That's quite a bit of tanks you're working on there, though I'm sure they'll all look good. I'm interested to see what your interpretation of them are (I don't remember if Dan Abnett described them in alot of detail). From that formidable list of armor I can only guess that eventually you're gonna out fit the Blood Pact with a Baneblade.

The Locust is Chaos's version of the Lighting right?

Yeah Khrel Kas Obarkon is the nemesis pilot from Double Eagle, he flew the Pear White fighter.

They're very WIP at the moment. But tailored to take down 'traitor scum' like yours.

Happy hunting.

I'll be interested in how your Malcador turns out. There's something very classic and solid about its form -- but sadly it's normall disregarded.

Did somebody say halftracks? *Sniffs air.* Likey.

Thanks guys

@ lord marcus - you're welcome

@ BrotherStynier - yes, it is a lot of armor and that's what draws me too it ; ) I'll probably do a Stormlord before I get around to a Baneblade (even though the SL isn't mentioned at all, at least not yet). I'm not sure about the Locust, but Dan mentions them in Sabbat Martyr and I think they'd be just a bit smaller than the Hellblade. I'm still not sure If I'll expand beyond Guns of Tanith and Sabbat Martyr.

@ ghostmaker - thank you

@ sA - "traitor scum"? Bring it on I say! Make sure we get a look at your Cadians once you're ready.

@ VermGho5t - I typically glue them to the base. If the base is heavily textured I'll put a little ball of green stuff underneath the feet.

I've been watching this thread for a while now, and the thing that stands out the most for me is the Stalk tank.
It is awesome. I can't wait to see it painted.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Hi guys

Just to let you know I put a new blog post. It's not Blood Pact, but it is Gaunt's Ghosts related (kind of).

@ mcfly - I'm liking it too. Hopefully I can get the base completed in the next day or two and there'll be some final WIP pics, then on to the painting.

My blog is at http://davetaylorminiatures.blogspot.com

I'm sure the SL will make an appearance eventually, the Blood Pact manages to get their hands on near everything else, why should it be an exception? I believe the Locust was also mentioned in Double Eagle, I'm not sure though. Well you don't really need to go beyond GoT or Sabbat Martyr, everything else just gives you room to expand upon the army later should you choose to.

By the way, the Genswick 33rd look great.

I'm loving the pics of the stuff so far, can't wait to see the painted Stalk-Tank!

Also, why not use a SL? The're must have been some captured ones in use somewhere. Maybe say it's a variant SL from the captured Forge World (I forget it's name)

P.S. The Genswick look great!

Hi guys

Thanks for your comments, I'll definitely be doing a Stormlord, my Pacters will certainly enjoy that Heavy 15 Vulcan Mega-bolter.

I've just posted another batch of pictures on my blog, so head on over and check them out, http://davetaylorminiatures.blogspot.com

So that you don't have to make one more click before you get to see something, here are a couple of shots of the Stalk Tank on its base

and a close-up of the base it sits on

It was a lot of fun putting the base together, and quite tricky to find a solution to the heavy body/spindly legs problem.

I want to paint the Stalk Tank armor plates with Dark Flesh, the legs and other mechanical parts with the same metallics as my troopers, the Chaos star on its back with Khemri Brown/Kommando Khaki, but I'm stuck with which color I should use on the armor trim pieces. They are the thin strips around the edges of the armor plates (similar to the Defiler armor trim).

Any thoughts?

More updates to come this week.

Cheers
Dave

Nice - I love the shot of the limbless Stalk Tank hanging in space. As far as painting the trim goes, I'd think a nice tarnished brass or bronze might be nice - it'd give it a little bit of a Khorne look to it, but it'd go well with the red of the Blood Pact troopers.

Stunning, Dave. I can't stop looking at these pictures, even though they don't capture the sheer size of the tank.

For your strips along the outside of the model, I think that if you painted it to look like a metal that has oxidized to a greenish hue, it would not only contrast nicely from your red troopers, but will also serve as some horrible Chaos camouflage. I'll add a picture of what I mean.

Great work on the scenic base/support system for your stalk tank!

As for the trim on the armor plates... the same metallic you use for the troopers and that you're planning to use for the leg mechanisms would probably look pretty darn good on the trim. It does keep the palette of the model a bit limited, but that seems like it could be a good thing, considering the military practicality of the Blood Pact...

However you choose to paint it, I can't wait to see the final product. Kudos!

Looking fantastic mate, really great base there that sets off the model perfectly.

I got my copy of "Purge the Unclean" today (gotta love ebay for a bargain!) so ready to go with sorting details of the project when you are mate. Give me a PM when your ready to discuss.

Thanks guys!

I'm leaning towards the regular dark metal for the trim, but I'll mess around a bit with some Scaly Green washes around the rivets, cheers Chrispy.

@ Dante - I've just placed my order (on eBay too) and will let you know once I have it in hand.

Love the base.

Love the detailed edging on the tank -- gothic but extraordinarily professional.

Hi guys

It's been a little while since the last update, but I've been working on painting up the armor for my Pact and getting another side project sorted. Here are the Malcador and Valdor tanks that'll anchor one end of my Blood Pact Line. I hope you like them.

Malcador - heavy bolter goodness

Valdor - compensating for something?

and finally, here's a look at that other side project I mentioned above.

As usual, you can find a few more pictures on my blog, http://davetaylorminiatures.blogspot.com

First off, I love the chaos symbols on the Malcador and Valdor - any special way you did that? Or is it just freehand?

Secondly, the Imperial Trukk is awesome. I love how it's armed up as Chimera (always good to counts-as). I'm having a hard time telling from the picture - that's not a standard helmeted head from the IG accessory sprue, is it? What have you glued onto it? Or is that from a Baneblade or something? It looks terrific, whatever it is.

The head's from the Baneblade sprues.

Great work, Dave! I love the freehand chaos symbols on the tanks. They look amazing!

Yay, Dave's back!

Nice work on the tanks, the truck isn't bad also. I like the freehand and how... thorny you made the symbols.

One thing, the multilaser on the Truck seems a bit out of place. Perhaps a dual-linked heavy bolter? Just a thought. It seems sticking out awkardly, and poor Joe Guardsman wielding the damn thing looks a bit fazzled by it.

Maybe he's making up for something, maybe not.

yes!!!
the tanks look great...
it's not easy to pull off a minimalist approach in these times of HUGE expectations(speakin' as a pro-painter who tries to compete against the top painters with my old school 'eavy metal style)...
i'm of the opinion that that paintjobs cam remain relatively simple, if schemes are well chosen, paint is applied neatly, and all the details are brought to life...

that's the result here...
no over-the-top weatherin'...
no excessive freehand...
no extreme highlights...
just a solid paint scheme, applied perfectly...

the new style of chaos star really sets it all off...
i like it...

can't wait to see 'em done...
