There's going to be a 50pt SR2010 tournament on July 10th. Makes a decent enough reason to travel.

Well I only live like, 25 minutes away... so it's more a securing funds to actually buy my first models kind of thing... but I will definitely try and make it out to see that tourney.

Well, in that case, I'll mention that they've got a tentative plan to do another escalation league in August.

But yeah, I really like how you managed to give the Deathjack a Necron-like head without looking silly, like the original Slayer head. I heartily approve of the plan to replace it as I believe it was your weakest link. The new eAsphyxious pose looks better than it did before the repose, (though it looked great before) and I think you should do something to cap off the non-epic Asphyxious' green rod. As for Venethrax (I think Anthrax is the unofficial dub for him) I like the repose, but I do wish you would incorporate his original helmet into the model. It helps further distinguish him from the rest of the army as a big badass character.
Not entirely sure what to think of the fleshy models you're using. They seem IMO to sorely stick out among all of your awesome necron-cryx hybrid models. But, perhaps you could justify it by making them some kind of techpriests or something? Sorta like renegade Admech who stumbled upon some necron tomb somewhere and were assimilated. Still a bit fuzzy on that though... Anyway, overall I'm still blown out of the murky water by your army and I can't wait to see some group shots of the finished models.

I think Deathjack Might get a new face. I broke down and ordered seven of the "Iron Skull" masks from the Chaos Defiler from TheWarStore and they should be arriving this week. It'll be pretty much what he has now, except with a stylized teeth grill instead of the small holes he's got now. Then I can get heads on the Seethers and my Reaper, and still have three left over for future Jacks.

Personally, I like the Deathjack's current head just fine. If anything, I think it's good that his head would be distinctive vs the heads of your other helljacks. It reminds me of the mask the necron lord wears in Dawn of War the way it is right now.

How many bottles of gold paint have you used for this project? And is it the Citadel Paints?

Given all my Necrons are painted in the same gold, I'm probably on my third bottle of GW's Burnished Gold.

Know what would be awesome? If you incorporated some of the pirate models and Necronized them.

Alrighty. Here's a shot of the Seethers fully finished and standing next to Papa Deathjack, followed by a shot to show off their new heads better. These are MUCH better than the first head I made for the Slayer, they look very menacing. A minor investment of $10 got me seven of these from TheWarStore, and I think was very worthwhile.

Now to get my finished Reaper painted up quick like so I can get to bed, as I have to get up Really early (for me) tomorrow for an out of state tournament that these guys will be participating in.

And as promised, here's the Reaper. A metal Slayer body, with plastic Reaper shoulders and arms. Because of this I may have to get any future non-Seether `Jacks in metal, so the size/proportion of the bodies continue to look right in comparison to one another, which amuses me as the Seether's supposed to be the metal one. We're meeting up at the FLGS to carpool out of state for the tournament, and the FLGS is where I keep my basing materials (as they're primarily used for store terrain) so hopefully I can spare five minutes to get him flocked.

Boner.

They look great! The deathjack kinda steals the seethers' thunder by being so much bigger, though that might work in your favor tactically...

Still interested in knowing how your army fared in the tournament, and how many people stopped and said, "Whoah dude, nice army!"

Took 3rd place out of 14 people. Quite happy because they did not have the new Steamroller coins, of which I've already have a 3rd place one, but instead had the old Faction coins which are no longer made, so I got my Cryx coin that I thought I was never going to get a chance at.

I was one of only three fully painted armies, and got a fair good amount of attention, including one guy taking close ups of some of my guys. The Seethers and Reaper I stayed up late to make sure they were finished never saw play time. Instead I just continued to lean on my crutch that is Infantry heavy Lich Lord Asphyxious. One Seether did get brief table time when the Withershadow Combine was able to pull of a Dark Industries, but the game ended before I got another turn in which to actually move him.

Dont know I'll have any more pictures up for awhile. Everything I've got is fully finished, and I'm not getting anything new at the moment as I am saving up for a new Battlefoam Bag as not everything I have will fit in the one I've got now. After that I'm not sure what I'm going to get. I want to start a full Construct Circle army, or I may continue to flesh out my Cryx building the theme lists for the casters I have. Haven't fully decided yet.

That's cool, I don't know what those coins are but I know what it's like to think you've missed your chance to get something...

So if you're done with the army for now, maybe you could put up a couple full army shots?

A Necronized Malice in progress. Claw hand is build, but I need to rebuild the elbow a bit from where I changed the angle on the arm. I don't like how the elbow on the harpoon is looking either and I think that needs to be completely redone. The stock souls that stick to his back behind the main canopy look stupid and campy I think, so I'm going to give a try of hollowing out and rebuilding his chest to be more like Deathjack's internal soul harvesting/storage area. Other assorted details to get him to more match the style and themes of my other `Jacks as well.

Glad to see you're still adding to your army, and this means there's still hope for a full army shot...

I got the kit, but more for the purpose of gettin the all important card. I knew I wouldn't use the head or tacky looking souls from the get go, and while I wish the barbs for the harpoon matched the existing one better I did still use that.

I got my house all cleaned up so I should be able to find enough clear flat space to set up a group shot, sure.

Het mate glad to seeafter that 2 month wait your back on as i just started veiwing your golden army of death a week ago. Beautifully crafted and being as im a new painter myself i can see the reason for only hitting the dry brush. I love the concept of your army and was wonderring if you mind me using iether your seethers or (and this is a huge maybe) the war jack once i finally get the revenue to build my wifes rediculoslely costom Necron army. I think with a mod here or there they could be walking distroyers.

Oh yeah, feel free to use anything I've done as inspiration for something of your own. Half the stuff I make is inspired by something I saw somewhere else so I'd have no right to complain even if I did mind. I still swear I'll get a big group shot in here at some point. Right now I've got enough stuff in various stages of broken and beaten up that I need to go thru and get everything back in tip top shape first. The good news is that my biggest motivation to get stuff done is tournaments and other special events, one of which I'm intended to travel a fair ways for near the end of this month, and I want my full army looking their best for that event, so I should be getting a bunch of stuff done this month in preparation.

Speaking of which, I've got Malice all put together to a satisfactory degree. I did end up completely rebuilding the elbow on the Harpoon because it just got all screwed up trying to get it how I wanted. If I can manage to get my hands on a third plastic Harpoon I would like to take the barbs off and give him a treble bladed Harpoon. I just don't like the barbs, they don't match the lines on the rest of the Harpoon at all. Just a blatantly tacked on bit that doesn't mesh well at all. Otherwise all he needs is some Green Stuff work, which I won't get done today because it's game night and it wouldn't set in time, and the green plastic soul effects.

I'm loving your work. These Necrons look alot better than the normal "Space Skeletons"! Really impressive and if I ever start a Necron army I'll be using your work as a source of inspiration.

Metal-less Malice all Green Stuff up and ready for the paint. I really wanted to do the treble bladed Harpoon, but couldn't find anyone with an extra Harpoon, and decided that since I've never really used my normal Reaper, and am far less likely to now that I've got this bad boy, that he's getting salvaged for bitz and demoted to a Slayer after I bitz order one metal Slayer claw. I want a couple Slayers for a future pGaspy tier list. and want to use the metal ones so they appear diminished next to my big plastic Seethers. But enough about them, this is about Malice. Weather is super perfect, so I'll go prime him up now, and see about getting his gold and bronze colors done Saturday and/or Sunday between engagements.

Thought I'd be too busy today to get this done, but here it is. Just needs to be flocked next time I'm at the FLGS. The soul stretching to the claw didn't work out as well as I hoped, but I think it came out OK. The others on the back look better due to less messing with the plastic, melting and cooling and remelting to try and get it all bent the right way.

Brutal.

Been waffling on a couple of things and armies and games recently. I thought I wanted to start a High Elf army with the new plastics coming out, then I saw the new plastics and their price and decided no, I really didn't. There's not much more I want for my Lizards at the moment, and I've got a ton of stuff to work on for them already. One of the other big goals I have in mind if building the tier lists for my Cryx Warcasters (except eGaspy, his sucks imho). Given which blog is getting the bump, I think you can assume which choice finally won out.

First Troll all painted up to test out the color scheme. I did all the armor, weapons and gear using the same rules for colors as my previous Cryx stuff using drybrushing. Then painted up the fleshy Troll bits in a solid coat of brighter Enchanted Blue with Bleached Bone spines and gave it a Badab Black wash. I think it worked out quite well, and he should blend right into my Shiny Golden Army Of Doom TM even if he lacks the Necron head. One Troll down, twenty Trolls to go! Fifteen of which I still haven't even purchased!
