Subject: scratchbuilding an ogryn by a GS noob...ohoh
the main parts that make him look cartoony are like you´ve mentioned the boots and for my part the shoulder/upper arm and breast part...they are the weak points of the sculpt...
i have never cut cured GS... is it hard to do? i am more than willing to give this bugger a better sole to stand on...i am currently a bit short on suplies of cheap action figures...tho this might be a good thing to do when we get to a fleamarket in the nearer future...or i might even be purchasing something to fit the bill...by the way, would trimming work with GS through and through? and how much would be good? probably halfing the boots in width and lenght?
the kilt will get some work on it, i for now haven´t came around to do that ...but will do so in no short time...
it needs a few pleats and a sporren though
... care to give an interested but unknowing some insights as to what that might be?
well i thought fat bastard was made up to be looking like an ogryn^^
thought i could do some work on the greeny here but life and things happened...so maybe tomorrow...but i am not sure even that as my wife has some days free of work and she wants to make a tour with our bikes...(bicycles)...i hope it starts raining^^
at Lonecoon
now i know what the sporran might look like... in fact i had a funny moment and put an ogre kind of sporran for that just in front of hs belly too...tho the fantasy version of the sporran is a sight to not forgett in a hurry^^...
...I just don't get what's so funny about austin powers films...apart from a few jokes in there..."It looks like a giant-" "Wang! Pay attention in class!"

Hey Vik i just bought a couple of 'Colour shapers' for when i start the detail sculpting. All the best sculpters on Dakka seem to use them (CM Dante has them in his sig lol). They were ~4 euro each but they are essential for getting smooth curves in stuff like cloth and Muscles apparently. They look like brushes but when you pick 'em up there aren't bristles only a shape bit of rubber. Buy the smallest ones as they are cheapest

well i could have made some progress....but i listened to neil and instead of progressing i just sawed off the legs with the boots at knee level... and i am now in the process of recreating some legs for the greeny...
well i think autisn powers has sure its moments...and to tell you the truth a very hot liz hurley in the first movie is quite a lot merit^^
yep perkustin, colorshapers are very high on my list of things to get me for getting better...as of now i only work with xactoknifes and dentist tools.... which is a bit creepy in my book...^^
i follow CM Dante ´s latest project quite closley and it puts me to shame... his work is whoa...he even does a set of muscles before doing a shirt above...that is very strickt work...
pics will probably come about tomorrow...with a peglegged Ogryn^^
well the green orkide would tie in nicley with the usual red scheme...
well he has a pegleg now....didnt really plan on letting it stay that way... but you raise a valid point here.... a techfeel to the leg would cover up a bit of my worser parts of work^^
by the way... anybody know of any tuts or pics of GS works to make the head of an ogre a bit tech looking to get the bone ´ead look?
you could go full ogryn and have a second wielding his pegleg as a club...

Honestly, for not working with greenstuff before I think that came out pretty well!

well me i don´t have that too...lots of things to do in a household...but if i am contantly getting better (cross fingers here...) then who knows where that might leads to....
Nice!
Are you going to model the metal plate on the kilt?
and I think the belt needs attention...
after that, glue the gun on and ta da!

I thought I'd find a pic with some humour in it:
