First Off, that is unbelievabley freakin cool.

Secondly, thank you for sharing the inner workings in detail.

Third, do you know off the top of your head about how much those Tamayi gearbox kits cost, and where I can get some ?

Motors are easy to get, but the gears are tougher.

Adamsouza - Thanks, my dad's been keeping tabs on this thread and he's been enjoying all the inspirational comments.
The Tamiya gear box is $8.75 it is part number TAM70103.
Most well stocked hobby stores have them (or can order them). I got mine from Hobby Town USA.

No Problem at all. All praise in this thread is warrented.

Thank you for the information about the gear box. There isn't a decent hobby shop within an hours drive of hear, but I'm sure I can track one down online, now that I have the part number.

That new gun was a brilliant idea. Every time I think your titan has reached a pinnacle of modeling quality it surpasses it. I really cant wait to see a finished warhound now

adamsouza - I hope the motor will work on your warlord, motorized guns just add a deffinate "WOW" factor to an already sweet model.

legoburner - Thanks, I've got to finish the 2 turbo-lasers, build another turbo laser, and build 1 more "special" gun. I'm thinking an inferno cannon w/ working smoke, but finding cheap smoke makers is proving difficult. I've also got a bunch of left over swappable GI Joe guns from another project I wonder how a modular light up gun would look.

Boss_Salvage - I'm glad you liked it. It'll be really cool, when they're all finished, to have 1 titan with both moving guns blasting away.

Vandez - Gargants are just begging for some cool motors and stuff. With all that extra area inside the gut you could put tons of neat details into it!

That shot of the guns next to each other may be the coolest thing that I have ever seen in a 40K modeling forum.

Yours are going to be the ubertitans. Brilliant work.

On a tangential note, have you got names for these labors of love yet?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Savnock - Thanks! I haven't thought up names for them though. I rreally wait till they're done to name them.

Divine_Tyranny - Thanks!

Tharamanthar - They're not for sale. I've got a couple of hundred dollars in resin so far, as well as about $60 in plastistruct, $12 in motors, most of the plex is scraps from the warlord, and the bits are all left over from my armies so not to much. The resin is being used for other stuff as well so this isn't its only use.

HungryTaz - Thanks!

War Grot - Thanks, I'm glad you like the thread!

Grot 6 - Thanks! I think the cockpit will have some small lights but doing 4 sets of fiber optics will be a bit much
There will be plenty of other lights on these beasties.

I knwo their not for sale and i can understand why, i was just saying if they was not this complecation stopping you froms selling them you could make a lot of moeny from them, i can only imagen what models you will be showing us in the future, i sense some possible awards as well if you stick to modeling and conversions

selling the pieces obviously violates the copyright, but what about selling the molds, or comissioning someone to make a mold for you?

Even if he was willing to sell his molds, which I trust he isn't, he's scratch built 75% of the model and only cast a small percentage of it.

The joints and armor details are nice, but they don't make a titan by themselves.

obviously, but i was wondering on a larger scale, not just with the warhound, although he has done alot of work, im sure that there might be people who would want molds done up like his, and dont have 300 dollars to spend on equipment.

About the only thing I could possibly sell was a mold of the magnet holders or the stuff I hand carved based on GWs stuff.
The biggest problem is I'd run into the same thing Dreamforge did.
Its basically a replacement for something GW offers, and/or based on their IP, and they'd shut me down when I listed the first one for sale.
In the case of dreamforge they didn't even make enough to satisfy all their pre-orders.
So although I'd love to see a world filled with warhounds and make a little $ myself its not worth the hassle.
You can how ever make your own based on the plans.

I've done alot of casting myself. Molds for something 28mm usually cost $20-$50. Something Titan scale, especially custom, would likely cost $300+ to have made for you.

Not only is the mold material expensive, it's alot of skilled labor involved.

Just so you understand what I'm saying, it costs MORE to make a good mold than it does to buy the original model.

Yeah, so give us a recap...I get that first and fourth ones are pom-pom guns like the on the Millennium Falcon. And I imagine the vulcan gun rotates. Do the other two light up?

Death by Monkeys - The one with the clear barrels lights up (there's even a video a couple of pages back), and the other is the turbo laser destructor.

Anung - It doesn't have any cool things because I'm building 4 of them (1 for each titan) and they needed to be reproduced quickly.

adam - You're very right, and all of my molds so far have been 1 part (1 side is flat) which makes them less labor intensive but doesn't make them that much cheaper.
I show off my molds and people go "Well why don't you just cast up a space marine army." Its not that simple I try to stick to single part molds because they last ALOT longer than 2 parts, and often times the resin ends up being more expensive than GWs high prices.

I'm loving this thread.

It's the first place on Dakka that I check for progress.

Keep it up m8. Awsome work and I mean it in the true sense of the word.

I just hope your going to show us your babies all painted up. A family photo before one goes would be just too much.
