It's a really fun model but an absolute pain to put together; particularly as there is no socket / engagement with the scenic base. The air in here turned a little blue whilst trying to do that...

At the risk of repeating myself, the standard this month is amazing again. Well done everyone. I’ll resurrect this thread with a photo when the land raider is finally finished in 6 months!

Awesome model Jadenim- I think I have an OG metal one in the loft somewhere, I’ll dig it out so you can compare. I seem to remember that one was a bitch to assemble, too!

I've still got work to do on my knight.

I've done some freehand lettering on the scrolls -

As well as some other detail stuff like the eyes and verdigris. I've also started the base:

The part I'm still dreading is the transfers. I hate transfers, and I'm terrible at them.

Apologies for the delayed subject poll for next month, I'll try and have it done for tonight. I'm in the last couple of weeks of my dissertation work now, so things might be a bit on the slow side for a while but after that they should be back to normal.

A little bit busy to upload photos to dakka hosting so quick linking the pics on instagram but the trukk is coming along nicely and decided that I'm adding a Big Mek and 3 killa kans to the mix for a Big Mek's Workshop entry. Will add proper proof and pics later and remove this link

Thanks mate. That was my first attempt at freehand lettering. The bit on the chainsword is meant to say "Fang" but the "F"s in the script I chose look a bit weird.

I could still cock the whole thing up with the transfers, of course.

Yeah it is. Thanks! I found a little guide to doing it, but it was still super nerve-wracking. You can go online and find gothic script things where you type a word and get a choice of several different types. You can download an image of the word. I had that on my phone screen and basically copied it. You then start in the middle with really thinned paint, so that you can only just see it as you paint it. You're sort of sketching it out. Then when you've got it in the position you want, you go over it again and again with the thinned paint, building it up in layers. At least that's how I did it.

It's coming along nicely. First time ever painting hazard stripes, but that's my fault for leaving it all late in the month and not getting some practice in on the infantry.

Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Nice work and a very good first attempt at hazard stripes. Which reminds me..... I must finish my Cawl, only got the hazard stripes left to do.

Some really nice work coming in everyone. I'm really enjoying the deathroller and the knight in particular.

As ever, I've been quiet between posting my proof and finally tonight getting my finished photos taken. Deathwatch Corvus Blackstar. Nothing particularly special from me this month, largely tried to just recreate how it looks on the box art:

I'm sorry to do this, but I'll be pulling my stompa out of the contest. There's no way i'll be done in time and I rather than put something in that's half finished.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I'm calling my entry finished. The latest painted unit in my blue-and-yellow Tau army, an XV8 Crisis Battlesuit Team:

Far from my greatest work, but adequate for my army's needs. The weapons are fully magnetized; I wanted to showcase a variety of weapons to show how versatile a Crisis team is. The Cyclic Ion Blasters are 3rd party bits from Red Dog Minis and are available as single weapons or the twin-mounted ones, hence why I did one of each (for a suit with 3 of the weapons). There are some pretty awesome entries in here so far, and it looks like there's more to come before the end of the month, so it should be another fun voting thread when this is done!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I'm with you there Stormatious. Especially when you take them and they look good on the camera, but not so good blown up on screen, and then you gotta re-set up the lightbox or wait for the right light conditions outside.

Probably not gonna get the chariot done--got a base coat, but I've determined the whole setup is ugly and not going to work. Do have a cannon I started a couple weeks ago almost done, going to try switching to that, and post proof pics in a bit (before the deadline), if that's okay?

Oh no wait **** me I lied, stupid phone didn't save the stupid proof pic again! Guess I'm just out.
