Decent terrain of that size is hard to find, it's mostly either model train set stuff and to a lesser degree WW2 stuff (and seemingly 75% of that, or more, is French Countryside). Almost none of it is scifi.

You can always buy 15mm terrain and convert it slightly by downsizing the doors. Windows and other features shouldn't really throw off the illusion much.
Dream Pod (see sig) also sells 12mm Badlands terrain but its a bit pricey...and their terrain sale just ended yesterday. Look around the holidays as they run storewide sales.
Also google "electrical box terrain"...some folks have made nice buildings using this relatively cheap source.

I was a little bit gutted to miss the website launch (out of the country) but seems to have gone pretty well. Deals look nice and the price is reasonable for a premium product; especially if the claims about it's resilience, retention of detail and lack of flashing continue through mass production.
It's harder to choose a faction that I thought but I think I'll join the ranks of the Shaltari with a mega army deal.
My only concern now is that 6th edition speculation will drown out any noise it makes, especially with the lack of updates since the 12th.

Looking at the website, they say there is also a range of buildings/city stuff coming as well. Hopefully mass-produced and plastic it should be cheap enough, and I have to admit some of the studio pics of the units on that terrain are almost enough to make me pick up this game by themselves.

I find the connection through the background, 10mm infantry figures have insufficient detail to be reminiscent of much, however the write up for Sirens shows them to be multi focus individual fighter used to getting into formations and shooting them down from the inside. Which is what their 'extra eyes in both their guns' and posture implies.

Indeed, looking at the background there's certainly an element particularly in how they fight. However their role of "clandestine infiltration and special operations" and "Outside the battlefield, it is not uncommon for operatives to work alone towards shadowy and often nefarious purposes. They are the peerless assassins of the Republic" certainly doesn't mesh with the grammaton cleric's modus operandi. Although the style and background once again borrow elements from cult anime such as GitS I think the closest resemblance is with "Ultraviolet" (from the same direction as Equilibrium). Shame though as it's a rather rubbish film.

Wont be long though. I think Hawk wants to release on time, gave a realistic schedule and is keeping to it. Doing that builds a good rep with traders and shows you are in for the long term. Automatically Appended Next Post: disty wrote:

Well grammaton clerics can do house clearance or assassinations both, as evident in the film. Sirens are very similar, one skilled operate, several roles.
As elite troops there is no limit to what Sirens might end up doing, from infiltration to hostage rescue, possibly even some forms of civil emergency rescue work. Still they are primarily room clearers and assassins, with the former being their on tabletop role.

Blah. Does keeping on time with retailers really prevent them/him from releasing some sort of quick start rules PDF (that they should PRESUMABLY already have) on the website?
I mean, the buzz has clearly died down from this, and I can't help but think that, were they to release a quickstart rules set, it would bump back up. It was like, "info info info info info nothing."

I get the impression Hawk are run off their feet, current focus is to get th retail network sorted out.
Customers have to make do with the info on the website.
Frankly its a sound plan, 'info info wait ino info' lasts longer than 'info info info info'. Besides now is the time to judge sales volume. People are pre-ordering right now and that is giving Hawk the opportunity to guage how large an infrastructure they need. From what little I have been hearing they are revising estimates up frequently, and were advised to do so by Spartan Games, which is connected to Hawk along the lines somewhere.
Quickset rules might actually put a dampener, especially if bits are missing and people assume they have done a GW sized omission. By all accounts Hawk knows what its doing with the product, and that looks like it extends to the rules as much as anything else.

no doubt Dave was not expecting the preorder volume and is working his ass off to get everything ready on time.
Frankly, I'm ok with this. Preorders start shipping on Saturday, so they should be in people's hands next week, at which point Quickstart rules are somewhat redundant - just ask someone with the rules for a summary!

Dont disagree at all; however, it seems like whatever volume estimations they're making have to be, at this point, solely on the models themselves without any real regards to the rules.
This, to me, could mean a few things:
1) They could underestimate their volumes and create a severe shortage once the rules hit. I know there are plenty of folks like me unwilling to commit until they get a better grasp of those rules. All of those people could jump on board if the rules are solid and would then potentially be unable to get models.
2) The rules are absolute crap and they want to push the models instead of the game. I'd be fine if they just wanted to release boutique minis without rules. As it stands, we have some vague information from a Facebook chat concerning the rules which, after a read through, seem like they could be quite convoluted. I could be completely off base with this, but having only read the facebook transcripts, it's really, really, really hard to tell.
Both of those reasons factor in to why I haven't committed any $$ yet. I REALLY like some of the models, but, because of the lack of concrete rules, pointing, etc, it's hard to gague what I should buy presuming the rules are good.
Maybe it's a silly complaint, but if I'm going to buy in, I'd like to know what I need to play a 'normal' sized game. Thusfar, it "sounds" like that really requires you to purchase a large army, but without more info concerning those rules and army construction, etc, it's hard to pull the trigger for me.

Yep, I have until the 9th of next month to raise the £515 I am looking to raise for pre-order.* Got that fixed on my mind like the pole star.
I still don't think I will make it frankly. Just think, if GW had kept their heads out of their bottoms that sort of investment would have been theirs instead.

I don't really see providing quick start rules a freebie; they're almost universally included or provided for free with any starter set for a major miniatures game that I can think of.
To me, the selling point for Hawk is the models. They look great. But they're still a very new company, doing a niche miniature scale in an already niche hobby market. Further, there are no gameplay videos floating around, it doesn't seem like anyone is, at this moment, actively demoing the game, so Hawk really has to rely on those models to earn some profit. As such, why not provide the rules for free?
People that like the minis for aesthetic sake are going to buy the minis regardless. People that are waiting for rules aren't going to buy the minis out of hand. Now, if he were to release the minis he may lose some of those that are waiting for rules, but chances are they're not going to lose that many folks that preordered with no concept of the rules. Contrarily, if the rules were available in some fashion, quickstart or otherwise, they could have garnered more pre-orders from those who are waiting.
Here's the deal. If they have the rulebook at the printers, then they have a PDF version of it. It's that simple. They're already taking pre-order money for minis, so why not offer, at the very least, a digital copy of those rules from the website?
Besides, getting a "summary" of the rules doesn't really do much for anyone. We got a "summary" from the Facebook chat and it really doesn't shed the kind of light on gameplay that you'd need to actually play a game.

Not unlikely, however a bigger problem will be molds. Hawk are using different resin with very high quality detail, its an unknown product for this quality and volume in the industry. How long will those molds last? It would be a disaster if because of unknown tooling problems Septembers/Octobers run of models no longer has the finish of the website.

I hear you, and it is indeed possible, but one can tell a good quality games designer from their doctrine. Go the the website and read the Q&A, dave from Hawk has tried to think of most things and kept balance in the picture. You can see straight up this is not going to have edition brainfart and untested codex problems like are rife with GW..

You are not alone, many are buying rules only for pre-order and working things out later.

Not silly at all, but those deals are fairly comprehensive. From my long look I am considering the mega deals instead, they touch all the bases so I can swap out units from the get go for play variety. I can even 'buy and forget' withe mega deals, but knowing myself like I do, I wont stop there.
All my planned purchases: Super Dungeon Explore, Descent II, Ork bommers, completing my Cygnar and Cryx and Dystopian wars, all have been completely shelved until I have sniffed out this game.
