3rd Edition: Squad of Guardsmen gets obliterated by a Space Marine Dreadnought flamer and a scout squad. A single plasma gunner is left standing. Next turn the gunner passes his last man standing test (3rd you had to take a test every turn at -3 ld (iirc) if he's the last man left of the unit.)
Passed, plasma gunner walked his happy way around dreadnought, shot at rear armor, destroyed the walker, next turn opponent dedicates a whole squad to his annihilation.

Good times.
Love those catastrophic super heavy explosions that leave massive empty spaces on the apocalypse table. Oh look your 30 assault marines charged the baneblade and destroyed it and it blowed up real good. Now go find yourself some new assault marines.
Skriker
No kidding. In our last Apocalypse game, our side won, but we lost both super heavies to Apocalyptic Explosion results, taking out damn near everything that was near them. I really shouldn't have parked mine that close to our objective! Doh!

In the latest game I played I had three absolutely incredible highlights to my match. 1) My 5-man Deathwing teleported to the field. Shot at and killed some tacs behind a barricade. Took casualties. Whittled down to 1 termie. This single termie then went on to single-handedly destroy a Dreadnought and survive the exposion. He then followed that by destroying a Predator and surviving THAT explosion. 2) My 3-man Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3 bikers) rolled around a ruin and began blasting at a tac squad. Ensued to destroy this tac squad as it's remnants fled into another. Pursued them and killed not only those who fled but the other tac squad too. Then revved across half the battlefield and took out a third tac squad guarding an objective before being laid low. 3) My Interrogator-Chaplain and his tac squad held an objective and survived a game's worth of combat from my opponent's command squad w/ captain and librarian, very big destructful unit. The sarge was the last to die, but my Interrogator-Chaplain survived it all and took out 3 command squad vets, the libby and his Captain.

6th edition: Final game of a local tournament. Last turn of the game.
Move my Daemon Prince up to protect the 4 Immortals sitting on his objective. Shooting phase: let loose with my 2 Annihilation Barges and wreck his Psyfledread, Tesla Arcs out and roll a 6 to hit my own Daemon. Roll a 6 for hits. 5 of the 6 wound. Made 4 armor saves and failed the last one. Daemon Prince dies (had one wound left). Still won the tournament, but that was a sad result for a model that was a champ for every other game.

I was participating the game, but oddly enough, it wasn't my team that killed it...
Playing an Apoc game, its 3K per player, 6 players. Anyway, one player brings a Reaver Titan out. Another player is using orks. Hilarity ensues.
I'm playing my IG, and I've been pounding this titan with everything I have with little to no effect. Return fire from the said Titan has been obliterating a platoon of infantry per turn. Its now game turn three and its their turn. The Ork player, on the same team as the Titan, is using an attack or something that if failed, opens some kind of rift that sucks anything within 6 inches into it destroying everything it touches. He had to roll a series of ones to get it to happen... and he rolls a series of ones. Came out to something like less than 1% chance it would happen. He just happens to be standing under the titan, right next to its one of its legs when this happens. Instantly, because a series of bad rolls a 2500 point TItan is sucked into the warp to never be seen again. I thought I'd see a grown man cry over a model for the first time ever. In the end we all laughed about it. Oh we finally won by the way...dang ole Titans.

5th Edition. Lady Malys is usually pretty useless against T4+ in combat, being only strength three. Apparently, someone didn't tell her this that game. She:
-Charged a unit of Genestealers, taking 1 Wound but killing 4. She then caught the rest in a Sweeping advance.
Next turn she was charged. She killed 3, took another wound in return, and then swept the rest... again.
Finally, it came down to Malys vs Deathleaper. Malys struck... kills Deathleaper, who was on full wounds. Deathleapers goes at the same time... kills her in revenge.
Total kills: 16 Genestealers - 224 points, and Deathleaper.
One day she will beat Abaddon in a challenge, it's just a matter of time.

I have several favorite kills:
The first one was finding my opponent's(one of my friends) Kharne the Betrayer out in the open(and by himself) and just within 48" of my las cannon devastator squad. I fired the squad at him and instant killed him. My friend still hates it when I reffer to las cannons as sniper rifles.
The other was having my friend's Kharne model broken off from a squad and Imotekh killing him with lightning.

Flower Picking Eldar Youth

5th edition:
I dropped my fire dragons with a wave serpent next to a land raider with five TH/SS terminators inside and blew it up(no casulaties). Opponents turn, the fire dragons are shot down by something else, and the terminators assault the wave serpent. It explodes and causes four wounds. My opponent rolls and gets four 1s.
This is the same guy that, on the first game in which he used his Emperor's Champion model against another friend's nids, the champion got assaulted by a squad of hormagaunts. There were four hormagaunts left, which were able to cause two wounds. At this point he says "well, the only way for him to die is if I get snake eyes". He picks up a box and rolls the two dice, and the look in his head was priceless when he sees that he actually had rolled snake eyes.
6th edition:
One of my first games in 6th, playing against marines, the only significant threats remaining were two dreadnoughts. I concentrated most of my heavy weapons on the closest and could only get one hull point off. I then remembered I hadn't used one of Eldrad's psychic powers, so I used eldritch storm which took another hull point and turned it around, and my dire avengers were then able to get the last glance by shooting the back armor. In the next turn, the other moves in to assault my wraithlord. Overwatch, the missile hits, penetrates, and it explodes

Was running the Assault Squad with attached jump pack Chaplain back when that unit was good, you could get Furious Charge from space marine chapter traits. Veteran sergeant with power fist. This unit is in a momentous combat with a Bloodthirster. The Chaplain and squad manage to get the greater demon down to 1 wound. I believe the Chaplain was killed. The sergeant swings last with his power fist and of course inflicts 1 wound. The Chaos player fails his save and by now of course a crowd had gathered around my table and erupt in cheer for the victory! This was at the GW.
Very inspiring. I imagine the sergeant activated his jump pack and just went for that kill shot on the demon's twisted skull for that last hurrah!

Generally, I find myself on the receiving end of these kills, I'm not bitter though because my 'deaths' I've suffered are amongst the funniest and best times I've had in 40k.
First and foremost, Brother Captain Stern. I played GK back before their codex updated, and for large games always tried to use good ol' Stern. He never did much for me, but he always had special ways to die such as the following:
Shot to death (along with 4 accompanying terminators) by a barrage of Grot pistols.
Beaten to death in melee by Grots.
Beaten to death in melee by gun drones.
Squig'd. And (I believe we got this wrong) we were in a scenario where units recycled. We decided that once the squig died, Stern could recycle. Squig dies, Stern comes back. And is squig'd again.
In addition, more recently my Saint Celestine has been having a hard time. Not to any opponent, mind you, but to the horrors of windows and walls. In one game, she was shot down to 1 wound when I rolled poorly to soak up overwatch fire. Seeking cover after the combat, I jumped Celestine and her girls into cover, where the Living Saint promptly smacked into a window and died. Next turn, Celestine rises to her feet with 1 wound remaining, jumps out of the cover and (you know where this is going) smacks into the same window going the other way and dies.

In 6th edition I had one group of sister retributers armed with heavy bolters kill 2 daemon princes of khorne. One was with rending during my turn. The other was by overwatch with his 2nd assaulting in. Much anger from my friend who already has confidence issues playing.
Not killed by my hand but we were playing 2500 points his chaos/CSM army epidemus list vs my sisters. Playing with artifacts. One was a huge giant purple.....crystal... Yeah that's it. Well epidemus deep strikes with about 800 points of units with him and scatters right onto the crystal. Artifacts being impassible terrain he rolls for mishap. Rolls a one. Epidemus got impaled by a giant purple... Crystal. Game ended quick with almost 1000 points gone on turn one.

Back in 5th ed watching my brother play his Orks vs. Blood Angels. Blood Angels had 5 Death Company plus Reclusiarch fully kitted out, Jump Packs, Power Weapons etc. Death Company fail to charge through difficult terrain, only needed a 4 or so, so they are sitting in front of a squad of boys. Orks fire 2 Rokkits at the Death Company, both hit, both wound, AP3 and instant death so no FNP. 90 points of dead Death Company. Orks then charge and finish off the rest.

All of my really well remembered kills are from 5th Ed.
1. I was playing as IG and had the commander from the CCS kill off a bunch of deffkoptas by himself.
2. I was playing my SW and had a Lone Wolf kill off 30 of the little tyranid guys (termagants IIRC) alone.
3. Same Lone Wolf from earlier killed off Castellan Crowe alone.
That is about all I can really remember fairly well.

My favourite to date wasn't a huge one, but it had a quality to it that I loved. It was a big multi-player free-for-all with the Black Templar, Space Wolves, Dark Angels (me) and Orks all having at it.
Around turn three my Deathwing Knight squad is engaged by a Lone Wolf. Being Space Marine uber-mensch of honour, he immediately throws down the gauntlet and my Knight Master gladly accepts the challenge, to relive the duel between Johnson and Russ.
The Lone Wolf is armed with dual lightning claws and wearing terminator armour. The Knight Master is armed with the usual flail. So neither of them can pierce the other's armour. The Lone Wolf is quicker, with more attacks at his disposal, the Knight is stronger and wounds with ease (interesting inversion!). The combat lasts for 3-4 turns as battle rages around them (the rest of the squad is engaged by Black Templar... but I will get to that later as it involves the other Space Wolf duel that game). The random turn limit keeps going and they keep fighting. Until he finally lands a telling blow on the Knight Master, who finally fails a save. But he has taken a wound as well. The whole table is holding their breath. The armour save turns up a '1'. He rolls FNP with another '1'. And so, in the failing light of the battlefield (Night Fighting set in during the last turns) both warriors fall to the ground. Manly cheers were shed, scotch was drank and epic songs were told of these two epic fighters who dropped everything to prove to their rival who was the best on the field of battle.
But this awesome success was preceded (in the same bloody game) by a fight that was equally epic in scope. You see earlier in the game (turn 1 in fact) one of my Deathwing squads was charged by another Lone Wolf. This squad contained my Librarian in it. Once more, the challenge was thrown down and like a true Dark Angel, I accepted. Force stave vs. twin lightning claws. They battled for several turns, each one was down to one wound. But then the honourless Black Templar rolled in and fired in to the melee (since it was a 4-way free for all we house-ruled this in). The Lone Wolf was riddled with shots from the LRC (and the squad inside it) and he finally failed that last save. His blood spattering over the face of the Librarian. The Black Templar wade in and issue their challenge (the Emperor's Champion is in the unit!). Still pissed in the extreme, the Librarian fires up his force stave, takes a swing and the Emperor's Champion's head explodes in one hit (one hit on a 6, one wound on a 6, failed save on a 1).
Let this be a lesson to all, never get between a Dark Angel and a Space Wolf when they are duelling. Neither take kindly to it and I'm sure we can all agree brains belong inside our heads.
