Lets do a comparison

4 wave serpents with scats, shuriken cannons at 130pts each, for a total of 520pts in the now old book did:

15 scatter laser hits, 11 shuriken cannon hits and 10 S7 hits.

For the same cost in scatbikes you get 19 bikes and cause: 50 scatter laser hits.

Oh my. They made it better.

Just like everyone said they would! /s

Wraithknight being a gargantuan creature gives it feel no pain and it can't get poisoned to death very easily. Should be a pretty tough nut to crack for most armies.

I wonder how much that thing will cost in points? 450? 500? Is it a Lord of War in a CAD? Or are we getting non-LoW gargantuan creatures with ranged D weapons as normal heavy support options?

Jetbikes are pretty cool

At this point what interests me the most is if Wave Serpents were even nerfed? I mean, considering the treatment the other units have gotten I wouldn't expect anything. It's pretty much a coin flip what they did to Wave Serpents. I wouldn't put buffing the Wave Serpent past GW at this point.

Sadly, I find myself not even caring at this point. Even if they remained the same I see scenario where the bikes don't outshine them.... Thats seriously says something.

You can get 40 scatriders for only 1080.... MY GOD! 160 s6 shots. I seriously want someone to find me another book that can get even half that many shots out of their troop section?

You can get 120 Devilgaunts for 960 which gives you 360 S4 shots.

At a glance they seem like a good way to deal with them but Gants drop like flies

ha ha ha nice one, but not even close.

One has to wonder, taking it at face value, whether utter incompetence or deliberate action are most likely.

Nobody with even a fundamental grasp of the game can possibly think this is ok, surely?

There's no need to wonder that after necrons and the T5 3++ 4+++ shenanigans, its action and it looks like certain writers are just going bananas on their fav. books. and hiding behind the fact that their names no longer get stamped on the book.

Because I said "Nobody with even a fundamental grasp of the game can possibly think this is ok, surely?" this exact same thing when Necrons hit.

Who cares! The jetbikes are nearly twice as bad for the same point cost. If the shield is still there it would even more of an insult

As long as it continues for every book it'll even out in the long run, but we all know it's not consistent. Some books get the banana treatment, while some are just bad in comparison. GW has realised one thing though. Nobody likes when stuff gets nerfed. It's more fun to just see continuous buffing of units for everyone.

My guess is that the scatter laser is 1 per box, so to get all those scatter lasers you either have a huge bits box or a lot of money/ hatred of the human race

I bet the Wind Rider Host gets a nice formation bonus, like re-rolling hits and wounds every turn.

And there it is!

I think I am satisfied with this discussion at this point. This codex has far exceeded my expectations. I now await our next Eldar codex, scheduled for 2017 when they "fix" the codex for reals.

As much as I like Jetbikes, I don't really want to be That Guy who decides to play an unpainted "Fluffy" Saim Hann list at locals. I'll stick to my current list, provided the units that aren't jetbikes are not god awful. GW probably won't fix this, but I really do hope they do.

Oh yeah we forgot all the bonuses the formations give...

Im going to assume its a misprint. If not then its a dare on GWs part because you know that box will only have 1 scatter laser.

Holy feth nuggets.

Never go full slow.

GW has well and truly outdone themselves. All we need are a few posters to defend this as being fair and balanced, and the cycle will be complete.

Thinking too offensively, they'll give them Skilled Rider and the ability to shoot and jink.

Couple pages back mate. We were called whiners and apparently it's all about skill to win a tournament.

While I respect player skill, currently I think 40k is a a state where skill has never been less important for winning.

Oh yes, anyone who dared chime up about the upcoming Eldar codex was being yelled down as a whiner. GW clearly saw the whining and decided to punish us with this unit. In the end, it's clearly our faults.

The top tables at the worlds biggest tournaments are playing a different game than mere mortals play on the middle 80%. Serpent Spam (or bike spam) or Adlance or Centstar may not be scary for those few gods of the game... but for the vast majority of more average people it they are gamebreakingly bad. Those top players have been and are going to be top players no matter what is on the table - so the stupid broken stuff should be removed to make it fun and fair for the majority.

We didn't adapt hard enough to Wave Serpents. This is our atonement.

Seriously though, I am curious what the formation bonus will be.

Uugh.

Seriously? A Gargantuan creature? With D-weapons?

And you can take pretty much as many as you like as long as you have a token bundle of guardians or bikes.

I was so pleased with how the Skitarii seemed so delightfully balanced, only for this to happen...

I thought GeeDubs took a step in the right direction when they nerfed the Tranny C'Tan.

Exactly. I hate the arguments based on "top" tables. Those players are good sure, they also play for drastically different reasons. I can play very well myself, I happen to hate bringing the latest and greatest, ESPECIALLY when it is so awful it discourages other gamers.

I don't care if your the best marksmen in the world, if you bring a Barret with the best sights and the next guy has a muzzle loader, even if your the better shot, it is meaningless when your rifle is SO superior.

I'm not even mad. This gone from anger to rage inducing all the way round to so ridiculous that now it's just funny.

Either this proves GW doesn't even have the most basic of understanding of how their game works or GW just really really wants to sell these new jetbike models and by association the new codex.

I've been trying to come up with a sweet Land Raider build the last few hours but I just can't figure one out that will work. These jetbikes are simply to fast, killy and cheap to sit in metal bawkes all day to try and win. Plus there is still points left over for psychic powers and effective anti-tank to pop my metal boxes. Since these are jetbikes you will need a min of av 13 all the way round or they'll just jump over to you least armoured side.

Who knows maybe DA will come out with 20pt Deathwing armed with super plasma talons with ignores cover with 175pts dedicated transport land raiders to hard counter?

I was going to return all my Necron stuff tomorrow, but feel bad as I didn't want to play broken stuff.

Now I don't know whether to keep it or not. Probably return it anyway. Not gonna feel bad about taking the money.
