Deadzone. I got them from the survey for the second wave kickstarter shipment. I dunno why they wouldn't keep the molds around and sell them, but as of right now I don't think they're up on the Mantic website yet.

As always your progress is insane, how is it you can keep up such a pace? Between the demands of work, wife and Wasteland 2 I just can't seem to get any hobby time in at the moment.

The mars attacks stuff paints up really quickly. And the battle systems stuff goes up in no time. Honestly I wish I would get more done but FFT keeps being easier to do Sometimes I can paint and mind the child at the same time, sometimes I'm a bit of a climbing apparatus and feel like I shouldn't have any sharp things or easily lost when dropped items on hand
If I ever tried to paint something difficult that involved a lot of layering or blending, it'd take me forever. I'm all smoke and mirrors man, tricks and shortcuts

Cross-posted from the diorama blog, feel free to guide me along on this one
After some quick mock-ups I think I may have to go with something more like this.
The oniwaban needs to be left and mushashi needs to be right, it's the way they're sculpted, you're kind of looking at both of their backs if I flip them. Also, 3 buildings is almost too much, makes it hard to see everything.
Now what, though? How to paint the oniwaban on the ground. I could do something similar to the camo effect on my malignos?
Kind of grey-scale the 'hidden' portion maybe like it's cycling out of camo, with a bit of a blue tint and bright blue/white lines where the camo has already dropped. I can't really paint him like the environment because it'll be open behind him. I guess I could to imply a building behind him but that may not be obvious enough to sell it.
Also will need to mount the sniper at a downward angle or she'll look stupid. Still planning on painting her like a billboard behind her.
And some fun shots of a 4x4 table set up 'just because'
Phew, there we go. Just a bit of a skirmish between corporation forces and assaulting Shadow Knights and their temporary Forge Father Allies. Does this herald a triumphant return of the dark grey space marines, or was I just letting them out of their cage for a day? I really need to finish painting the partially finished terrain and get some more pieces built.
Seriously considering just plowing forward with my space marines, forgetting about tall-scale and chaos conversion possibilities, there's a chance this winter I could go make contact with that game group an hour south and play occasionally if I've got a force... not sure it would pan out though, I never stick to armies long enough to finish them.

I am really sorry I have no idea whats going on, but it looks amazing. JK. Does look great though, very atmospheric. Your terrain looks awesome, and the models look brilliant.

I need to get some more scatter terrain sorted out, and finish painting the buildings. I also need to get at least one 4-5'x1-2' board/sheet with a city background printed on it so the board shots aren't just floating in space (or worse yet, my garage ).
Gonna distract myself with some Mini Ninjas and then look into working on the diorama setting.

Is terrain density important in those games? I know we always struggle in Necromunda to get the right balance of density as terrain is hugely important to how the scenarios play out. Your board looks awesome even without scatter terrain.

Balance is important for deadzone, too little terrain and shooty armies really pull ahead, too much and they never get the chance to shoot at stuff rushing them. Infinity likes a lot.
I really need to make that immersive backer thing, should make photos way cooler, and I need a lot of work on the buildings, they're boring without adds and bits and bobs.
Got a few more pictures I"ll add but it sounds like the kid is chucking stuff in the o ther room so bbl =/

and painted signs, I mean Hospitals all number and color code their wings and wards.
That though looks like a pretty intense scene, SM and the other minis duking it out like that.

@Shas -- Yes, signs and door/room numbers, names of the places and so on. I could cram a lot more models in, only used about half of the corporation available but they didn't have enough opposition without just fighting 'all of my other models', the SK-FF alliance is tenuous at best without throwing in another faction
I'll crosspost the other thread here in a bit once the photos are there. Here's a question for you guys, which would you like to see tonight?
Drag out all of my Marines for inventory/display/pileofshame
or
Build the Mototronica Infinity operation Icestorm Paper terrain
or
Attempt to clean and at least partially build a deadzone strider
???
I'll have to start doing one of those soon if it's going to happen, perhaps priority will go to the first answer by six (about an hour)? or the only answer? Or I'll just pick at random More than one answer by six and I'll go with the majority, or roll off

I've been quiet too long, loving the minis, especially the aliens from infinity. Honestly I haven't even looked much into the infinity range and I never saw those before, very cool and excellent work on them. I'm also really blown away by the clear bases, I know I've commented about them a few times, but every time I see your models on them in action it just looks awesome. I was always put off by based models when they were on a display board of different styles, like a snowy base on a volcanic board , not a nuclear winter.
Where do you order the bases from, especially for infinity as I have operation: Icestorm and the N3 rulebook on order. I think the clear bases will be the route I take. Also what sizes are most common for infinity, I'm guessing 25mm, but do I need 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's as well? Sorry for the noob question. You have me jumping in both feet first on the Infinity game.

Diorama thread update with pictures of finalized layout:
Spoiler:
Here's more:
Gonna go with this, proceeding to glue everything into place. The building will get a texture and the ground will too, will probably add a fence post for the mesh fence, and I'll be creating new barrels for the dio since I"m giving it away.
This should be fun, I can put the mesh pattern on the TO camo effect, should look cool if I manage it
Will probably make the set's barrels taller so he won't have the option to just hop them
She's gonna need some bit of scenery to help achieve that angle.
@Theo, thanks for the kind words
You're in the 'States so I suggest Litko. I think it was $15 for 100 bases. Clear acrylic. My brain is getting soft and I can't remember if they're 1mm or 1.5 anymore (thick), but the thinner option that they offer.
Infinity uses mostly 25mm bases, and some extra large models are on 40s. Most tags and some of the bigger remotes just got switched to 55mm bases which Litko didn't regularly offer the last time I checked. However, they have some kind of base-maker page where you can custom order them by size and thickness so you can totally get 55mm bases that way, gonna have to order some for myself since my trio of nomad remotes got bumped up to them.
Automatically Appended Next Post: We shall have to try to play some time, I jumped in pretty blind myself and saturated my model count by blowing a lot of amazon store credit (would never spend money that wasn't 'free' on infinity on amazon, terrible prices) and icestorm. Humorously, the Shasvastii didn't even come about until after Gencon (me owning them, I mean), I've got a bunch of angry Nomads and some Haqqislam dudes sitting around fuming wishing they had paint too.

May be kind of late for pics of that if it is confirmed, there are a lot of bits to track down Of course then mr. Souza may have multiple larger piles, it's a lot for me ok
Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright it looks like Mr. Souza has claimed the price of directing my next action, space marine pile of shame incoming as possible.

Looks like I'm bit late, but I would like to see the O:I terrain built, if possible with some shots of how it goes together, as I haven't seen any like that yet.

I want to see what others consider a marine pile o shame, so I can laugh and bust out mine . All my metal marines have been boxed up for over a decade now, and would make most current players swoon just for shear numbers.
I started a litko order last night but was put off so badly by their shipping price that I deleted it before placing. Was ordering 100 of the 25mm and 10 of the 40mm came to about $20.00, shipping was another $7.00(ouch), and just didn't pull the trigger. Maybe after I stop at MM today I'll order it, especially if I don't buy anything there and just pick up an order I placed yesterday.

Yeah it helps to order a lot from them at once, it's kind of like the Warstore to me, I've been working through that same initial 200 base order for months though.
My marine pile o shame won't really be that impressive to others, but it was assembled from ebay and elsewhere in just over a year or two so it's considerable for it's brevity in accumulation and still makes me sad because the potential is there for a nice army but I'm just having trouble getting anywhere with it.
I'll do that and the terrain soonish, both are easier than painting on the diorama, didn't get a chance last night though.
