Yes,certain avatars have just become the "face" of the poster..Gits ork,Melissa's SOB..My Captian Spaulding...if we were to change them I believe we'd "get lost" in threads for a while.

Exactly.  ...there are dozens of Dakkaites that I identify by their avatars and when they change I completely lose them for a bit until I figure out that they've made a swap.
When H.B.M.C changed his avatar to a "Gone fishing" sign ( this was a while back),I completely lost track of his posting for a bit.

And...I wouldn't call your photo "hipster",however it does put me in mind of the type of pictures one might see in "Teen Beat" or other types of magazines aimed and 12-16 year old girls.
