Also pretty sure the PDF has been overruled by the current rulebook in several points.

I'm new to the game so did not know that about the PDF. I thought they had just released the version of the PDF that's on the site but I am probably mistaken.

As far as I know, the only differences between the PDF and the hardback rulebook (for which they have promised a free PDF, but it has yet to materialise) a clearing up of the translation, a change to some of the objectives (Riddles work differently, Safe Boxes were introduced) and a few minor rule tweaks. For playing among friends, the PDF should be fine.

It's more than just tweaks, some things were outright changed. As you said it's fine as long as everyone is playing with the same rules, but know you may be playing some things just plain wrong.

The Hot Wheels version of the AK Batmobile looks pretty good. I'd wager the prices will be similar. Funny enough, I've been shopping Batmobiles for 28-32mm over the last month or two.
A word of caution, if you are looking to the Hot Wheels lines for alternatives, the 1:50 ones are nowhere near 1:50 (the Batpod is) so go with the 1:43 Elite if you are going that route.

I really don't get the idea of an unpainted AK Batmobile, when so good alternatives are around...

New announcement from Knight Models. Their new line is theoretically the KM equivalent to Forge World. Also, full pic of their Arkham.

Due to the questions, guesses and predictions from the community following the reveal of Knight Models Legends this week, we would like to explain a little more about our new brand and what the future will hold for it.
Knight Models Legends was created with the idea of bringing the magic of comic book universes to our original product range. Iconic Buildings, detailed vehicles and even alternate miniature lines will all become reality with this new brand. We will be using different materials such as resin for many future releases as we would like KM Legends to be known for its superior quality.
The entire Knight Models Legends range will only be available in our online store, so we thought this would be a great time to combine it with the release of an entire new website design. One of the first new products you will find on there after launch will be our alredy famous Arkham Asylum.
We hope you are as excited by this new project as we are and we promise that this will be a VERY special new year at Knight Models. All of this is thanks to you, the fans!

We're still wondering that about Arkham Knight.

Oh snap!

No seriously, the Batmobile in that game was awesome, but there was just too much of it.

Yeah there was too much forced batmobile use which was the biggest problem.

Nice one! Perhaps they'll introduce new Riddler objectives that require you to play a totally random racing minigame to get VPs? Or how about a rule that items that up until now have been easy to destroy with Explosive Gel now require you to use the Batmobile cannon.

Or perhaps they'll just add a 1:100 scale tank battle as a side game...

Yeah, I'm not putting a price on it until we've actually seen the complexity/size/quality of the model. Going on what it 'should' be like based on the game's design and size, I'd probably put it in the £25-30 region depending on how big/fiddly it ends up being. But I'd love to paint one, so when it does come out I shall be open to negotiation...

To be fair, it appears to be HDF, like a lot of recent terrain hitting the market, with some metal gargoyles. HDF terrain doesn't tend to be super pricey for the size.

I actually would as well - it would make a fantastic board for Malifaux. Just don't put in the guard towers, and maybe make the entrance into a graveyard. It's got that warped Victorian look going on.

Heads up anyone planning on ordering this weekend, KM are throwing a free set of acrylic Scarecrow markers with any order made from their store between the 30th Oct and the 1st Nov:

They're going on general release in November, so you get them a bit earlier this way as well.

That's a nice touch. Though once you factor in shipping it might end up more expensive than just buying then Seperately on releases

Dear Customer,

Due to the increase in raw material costs, we must unfortunately raise the cost some of our miniature range.

We have avoided raising our prices for as long as possible, but we can no longer avoid it. A new Price List will go into effect on November 15th 2015. Any orders placed between now and 15th November will be honored at current prices.

We thank you for your understanding and hope that you will understand the necessity for this change.

Best regards.

Crap, so that is happening. I'd heard the rumours, but didn't want to believe them...

I appreciate costs do go up, but depending on the magnitude of the increase I might have to buy these far less frequently now. £11-12 is about the uppermost I'm happy to pay for a mini and these are already there, so we shall see...

I've heard 10% as the figure, but only from a poster on the BMG forums. That would pretty much wipe out the discount I usually buy at, which is very annoying.

That sucks. The models are already quite expensive, unless it's a very small increase I'll definitely be thinking harder about future purchases.

What are they talking about with respect to raw material costs?

Tin prices aren't unusually high at the moment.

They dipped pretty aggressively a few months ago, and are coming back up, but they're still low compared to five years ago.

And to be fair, the raw material cost is not terribly excessive when it comes to metal miniatures that you are paying more than five bucks for. There's probably less than a dollar of raw material cost in a model of that size. Spikes in the price of tin will drive that up, of course, but even if the price doubled (which is hasn't) you're still talking about $2 of raw material in a $15 model.

When tin prices go up, much more modestly priced models take a big hit in profit margin. When the COGS on a $5 model goes up by $0.10 or $0.20, that's a much larger percentage of the retail price.

Glad I already have a large collection but that doesn't sound good for future purchases/getting more people into it.

They are already rather pricey as it is.

Exactly. Which is why modest fluctuations in raw material costs should have a comparatively less significant impact on profit margin than for products that use same amount of material, but sell for a third or less.

You're paying for the art, the license, and the game when you pay $15 for a table top Batman miniature. You aren't paying for the metal.

Yeah the models are already expensive enough that many people are relucutant to buy them. It stopped me picking any up for a long time. A price increase isn't going to help that.

If they go up too much it will make GW's $30 CDN plastics look like a good deal... $5-10 more for GW over KM and you get a much better detailed miniature in most cases.

Most blister for BMG are available with a 10-20% discount from online stores as it is, so this 10% increase isn't going to make a massive difference.

I already pay £9.50 a blister, so I don't see it going much past £11.

Also, any wargaming hobby is a luxury hobby. It's all disposable income at the end of the day.

Don't forget the licensing fees that KM have to pay that GW don't.

And I would argue against GW having better quality minis. KM's miniatures are stunning, and worth every penny.
