I've become so utterly handicapped by these washes!

The boss himself is like... 90% done. I think.

The mechanical parts and metallics like the gun and hand need a bit more work just to make it less 'giant mass of boltgun metal'. I put tin bitz in places on both, but after some badab black wash it starts to become difficult to tell where, exactly. Still, I am pretty pleased with the biker's overall appearance, and I think the eye is enough to make me happy.

I sort've feel like doing the grot next, and then the bike itself.

It's looking good so far Ein. Looking forward to seeing the rest soon. As for the washes, they really give the look of a good grimy leather on the coat, which works perfectly. For the eye, it might look better in person, but the OSL around the metal parts looks a little dark to me and could possibly be a bit lighter, but then photos are always a bit tricky! As always, loving your work sir!

He's Wazdakka, but not Wazdakka.

Inyoka, I know what you mean about the OSL. I'm having a hard time striking any sort of balance without the glow getting overwhelming. To the eye, it admittedly looks better, as it's much more forgiving than a cold, unfeeling camera lens...

That said, I think it gets the point across. I'll tinker with it a bit more to see if I can get the glow on the inner part of the eye socket to be a bit more pronounced.

Fair enough. I've not tried OSL yet myself, but I have a big conversion in mind that is screaming out for it so will have to try it myself. Yours does get the point across though.

The exhaust part is making his arm look Kind of like the big O, which instantly wins in my book. Then when the rest of it is also perhaps the best biker boss i have ever seen, I feel confident to say you have a winner on your hands once again Ein.

I just have one thing that slightly disapoints me, The picture two pages back with your weirdboy, Wurzagg i think it was? Makes it to me seem a bit disapointing you didn't use a red led for the eye to really give it that UMPH.

Its still the best warboss i have ever seen though

I usually rely a bit on the natural light that comes in my apartment for photography, but today's weather has been pretty poor. I took them anyway, and tried to do a bit of color-correction to compensate for the awful wash of my yellowy kitchen lights. You get the idea, I suppose.

I used a bit of brass on the power fist and the piping on the gun to get some more visual interest in there, and touched up a couple spots on the boss. Also more obviously, the grot got painted up. He's not holding on to the pole 'tight' right now because I haven't glued his hand on the pole properly. I still want to be able to remove him so I can paint the bike easily.

Bike next!

Okay. I've not had much time, but I started painting the bike a bit. I've got to say, I'm not too pleased with what I've managed so far... my mentality with this thing was that it was basically going to be constructed from spare parts from his ol' Fighta Bomma, so I was going to have it somewhat banged up, and the paint chipped off the front grill. It's alright, but I've had a really hard time with getting the paint smooth on the reds and metals, despite how much I water the paints down. It works, I guess.

Tried freehanding checkers on the top, and I'm not too thrilled with them, either, but I'm not going to worry 'bout it for now. I'll work on it a bit more tomorrow.

yanno the problem with how incredibly awesome your minis are is... No one can try and impress others by saying "yea thats mine....totally made it from scratch....whats that? Oh I let a uh.... museum "barrow" the piece"
anywho nicely done Ein I think the bike is looking really cool, altho the chips look more like cool paint job then chipped paint

I have to say that, for me, the paintjob on the bike doesn't work. I'm normally a fan of your work, but you do say you want constructive criticism, so I'm going to give it a go. I think the problem with the red on the bike is that you've painted metal all around it so that you get an island of red surrounded by metal. To me it looks like that is the 'pattern', rather than it being a banged up piece of (previously) red metal. Now, it might just be the style you're going for, in which case "Fair enough", but the usual way of doing it would be to paint the whole piece red with a small bit of metal colouring on some but not all edges. To me, it just looks 'overdone'. A few washes will doubtless 'knacker' the metal up a bit, but I'd be tempted to paint more red on the areas, then have many more possibly smaller chips on.

Just my thoughts. Incidentally, you've inspired me to start my own conversion which may well be prostrating itself on a thread here soon. As always, thanks for the inspiration!

Love the model, but I gotta chime in about the paint, one tiny little fiddly bit:

The crossed checks on the front fairing look a lot like the confederate flag. I saw it, and immediately thought you were going for a Dukes of Hazzard "General Lee" kind of look. While that would work for 99% of ork vehicles, it directly conflicts with the Arnold/Ex-pilot nutter theme you're shooting for. Perhaps a single, linear racing stripe of checks would work better?

Either way, great job on the model, the "grimy" feel of the paint on the boss is perfect.

I agree with Teek, it does look confederate/general lee look, but I'm a southerner, so I really like the look.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

I didn't really notice the whole confederate flag thing until I posted pictures, but at this point it's too much work to go back over and fix it, and I think it looks alright.

I did get a bit more painting done. More work's still needed.
