That's third party, Kabuki I believe. There's a dual set of 'Alpharius' and 'Omegon', both pretty cool, but not FW models.

That's a Mk III armour that marine is wearing.
I'd guess Dorn (they don't nessecarily have to wait to release him until the books catches up to the background?) , or Corax on Istvaan as you say.
Dorn is in book 3, unless I missed your point.

I was referring to the books catching up to the siege of Terra as I don't think Dorn fought marines until then.

Its probably not a Primarch as the dude getting whacked does seem to have received his blow from a height comparable with his own height and not from somebody on top of a massive ruin, wreaked tank hull, window sill or stepladder which seems to be the norm for a Primarch at the moment.

Since you have the model, do you think it detracts from Perty himself? I love my Iron Warriors, and I've painted Angron and Fulgrim because I like the detail in the primarchs, but that knight seems to detract from him in most of the paint jobs I've seen. Which is unfortunate because he's a pretty big guy in terms of actual size compared to the other primachs.
Also, I planned on painting Dorn, Corax, and Alpharius so it didn't matter to me who was coming out... I'm always excited to see a new primarch.

Perty really seems bigger than all previously released Primarchs, but maybe his armor is even more heavier and then he is on par with Horus and Vulkan.
About the base ... it depends on the paintjob compared to the Primarch I guess. I paint the bases rather dirty and don't go into too much detail - instead I paint the Primarch very clean so that he automatically stands out. Of course Perty will be the first one with an iron armor which might stand out less than e.g. a blue Guliman ...
Overall the model is so impressive that you should give it a try ...

Likewise  I collect Heresy era Imperial Fists too. Just find it interesting to see the models of such unique characters.
