Wow, I'm loving Flinty's turrets as well. Solid-looking shapes, and it all fits together well. Nice job.
What do you use them for? You mentioned they're deployed in a 'Terranwing', but I haven't heard of that before.

Thanks. The base is a trimmed down Tau drone, and was the fiddliest thing to get right as I needed to smooth down a portion of the top of the drone. The flamer is a land speeder heavy flamer, the RFAC is a Dark Angels land speeder assault cannon with a trimmed down Guard autocannon barrel. The gun shields are from the Guard HW kit. The stand they are on is a trimmed down teleport homer from the Terminator box. The random fiddly bit on the back is a Tau grenade pack thats there just because there is a similar bit on the SC2 versions

I've been doing a homage to Starcraft 2 through the deployment of a heavily themed Deathwing army, hence Terranwing. P&M blog here.

Excellent, valuable chapter relics to be recovered. Definately more interesting (and noticeable) than tank traps Now do the hard bit and get them painted

Thank you for the compliment sir. For the teleport homer/vox caster I am going to try the new GW texture paints. The field expedient chapel I was thinking sand, static grass, and tufts of vegetation. I love my local model railroad shop...

Hmmm... posting pics when you have these completed? I was considering getting some of the new stuff from GW, but just haven't been able to force my hand yet...

I will do so sir. I am going to try and lay down some thin masking tape to act as an expansion joint, try and make it look like tarmac/concrete, as well as try to leave an oil spot. Pictures will be forthcoming, hopefully by Saturday AM US time...

I believe the rules are the objectives cannot give cover, and are not considered area/difficult/dangerous terrain. AFAIK they are essentially holograms

As promised here is the based marker. I used the GW Astrogranite texture paint, with Tamiya masking tape for the expansion joints. Overall I found the process to be quick and painless, easy, and perfect for a "quick and dirty" basing. To finish, I washed with Nuln Oil then dry brushed with Codex Grey. The pictures aren't the best, but you can get a good idea of how it looks.

Looks good. I also managed to shake off apathy and put some paint on my objectives over the past couple of days. I'm even happy with the yellow, even though it was a pain

And a smidgeon of half assed OSL for kicks (it actually looks better in the photo than in real life...).

As you can see it's all the usual suspects, The rifle in the ground with a helm on top; A box of ammo...with a helm on top; a box of ammo and a jerry can with a lasgun resting on it...with a helm on top; Some jerry cans and a box of ammo (no helm on that one); And the...not sure what you call that act but you see it alot in old war films with a helm on top

This is what I use as my home objective, or as the Regimental Standard.

Does he have a writ from the commasariat stating he is human? Nice stuff, well helmeted. The "mystery" formation of rifles with a helm on top is called a stack (or that's what we called it anyway.)

It's a Rifle Stack, although we call them Stove Pipes sometimes.
Always use the helmet on those, they bloody well fall down next to it otherwise!
All of them are looking nice though!

Hey folks, whats the point of an objective marker?

Ive been modelling 40k for a couple of years off and on... i dont play the game or ive never really bothered with the rules, but the objective markers look cool to make as anything goes really.

Is there any size requirements or anything i should know before making them.

When you can't see the drunk guy at a party, you should look for the nearest mirror.
