While Greywolf is sleeping off his metaphorical pixie sticks, I agree with the sentiment. Have you considered offering the chance to purchase additional items at an appropriate cost to cover yourselves. Wally Squad is the place to be at the moment, though I would only be able to get a De Marco PI or a Travis, not both to make the team up
What we are asking is to consider having those four miniatures as a "Add 1 for $X" that could be added to the pledge. That way you can squeeze some extra dosh out of the people who want to expand their Judge force (Psi Judge + Judge De Marco) or go the PI option (Galen and Travis) or even get all four because they love the characters.
At the moment to get all 4 you need to be plonking $300 and that is a little high for myself unless i get people to take 5-7 of the box sets to take off my hands.

Lord GreyWolf wrote:I blaming this KS project on my 2000AD plunge just got back into the Dredd world via my old comics I found. and I have found even more ideas for Box sets:
Vampire Hershey and the Blue Hells Bells [Vampire judges] the Mutant Judge Child and ZOMBIE DREDD!!!!!!!
Block armies, various minis that could be added to a Citi- Def box set to make them sutable for a Block scenario. rag tag civs armed with various weapons to flesh out a Citi- def set.
maybe even having some transfers made up to be able to be placed on their backs depicting various "Blocks"
another idea to add to Wally, council and chief could be tokens of some kind that would aid in playing the game from a can of BOING to capture the Dark judges, to various status counters [eg riot foam, place a marker beside or under the effected model to remind you they can not do anything this turn] Riot foam neutralizer [eg a can of spray painted in a particular colour to denote its a neutralizer, could use the same token as BOING]
I still think if your adding in the Rouge trooper with a south and Nort soldier at least add in the Traitor General and give us the option to buy more of the south and nort troopers. enough to make a squad and we could simply use the Block wars rules to play them until the offical Rogue Trooper rules come out.
with so many KS projects out there currently offering more and more "buy EXTRA stuff" it has been hard on the funds and the $$ can only go so far or on a few things. I am already looking at reducing my pledge on another KS project or even dropping it as its turing into a cash cow.
also it is hard on those pledgers who live outside of the U.S [considering its the currencey used by all KS] as we have to deal with our exchange rate which isn't fun. $180USD [Wally+Lawmaker+judge dredd] is $217NZD the bonus for me is NO postage costs. So the money I would normally add to it is now spent on mins. I understand Moongoose has to make a profit, but I hope there won't be to many more please "pay $XX to get this item that you really must have or else your game will suck." = cash cow.
I don't mind paying some thing extra but when its done on SO MANY items it gets a bit over the top. and the amount your paying starts to spiral.
If you're happy with what's offered at your pledge level, then just be happy with that. Your game isn't going to "suck" if you don't have a Pat-Wagon, or all 4 variants. If you buy anything from something aside from a local importer or FLGS, you're dealing with US$ or UKP. Both of which (even with shipping) will usually be shedloads cheaper than local prices.
Not sure what you mean by "cash cow" - but I'm assuming you're talking about DreadBall - but mate, - it's just a board game with miniatures. You can just buy the boxed set at retail and you've got enough to play. You seem to be saying that you "need" all of the extras "or your game will suck". Do you actually need all 8 (or whatever) teams along with coaches, star players, trophies, and alternative boards? Of course not. I mean, do you have every single Warmahordes model released? Or (insert same argument for the other systems and rulesets you play, 6mm WW2, ACw, etc etc). Sure it's very easy to get caught up in a Kickstarter frenzy, but just remember to breathe deeply, step back, check your pledge level and see if you're happy with whats in it wiout looking at any extras or add-ons.
Back to this KS.. I don't see ANY "required add-ons" here. If you want the $5 Dredd, or the Brit-Cit judges, they're extras because they're different and separate pledge levels. Just like the RPG books.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Vain - Even if they can't be added a la carte, at worst the named characters will all be available after the kickstarter as individuals.

@scipio.au your vision is to the point and made it clear to me I will be reducing my pledge on said mentioned qouted KS.
the felling of having to get this and that is quite often felt on large KS projects. Cash cow is where you have a lot of add-ons that require extra cash to get. [this is used to get some quick cash] these may or may not add value to the game but they are there and you really do get the feeling the game will suck with out them.
I think I do suffer from some form of KS OCD. I just was trying to convey that I hope the jugde Dredd KS does not become a cash cow.
I am hooked now and hoping we get to $30k goal so we can have the Rouge Trooper and ABC warriors.
Cheers

I just hope that the hype justifies the efforts, and we don't go back down some roads already traveled.
"80 % better...."
" It was someone elses fault...."
"Its because of the manufacturer..."
The game will not suck without all of the lickies and chewies. If you want to get down to brass tacks, this stuff is already on preorder over at FRP, and will be available retail, all in good time. Good move on using the KS to build up the hype though. The stuff has a good standing right now, and unless we go back down some already traveled bad road, we see a definate improvement over the past.
I will give credit where it is due, and I see that this KS is a nice step in the right direction.
I am honestly interested, and am going to go out on a limb and drop on 300 bones for this. I like JD, and the 2000AD magazine, almost as much as Heavy Metal. Mongoose has a long way to go for me personally, but this game is looking like they actually have a plan and are going forward with it in trying to gain some lost ground.
Though I still have some mixed feelings over it, good luck in the KS, I like what I see, irregardless of the "GIMME, GIMMES!!!" out here.
A fine looking rerelease of the miniatures gig from you, Mongoose, I hope it goes well.

The next goals have just gone up on the Kickstarter. The first is a Specialist Judges box and the second is an International Judges box
We were flabbergasted this morning to come into the office and see you had blown through two stretch goals over the weekend! We really thought it would take a little longer, hence the slight delay in getting the next stretch goals up!
Anyway, the ABC Warriors and Rogue Trooper are now yours - or, at least, they will be in a short while!
We have had lots of suggestions for the next stretch goals and, in the end, we selected two.
First up, if we are lucky enough to have your support to $35,000, we will add a brand new box set covering Specialist Judges - there will be new poses for Med and Tek-Judges in there, as well as Female SJS and Exorcist Judges, and brand new Heavy Weapons and Flying Squad Judges!
If you are still hungry for more Justice Department goodness, the stretch goal after that w ill be a Judges of the World set, eight judges from different Mega-Cities around the globe. They will all have entires in Block War, meaning you can bring an 'exchange programme' judge onto your side at any time!
In addition, a little later this week, we will be adding a little thank you reward to several pledge levels - just a little something we have been working on that is not really big enough to be a stretch goal, but a lot of you have been asking for it and so we wanted to add it by way of thanking you all for your support thus far.
In other news, we are also updating Block War this week with more content, and we have started the process of commissioning the new models from the stretch goals. We have Stephen May (the gentleman behind the recent Brit-Cit Judges) working on a Citi-Def Squad, and Gary Morely is about to be given some of the 'character' models. We are hoping to have pictures of greens of some or all of these before Kickstarter's end, so you can see exactly what you will be getting, along with news that plenty more models have been commissioned - so you won't have to wait long for your goodies!
Sandrine is, unfortunately, ill today (nothing too serious), but when she comes back, I believe she will have a Riot Wagon to display to you all!

I should also mention, there is a new Sector Chief pledge level at $500, as suggested by a backer to give you a midway point between Council of Judges and Chief Judge.

I'm confused as to why anyone would go for the new level though... Unless I'm missing something you can get everything in the Sector Chief level for $30 cheaper by buying it all separately?
Council of Judges ($300) + Rulebook ($30) + 3 extra Pat Wagons ($120) + Lawmaster ($20) = $470

Thinking that we have plenty of "Good guys" to use in the Dredd game but what about baddies:
Do we need more? and if so WHOM should we push to get added?
Also I'd love to get a box of Perps. you know cheap minis we can use to arrest or run down on our Lawmakers. they can be armed or unarmed what ever takes your fancy
10 or so in a box, or do unarmed civs 10-15 in a box so we can use as meat shields or have to try and save.
what else are we wanting for this game?

Two new items for you today.
First, we have added a new Kickstarter-only set - you will not be able to get these models as a single collection after the Kickstarter! Due to popular demand, we have added a Justice Department II choice, which gives you Judge Dekker, Chief Judge Caligula, the Academy of Law Tutor, Judge Dredd 1 and 2, SJS Judge, Cadet Judge and Female Cadet Judge in one handy package.
You are free to select this as one of your box set choices, if your pledge level gives you set choices, and it is being added to Council of Judges, Sector Chief, and Chief Judge levels automatically..
Second, many of you have asked us to a) provide a good view of the models in existing box sets and b) put back the concept art for the new sets.
You can get a poster of all these sets at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/boximages.jpg

Another stretch goal has fallen, and specialist judges will be gracing tabletops all over the world - many thanks for your support in this.
We have a fair bit of news for you today!
1. A new stretch goal has been added. If your kind support can extend to $45,000, we will be adding four models from the Doomsday for Mega-City One storyline; Nero, two Assassin Droids, and Chief Judge Hershey. These models will be added to the Sector Chief and Chief Judge pledge levels.
2. If you are all wanting more after that, we are beginning to prep another stretch level, which will introduce some extremely well-known bad guys (and gals!) of Mega-City One to the range. More news on this if we pass the current stretch goal.
3. We have been overwhelmed by the support this project has enjoyed so far, so we wanted to give something back. To that end, we will be creating 'weapon packs,' selections of weapons from the comics that you can use in dioramas, on bases, or conversions to equip your forces as you see fit. We have not yet collated all the weapons that will be appearing, but there will at least be Close Combat, Pistol, Rifle, and Justice Department weapon packs, and maybe more! If you want your judges armed with Stub Guns or the Mk I Lawgiver, or want to beef up your Fatties (!), this will be an easy way to do it! We will be adding at least one weapon pack (and maybe more!) to every pledge level from Street Judge upwards. No need to do anything, you will find these goodies in the package(s) we send you.
4. Something for you all to think about. From the time we get actual miniatures in our hands to the time we have an actual box set can be a month or more. So, you have a choice whether to receive the miniatures as soon as we can get them to you, or wait for the actual box set to be made. No need to decide now, but it is something we will be asking at the end of the Kickstarter. All depends how badly you need to get your hands on your new models!
5. Finally, we have added a new pledge level, Med-Judge at $900. This is a very special (and limited) reward as we will, on your orders, be commissioning one of our painters to paint any one box set you choose to Studio Level. The models these guys are capable of are exquisite, and you will not be disappointed with the results. It will take a little time to do this, of course, and so we have limited this to just 16 backers for now. However, if you want the finest Judge Dredd models in your block, this is the way to go.
We still have lots coming up in this Kickstarter project, from rulebook and Block War supplement updates, to new models being unveiled, to maybe another freebie a little later on down the road. Our grateful thanks to everyone who has joined us thus far - we really appreciate your support and you are certainly helping to make the Judge Dredd miniatures game one of the best supported of its type. Automatically Appended Next Post: The Brit-Cit Judges, including a Detective Judge, are now available for mail order.
The Brit-Cit Justice Department, officially referred to as Her Majesty’s Justice Department (HMJD), maintains law and order in and around Brit-Cit. It is led by the Chief Judiciary and answerable to Parliament. The judges of Brit-Cit share much in common with their counterparts in Mega-City One, having similar uniforms and close diplomatic ties. However, the two have many differences in operational procedure and administration.
You can find out more at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniatures/judge-dredd/brit-cit.html
We have also brought back the Cadet Judge from our original Judge Dredd range, now known as Cadet Judge 2.

A quick break from the Judge Dredd Kickstarter, as we unveil new ships for our two A Call to Arms games.
We have a variety of new ships now available for Noble Armada, with reinforcements for the Noble Houses, and the technologically advanced Church fleet.
No single institution has as much impact on day-to-day life in the Known Worlds than does the Church. Despite the Church’s many factions and sects, the average peasant sees it as a giant monolith, dedicated to saving humanity from the evil inherent in the universe. As far as commoners can tell, all priests, bishops, archbishops and patriarchs work toward the same goal, hand-in-hand, fighting evil together. Never mind the fact that they call one another heretics; the Church itself is good. The peasants’ view only changes when someone tries to replace the sect of their ancestors with a new one.
You can see the new Church fleet at;
http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/miniatures/noble-armada/churchfleet.html
We have also just released the Decados Michaelangelo Light Cruiser, and House Li Halan now has access to the Ananda Martyr Fighter, capable of wrecking even large warships in a collision!
For A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, we have just unveiled the Gorn fleet, with all new ship designs. You can see them at;

Been scooped again
Another stretch goal fell this morning - thank you for your support in that. The Judges of the World set will now be added to the range, bringing a distinctly international flavour to the game!
Next up is a stretch goal for characters from the Doomsday for Mega-City One storyline, including two Assassin Droids, Nero himself, and Chief Judge Hershey. We have added Hershey to several of the pledge levels now, so many more people will be able to enjoy what will be a great looking miniature (graphics for the pledge levels will be updated on Monday).
Sandrine is unfortunately ill again today, so I cannot showcase what she is currently working on - that will come next week. So, instead, I will reveal the next stretch goal, one that (with your continued support) will bring some of the worst and most notable villains to bring disaster to citizens of Mega-City One.
It is a great line up; Warmarshal Kazan, Blanche Tatum (as the Executioner, many of you have been asking for an alternative to Megaman for the Lone Vigilante!), Rico Dredd (fresh from Titan!), Sabbat, the Judge Child, Oola Blint (now that will be a fine looking miniature!), Kenny Who?, Chopper (as the Midnight Surfer) and Stan Lee.
These models will be added to the Sector Chief and Chief Judge levels, but the Street Judge and Wally Squad levels will get their choice of any one of these miniatures, while the Council of Judges level will get a choice of three!
I'll be about to answer comments over the weekend, though there won't be a formal update until Monday afternoon. I'll be spending the weekend working on the final updates to the Judge Dredd miniatures game rulebook (constantly fiddling with games is a Games Designer's disease!), and adding more material to Block War. You will be able to download the results to both of these, for free, next week.

Another stretch goal has just been past - thank you all very much for your support thus far. Nero and his assassin robots will soon be making an appearence in Mega-City One!
A few things for you in this update...
Sandrine remains ill (nothing too serious, just debilitating), and so some of the vehicles and other accessories I was hoping to show you by now will have to wait a little longer.
However, this does mean we are going ahead with the next stretch goal, and it is for something we know a lot of you have been after - the Mechanismo robots! We will be creating four of these monsters/earnest Law enforcers (depends on your point of view!), covering the Mk I, MK II and Mk IIa variants. Even if you won't allow them on the streets of Mega-City One, they are just perfect for risky missions in the Cursed Earth, Undercity, or alien worlds!
We have also managed to update the Block War supplement. You can grab it here as normal...

...and you will find some new weaponry, new Mercenaries, and a whole new force - we are showcasing the East Meg Invasion Force for the first time! A perfect foe for both the Justice Department and the Citi- Def (and any punk who objects to invaders on his turf, for that matter...).
We have quite a few things lined up for you this week, including the last update (it really will be the last this time!) of the main rulebook. Could not resist just a few tweaks here and there, and you are going to like what we have done with Talents!
So, stay tuned, and keep an eye out for these updates, as we will have a few surprises and 'cool things' for you!
