I started the Shin Guards and finished the magnetization (sp?) of the front toe guard. The front is the only toe guard magnetized so that the detail underneath it can be painted easily:







These kinda look like crap to me all up close like this.

@sum1thtdiesalot I made the hydraulics and toe guards shorter on purpose. I want a more stunted look to the lower leg. Kinda like the huge feet on some comic book heroes. I like the disproportionate look and it makes it look more bottom heavy then the real one. It is also just a little biiger round in the shin guard, too, for the same reason.

I didn't get the trim for the other side of the right shin guard or the left shin guard put on tonight but tomorrow I will finish both sides and the Knee guards. Most likely will be doing the front and back codpieces, as well.

The magnetization of that shin guard was a nightmare and it took three hours to get a good looking design. Please leave your feedback because it is not too late to redo them.

The real one is just about that as well if you see it in person. I really need to get off my duff and finish mine

well i really like the chinguards... i thought... how the heck did he get them so nice rounded... because you started them flat right? i can only guess the amount of swearing to get this all "wrapped" up the way it is now... and then you magnetized the whole schtick even... by the way... why so?

I really like the design of the chinguards. I don't see any reason to redo them at all.. As the creator you always see the mistakes and irregularities that noone else does!
So I say leave them the way they are, They look great!

But I got a question too. Are you going to make any more deatails on them? like an aquila in the middle or something? Cuz that would look even better imho.

Anyways.. keep up the great work!

There are some more rivets that HAVE to go on, but there isn't any more physical detail that will go on these. The paint job may bring a lot more, though. The Knee guards have more detail on them, though.

The legs look fantastic. I thought the toe guards were the same part as the shin guards for some reason. Honestly they look awesome

Thanks, Sum, there is still a lot of detail to finish though and I am glad the Army is on half day schedules for the holidays starting today. Thats an extra four hours each afternoon that I get to work on this bad boy. The sooner this is done the sooner I get to start on finsihing the Nurgle Mars Warhound and Reaver.

What's your MOS? I was an 11b at Fort Hood, got out in 2009. I used to love those half day holiday schedules! PT, hang out and do basically nothing meaningful, go home. It was sweet

Rivets are time consuming. Here is what I have so far. I was hoping to have the knee guards and both Shins done today but I slept all afternoon. Ah, the glories of half day holiday schedule.





Whoo! That was fun. I truly hope that the detail work turns out. I am letting the glue cure a very good bit before I sand them down to an even thickness. I still have some to put on under the shin guards but then again I still have a large amount of detail to add. Well, more tomorrow.


I am hoping the shins look better painted.

with the addition of the rivets the leg gained a whole lot of coolness.... tho i mut say... for my taste i would put even more of them rivets inbetween the already existing rivets... also will you rivet up the sword-ish details on the shinguard?

Well, I need to relook them, but Yes there are lots more rivets that have to go on. The sword and toe guards in general haven't even been started yet.
