I think exalted or aspiring. I paint well but I've never made plastic junk terrain before. Its all new to me, the only serious terrain I've done is milliput dungeon furniture:

Ok so what would I be? Honestly I'm thinking like Chaos Cultist but I dunno.

I feel kinda stupid asking for clarification on this but, what are we making exactly? :-)

is it some drop down barricade/los blocker made from majority non gaming bits to use in game? and does it need to be ruined per se or can it be intact but still usable as a barricade?

I'm just asking so i can start working out what I can create from things i find etc. and so i'll have a clear view of what i need to make to do something that looks cool! :-)

Well now this looks to be an interesting contest and right down my ally time wise and size wise ..looks like lots of entrants ..looks like a lot of FUN to be had ..and gives me a reason to start a P & M Blog of my own

Not sure what level I'd put myself at, as my modeling skill's aren't too bad, but my painting's not great.

@ everyone- I want to thank everyone for working w/ me and volunteering categories.

@ GrimDork- Stick w/ Cultists. I think with some practice your work is going to improve, especially since you're being exposed to some of the best modelers I've seen on Dakka. Height is is not a factor so long as it can stand on the base.

@ Theo- Materials are outlined in the rules. You may use anything you like. I'd like to see models made from genuine junk like broken buttons and crushed bottle caps but n the end it is on your model and will be on your game table.

@ Camkierhi- Cultists? Really? I'm going to have to say NO. Aspiring Champion at minimum. Your Shrine placed as a contender in a LoER contest and with your overall skills could push yourself if you joined the Exalted category.

@ graven- Thank you.

@ Chelnov- You are welcome to join any rank you wish, but you qualify for Spawn based on my observation that you're a low post count and I cannot remember ever seeing you around.

@ MauS- Exalted.

@ weety- Aspiring please. I took a look at your scratch build milliput and it is impressive. And while do not post there very often I am very familiar with your 2nd Ed miniature work.

@ Dave- Agreed. Also, welcome to Exalted but you're #1 on the Lord list if I have to bump someone up.

@ Sanka- Aspiring Champion it is. You'll be offering some tough competition.

@ Gits- You sould have been in that category anyway. I would have been really disappointed if you went w/ Aspiring Champion.

@ Nerdfest x2- I'm requesting that you compete in the Lord. category. I do not know if you've ever been officially recognized through a contest outside Dakka but your work is very high quality and I'd like to see you compete at the highest level here.

You are making a pile of junk, preferable out of random stuff you might pick up on a sidewalk near a roadway or a parking lot or taken from your neighbor's recycle bin. 1:1 scale junk turned into 28mm Heroic Scale junk. It can be intact as a barricade if you wish, it is your model and it is your table.

@ Snrub- Cultists it is.

@ Meade- I'm going to request you compete in the Lord category. Your work is some of the best I have seen Dakka.

@ Desubot- Cultists is fine but feel free to step up to Aspiring Champion if you'd like to push your abilities.

@ Master Azalle- Welcome aboard. Feel free to join the Spawn or Cultists category. Let me know which please.

@ hk1x1- I'd really like to see you in the Exalted category. Your skill is unquestionable and you won the last LoER contest

@ Gits- You are making a pile of junk / debris. One thing I am looking for (though not required) is to have the junk made of junk. See my reply to Nerdfest if you missed it. Bottom line is that it is your model and going on your table so build it out of anything you like. I'm merely expressing ideas for the composition of the model, and am hoping people can find creative ways to not use a lot of GW or other prefab items.

@ daemonhunter187- Hey, glad to see you made it! Your trench terrain is really pushing me to the edge... if I start up a trench project I am so blaming you. Also, I think Aspiring Champion is where I think you belong.



I started writing this at 10:30 this morning between stuff at work so if there are omissions or weird edits please let me know. I'm making the most of the down time I have but today was not a great day for that (9.5 hrs later for 1 post, ha)

My next task here is to compile a list of contestants and their categories so I can update the contestant list so we'll all have an idea of who is competing against who. If anyone would like to take on that task and PM me or post it here I would be grateful.

Guess I had better come clean, since someone is bound to point it out sooner or later. I think I had better go Exalted, since I have won 2 comps and placed in 3 others, though my last couple failed dismally.

Not that I think I am up to that standard by a long ways.

IMPORTANT Category update- due to having been shown thew error of my logic 3 times now I have decided to remove the Chaos Spawn category completely. The last 2 people that have PM'd me have turned out to be highly skilled and while I thought having a Spawn category would bring people out of the dark it's obvious that this contest in itself is doing that and people should be competing against their peers of similar skill.

Everyone that was previously in the Spawn category please pick a new category. If you are unsure and have examples of your work available I will help you choose appropriately.

Well you can place me in Lord category then, If there is a golden daemon level painter that blows me away, so be it! So I am wondering who I will be competing against there...?

A few guys so far, and I think you'll stand pretty well with anyone that is in that category. I'm not asking you to compete there out of random happenstance.

I do have one question, sorry, Green stuff? Can we use it, I know it can not count as junk, but honest I just found 5 ft of the stuff lying around in the bin outside!!!!!

Brian, in my opinion, from a building perspective... you're an Exalted Champion... at least. Painting-wise probably an Aspiring Champion.
