One I will never forget: 4th ed. Tau vs SM I disembark my free drones off of a Devilfish. They then proceed to charge a 10 man decked out terminator squad. They kill 1 Terminator and take NO DAMAGE in return. Terminators then FAIL MORAL and I escort them off the board. Two free drones kill over 400 pts of terminators... good times... good times.

A unit of Seraphim blow up a transport containing a Chaos Lord and his bodyguard. Expecting them to die next turn, I use the act of faith that makes their save invulnerable. The Lord charges, daemon weapon swinging--
--and somehow when the dust settles, none of the Seraphim have died, but one of the bodyguard is killed. It gets better, as the squad fail their leadership check and flee, taking the Lord with them (the reason we gave was he was chasing them to personally punish them for their cowardice). The Seraphim chase them, and somehow wipe them all out.

2nd edition: My friend was running Tyranids. I was running Orks. I had set up an artillery battery of Ork hop splat guns. They fired a cannon ball with a chain attached, with another cannon ball on the other end of the chain. They used to bounce around and hit things until you rolled a misfire on the hit/misfire dice.
I set the artillery battery up on a hill with a very high rock face. My friend had moved his Genestealers up to the rock face and started climbing them. He had just enough movement to reach the top of the cliff face with one genestealer before he got one more turn and the game would end.
In my turn I spun the hop splat gun around (you could do that right before firing back then) and shot it at the Genestealer.
It flew forward, hit nothing, flew backward, hit the gretchin crew, I rolled a 1 to wound him, it bounced again and hit the other gretchin crew, I rolled a 1 to wound him, then it bounced forward and hit the Genestealer, and I rolled a 6 to wound him. It killed the genestealer, then flew down the hill, and bounced into a unit of tyranid warriors killing one of them too before it finally stopped bounching!
Everybody's face looked like this

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. Turn 3, my Killa Kanz assaulted a full squad of fearless Eldar who were without grenades or power weapons. They had kill my entire 20 boy squad within a turn.
I want to say they were Banshees, but from a search I did to make sure this story was 100% accurate I don't think it was them. After my Killa Kanz assaulted they killed one guy a turn locking them in combat. It wasn't a kill but it felt great that grots in tin cans could keep these guys occupied forever. He physically couldn't dent me but fearless kept him in combat.

A few weeks ago a Dreadknight with 3 wounds left assaulted my Eldar artillery crew of 5 Guardians. The Guardians killed it in overwatch.
Needed a 6 to hit, 6 to wound, and for the DK to roll three ones. The odds on that must be 1:1000.

5th edition, I raced a unit of Death Company with an attached Libby into my friend's Nightbringer (1st time facing a C'Tan) and the Libby killed him immediately (S10+force weapon). The NB, of course, detonates and wipes out the DC. No, my friend never informed me of C'Tan abilities.
Another game, Skulltaker went toe to toe with a C'Tan as well, and chopped the damn thing's head off. He was banished to the Warp due to the explosion too, but damn did he bring back a nice trophy. During that same tournament, he also claimed the heads of two carnifexes and a couple zoanthropes, so he had a good day. He died painfully to the CSM player though.

5th edition: 10-man Assault Marine against Crowe. Crowe attempts to cleansing flame, but did nothing to the squad. He used rapier strike, but only got maybe at most 2 marines despite rending on 4+. Str 5 thanks to Crowe giving furious charge to the squad that charges him. He failed one armor save before sergeant came in. Died after sergeant sealed the deal.
Also had Dante and his Sanguinary Guard squad wreck his Psybolt riflemen and two squads of purifiers as the game went on.
6th edition: Despite losing all my black knights and my bike librarian alive with barely 1 wound, Quad gun+aegis defense line+2 tactical squads pretty much held both points. The bunker killed a squad of warriors and a raider. The black knights killed another raider and majority of the Wych squad. The last black knight killed off the ravager with one hull point with his plasma talons. I felt bad that the bunker did better than I expected.

5th ed: I charged 5 TH/SS terms with 10 Rough Riders, killed all 5, cleanly getting off the objective. Next turn I shoot a group of Jumper marines with my 10 RR, they kill 6 and then the charge wipes them. Game went on to turn 5, my 10 RR finally charge his command squad with Maneus in it, they kill the command squad but die in the process. Probably the best thing I had seen in 3 years of using them, they would always die really quick.
6th ed: Charged the cheese that is DA Termies, 8 of them TH/SS with Belial, charged them with 10 nobs with Big Choppas, I hit with 18 hits, I wound with 18. =) needless to say that the impossible happend. All his termies died but Belial survived. He killed a nob the next turn then I finished him off. I still lost the game since that was my charge of glory with my last unit Automatically Appended Next Post: 5th ed: 30 gobbies with herders shoot and charge 7 GK palas, they killed all of them sustaining heavy casualties. I had 4 gobbies left with a herder, they died bravely the next turn against a LR

I can only remember a few golden moments, all of which during 5th Ed
1) Ironclad Dreadnought drops in to take on some Guardians. CC goes very slow since I can't seem to kill them fast enough. So my mate charges in his Wratihlord. In turn, my Ironclad turns around and promptly smacks the Wraithlord down in one turn. So he charges his Farseer and Seer Council, a couple armed with Witchblades. So the Ironclad whacks them down too. In the end I managed to kill the sodding Guardians. When the dread left combat he was the last unit alive and got a Fire Prism lance to the face.
2) Warboss with PK and other gubbinz charges a Dreadnought. Thanks to cybork he last's out the Dread's CC and rips holes in the Dread. Next victim
3) Lost a Commander in my early days of playing SM. My army was a mess at the time but regardless, I had a decked out Commander - 2+/3++ and all sorts. A Krak missile is fired at him. Now I did forget Krak was AP3 so I took the invun save. I got a 2 - Commander when boom. Shortly I remembered Krak wasn't AP2 and was AP3 so I should've got my armour save. So I rolled for fun to see if that would've saved me - nope, I rolled a 1. That model hasn't really seen combat since.

Another one against the same ork player, different game: His loota wagon with deffrolla rolled over an empty rhino, blowing it up, blew up the following rhino full of gh, and one of the hunter decided to death or glory with a melta gun, blowing up the as yet unhurt battlewagon and catching all but 3 of the full loota squad in the explosion.

I will never forget when in a recent game (my Salamanders vs. Farseer14's Eldar), I had been just about tabled by turn 5 of a single objective game. Then Vulkan decided to go HAM. Over the course of 4 turns (yeah we played it out until he died) he killed a Forgeworld Wraithseer, a pair of Wraithlords, a handful of Dire Avengers, some Wraithguard, and the Dire Avenger Exarch in a challenge. My personal favorite moment happened when Vulkan stood uncontested on top of the objective after killing the Wraithseer and Wraithlords and the Dire Avengers charged. The Exarch challenged him and Vulkan curb stomped him. 570 points of dead Eldar and 4 turns later, I was quite pleased the game and my opponent, who tabled me, was left shaking his head.

WAYYYYYYYYYYYY back in 3rd Edition: My BA are facing an BT Army. Throughout game play it worked down to two models left. He had one Dreadnought and I had one one SM left with a missle launcher.
For several turns we went back and forth. I barely passed my leadership test multiple times and was on the very edge of the bored. I kept immobilizing or blowing weapons off the thing but couldn't kill it. Finally I roll great and managed to kill the thing. I will never/and have never managed to roll that lucky again.

Hahahaha! Sounds like fun...and also a prime example of why the game has turn limits.

I've had my night scythe/doom scythe for about 2 months now, and it's the only Tesla destructor I have in my list. In all the games I've played with it, the only time it's successfully arced was onto a friendly monolith. Thankfully the arc wasn't strong enough to do any damage. This past Sunday however, that all changed in a game against Tyranids. Top of turn 5, I flew over a unit of gaunts and fired the destructor. 3 hits, 1 wound. Opponent failed his save, so I rolled to see if the arc would hit the nearby unit of gaunts... 6. Roll to see how many wounds: 6. Opponent rolls 6 saves, gets all 1's and 2's. 6 dead bugs, the rest fail their morale test and run off the table. Squad wipe with a Tesla arc!

My best kill was with using Lysander, after getting lit up by a six man squad of regular Grey Knights, he got into a scrum with a squad of six Grey Knights Terminators. After killing them he got charged by two Grey Knight Dreadnoughts, destroyed one, and destroyed the other only to be killed by the following explosion haha. It was an epic four turn battle.
Second best is an Imperial Fists Tactical Squad Sergeant who was the last man of his squad when he desperately charged both a Space Wolf Tactical Squad Sergeant and two marines who had a power weapon, and a Dreadnought. He got hit a whole heck of a lot of times but somehow nothing wounded. He was amazingly still standing at the end of the game. I put a Terminator Honours bit on that model after the game, he earned it.

I was playing against my fiance who was using her newly acquired Blood Angels. I rolled the first turn, and she failed to seize initiative. My Fire Prism exploded her Furioso in the first turn.
Second turn my warp spiders exploded her lanspeeder despite only 3 of them being able to shoot it and her getting a cover save from moving and being obscured.
She decided that we should start a new game at that point.

While still a noob I was playing IG against a veteran mate's SMs in 5th edition. He had an all eggs in one basket Land Raider Crusader w/ a Terminator Assault unit led by a special character but I can't remember which. Turn 1 my Leman Russ immobilised the Crusader. They had to get out and walk. By Turn 3 they were either dead or fleeing. Some awful rolls meant they continued to run right off the board.
The follow up game with the same armies included 'Jim the Invincible' a grunt whose already decimated unit was slain in a single round of combat by a unit of Assault Marines. He fled and survived, spending the last two turns of game play sniping Smurfs, killing one each turn while avoiding the fire of five bolters. He was deservedly crowned Man of the Match.
Won the first, lost the second but still lovely little events. Its a level of luck I've never duplicated.

3rd Ed - Avatar charges 8 Firewarriors. Kills 4. Firewarriors kill Avatar. 3rd Ed - Two Gun-Drones detach from a Devilfish and charge a Seer Council. They break the Seer Council and chase them off the table. The strange part? Both of these events occurred in the same game. The Eldar were pretty hosed at this point - the Avatar was gone and the Seer Council had left the Wraithgate at the edge of the table as they'd been run off the board before they could deploy it (it was the Ulthwe Strike Force list, for those that remember the days of flavour and alternative lists). And the Tau had done it in HTH, no less. Fun game to watch. Vehicles were the best part of 2nd Ed. That's why I was heavily inspired by 2nd Ed when I wrote the vehicle rules for Only War. Some of the critical damage results are directly inspired by the 2nd Ed datafax cards!

That is the only problem playing with the girlfriend/fiance/wife in a game like this. Things don't go well and they want to restart you have to say "yes dear" or find yourself sleeping on the couch.
Though big bonus points for getting her to play in the first place and for her to have her own army. Lucky devil that you are...
