That space wolf is looking even better now in the new photos. I would vote for a pale lime green for magic blasts! Probably just me though. Chuffing marvelous

Just browsed through the thread and I must say, that's some really nice painting. ^^ I love the moody look and the slightly muted tones even on the bright colours. That's some wonderful shading. Bootiful!

EDIT: And sorry for going a bit off topic, but do you know what would be a good color scheme for Dark Eldar? Can not come up with anything
Also, I am sure someone on Dakka could make you a sig if you asked around. It is not that hard. Give them a size, general feel, and, SHAZAM, a sig is finished. Heck, I could do it. Have messed with PhotoShop here and there.

Thanks very much dude! Dark Eldar are really down to personal pref, I think if I was doing them for myself I would go with shiny black armor plating with acid green highlights, I really love the mix of glossy back and extreme highlighting. Then again I am painting some Wyches up atm that are dark grey for cloth with glossy black armor with red trim, and that looks pretty nice too.

Thanks for the sig offer, an awesome chap made me a really nice one, I'm just not using it at the moment as commissions are closed so there is no real point

Thank you very much! I learned a lot with these guys, and I give massive Kudo's to Coldfire for coming up with such amazingly eye catching schemes.

Coming from you that really means a lot Meph. I am beyond flattered.

CHUFFTASTIC. I threw in a lime green shot below, I think it looks pretty coolbeans.

YES IT CAN! Haha, I did two very quick tests with it using green and purple, I think you are bang on with the purple, it looks cartoony yet rather awesome.

(I have no idea what I am doing with Gimp, talk about a learning experience.)

The new pics of the space wolf are amazing Iffy, the black back ground really brings out the colours.

I must say I think this is your best mini so far that I've seen, theres so much to take I don't even no where to start.

A whole squad like that would be draw dropping.

Personally, I like the purple magic blasts. It fits with the blue, black, and white color scheme of the warlock better then the green.

Hmmm can't help you much I am afraid; after seeing the bit about the dust on the back drop, all I see him wielding is a giant feather duster.

Maybe green with shots of yellow through it? Or will that just look like a Swiffer?

Hmmm I'd go with the purple, looks more moody.
it might require some experimenting, but have you thought about inverting the highlights for those purple lightnings? I.e. white in the recesses and dark for the highlights. It might create a more luminous effect?

Ah GIMP, that app can make me feel handicapped easily, such a clumsy interface. Give me Photoshop any day of the week, those shortcuts I can play like pianist. ^^

Ifalna, does it have to start with white by the sword and then to the purple? Or can you switch it? Start with the purple by the blade and then fade to the white.

just a thought.

I like Meph's suggestion too.

Thanks so much! As for a whole squad/unit like this, well, lets just say stranger things have happened.

That would look exactly like a duster. It would be pretty hilarious

Leaving the recesses of the lightning white could have looked awesome alright, but it would take a crazy amount of time for tabletop models :( Could well be something I try in the future though.

I think that could have worked really nicely too, or even going from a pale to dark version of the one colour instead of using a white. I think there is a lot of leeway when it comes to magical lightning!

So they are all finished now bar some cleanup (how did the wires even manage to get that colour?) and they look pretty impressive as a unit, especially with the couple that don't have the effects. I think I got the colour pretty close to the GIMP version in real life, they are a little colour caste in the photo.

If they get the thumbs up from Coldfire then it is time to box these babies up!

Starting on an interesting Grot for a certain Gits Don't know if I will have enough badab black around to get the metals sorted, but I hopefully will. Updates soon!

Wow this is the first time I've actually liked the modeling of an energy effect!

Is that just GS? I've been contemplating trying it out myself lately so any tips would be appreciated! Keep it up, great stuff!

They look great Ifalna!! The group looks great with all the different effects like that.

@FPS: I believe the guy who made them said they were from some Star Wars toys.

Yes, the lightning thingies are from star wars action figures actually. I attempted to make some lightning out of greenstuff, but that lies at the bottom of Iffy's trash bin, where it belongs
They look great. The purple really works well IMO.

Chuffers be chuffed! That looks awesome, that purple was definitely the way to go! You did a great job on those effects, very flavoursome.

Hmmm an idea springs to mind, a wash with thinned white paint and some touchoups with some puprle drybrushing...

Currently working on the Ork this lad comes with and some really nice little resin wolves, some quick WIP shots of the Ork here. Only his metals are finished, there may welll be more faded painted areas added. Skin has just started

I recently stumbled upon this blog thanks to good old google, and i must say that your work has truly astounded me........so much that i joined this site, just so that i could comment.
Your tabletop standard really is immaculate, and after reading the blog from the start, i can see that you really enjoy your painting.
I understand that you are busy, but thought i would ask anyway (hope that's OK with you).......when would you next be available for a commission?

Thanks so much. I spent a lot of time on the skin, 1 because it is tier 2 standard, and 2 because I really wanted to focus on making it look like the light source was definitely coming from above. Made sense as he is so very short. Learned a lot on him that I will be using in the future

Well here is an update

Skins are now done awaiting the . Started on some basic detailing like teeth and nails, looking forward to working on the cigar, it will be another chance to try some new things like continuing on the small lights OSL. Really happy with the skin, best I've done so far I think, but that might be the hours and hours it took talking

Also, quick peek of my WIP being done while the Orks bits dry, hence her being random parts painted Skins done though.

She is super hard to photo, she is soooo tiny!
