Yea boy! Thanks to Covid we missed out on our planned year of Ghost Archipelago, so we might still get these (and the Aztecs?) in time to play.

Those conquistadors look good, and there's a nice ratio of quilted armour to breastplates. I can picture them fighting the giant spiders and lizardmen or perhaps looting some Hellenic tombs as easily as fighting the Aztecs.

Really great kit. I can see them in Ghost Archipelago, Rangers of Shadow Deep, Sellswords and Spellslingers etc. I think they will be a good basis for many conversions too.

The conquistadors look excellent. Nice to see some quilted and padded armour among the breastplates, and some different helmet and hat options -- makes them super versatile. Likewise the mix of pole weapons, sword and shield, muskets, and crossbows is lovely.

The Conquistadors look amazing. I see a multi box deal in my future.

I wish they would make the swords larger and not do the surfboards on the feet, but I doubt that will happen.

In fact, while I'm wishlisting, they should really just make everything except the heads about 10% larger so they are scaled for fantasy.

I'm sure there is some crusty old metal range of poorly sculpted Conquistadors or Aztecs out there that they are trying to scale with, but I'd bet the number of customers you'd gain by making them better compatible with fantasy kits is larger than the number of customers you'd lose by not making them compatible with above said range of metal Conquistadors and Aztecs.

If you think all "fantasy" sets are remotely in the same scale you've led a very sheltered life thus far.

I think the best things to shoot for in terms of compatibility would be the other Wargames Atlantic kits firstly, followed by the Northstar and Fireforge plastics. They're all sorta in the same size range.

What other fantasy ranges would you want them be able to work with? Sigmar stuff is far too specialized, and older Empire kits already work pretty well with all three of those manufacturer's ranges.

If no one has pointed it out, those Conquistadors will be a great fill in for Warhammer Empire.

And if no one’s pointed it out yet, they’d make a pretty awful fill in for Dark Eldar.

Oh, thanks, in that case I'll wait for the Aztecs

I don't think lack of suitable miniatures is an issue for Warhammer Empire. The issue is lack of a game they exist in.

However with shoulder pads and backpacks they can make some pretty decent primaris marines.

This looks like a great, versatile kit for sci-fi and fantasy. Just the head options alone can make a few different factions/units before one even gets to kitbashing.

Once you go lizard, you'll always need gizzards.

Those Lizards are great, although it is a bit annoying that they only have two of each weapon type for every three bodies.

Certainly room for a future command sprue with SAW, manpad, and radio options! (or banner, musician, and champion options)

Those chameleon eye heads, some modern webbing, and some body paint might be a nice addition to a bolt action game...

There's something on the sprue I can't identify; right under the tails, there's a left arm with a hand holding an ocarina/bottle/peace-pipe? Is that maybe a powder flask for the muskets? I can't quite tell...

Thank you, Lord Marcus. I wasn't 100% sure from the photo. That's a good little option, regardless of setting, as these guys are still a bit on the barbaric side.

Hmm
Not brought on the lizard's swords. A nice clean and basic design would look better, same with the barbed spearheads.

Spoiler:
There are blades that do widen out towards the end to offer a narrower profile and better cutting edge but this design is purely not practical as only the very tip widens as such and why'd you want to only clip things with the very end of your sword? I know it's fantasy, but practical designs looks nice.
I'd have went for a nice universal machete design, becasue they're jungle/swamp people. And what is effectively the difference between a machete and a falchion or dao?

The double ended spears are a cool and novel idea, a larger leaf shaped blade with more cutting power rather than a barbed head would be a more suitable idea as extraction from the impaled enemy would be easier.

But these are just my conversion ideas.

The muskets and futuristic weapons and gasmasks are really cool though. I like the two captured guns, I can see them going to the more experienced and elite warriors.

Alright, after some braintwisting I think I have deciphered what two of the new sets will be...

The teasered napoleonic mystery set looks very Dutch. Hopefully centre and flank companies, line and militia shako.

The British soldier with the havelock, shown with the lizardmen seems to be for indian mutiny 1857. If so, hopefully including uncovered shako and service caps. That way they will make fine additions for my BIF.

As always, great stuff in the works. I have no use for more british riflemen, but as WA includes all the parts for Sharpes unit, this is a must buy.
