I used the old style black ink as that dries really shiny, gloss varnish should do it too obviously..

Thanks guys, That's pretty much the opinions I needed. I was thinking along the lines of a white highlight on the larger areas, and then hitting it with gloss. Just wanted to see what others thought. My thoughts though, are with the lhighlights, I won't do a drybrush, just extreme highlights. We'll see how it turns out.

Also, I did her hair! (that sounded odd...)

I was kind of going for this look for the hair:

The hat is still a tad high, but I think I'll leave it. I like the look of the hat, and I'd probably just screw it up if I changed it.

There are still plenty of small details to add, but for the most part, she's where I want her to be.

I'm hoping I can get her done, and painted before my second child is born...just weeks away at this point...as I don't see me having the time to do much afterwards.

C&C on the hair and anything else appreciated! Thanks!

If you want to shorten the hat, I'd just cut out that cylinder between the brim and the rope. That's the bit that most Commissar hats would not have, actually. Also, flatten the brim a tad, so it's pointing out more than down.

Sweet hair! I like how it turned out. She definitely let loose a bit. And I think Anvildude's spot on with that suggestion.

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Just a small update, but it really improved her hat I think. I shortened the hat! I need to smooth out the brim a bit, but it looks loads better. Thanks for the suggestion Anvildude!
I also added the belt loops to the back of the coat, my 2 year old monster wouldn't go to sleep last night, so I didn't have much free time, or I would have done more.
I'm not happy with the belt loops, I will have to have another go at them.

Not much left to do, but I'm not too worried, I have until the end of the month to finish, and then the end of next month to paint her, so I feel ok about it.

Any futher critiques are welcome!

Ok now the hat looks good. The model as a whole is actually looking really good. I gotta see her painted up though.

AARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

I am so mad right now I could spit!!!!

I JUST found this mini from Raging Heros, and she is basically what I was looking for in the first place, and not finding it, made my own.

I know, I know, at least I have the experience to look back on and blah balh blah...

But this one is perfect!

And she can be found here:

Well, thank you. (also thank you to those that posted before my rant!) And to be honest to myself...it was alot of fun to sculpt it, I'm glad I did it... but Dang!

Anyway, I figure I need to work on the lapels (add a seam to the edge), same with the front panels of the coat, re-do the belt loops, add cuffs to the arms, and add the hangy-downy part of the sash...

Then...*gasp* painting? So soon?!?!

When I saw the first few pictures I had my missgivings, but man by the end you really impressed me. I am not normally a fan of hooker armor, but this ones looks pretty damn good and you came ALONG way with it, far better then anything I could do.

And that is kind of a burn finding that mini so close to being done, but hey would you have finished it if you had found it earlier?

I will be honest I was aware of the mini and was going to mention it but thought if you saw it you would start sculpting yours more towards that style or stop altogether and just buy it.

I think yours is loads better and has a lot more personality. Plus its going to be the only one of its kind which makes it very special as it was made by yourself.

Just wait for her to hit the gaming table and I'm sure you will gets loads of people asking where you bought her from

Looking forward to seeing her painted up.

Wow, thanks everyone for your kind words and support! And GiraffeX, you are a sly dog huh? You are of course, most likely correct, if I had seen this one, I would have bought it and not made or finished my own, and I would not have learned a great many things about sculpting! So I am glad I started, continued, and (almost) finished my own sculpt, even if I cheated a bit with the head.

And @ Sckitzo, Hooker Armor! I love it! Does that add any bonuses like carapace armor?

Thanks again all, I hope to finish before the end of the weekend!

And maybe get some paint on her?

Yeah, don't worry about the what if of finding the other model earlier! Your custom model has a ton of character, and looks really good. Especially as a Chaotic Commissar. I think your model is much more fitting indeed. Though, you might as well get the other model too. They are both damn sexy!

Great job on that hat, btw, that definitely fixed that issue.

Check out my Project (B)log! I would love any suggestion or comments you may have.

Love your mini, its totally awsome and it has everything you could ask for as a female Commisar. Now all you need now is an all female Rough Rider unit called "The Pinks" and your ready for the battle feild.

Thanks again guys! I will most likely get that other Femme Commissar at some point, she's not too spendy. Female Rough Riders, huh? Sounds dirty! And I also liked the comment a while ago about making a Tank Girl! I have my work cut out for me! HAhahaha!

Sckitzo wrote:

That'll work!

No pics today, I did work on her, but only early this morning, and I ran out of time, so I didn't get pics. But I got the belt loops fixed, the hangy downy part of the sash, the heel on one boot done, the piping on one lapel, and the cuffs on her coat sleeves.

So, left to do are the heel for the other boot, the other lapel, attach her CC hand, and add bits and stuff to her base. Oooo! I should add pockets to her coat! I'll look into that. Other than that, she's just about done! I might even get some paint on her by Monday! Who knows!

Thanks again for the encouraging words and support in my time of mental crisis!

Also, does anyone know how to get the vaseline off of her without scrubbing? I did bit of scrubbing last night with dish soap, I got some of it off, but I also loosened some pieces I had to then glue back on, and I don't want to lose any pieces.

Thanks all, pics on Monday! I promise!

A soak in simple green should remove any petroleum residue

Try just soaking her in dish soap, without scrubbing. Rinse, and repeat- that should work for you, I think, since the soap will dissolve and bond to the oils in the vasoline, and then should rinse off.
