Also, just to confirm for people - both the deadzone terrain and the deadzone deluxe mats can be picked, and you can choose from any battlezone you want with the terrain.

Another chance for terrain buyers to get in big with this.

So, what do they mean when they describe add ons as "core upgrade add ons"? Do I need to have a certain pledge level to add them?

I really only want certain add ons from this campaign, so I would love to know what I can and can't get without a core set.

No clue, honestly. I've backed a lot of other kickstarter products, but this is one of the more confusing I've seen.

I think I'll stick to Invasion from Outer Space!

@Bob, The core add-ons are labeled in that way to denote their ability to be bought with credit included with the pledge levels. So far as I know, you can throw straight cash at 99% of everything The only things you couldn't get for regular money are the 350 lvl alt sculpt of supreme regent, and the 500 lvl flag raising diorama. I think that's basically it.

For someone who isn't getting a pledge level, its actually very simple. The tricky part is for backers who are at the various levels and who need to decide if what they want is a core add-on (credit viable) or a pledge booster (cash only, third party items thrown in because we asked and or to stimulate backing).

Hopefully helpful!

You just pick the $1 thank you pledge (it won't cost you the dollar on top of your add-ons though, its like a place holder, 95% sure on this ), and add however much money you need to get the things you want!

The Escalation, Core Expansion #1 and Martian Mayhem sets can only be bought with pledge credit. Pledge booster items can't be bought with pledge credit.

Everything else can be bought with pledge credit or cash.

And yeah, overcomplexity pretty much sums up the campaign in a nutshell, I can't even figure out a good way to show off the freebies in the OP since some are attached to some bundles, some to specific pledge levels (i.e. no free stompy robot if you've pledge $300 without BotB or AA pledge level), some to total amount pledged, some included in the boxed game anyway, one is time limited, another is backer count limited.

Its really good value but the structure has been way more complicated than it needed to be. I think this is Mantic's experimental KS for trying out everything and the kitchen sink (yes, there is a kitchen sink mini in this).

Since you guys seem to have a better handle on it, and the whole thing has once again become massively confusing, I have a couple of questions:

1) What extras does BOTB come with?
(not counting which items/sets you might choose)

2) What "extras" does Alien Abduction come with? The pledge level, not the one-click.
(not counting which items/sets you might choose)

3) Which of those "extras" are KS-time limited only (ie not pledge manageable)

4) What ADD-ON items (yellow/red) are not included in the $300 Alien Abduction One-Click? Not counting "buy three bugs for $20", etc. Im aware that the PLEDGE BOOSTERS (blue/green) items aren't included (excepting the crashed spaceship).

So far, I've worked out that these aren't included:
AI/Solo cards
Deadzone card decks (Alien/Human)
Dead figures
Intact Buildings
Deadzone Scenery

thanks!

1) Hardback Rulebook, Martian Regent, Banner Bearer, Stompy Robot with Shrink Ray, 1 giant bug, Zombie Martian, Natlaya when unlocked.

2) Same as above.

3) All of them, you can't increase to $300 in the survey and still qualify, it's in the backer PDF smallprint. Same goes for the resin rewards at $350 and $500.

4) Think you've got it covered there, except for the dreadball team, tiger corps and alt tor (if you missed the deadlines for these).

Thanks! We'll have to think hard about whether or not it's worth adding an additional $300 for the AA bundle later in that case.

What and where are the Tiger Corps and Alt Zar?

I'm pretty sure I made any deadlines ages ago when I went in for a buck to help you guys get the flaming cattle. I got my wife to go in today for a buck to help unlock the new "backer number" reward, so she'll have clearly missed any time-limited rewards.

Yeah, you've got all the time-limited stuff (alt zar and 5 tiger corps) unlocked on your pledge, no need to worry about those, they're $100+ pledged rewards.

I'm looking at finalizing my own pledge, here's how it'll probably stay for the final $203 total:

- $140 Invaders Arrive default EB 1 one-click (I'd really like the apocalypse bundle instead of escalation and martian mayhem, but losing the KS exclusives and natalya by doing this makes it tricky).
- $20 Attack from Space
- $10 Cows
- $10 Civilians
- $8 Banner bearer
- $5 Corpses
- $5 Disruptor Dish
- $5 Pilot Joe

Only thing that can change that now is adorable critter minis.

I'm hoping they have some time-sensitive stuff going on tomorrow. Doesn't have to be more freebies necessarily, it would just be nice to see the momentum and especially excitement level up where they should be for a finishing KS even if we don't hit quite the numbers we may have been hoping for.

In context, I think breaking $500k is pretty fething good considering the amount it dropped by a few days ago.

Oh, definitely. This is worlds better than where we were, and I think there will be much MA fun to be had, regardless of whether people intend to use the minis with the game as intended, or for more wargamey pursuits. I think this KS *could* have gotten into the 700-800k range, and its early momentum had me wondering if Deadzone was gonna get beaten.

I still consider it a very successful kickstarter that will be adding lots of fun models to mantic's range. I think the scenery will continue to do well after it's released on its own, as will the bugs, crashed car, and so on.

Quite excited to see where we'll end up tomorrow, and I'll probably be checking my phone even though I should be in the middle of some rapid fire Deadzone matches

Okay, I think I've finalized my pledge.
-Human Attack Force- $50
-Tiger Corps- $25
-Blaine- $8
-Wrecked Car- $5
Total: $88

I may add extra for the Antenociti Cars after I get the pledge manager along with the human faction deck for Deadzone.

Just hit 520k. Another 5k for Natalya probably won't be a problem.

I'm not completely sure if we'll reach The Surgeon and Wrex (nor the infiltrator babe) but not really bothered either way. I think the game became "complete" for me with the addition of the parabolic antenna, everything else is gravy.

And my pledge breakdown, since these are popular:

BotB ($300 pledge)

2x Escalation, 1x Martian Mayhem, 1x Apocalypse

This gives me:
20 US Troopers
18 Novas Vira
3 Patriot Trucks
20 Martian Grunts
10 Martian Marines
5 Stealth Martians
12 Science Division
3 Saucers
3 Giant Bugs
2 Big Stompy Robots
~20 Human heroes
~5 Martian heroes
6 sprues of ruined buildings
Crashed saucer, burning cattle, civilians, shrunken troopers and other nick-nacks.

All with $75 credit still remaining which I'll use for intact scenery and additions such as the crushed car and Deadzone decks.

They can be bought with pledge credit or just by adding extra funding

Well, I started with the $1 and brought it up to $37 to get Blaine, Edwyn and 3 bugs. I think that's all I'm grabbing, so good luck guys! I added it now instead of at the manager cuz every bit helps.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

As nifty as some of this stuff looks, the spectre of a few hundred DeadZone models on the horizon is probably just going to keep me at $50.

2xMartian DreadBall teams - $40
1xHuman DeadZone deck - $5
1xMartian DeadZone deck - $5

I might snag a Martian Grunts add-on or something later just so I have something to go with the Martian DeadZone deck, but that's going to have to wait due to timing.

@Krinsath, being a total Dreadball n00b may I ask, why two teams? Does the game expand beyond 8 models? If I got the martian DB team and say, the full-size starter box, would the martians have less players?

I'm considering just doing the BotB 1-click, getting the DB team, faction decks, solo deck... so $10 over that already... then probably just sit at $350 and use that last $40 to get an intact scenery sprue, mantic crashed car, a couple accessory sprues. I may go in for more before it's over, hard to say.

I was going "build my own 300 lv" to edit out the mats from 1-click (I have at least 4 mats coming from DZ) but then I got the notion that I will have enough DZ (and even more adding in MA) to simultaneously run 8 single mat games out of my own figure collection =/ So who knows, I guess I'll keep the mats in case I get the notion to sponsor a DZ tournament

I realize at $350 I could bump up to $400 and get WoM instead of raw credit. I'd still get $50 of credit but then I'd get to pay $50 for another game box with all of the potential benefit that entails (never was a fan, but its $50, and gets me extra stretch goals and freebies).

I'll admit at this point I'm starting to get into the confused camp with recent add-ons. Mostly concerning if I'd get a second batch of tiger corps with my WoM, or a bug, or what have you. Gotta do some figuring and see if the extras can bribe me into wanting a second box. I kind of don't, but meh, May go for it.

Your pledge calculator says otherwise, just FYI. Can't find that or the backer guide on the front page at the mo.

Yes. I assume 8 players will be the starting line-up. If you play in a league, you'll likely want 2 or 3 more, though 16 is excessive.

Mantic's retail boxes for DreadBall are really annoying in that you usually only get the exact minimum to play, but no single (or pairs of) add-on miniatures are available. They really should consider putting the +2 freebies for each team (as in the Kickstarter) in all the retail team boxes. At their current "we-make-even-Games-Workshop-cry" RRP for DreadBall teams, that should be doable.
