*The Chimera now begins navigating a series of abandoned trenches, stretching half a kilometer from the walls*

This does not look good, Space Wolf. Something has been through here before us, and seems to have breached at least the preliminary defences. There are dead Mon'keigh everywhere...

*The Chimera dips and rises as it carefully traverses the trench-gaps*

*Irilis pulls up to the gates of the Hive City. They are large enough to permit the passage of a knight titan, designed in the gothic architecture that typifies Imperial constructs.*

We are here. It seems we will need to find a way in, as the gates are shut. Given the lack of response to our arrival, I would suggest the walls here are abandoned.

*Irilis steps out, and places her ghosthelm back on*

*In the Hive, chambers where people were densely packed are now filled with the purple fluid. The walls, stained purple, begin to glow gently, as the sticky liquid spreads across the interior walls of the hive, the minds of the inhabitants rended into their most basic state, mixing freely.... and forming the beginnings of a single Hive-mind*

*Hrorki gets out and follows Irilis*
*studies the gates as he moves, looking for a weakness*
*also studies the surrounding area looking for another possible way into the Hive*
Well. We can always try to blow a hole in the gate, I have some demolition charges that I brought with me. Alternatively we can look around here for a gatehouse or something of the like.

*Vitani growls with anger as the atorm rages on in the spirit realm. *
Vitani: Hanna, we need our strength. Let's fuel up.
*The terrifying Ghoulette allowed her kagune to emerge and she shows off her abnormally long tongue with malicious intent*

*She lays eyes on the two bodies and she cackles*

*She begins to consume the bodies greedily but leaves a little for Hanna. The ghoul regains her strength as she feeds off of the dead individuals*
Vit: Good riddance.

*Irilis considers for a moment, then settles on an answer*

I would prefer a quiet entrance, whatever killed the guardsmen in the trenches may be inside. However, if no gatehouse is shortly forthcoming, some charges on the gate may be our best bet.

*Hrorki begins searching the area around the gate and their Chimera for some sort of gate house or some other means of ingress into the Hive*
*has his bolt rifle out and loaded just in case of danger.*

*Irilis reaches out with her mind to try to locate any nearby threats*

Hmm... This area is almost abandoned, but I do sense a few.. things skittering around inside and behind the walls...
They do not reflect strongly in the warp... They seem to be communicating...

Something purple...

*Hrorki pauses mid-step*
Something purple? That sounds.... odd.
*he's now on high alert and is scanning the area thoroughly for a gate house and threats*

*Irilis' mind pushes closer to the purple presence*

*Something pulses in Irilis' mind, and she visibly recoils*

Eughf! I don't know what that is, but it needs killing as much as the things at the Room do!

*She's not thinking the same Ghouls as from Tokyo Ghoul, but instead generic Ghouls who eat dead flesh*
*She draws her crossbow and fires, missing probs cause of the concussion she just got which is making her vision kinda fuzzy*


*Gharn and Dria are wandering towards the people in the distance, moreso Gharn just carrying a limp Dria*

*Hanna follows after Vitani*

*Hrorki continues his sweeps around the vicinity of the gate, looking for some kind of switch or gatehouse*
*eventually finds something that might be a gate house and he walks into it and begins searching*
*eventually finds what appears to be a working override switch to open the gates*
I think I found a way to open the gate. Stand by, I'm about to PULL THE LEVAH KRONK!

*Hanna seems hesitant and afraid*

Hanna: S-submit? Y-your t-t-the boss?.... I. I d-don't know... S-she just shot an a-arrow at you! W-whatever you'are d-doing! P-people d-don't like it! Y-you should stop!

*Utterly baffled by the reference from circa M.3, Irilis dashes over to Hrorki*

*Vitani lashes out at Hanna*
Vitani: Shut your mouth! We'll always have arrows thrown at us. We're ghouls! We eat people!... they're just lucky I didn't pick off a live one.
*Vitani sees that she needs to be a bit more gentle with hanna. She grunts with frustration.*

*The Ghoulette turns slightly red and then shakes her head defiantly*

*Hrorki leans his bolt rifle against a wall and begins to pull on a lever in the gate house that will open the gate*
*it hasn't been used in a long while, so it's more than a little bit rusted, so it's slow going even for a Primaris Marine*

*Merg get's weakly to her feet, leaning on her sword for support as she gets up*
*She looks pretty fething mad as she takes a few clumsy steps towards the pair*


*Iris groan and sits up, having been shielded from the blast by Horus*
Iris:...What's...What's going on?
*She looks around blearily*

*Vitani notices Merg*
Vitani: Don't make me eat you too. Think of us as garbage disposals. We clean up the scraps so you all don't have to walk around in filthy carnage.

*Hanna looks conflicted*

Hanna: O-only if you promise to o-only eat d-dead ones.

*Hanna looks at Merg with a hint of fear in her eyes*

*Vitani hisses with frustration*
Vitani: I'm not promising gak to a beta like you!....
*She sees Hanna's face and grumbles even more*
Vitani: FINE. but I'm doing it because I want to! Understand, Pipsqueak?
*Vitani turns to Merg with annoyance*

*Hanna nods*

*She backs away from Merg and goes behind Vitani*
