stuff that can be done to make it possible.
And GW have started introducing those little sprue things for SW, DA, UM, BA, so I hope they don't break that cycle.
The "little sprue things" are more or less meant for you to be able to convert up characters that are currently Finecast.
It's a really easy way for someone to, for example, make a Ragnar Blackmane.
