Yes. But if they are making d10s who is to say they won't use them again later?

So? Their "official tape measure" has Centimeters on it, but I don't have any illusions that they'll be changing measuring from inches any time soon.

...A reactor run on blood. Peak 40K everyone. *slow clap*

I'm hoping that it's just "Yeah, totally. Run on the blood of martyrs! You too can power the Imperium!"

Even then that's...special.

Was useful when they still produced Epic. Will be useful when adeptus titanicus returns!

I think its pretty unlikely that we won't get any more start collecting boxes this year. GW is not so foolish to pass up the holiday shopping opportunity there.

"Along with a little bit of promethium". Like I said, assuming that's code for "Really just promethium but we tell people it's really the blood", that's a bit over the top, even for 40K. Imo.

I'd like to see a bone splitta's getting started box. Even a Beastclaw's would be doable though it'd only be 5 models most likely.

I'm holding back on a few AoS things until I see if they release mega getting started's for them.

My first thought with them selling "not d10s" is that a future version will use d10.

The bases look cool, but seem out of place in an army because they won't look consistent. So not sure what they are going for; they look COOL, but unless you do a whole army based similarly, the hero base is going to not give a cohesive look.

I don't think they are suppose to look cohesive. They are HERO bases after all. They are to put a HQ on to make him look more heroic. Make them stand out.

Didn't the German and Japanese editions of Warhammer use cm at some point also?

Some how I missed this. Someone said Hero Bases? So more bases not molded nicely and not crips made in China eh?

The German not, IIRC the Spain did. Don't know about the Japanese. German LotR had it as an alternative.

And, btw, it's not that bad for the sales if you have both on an ordinary article of daily use.

I saw a tidbit that maybe someone with the new white dwarf can confirm.
It contains a hint for the following month which says 'after Prospero'. That sure sounds like 40k thousand sons to me.

Ah, Thank you! I knew their were some verstions that were in CM, before they sort of unified everything a few years ago. I'm sure I remember the Japaneses one using it at least when GW put up free PDF's of all the Japanese rule books up for free before they said everything would be going to imperial system.

GW's facebook have confirmed 40k 1ksons are soon, so that would make sense.

Except it doesn't run on blood. It runs on promethium, with blood mixed in.

Right, because the idea of humans being used as an energy source or food source is not a classic sci-fi trope whatsoever. Nope. Never has happened.

Who knows, maybe it is the byproduct of the thousands of Psykers that are sacrificed to maintain the Golden Throne. Maybe they drain the corpses of their blood and ship it off to the different forgeworlds. Psychically infused blood might provide some sort of additional energy.

Just spit balling, but that is how I am calling it.

I couldn't tell from the video where they showed Magnus and the TS sprue if the TS are 30K like the FW models or 40K with the big traditional helmet. My assumption would be they are going to be 30K given the Prospero box just released but then again Magnus is a post heresy Daemon version so I am not quite sure? Also TS are one instance where I prefer the 40K style more.

The stuff you saw in the video would be for 40k. 30k would come from Forgeworld, not GW. B@C and BoP are the rare incident of GW producing 30k content.

Are you sure about that?

I've been looking around to find it but I swear I remember someone saying that B@C and BoP were indicative of a coming shift from HH as a FW only product to a mixed GW/FW project.

I mean for them to make 1 HH boardgame is rare. For it to be multipart, a happy coincidence. But to make two boardgames both with multipart kits of different armor types, as well as for the second set to launch the basic troop for an entirely new faction in HH (Custodes)... well call me suspicious.

Not to mention we know these multipart kits are going to get repacked into standard shelf boxes, which strikes me as an odd choice for what is essentially a 40k vanity item when most GW shows are already out of excess display space.

Personally regardless of silly fluff, I think the reactor model just isn't doing it for me. I think I will just make something better looking about the same size from hirstart sci-fi blocks.

Your onto it. Same concept. Soul power, and all that.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

What not good enough for Grey Knights? Yes that is how stupid this sounds. No where was this ever in GW lore before and now to add something so out of 40K that doesn't makes lots of sense at least the Imperium would never do. What are they Chaos? Geez the IoM sounds more and more like Choas every new edition coming out. Maybe the False Emperor rumours are true.

If you don't like it, change it. Say it runs off Space Marine rectal discharge or giant space hamsters. Who honestly cares? Seriously? Why is this actually a big deal? Or don't buy the frickin' model. No one is holding a gun to your head. I was just brainstorming a way that this could be explained that makes sense to me.

Read the excerpt that was shown in the promo picture before you come in here hating.

It says "the blood of martyrs mixed with promethium"... in general when I read a list of two ingredients like this to me there is an implied predominance of the first, such as "gasoline blended with ethanol" where even in the most extreme case I would think it's equal parts of the two.

It would more reasonably make sense as "fueled with promethium anointed with the blood of martyrs".

Not sure why someone stating a concept makes sense to them is so difficult to grasp. It fits in the universe he understands to be 40k - if it doesn't fit in the universe you understand to be 40k, cool. Get on with life?

It's a great model (or 2 great models, the pictures suggest they can be placed separately). I think they would look great on my Necromunda board painted all rusty-like :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I'm not fond of the exhaust pipes, it looks like some Ork kustomization. That's my main concern with the Haemotropes Reactors. But I guess I can remove them easily.

I don't know why, but these reactors feel "small". Maybe it's just because of the pictures.

About the fluff, nothing really bothers me. After all, we talk about a civilization using actual skulls in its civils buildings and really horrible roads for its cities (guess we know why there are so many tracked vehicles in the Imperium).
