I think a point of my post was missed by a few people. I wanted to show the slow realization of MY decision to quit playing GW. Which I think is a pretty big deal.

I started playing them in the 9th grade when I was 13 years old. Now I am 30....that is 17 years of playing these games. More than half of my existence has been playing the GW games.

So honestly it is a sad moment that I choose to walk away, not just partially to wait for a brighter future but permanently.

I am tired of all the disappointment that I personally experience from GW. I have wanted an AWESOME codex for my armies and have never got it. I played Eldar and Chaos two of the most popular armies next to Space Marines and both of these armies have had only 3 codexes from the time I started playing. Which, in all honestly, LOOKS like a good track record but we all know the truth.

You didn't like the previous Chaos Codex? You're the first Chaos Marine player that I have known not to like that codex, the possibilities that it allowed were endless.

I'm just saying - if you don't like the prices - don't play it

This comment I always find pointless.
Even more so on a thread titled, "Finished With the Beast".

Furthermore there are plenty of comments to the effect of "I love the game but no longer willing to buy GW"
People seem savvy enough to make up their own minds as to what to do whilst not buying from GW.

Again, why would any sane person want to spend more on their hobby. Do you as someone who can still afford it really not mind having to pay more?
Surely a 100 SM's for a £100 is better than 50 SM's for a ton, however much cash you have to lollop around with?

And you are also excluding a lot of players from the game who don't like the prices but are reluctant to give up a game they enjoy.
Should they also take you at your word?

I don't mind spending more because I don't have too. I got my Tau army when things were still sort of cheap (got a few Piranhas the other day from DarkSphere). I will probably buy the new Tau when it's released. I just won't buy as much as fast. I'm just having fun with other systems at the moment that are a) better priced b) better rules. I will never quit GW because I still enjoy it, which some of you seem to struggle with. End of the day it's two guys having a laugh over some plastic soldiers and dice. I get a lot of pleasure from painting and modelling so for me I get even more out of it for many, many hours.

My comment was a little rash and I apologise, people should be able to play what they like but sometimes $$$ is a deciding factor over that. If we like it or not :(

Personally I don't struggle with that idea at all nor do a lot of others who have quit GW.

For the same reasons that I continue running GW games at the library, because the kids enjoy it. Am not against people playing what they want at all.

Im not a GW hater. I do enjoy playing 40k but i too have been down with the state of the hobby. It seems like they have been screwing up on the codex recently. I only say this because i have given up on two codex that i used to really enjoy playing. Orks and nids.

Ork got a huge bump up with their new codex. now they have some of the best shooting and melee in the game. Nids went from having really good melee to the new vision of nids. a pathetic effort at some kind of synergy based army that totally misses the boat when faced against anyone who knows the dex. easy to beat. lots of worthless units. only one or two builds. They failed with this one.

I really wish GW would try to introduce a little more balance to their systems. as it is i see them raising their prices while cutting production costs at the same time as they release crappy codex's. result. i am now dropping armies on E bay.

Pestilence Provides.

Not sure but in my area, I have the choice of playing a wide assortment of 40K players, a moderate assortment of warmachine/hordes players, a small assortment of fantasy, and the sporadic other game. The hardest part is that GW produces great models which is why most people start with the game system. When they miss with a model everyone complains.

In Orlando, one of our FLGS is starting to get more Warmachine players than 40k players and Malifaux has started to take off too. Their model line is fantastic and cheap to get in to the game.
