For some time, I have been confused by people banging against GW. OK I know some of the sculpts are .........dodgy, but in general they produce a fantastic product, especially when you consider they are game pieces, not true display model kits.

Having said that, the new stuff just keeps getting better.

As to Gore-Al, would not be so funny if it was not quite so close to the truth. Global Warming is a pup we have had rammed down our throats, and is completely a "get rich quick!" for the older generation who will not have to pay the real price when it hits the fan!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Hey don't worry about us... Normal grey and dreary service will resume and then we'll all go back to moaning about how miserable we are and it's all the fault of the Brexiters / Remainers (depending on your political point of view).

Problem we have in the UK is that the heat only lasts for a few weeks of the year, so air con in a normal residential abode is not cost effective. We make do with desktop fans, ice packs and tiny kids paddling pools...

Working on that Vik!

@ruglud - This blog has always been down for whatever

It's been a busy week so far, as far as "other crap that keeps me from the hobby" but here are some pictures to sate you.

Some of the objectives together

This still needs work

I've got list making to do, and PAINT SOME MORE DAMN TANKS!

I found a way to make the BEST white paint. The kind of white paint that maintains it's opacity and pigment, even when thinned down to the point of glaze. It's superior to every other hobby white paint I've ever tried.

It's quite simple and cheap. I'm using 50/50 mix of Hobby Lobby's store brand tube Titanium White Acrylic (Titanium white has the best concentration of fine pigment and SUPER CHEAP $5 for this lifetime supply tube), Golden Airbrush medium. Then once that is mixed 25% water. I have a tube of permanent black and I am going to try the same (can never have enough shades of black)

And last Saturday, I was walking into the record store when I found this little guy wandering around downtown

Looks to be a full-blooded Jack Parsons Russell Terrier. He clearly has a family, but no subdermal microchip (standard practice in this city), and no ID tags or collar. He was well-mannered, nails and ears were well-maintained, but he was unneutered.
We got him to the shelter, and as of yesterday, no one had claimed him yet. We may adopt him to be Bean's new friend, after he gets the old snippy-snippy, and they meet to see if they get along.

So there, we an talk about GW, Scratchbuilding, Imperial Guard, list-making, hate for Marines, acrylic paint, or dogs

Do your tanks fit under the walkway?

Cute dog, hopefully he and beans get along. Now as for a Name......Pork is the easiest choice. But since this one came second and is white.....mostly......I say Rice. So you'll have beans and rice.

Beyond the Beltway

Theo, tanks fit wherever they want.

That's a fine looking JRT. The American Kennel Club calls them Parson Russell Terriers. Most JRT owners that I know have naught but scorn for the AKC and still call the dogs Jack Russell Terriers.

If Bean is male, there may be problems. I know that with JRTs it is difficult --but not necessarily impossible-- to introduce a male JRT into a house with another male JRT. Also, the same applies to introducing a female JRT into a house with another female.

Be warned that JRTs have a LOT of energy. They are readily trained, and need the training to channel that energy into something productive. They need lots of activity. Otherwise, they can go over to the Dark Side. Teach him tricks. Maybe take him to not just obedience training but also the obstacle course training and that sort of thing. Whatever you do, do not wave a cat toy made of rabbit fur in front of him... well, maybe do it, but be prepared for him to go straight to 11.

I've had one for 14 years. They are great dogs, but they are not for everyone. Sort of like Border Collies. You've had a Rat Terrier for a while, so you should be able to handle a JRT. I hoipe it works out for you guys.

Frank, and Beans...

About the paint. Look into Liquitex soft body acrylics or Golden fluid acrylics for Titanium white. Or for the best yellows... with cadmium. Toxic but that just means no airbrushing and no brushh-licking. I've been using these for a long time. Excellent paints for mini painting. And the colors, and their names, don't change every few years.

Nah, Bean is a female Rat Terrier. I'm more worried about her being jealous. We'll see.

@Red - Arent the Golden Flows all translucent? or is there a set of opaques?

IF they get a long they´ll team up probably against the world...any living or dead matter if not...well...thunderdome...which is of course not a preferable outcome...in fact i still think there is someone searching for him...
as for name suggestion...bacon...beans...sounds better´n pork and beans...

love your shirt...i have the one that comes with the game still too^^...also...grey hair in beard already?...LOL...

the new objective marker set is everything...really nice models, and convincing ones even, and the price is a bargain...the bits look highly promising and show great use in all direction in my opinion...kitbashing will have these as their next best friend in no time...
my only downside idea here is that some pieces are meant for indoor usage...which is a bummer as mostly 40k or ´munda is an outdoor fun...so who would expect a dissection table around a corner or on a battlefield...?...see?

They're opaque. Here, a photo of a few. It's one coat on a black surface. As you can see, nice coverage. And the titanium white covers better than the zinc white. The differences I note between Golden Fliuds and Liquitex soft bodies is that the liquitex is thicker, and the Golden has more of a satin finish.

Of course, prices for some of the colors can be a bit eye-watering, due to the cost of the pigments used.

Oh, I forgot to mention that JRTS can be vocal. Fortunately, they do not have the yippy bark. They can bugle though, like a beagle. They actually have a nice range of vocalizations, come to think of it.

But is he a complex (carbohaydrate) dog, or just a regular laid back dog?

I'm turning 43 in a week and a half, you may see all the fireworks being set off in my honor , and I just started to get a streak of grey in the beard. But when I keep it decently trimmed you don't notice it.

Well Vik, for one, they dont make Tausept Ochre foundation paint anymore, but I still had some (it needed thinned, but it worked), an the green rattle can I used (I can tell by the rough texture on these) seems to match Vallejo Gunship Green. I never got the existing Leman Russes and Chimeras past the camo and edge highlight stage, so I should be able to get them all to the same stage, then finish them all.

I took inventory, I still have 4 chimeras (1 old style, 3 new style), 1 old style Leman Russ (the best style), 2 Hellhounds (1 old, 1 new style) unbuilt and several just primed. In 8th Edition, Battle Cannons are good again, so I'm gonna roll a trio of them

They redesigne it and the Chimera to fit on fewer sprues, but replaced all the subtle curves with sharper, mariney angles.

Update on the dog: Animal Care & Control did their behavioral assessment of the little guy, not good. He has issues. He is apparently very possessive and controlling about toys. They all belong to him, and he protects them, from people and other dogs. No matter how many toys they bring out, he hoards them into a pile and doesn't let anyone near. They say he has a tendency to wait until a person is walking away, then lunges to bite ankles. This means they do not recommend he be in a home with another dog. A single person with patience or a family without kids or other pets would be ideal for him.
