Stop this awesome diorama building madness at once, you are making the rest of us look bad!
Really loving the walkers though, they remind me of beefed up sentinels.

Thank you guys!
I really, really appreciate all of your feedback.
And you're the ones making these 50 pages possible
KingAzog wrote:
Well, maybe the surrounding battle made too much noise
Just envision they are at the other end of the "Ghosts in the Rubble" scene, and I can imagine they'd be a tad...preoccupied
But to emphasize a bit more on the surrounding battle, I decided to add another two Orks that are also firing into the direction the gun is pointing - and I will add a barricade (or roadblock) here too.
One of the key ideas for this whole diorama was centered around this corner building.
I wanted to have an Ork with an RPG up there, but before he can fire, the rocket launchers on top of Castor are firing his way, he he bails out, and jumps off the balcony.
So here is my first take on the jumping Ork
But I realized, this doesn't look good, too upright, not Orky enough.
So I changed the Ork to a "squat turn" style jump...
Together with the German soft cap, I think he looks great
All I need now, are the rockets flying his way
And finally it was time to add some Imperial troops to support the two walkers.
Last week I got my hands on some Statuesque Mini female heads ( http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/8774376/sma012-heroic-scale-female-heads.html ), and so I decided to build at least one female trooper.
Together with Mad Robots fatigue arms and legs ( http://madrobotminiatures.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_18&products_id=46 and http://madrobotminiatures.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_21&products_id=72 ) this makes an awesome mini, doesn't it?
Next I built a Sniper, that will be walking behind, in a kind of over watch.
The Sniper rifle is from the IG Command Squad sprue, the legs are Mad Robots fatigue, and the head is a Mad Robot Special Ops head.
And here are all actors assembled.
This one here will be facing down the road though...
Two female troopers in the center
and another trooper on the side.
The pipe thing will be a burning barrel (so some flame and light effects)
Last night I finally did some green-stuff work closing gaps and adding knee protectors and small shoulder armor.
So now I have do final cleanup of mold lines and then creation of the cinematic effects for the astray RPG, the rockets off Castor, the rifle fire from the female trooper, flames for the barrels, and maybe fire from the two Orks on the right...
So, what do you think?
I look forward to your C&C
Cheers
Klaus

Great work as expected .
The female figs are great, not just guys with boobs
I think you could reason th orks didn't hear things approaching due to the loud fizz snap crack zap noises of the big gun. Besides they have plenty of boyz covering their flank that no one could get near them

The amazing thing is that just when you think it cant possibly get any better......... it does!!! Each dio after the next is just great! The detail level is something definetly to aspire too!
Really cool..... and those supporting Imperial Troopers are a really nice addition to the mix!
My personal favourite is the "Leaping Ork"! Cool!

Hi all,
I finally managed to add some armor to the two walkers.
These "shields" now cover the armpit area.
It leaves me room for some heraldic or free hands too.
xXWeaponPrimeXx wrote:Everything looks awesome, but I have one question.

Well, I think it is only the perspective (at least I hope so).
So here are some more images of SGT Jane
Last night I also started to work on the cinematic effects.
Sorry for the really blurry image...
In the front right you see the twin flash from the one Ork twin machine gun, and in the right rear a first test for one of the rockets fired by the Castor.
Speaking of rockets.
Here is the creation of the RPG effect for the one fired by the wounded Ork in the manhole.
As you can see, it's not flying straight, but rather going astray.
Once I was pleased with the actual "flight pattern" and added PC to the wire, I started to pull with the pincers (see also http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.de/p/muzzle-flashes.html ) and this is how the final effect for the RPG looks.
Some more cleanup (mainly mold lines), some more effects for the other rockets fired by Castor, and then I should have it
I hope you like it and I look forward to your C&C.
Cheers
Klaus

Be aware that that's not supposed to be skintight fabric. In fact, I think it's supposed to be rather baggy, and is.
The only issue here is whether or not the length is propper.

Hi guys,
as Anvildude clearifies, we're not looking at a Xenia or a girl in a sexy outfit.
We're looking at a female soldier, wearing protective body armor.
If you look at the these two images, you know what I mean:
(Member of Female Engagement Team (FET) U.S. Marines Cpl. Reagan Odhner from the1st battalion 7th Marines Regiment takes position during a patrol with Afghanistan National Army (ANA) soldiers in Sangin in Helmand Province on June 6, 2012. (credit: ADEK BERRY/AFP/Getty Images)
And this is pretty exactly what I tried to model here. I'm absolutely pleased with SGT Jane
As promised here is the image showing the barricade blocking the road on the right side, and providing cover to the Orks turning the gun, as well as the two heavy-weapons Orks.
I was very eager to see how my cinematic effect for the rocket would look...
So I tried it out last night.
Woooohooo!
I like it!
It looks like the rocket is arching its way over to the building - just what I wanted
Since I want the launcher to fire a salvo of 4 consecutive shots, I sculpted another 3 effects in different lengths last night.
The other effect I wanted to see in action was the astray RPG:
With the missile attached
I like it, but in the current position it is flying directly into the gunners seat :-P
So I changed the flight path a bit to the left.
Now I hope this new flight path doesn't block too much of SGT Jane firing at the RPG gunner.
I will check this out tonight.
I hope you like today's update and look forward to your C&C.
Cheers
Klaus

All this rockets, fogs, fires and other pew-pew is what I like about your dioramas - adds so much action to the scene!
Great job! Gief moar!
PS:
I still consider the arm to be a bit longer than it should be, but whatever, it's heroic scale anyway

I totally agree with ishkatar the wizz bangs and smoke trails really bring it all to life!
Had a good look through your blog also..... answers to a lot of the questions i have are in there... great stuff!
One thing i would mention..... it is small and insignificant... but the shield on the Sword arm of the walker.(Polox)? It just looks to be a little thin for such a large shield...
Might just be the angles of the pics..... but the rest is perfect... and that ork firing the RPG made me laugh out loud in the office here! haha... great characterisation!

Thank you guys!
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY appreciate your feedback - it means a lot to me.
Well, final whistles and bells
The last cinematic effects cured and so I mounted the flying rockets...
Not glued in position, but you can see the nice arching effect...
aimed right at the evading Ork
At the barricades
A look form the other side
at ground level
and the final, final effect.
a small (growing?) flame from Pollux' fist
This completes the build of the diorama.
Next will be priming and then painting.
I hope you like today's update and look forward to you C&C, feedback, comments.

This is looking more and more like a real action packed scene, like someone just stoped time in the middle of all the chaos,
just to get a closer look at the action. Best thing is it looks like it's telling a story, which I think is the whole point of a diorama.
