NnNNNNNooOOOOoooOOOOoo.......come on this stuff is too good to waste on WH40K, please don't do it
To be honest, anyone buying Infinity miniatures is going to be a good thing for the company.....it's just a shame that it's not always associated with the game, still, sales is sales....I bet CB won't be complaining....or maybe they will.
I love this mini, and it's on my shopping list......how long before I crumble and start buying the complete list for Ariadna and Combined Army?.....I must hold out, a little longer.
Hehe sorry sorry, it's just that I hardly play anything anymore, just mostly paint and model. I am much more likely to break out one of my 4 40k armies than start a new game system all together
Plus, I probably put one of Corvus Belli's kids through college lust buying their models with the flimsy "Uhm... I will use it for 40k or =][=munda!" excuse, so I don't think they can complain too much!
Cool figures to buy (I i got a few recently) and now the holograms sheets used on the hackers can be downloaded for free! Lovely month from Infinity.

Hmmm, resolve breaking, might just say dang it and get infinity now. Aurelia said she'd try Haqqislam, I'm umming and arring over Aleph, Nomads or Yu Jing, maybe its time to give it a go.

Given other rather depressing announcements of late I'd say, hell yeah it is!
I'd recommend Nomads or Yu Jing as a good starter - Aleph, not so much. Save them for later, once you're a bit more familiar with everything...

Agreed, fireman is great ... though I want to give this month to Sr. Massacre too, and I tend to love every missile launcher Infinity dude too. Basically, it's a good month for badassery
Yeah can't complain with a 5 model release month, though Yu-Jing players got all happy thinking their TAG was a comin'

Yup, joined the Infinity folks this evening with a nice starting selection of figs and the main book. Nomads for myself, and Aurelia went with Haqqislam, so good times ahead.

Wow, with all the crap GW coming forth from them (price increase, switch to resin amongst other stuff.) I am seriously thinking about jumping over to Infinity.
My only issue is which army to buy?
I like Ariadna, both the Merovingian and Caledonian sectorals as well as Yu Jing and PanOceania (Military order and maybe the Acontecimento). Aleph is also pretty sweet.
If I went with the Merovingian's, I would want to include Mirage 5, if I go with the Caledonian's I would want William Wallace in there...
With Yu Jing, I would want the Oniwaban Ninja, cause he looks so boss, but I am not sure if I should go with a link team of Keisotsu's or Haramaki's? I wish they would release the O-Yori tag...sigh...
For PanOceania, I would mostly go with Military order sectoral filled with Magister knights and Order Sgts.
Does it matter which starter I pick? Are they pretty well balanced against one another?

Of similar importance, how much does it cost to break into the game? Looking at starting a force of nomads. How much would that run me? What all do I need to get started?

You can buy a starter force set for 40 bucks, which gives you 6 models. You can DL the rules for free which are 53ish pages long, or order the 200 page hardcover book for 40 bucks which has the rules, but also includes all the fluff for the game.
So to start the game, it costs 40 bucks. I am sure you can just buy 3 models and just fudge about for a little less money, but I'd just go with a starter set personally.

Let me paste here this, because I think it will be useful for you.
BuFFo wrote:1) Is there a copy of the rules I can buy, or are the rules all downloadable?
You can Download the complete PDF rules for free in the official Infinity website.Use this link.
2) Also, is there a source book, or something, for each faction that lists their fluff, units, etc?
You can buy the rulebooks. Infinity has TWO rulebooks.
The First one, Infinity the Game, contains all the fluff from all the factions, all the rules and army lists.
The Second Book, Infinity: Human Sphere, is an expansion. It includes new troops, fluff and rules for all the existing armies, it brings the sectorial armies and a brand new army: ALEPH
EDIT
The difference between the books and the free PDF is that... the free rules are just the strictly necesary for playing, the books come with art and fluff. The infinity background is very detailed, some factions are much more than the miniatures. Its HUGE.
3) Lastly, what is a good sized game for someone to learn the game with, like, how many models/points would a beginner need to get into the game? I am looking to buy figures for me and a mate, and would like to know what to get to make that happen for our first games.
I´ll recommend you both to buy starter packs, they come with 6 miniatures and that is enough for the first games, around 125 pts. Tournament games are about 250-300pts wich are usually 10-16 miniatures.
There are plenty of starter packs in the Infinity range, usually two per faction.
I´ll recommend using the quickstart rules and starter packs for beginning.
Also... Beasts of War made an awesome Infinity themed week and they made videos showing the rules system.

Okay, so you're getting me interested. Other than being a completely different system, how does this compare to Necromunda?

This one will be supported by the company that created it...
Bazinga!
Some models are amazing (all models pictured on this page for example), but then a couple of duds are squeezed in for good measure. One example is the Veteran Kazak that looks like a stringed puppet (maybe you know which one). Overall, PanOceania appeals to me the most, but all factions have their fair share of cool units as well. I haven't tried this game yet, but people who have (very few) seem to like it.

I agree. The game came out on 2006 or 7. The earliest models are clearly the least accomplished...
.
First generation Nomad box
though still perfectly acceptable compared to some modern GW offerings.
The latest Infinity figures are astonishingly good.
Price wise, the Infinity models were quite challenging a couple of years ago, thanks to the strength of the Euro. The latest massive GW price increases make them look reasonable again.
Apologies if this has been answered recently, but any ideas if they are going to do another half price promotion any time soon? I missed the last one but would love to get in if there is one on the horizon...
