Does anyone else here simply not care about a gun's practical use? Am I the only ne who collects historical stuff just for the sake of having it/plinking a bit? I mean, I might at some point get ONE gun for self defense, but the rest of my collection will generally be old military stuff and the occasional target rifle.

I echo this, but more from a mechanical point of view, as in their operation, performance, and things like that. I find firearms to be incredibly interesting in their historical, social and political significance as well. My interest doesn't stem from a desire to protect myself, like a lot of people.

I like guns that make a statement too. In general, I'm not interested in building a collection of guns. I want a couple things to hang up, or stash in the closet, and that's it.

Yah your not the only person to tell me this haha. Last I checked though they were a bit out of my price range. When I come into money though I'm definately looking into it.

They're definitely not cheap, but if you do decide to pick one up someday, buy it from Crazy John. Just use the Google machine to find 'Crazy John 1911 Heaven'. It's a craptastic website, but you'll want to call him anyway. He's definitely a talker, but he beat everyone else by a good $300 for my Custom Carry. He stocks more Baers than anyone in the US, as far as I'm aware.

A lot of people do that. I'm not one of them, but I can see the appeal. I don't own any handguns that I couldn't/wouldn't carry.

In positive firearms news:

This twelve year old shot an intruder during a home invasion. This makes her a pretty bad ass little girl. No word on her stance but I like to think she used a proper weaver. Pity she didn't hit anything vital on the perp. Sure was enough to make him leave though.

To quote the old line about Colt revolvers "God created man and woman, Samuel Colt made them equal"
