The line is still thin, but getting longer.
51" painted now.
5 modules + the gate.
Really happy with how the gate and the walkway came out.
Still more to go!

No, it looks really cool. Can you still buy the Imperial Bastion these days?
Are you going to weather it in any way?

More guns are on the way! Just heavy bolters though, all the big guns are done. I'm playing with some sort of flamer/heavy bolter gatekeeper bunker though.
Alas the Bastion is OOP, when it came back for MTO last year I went a bit nuts and got 9 of them, I've had this in mind for a while and figured this was the last chance.
After painting is done it'll get 5 gallons of brown ink... Probably. or I'll do what I always do and hit the 80% mark and more on.

And...
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
I wanted a 6' long wall, I got 6'5"!
Of course if/when I use it it will probably be in an L shape, still a respectable 5' long.
And it won't be alone either, I'll throw in my Fortress Precinct and bunkers at well.
Still lots to do, gaps to patch, weathering, missed details and so, so many skulls to paint. But am I happy? Yes very. Next up will be an army shot.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And it fits in a box!
Well not the tower anymore, but it's wood and heavy so probably best not to store it with the breaky plastic walls.

A bit late for Halloween but this week's project was 50 (!!) Mantic zombies (from a box made to produce 40 )
I kept it simple, just the zombie sprues, sprue rubble and putty.
Not too many people know this but every zombie sprue comes with a Celtic cross headstone for your bases!
If you've not seen it, the Mantic zombie sprue was one of their first from 2010 and well, very limited. 3 bodies, 3 legs, 6 heads and one 'bursting' base and another 'just the spine' body. So you can get 3 zombies out of it, 4 if your standards for what counts as a zombie aren't too high.
It was fun but not sure I ever want to do it again!

Got a good day of painting in. The first infantry sized models I've painted in over a year.
Black prime, brown base, white rags.
I was worried for a bit they were looking like Indian laborers, but the green ink changes things.
Next up blood. So, so much blood. Automatically Appended Next Post: And after some time with my red paint...
Yeah more could be done or could have been done, but I am happy.
Just have to make sure I never do this again...

With the zombies done I started on the Storm Giant Queen from Reaper. A kickstarter exclusive I got off ebay.
She's a big lady.
Assembly is fairly straightforward except for her enormous, full and heavy set of... hair.
Took me forever to figure it out and finally found a useful image, you have to assemble an extra set of clouds behind her and then slot the hair into some tabs in her armored Greek skirt thing.
Needless to say I'll be going in another direction...

Guess I'm making some terrain this weekend huh?
That's an Empire Fortified Manor (great fun kit), a Lizardman step pyramid and LotR ruins which I've not painted in literally 16 years.
All will be for 40k of course.
That's just how I roll.

Empire Fortified Manor, a fun kit with a lot of characterful extras.
After some 40k greebles it gets a communications tower, 4 heavy bolters and EVEN MORE SKULLS.
I figure it's the home/office of some low-level regional administrator parked out in the middle of nowhere with nice house, a few guards and a lot of work to do.
So that's 1 of 4 terrain projects primed. What to do next?

Works in progress...
Statue of the Emperor Triumphant/Reaper Storm Giant
Statue of the Selenite Queen. Worship of her has gone out of fashion in recent millennia but traces of the Selenite cults are still found on backwater worlds.
Renedra's ramshackle church with a bit of 40k bling. Great characterful model.
Fortified Manor being painted.
Realmshaper Engine, overpriced for what you get but it's a nice model. I'm leaving off the coruscating energy bit so I can swap in statues, death rays, crystals whatever.

So long as I'm going through my Bastion leftovers, the Mordian IG are getting some Laser Artillery.
Try as I might I could not find enough metal lascannon crew for it so they'll just get normal artillery crew
It's a nice match for my Tallarn artillery crew.

Thanks for the kind words! Now for Terrain Project 3 of 4!
Lord of the Rings ruins are a great, great kit.
I first painted some up back in... geeze 2010, and well, I guess I liked them.
They are super generic, they can be part of any fantasy game, historical or sci fi, yet have a lot of character. I decided I would still customize them for 40k though, if only I could think of something to add...
Oh yes, skulls.
And some makeshift barricades in the archways so they can be used as cover.
The kit also comes with rubble piles and statues that give me another 15" of cover. They're a bit low, but do the job. Good kit, I recommend it.

And the last of the terrain projects, a second tower for the Thin Blue Line which will help balance things.
Reminds me I need to get some more Maelstrom's Edge terrain sprues.
And that's this week's modelling up on the roof for priming.

Oh GW, oh my GW, who exactly told you that an artillery crewman needs to be in 7 parts?
And despite being in 7 parts it's still monopose?
You will never convince me this could not have been a 1-part figure, 2-4 parts tops.
Not a great burden if you have to do one, but when you're doing a minimum of 6...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Another statue for my ruined temple, the Selenite Queen of Sacred Luna.
Her worship is not exactly heresy, but can considered heresy-adjacent. Just be sure not to use the phrase "Goddess Empress of Womankind" and you're usually OK.
Am I the only who thinks this family needs a third member to be complete?

Nice progress on the fortifications and statues! I love how you used imaginative ways to extend the initial wall with corners and a few other things.
I do agree with you on the lots of parts for the crew and other new infantry from GW, it all ends up looking so repetitive if you build more than 2 or 3 despite being having lots of different parts.
I was really put off when I noticed that the new vox operator from the cadian command squad has part of the radio equipment attached to one of the legs :|
Now I wish I had bought a few more of the previous command squad for conversions and similar stuff.

Counts as a SoB Immolator or IG Hellhound. I imagine it sprays some sort of riot foam but in extremis it can fire burning napalm instead.
